Rest In Peace Nan.
Posted 5 years agoI know that I'm not really active here nowadays, but I just need somewhere to vent and get my thoughts and feelings down, mostly so I can take everything in while I sit here in shock.
So roughly 3 hours ago, my grandmother passed away from breast cancer, which had spread to multiple parts of her body. This hasn't come as a shock as she was declared terminal in the spring, but the doesn't stop this horrible mixture of emotions.
I feel privileged. My grandmother was the most loving person and the purest heart I've ever known. She was more than a grandparent, she adopted me at one of the lowest points of my life and was vocal about how she saw me as the son that she never had. It would have been a privilege just to have known her, but I was the luckiest guy on the planet for being related to her.
I feel relieved. I was told that her death was going to be imminent on the 6th November and that she had 48-72 hours left. So I vowed to stay by her bedside, keeping her company and helping make her as comfortable as I possibly could. Miraculously, she rallied, fighting on for 10 days. I stayed with her until the end, up until her last breath, leaving only to use the bathroom and shower.
I feel angry. She was let down by medical professionals every step of the way. Multiple misdiagnosis, lost test results and even a doctor declaring that she was terminal early on when she was alone, without the company of her loved ones, only for a second and a third doctor to tell us otherwise weeks later cost her dearly. There was even an admission of mistreatment from the hospital that the mistakes had cost her six weeks of treatment, which could have potentially saved her life. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
If nothing else, I can take comfort in that I was there for the last 10 days of her life. I was there until the very end. She went peacefully and was never alone.
Rest in peace Nan. I'll love you always.

November Hiatus
Posted 9 years agoYup, that's right. November is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month so from the 5th, I'm not going to be appearing online too much, if at all over the next few weeks.
So yeah, it's going to be a hectic but hopefully fun month. We've got quite a few things lined up for the trip including tickets to see the Toronto Raptors in the NBA and Ottawa Senators in the NHL, among other things. Of course, I might drop a couple of you notes at some point, providing that I get a spare moment at all and have at least somewhat decent WiFi access. And if anyone is interested, I might even post a picture or two like I have done on previous trips. c:
So in case I don't get to catch some of you beforehand, take care and I'll see you on the other side! ^vvv^

My Continual Condition
Posted 9 years agoI doubt that anybody is going to care, but so much has happened lately, I kinda need to chronicle my thoughts and maybe fill one or two people in on some things.
First off, I've quit my job. Or tendered my resignation at least with the view to leaving on the 10th September. For those who don't know, our manager moved on about a month ago, leaving me and another supervising colleague to run the bar with no time to prepare. In normal circumstances, we would have been fine but without going into too much detail, we've been left to pick up the pieces of our old manager's mistakes, with zero support from the parent company.
Couple that with the fact that I had to move into the tiny, unfurnished apartment above, leaving me to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor for the last two weeks, it's gotten to the point where enough is enough. However, I'm not totally unprepared on the job hunting front, I already have a couple of irons on the fire as so to speak.
On a more positive note, I am heading back to Canada again in November, this time hitting the Great White North for three weeks. I've had some chats with a couple of online friends about the prospect of hanging out (Yikes! I'm not really that exciting!) but I'll settle for some snow if nothing comes of those. It's been stupidly hot on my previous visits.
Anyway, I hope you've all been keeping well. Here's hoping that I get to catch up with some of you soon! ^vvv^

