Sonic Revolution - America's Sonic Convention!
Posted 12 years ago(Please feel free to repost the below if you'd like to spread the word!)
What is Sonic Revolution? It is a Sonic the Hedgehog convention by the fans, for the fans, a la Summer of Sonic. Originally Sonic Boom West in 2013, basically it was reasoned that it wasn't proper to expect SEGA to hold events for fans; after all, America is far too big for just one convention.
The details are unknown but it is assumed it will be scheduled sometime in Summer 2014 in the South California area. Sonic Revolution also works closely with Sonic Social to spread news regarding meetups and other conventions around the world. Given time, Sonic Revolution also will likely hold events in multiple cities a la Comic Con or PAX.
The social media you can join the Revolution on are quite vast:

Want a Sonic meetup in your town?
Posted 12 years agoHave you ever looked at Summer of Sonic or Sonic Boom and wished there was something similar, if smaller, local to you?
Well, that's why there's the new Sonic Social meetup group on Facebook!
Basically, membership in the group allows as follows:
1. When a person joins, they can check the List of Meetup Groups to see if one is in their area. This comes complete with contact information, either via Facebook or otherwise, to allow you to get involved with that group.
2. If there is no meetup group for your area, you can simply start a Facebook group and post about it on the group's page; your group will be added to the list for everyone to see.
3. As a result of this, fans will be able to find your group and before you know it you'll be able to have local meetups of your own!
Feel free to repost this if you like; the more exposure the group gets the sooner we can reach our goal of gatherings of Sonic fans in every city!

Attention all Nevada Sonic fans!
Posted 12 years agoA Facebook group has been formed for all Sonic fans within the state of Nevada. Besides being a place to socialise and chat, it's also meant to hopefully one day foster meetups between Nevada Sonic fans.
If you're a Nevada Sonic fan, feel free to join! Even if you're not, if you know a person with that description, feel free to recommend it to them; the more the merrier! :)

Sonic Boom West - September 14, Orange, California
Posted 12 years agoFor those on the West coast who weren't able to attend Sonic Boom in St. Louis this year, don't worry! Shayne Edwards and Lidice Garcia of Sonic Radio have gotten together their own event; here's the official Facebook page.
Time: Saturday, September 14 at 1:00pm
Location: Dave and Buster's, 20 City Blvd W Ste G1, Orange, California 92868-3120
Highlights include:
-A trivia contest hosted by
OggyIgel complete with prizes!
-A raffle for all attendees.
-A 20 dollar tab for all attendees to get food and drink with.
-Showing of Sonic Paradox' Metropolis Mayhem and Sonic Shorts Volume 8!
-Summer of Sonic pins courtesy of the Sonic Show.
-There will be Sonic music DJed for the duration of the event.
-A special bonus exclusive to the event that neither Summer of Sonic nor Sonic Boom attendees have received.
-The ability to socialise with Sonic fans from all over!
So far the event's picked up about 18 goings and 16 maybes... but the more the merrier! Note: the room at Dave and Buster's accommodates about 20 people; those over the number will still be able to participate in all the fun activities outside the room, however.

Aaron Webber Comments on Autism in the Sonic Fandom
Posted 12 years agoAaron Webber is SEGA America's brand manager for Sonic the Hedgehog and other big SEGA brands in North America. At Sonic Boom 2013, he was approached about autism in the Sonic fandom... and despite some initial awkwardness, provided an inoffensive answer.

Commissions and Raising Money for the Sonic Social Fund!
Posted 12 years agoSo my friend
OggyIgel has decided to put together something he calls the Sonic Social Fund, which will be used to fund Sonic-related fan events around the world. The current target is Sonic Boom West but with sufficient donations it could very likely become able to help numerous causes.
So, to assist in this regard...
I am doing 2 dollar black and white sketches (you are free to pay more if you like, however!) as commissions. Provided it's nothing extreme or female in content I'm most likely open to it! Half of all proceeds will be donated to the fund.
I don't resume college until about two weeks, so I'm eager to get to work on whatever your perverse desires may wish of you! As always my Paypal is Taniciusfox@aol.com.
If you're NOT interested in a commission but would still like to help out the fund, you are free to donate to Ogilviemaurice[at]yahoo.com via Paypal!