I don't even know how to title this... ;vvv;
Posted 9 years agoShit, fuck, just,,, I don't even know how I'm even going to get through this journal coherently...
I received tragic news today. One of my best and closest friends suddenly passed away this afternoon. I can't even begin to get my head around this, it's so... Surreal... Even now as I type this I can't stop crying. I've struggled to shake off the feeling of loneliness in the last few weeks and now with this... I don't even know how I'm going to pick myself up from this.
He was found at home by his housemate. As far as we're aware, he hadn't been unwell, at least not our knowledge. It's suspected that he suffered from cardiac arrest, but until we get the results of the postmortem, we won't know for sure.
I just want to apologize to my friends online for if I don't seem myself, or absent minded, blunt or perhaps even disappear in the next few weeks. I know it's inexcusable and you guys deserve better, but... Honestly? I don't know how I'm going to be when I've slept on this news and wake up tomorrow.
Finally I know that there are those who see journals like this as being a call for attention. To those, I say that I am not seeking attention or sympathy. Honesty is the very least that I owe to my friends and I don't want my mood in the next couple of weeks to impact negatively on the friendships that I share with them. All I want is for time and space to grieve.
Thank you for reading...

Currently without my laptop and Budapest
Posted 9 years agoHey guys, I hope that you have all been keeping well.
I really just wanted to give everyone a heads up about a couple of things. First off, I'm currently without a laptop thanks to my own stupidity. Unfortunately, on Sunday night I managed to spill a cup of cocoa on the machine, which as expected had an adverse effect. The touchpad's functionality became extremely limited, while the right click button stopped working altogether. Fortunately nothing else seemed to be affected but even so, I've had to send my laptop away to have the touchpad replaced.
For that reason, contact may be a little slower over the next few days. However, I still have my tablet so am somewhat reachable.
On a more positive note, I will be taking a trip to Budapest in three weeks time. I leave on the 3rd May and return on the 7th. I absolutely adore roaming around historic European cities, so am incredibly hyped for this trip. I've never been to Hungary, so it will be nice to learn about and experience some of the local culture.

Two thoughts about Pokémon Sun and Moon
Posted 9 years ago1. I hope they don't reveal too many Pokémon this time around. I took a glance at the XY reveals and press releases and it seems that roughly half of the Gen VI Pokémon were revealed prior to release.
2. Is it strange that I was more excited at getting the tiniest glimpse of how Pokémon designs are developed and rendered than I was about the announcement itself?

Bleh
Posted 10 years agoFirst I had the flu, now I've got tonsillitis. Yay! I just wish that my manager would understand that contacting me several times a day won't make me come back to work any quicker. |D
Random question: Is it weird that I can happily take a blood test or have an injection, even being able to watch the process, yet I can't tolerate having my blood pressure taken?

Back Home/Tumblr
Posted 10 years agoHey guys, I hope that everybody has been keeping well. Particularly
who I know lives in the path of the winter storm that is currently battering the Mind Atlantic coast of the US. Stay safe buddy!
I was fortunate to that my flight home from New York took off before the storm hit the city, however the trip to the airport was manic, what with a sizable number of people looking to flee the city. So yeah, I'm back in merry old England and the jetlag is really starting to kick in, which sucks.
Secondly, I'm thinking of restarting a blog on Tumblr. I use the word restarting as I used to have a blog a couple of years ago, but closed it down when some stuff in my life offline cut down my will to socialize with others. Anyway, what I'm wondering is if any of my friends who happen to have Tumblr accounts consider watching me? Or if anyone would check it out in general? After all, I'm hardly a social butterfly.
I guess most of the stuff on the page would relate to gaming, music and travelling for anyone who may wish to know.
Anyway, that's about all I have to say for now. Take care everyone! c:

Happy New Year
Posted 10 years agoHey guys, I know it's a little early but I just wanted to post this journal to wish every single one of my friends and watchers a Happy New Year.
I'd just like to give a special shout out to the following people who have been there to support me over the last 365 days, both lifting my spirits in the lowest moments and being there to share some of the highs with me, as well as making 2015 such a memorable year:
Of course, if your icon isn't included above, that isn't to say that I've forgotten or am ungrateful. I really appreciate all of the friends that I have made here on FA. c:
Film: Inside Out – It's Pixar's finest work since Up in my opinion and really makes me all the more desperate for the release of Finding Dory if that's the standard that can be expected. (Not to mention, I've only been waiting for nearly 13 years for the sequel. |D)
TV Show: Parks and Recreation – Sadly, the series came to an end this year, but it's still the funniest sitcom on TV in my eyes.
Video Game: Fallout 4 – I could write an essay about this. But I won't.
Song:
Book: I didn't really get to spend too much time reading this year. However, The Silence, a horror novel by Tim Lebbon certainly made for a compelling read.
To be honest, really put too much thought into 2016 just. My main aim this year is to find more free time for myself and use it to travel more, starting with my trip to New York on 18th January.
Happy New Year everyone and catch you all in 2016! ^vvv^

Happy Holidays
Posted 10 years agoSeasons greetings everyone! I just wanted to take the time to wish all of my friends and watchers a very Merry Christmas! I hope you all have a wonderful time no matter how you plan to spend the day. ^vvv^
As for myself, I'll actually be spending the day working, but that's life I guess. At least I'm still able to keep up my tradition of watching Finding Nemo on Christmas Eve. <3 (I'm actually at the Just Keep Swimming scene as I type this.)
Anyway, stay safe everybody and have a good one! c:

Car crash, travel plans & general life stuff
Posted 10 years agoSo earlier on today I found myself in a car accident.. I didn't pick up any major injuries or anything, but was treated for shock. Despite being advised to rest tonight, I'm getting no sympathy by my employers, I'm still being made to work tonight, even after giving up my only day off in a period of 2 weeks yesterday. sighs.
In more upbeat news, it's three weeks today until I visit Canada again. So just to give you all a heads up, I'll be away from 11th September until the 22nd September. I've got a lot packed in for the trip including visiting Montreal, Ottawa, maybe meeting a couple of friends should things work out and attending the Ottawa animation festival.
Elsewhere, I'm being awarded my liquor licence. To put it simply, I can legally manage a bar. What's more, it's internationally recognised, so will certainly help me when I seek to move abroad in the next couple of years.
That's about all from me, how are you guys doing? I've been so busy at work it feels like I haven't hung out and chatted to some of my friends for ages. ;vvv;

Kingdom Hearts III
Posted 10 years agoDamn you Square Enix, was must you tease us like this after making us wait for so long? The game looks gorgeous, but still there's not even a hint of a release date. :/
At least some will be thrilled by the inclusion of the Tangled universe.

At last!
Posted 10 years agoI've been offered and accepted a new job. Cue celebrations!
I was actually offered a couple of jobs today, but I couldn't really say no to this. I've been taken on as a team leader at a local sports bar. As well as having to supervise some of my new colleges during my shifts (which I'm nervous about since I've never worked in a bar before), I'll be required to help plan monthly events. Apparently this is something that I might be good at since they've taken an interest in and asked me to put together a plan about a hockey-themed night to coincide with the end of the NHL season that I mentioned in my interview, when asked about potential ideas.
Admittedly, I still hope to forge a career in advertising, but the wage is decent, there's potential for progression and best of all, I'll be working with my irl best friend. However, I will be taking some night shifts which means some people won't be seeing me on Skype or F-Chat as much.
Anyway, that's enough about me. How are you guys?
I was actually offered a couple of jobs today, but I couldn't really say no to this. I've been taken on as a team leader at a local sports bar. As well as having to supervise some of my new colleges during my shifts (which I'm nervous about since I've never worked in a bar before), I'll be required to help plan monthly events. Apparently this is something that I might be good at since they've taken an interest in and asked me to put together a plan about a hockey-themed night to coincide with the end of the NHL season that I mentioned in my interview, when asked about potential ideas.