Sonic Boom 2013 Recap
Posted 12 years agoWell that was a fun night! I'm back from St. Louis and the event was much like last year's in its flow, but it was also very different. This year it was hosted by Aaron Webber rather than the clueless person who did it last year (she pronounced echidna like the ch in church).
For starters we arrived three hours early and waited calmly in the shade, talking to fans as the crowd steadily grew; we were able to get special tickets that let us in early.
Upon being let in my first move was to play Sonic Lost World. I will say the game is gorgeous, no matter how cartoony it looks. The controls take a while to get used to but I'm already positive about it.
The Crush 40 concert was grand as usual. As Crush 40 and Jun Sunoue played alone this year, they were able to squeeze in more songs. For example, they were able to play I Am All of Me!
The Q&As were fun but I was kind of distracted. One notable part was Iizuka once more being pestered about SA3. Guy can't get a rest!
Costume contest was won once again by a robotic Sonic, complete with electrically-glowing eyes and engine. Aaron Webber was noticeably intimidated by the Tails Doll.
News wasn't as good as last year's, as it was all Lost World stuff. We did get to see the full English cutscene that was shown in Japanese a week ago, however, and that was grand to get context.
Once the event was over I stuck around and was able to get autographs from Kazuyuki Hoshino and Aaron Webber. Topping the night off was Aaron, standing outside, being asked about autism in the Sonic fandom and giving one hell of a reply!
Hope to see you all next year; it's time to plan my trip to Expo 2013!

Avast maties! Sonic Lost World gameplay footage!
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.sonicstadium.org/2013/06.....faces-via-ign/
Have fun with it!
The parkour system is looking fairly cool. The cartoony style will take some time to get used to but I'm sure I'll manage.
MAN does that gameplay look chaotic as all fuck though!

Posted 12 years agoMy Sonic Collection! (Part of it anyway)
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMBnIyYS0lk
I got bored, and decided to record some of the Sonic merchandise I own. Feel free to give it a look if you like!
My personal favorite is the quilt my grandmother made me... it was made with love, and so has more value than pretty much anything else in the collection.
I have tons more but this is a good sample I think.

Back In Business!
Posted 12 years agoSo in case no one heard, which most of you haven't, the last two or so months have been financial hell with me since Paypal limited my account.
Confirming my identity was a complete and utter whore since they wanted a photo ID (mine is 19 months expired) or utility bill (which has my parents' name on it and not mine). Fortunately I was able to finally cram it through today, so yay, there's that.
I'll be able to take commissions and stuff again now if anyone feels my atrocious art or writing is worth their hard-earned coin.
Yay!

Ratchet and Clank Movie Announced!
Posted 12 years agohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx1oyMUxmkc
So Insomniac has partnered with Blockade and and Rainmaker to create a Ratchet and Clank Film.
It's going to be written by the same folks who write the games, so don't be afraid of Uwe Boll or his cronies being behind it.
So, fully animated, seems humorous from the samples we got already, and is written by the same folks who made the game.
I've got high hopes for it. If it's executed right, you will still be able to follow it even if you haven't closely followed the games.
Anyone else think we could see more video game films if this one does well? The 2010s have been a video game movie decade thus far - Scott Pilgrim, Wreck It Ralph, and now this. A successful decade, no less; it seems we're finally breaking the stigma against making video game-themed films, but this one will be purely based off a franchise rather than just simple references.

Shameless Radio Sega Plug!
Posted 12 years agoSo, having just celebrated its third anniversary of live shows, I would like to take a moment to promote Radio Sega. It plays every Sega tune you can imagine, including remixes, with a variety of shows on Fridays and Saturdays. You can request songs from a list as well, and it will automatically be added to their playlist.
While you're listening you can also join fellow listeners at their IRC Chatroom! Hopefully I'll see you there! :3
Also if you register at the site please vote in this poll that's determining whether Vyse or Sonic is a better character: http://www.radiosega.net/forum/show.....dgehog-vs-Vyse Sonic needs more votes to go on to face Dr. Eggman in the finals!