1. Do you watch/read pornography?
I don't really read it, unless it appears in a fanfic I'm reading. As for watching it, no. Never.
2. Would you ever consider making (acting or directing) a porno?
Pfft, I've got too much self respect and too little confidence.
3. Are you a virgin?
Nope, lost mine several years ago.
4. Are there any friends you've thought about sex with?
Nah, I'd feel way too awkward and guilty after. >///<
5. Any of your friends you HAVE had sex with?
Just the one, although I was in a relationship with her at the time.
6. Someone famous you would have sex with?
Don't really think about that tbh.
7. Attracted to (men/women)?
Both, I guess. Although I am demisexual irl.
8. Do you masturbate?
Nope, I don't feel the need to. I don't particularly like hearing about it from others either. (Just putting that out there since some like to slip it into conversations.)
9. Would you rather oral or anal?
Oral.
10. Would you rather be the dominant partner, or the submissive partner in a relationship?
I'm a switch, although my shyness probably suggests otherwise. I guess it just depends on which way my partner leans.
11. Would you ever want to be tied?
Already done it out of curiosity. There's no denying that I was nervous, but it turned out to be a better experience than I epected.
12. Would you ever want to tie someone up?
Sure, if my partner was into that sort of thing.
13. Ever offered to tie someone up?
Never. Like I'm open enough to just bring that kind of thing up.
14. Anyone ever offered to tie you up?
Yush, it wouldn't have happened otherwise.
15. Would you rather your sexual partner be shaved, or unshaved?
I don't mind either way. Given my persuasion, it's not among the first things that spring to mind.
16. Are you a flirt?
No, not on purpose at least. If I come across that way, there's a 95% chance that I'm oblivious to it.
17. Do you own sexy underwear?
Depends on what you'd describe as sexy. I don't think anyone has ever peeked in my underwear drawer and thought to themselves, “Ring-a-ding-ding,” though.
18. Pee games?
Wha...?
19. Your weakness?
Fighting-types.
Seriously though, I've always been a sucker for master/pet play. But then, from what I hear, most of my friends seem to say the same, so it's nothing out of the ordinary.
20. Favorite features on a sexual partner?
Umm... Curves I guess.
21. Your best features are?
I dunno... I don't consider myself to be all that attractive. -_-
22. Would you have sex with music playing?
Done it before. (Surprise surprise, the song was Discovering the Waterfront by Silverstein.) I'm not really fussed either way.
23. If yes, what song?
Who on earth thinks about this kind of thing? D:
24. Favorite word for sex (fucking, humping, shagging…)?
'Doink.' Fun to say, right?
25. Whispering or screaming?
Umm, whispering?
26. When you want to have sex with someone, what do you do about it?
Umm... Blush. Although a lot of things make me blush, so nobody would ever be able to tell. >///<
28. Would you consider tying up someone and hurting them / being tied and having someone hurt you?
Nope, I don't take any pleasure from receiving pain and I'd be too be worry about causing a serious injury when giving.
29. Would you consider tying someone up and tickling them / being tied and having someone tickle you?
Sure, that's something I'd be willing to explore if it's what my partner wanted.
30. Would you rather be on top?
I don't really have a preference.
31. Sex on a holiday? (Easter/Halloween/etc..)
Er... I'm lost. What difference does it make? Is holiday-themed sexy clothing being suggested here? o_O
32. How much would you do for your sexual partner?
This seems to be a bit vague.
33.Threesome?
Only if I felt some kind of attachment to them both.
34. Sex before marriage?
I'd be pretty hypocritical if I were to say no, wouldn't I? :o
35. Something that's important in sex that most people overlook?
I don't know if it's really the case, but it seems that a lot of people overlook affection and romance. But then I might either be oblivious or just plain old fashioned.
36. Pussyfart.
Why was my mind immediately drawn to this?
37. Tongue in your private area?
^///^
38. Tongue in your bellybutton?
Never tried it. Don't intend to.
39. Zodiac sign (yours, and sexual partner's)?
Capricorn. Not sure why it matters though.
40. Tips to turn you on?
Pfft, like I'm going to post that for everyone to see. Some things are best left to remain a mystery. o_O

Posted 11 years agoUgh, mid twenties. I'm not sure that I'm ready to grow old just yet. It's scary stuff, not to mention that I'm probably too much of a dork to pull it off.
Thanks to those who left me birthday messages on Skype or wherever, it's much appreciated. <3

Goodbye to 2014. Hello to 2015
Posted 11 years agoI know that it's a little early to be posting this, but since I'll be ringing in the new year the same way that I do every year, by drinking a bit too much at a friend's party in London, I won't be on tomorrow evening.
Anyway, I just want to take a moment to wish all of my friends and watchers a happy and prosperous new year. Take care everyone! ^vvv^
And because a friend suggested it and I was bored enough to bother:
1. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I can't even remember what my resolutions were for last year, so that'll have to be one for the no column. As for next year, it's to find a new job as quickly as possible for the sake of my own sanity. It's only a couple of weeks since I resigned from my last one and I'm already sick of being unemployed.
2. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My younger sister gave birth to a little girl back in August.
3. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, my uncle. Just a few days after I had become an uncle myself in fact.
4. What countries did you visit?
Aside from my own? Well pretty much everyone knows that I visited Canada back in October. It's fair to say that it was certainly the best trip that I've ever been on. I met some wonderful people, saw some amazing sights and came away with memories I'll cherish forever. (How cheesy does that sound!?)
5. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
Confidence in social situations.
6. What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory?
20th October, simply because it was the date that I set off on my trip.
7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Surviving I guess... Does that count?
8. What was your biggest regret of the year?
I don't really have any regrets, although it was a shame missing out on the opportunity to hang out with three or four awesome friends while on my travels for various reasons.
9. Did you suffer illness?
Nothing major. Just your standard colds and viruses.
10. What was the best thing you bought?
The dork in me wants to say this
11. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

I can't single anyone out. I love all of you guys to bits. <3
12. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Some people have had their moments, but I'm not going to judge or name any names here.
13. Where did most of your money go?
I spent most of my money on my trip. Oddly enough, I actually found myself with more Canadian Dollars than British Pounds to my name for awhile this year.
14. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
As if I need to answer that one? I've mentioned it enough times in this journal already.
15. What song/album will always remind you of 2014?
16. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder? I feel like I should say sadder, but I'm feeling optimistic about the new year.
Fatter or thinner? About the same really.
Richer or poorer? A little richer I guess. I've worked so much overtime this year.
17. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Drawing. Although work and real life stuff kinda killed my mood and motivation.
18. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Putting up with the drama that occurred throughout the year at work.
19. Did you have a crush on anyone in 2014?
Yes, but the less said about that the better.
20. What was your favourite TV show?
Probably Gotham. It's fair to say that I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. Particularly Robin Lord Taylor's performance as Oswald Cobblepot.
21. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Nope. I'm not one to hold grudges.
22. What was the best book you read?
Not too sure really. I don't think that any of the books that I read were released in 2014.
23. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hands Like Houses. <3
24. What was your favourite film of this year?
The LEGO Movie. Everything was awesome. (Sorry...)
25. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Nothing special, I had to work that day. And I was 23.
26. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
The same as previous years. A black hoodie, graphic t-shirts, navy or black jeans and converse. Ooh and my lucky tangerine scarf and grey fingerless gloves on colder days.
27. What kept you sane?
My earphones and the music I used to block out the world around me.
28. What news story stirred you the most?
Probably the Ottawa shooting, given that I was at the scene just 10 minutes before the attack occurred and even heard the gunshots. Even this photo was taken minutes before.
29. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
I'm not sure. Given recent events in my life, I'll just roll with to not always expect the worst.
30. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
This comes from "Survive" by Rise Against:
“Somewhere between happy and total fucking wreck
Feet sometimes on solid ground, sometimes at the edge
To spend your waking moments, simply killing time
Is to give up on your hopes and dreams, to give up on your...
Life for you has been less than kind
So take a number, stand in line
We've all been sorry, we've all been hurt
But how we survive is what makes us who we are”
And that's about it. Well done to you and many thanks if you managed to read all of that. Happy New Year everyone! ^vvv^
