Month off or Foxtrot
Posted 12 years agoHello all -
We attempted to pull together a last-minute Foxtrot for the Thursday before the con, much like we did last year.
We weren't able to get support of the venue, and last year the money towards the shuttle did not pay off. So we will resume normal Foxtrot's sometime after the con. Stay tuned!
In the mean time, stop by the Foxtrot table in the RMFC Dealer's Den, where we will be selling posters and prints of past Foxtrot art for very reasonable prices. ^^

Foxtrot will be THURSDAY BEFORE RMFC
Posted 13 years agoEVERYFUR - The next Denver Foxtrot is going to be THE THURSDAY night before RMFC!! We will be at a new, exclusive venue, and hope to have many out-of-towners in for the con! We will also likely be arranging for a bus to-and-from the hotel. Mark you calendars! This is aiming to be the best Foxtrot yet!
We'd also like to thank the RMFC arrangers for helping us coordinate both schedules, and making this possible. :-D
We will have a set of DJs, who are new to the event. Possibly some out-of-towners who are around for the con.
We should be releasing flyers/posters soon with more details. As always - first 40 furs drink free!!

Foxtrot - Fridays/Saturdays?
Posted 13 years agoHey Denver/Foco/Springs locals!
For those familiar with Foxtrot, we recently have been asked by the bar to move our event to Friday, as they are changing their bar format, and making Friday nights their "party nights." We have a great relationship with the bar, as they have really done all the can to help make our event successful.
Last week we tried the first Friday event ever. It was lots of fun, but the attendance was noticeably down.
We know that there are a few furry events on Friday that might be competing, along with the fact that people are getting off work, or working late.
Would love to see some comments below about whether you think Friday is going to work in the long run. If we go back the bar and try to negotiate back for Saturdays, I want to have lots of good reasons for ammunition.
*huggles* thanks all

Stay posted for the next event timing, which will be in roughly 2 months.

FOXTROT AT THE AQUA LOUNGE - SPREAD THE WORLD!!!!!!
Posted 14 years agoHey all -
So as many of you probably know, the Fox Bar in Fort Collins had a fire, precluding them from hosting our upcoming event on Oct 1st. So after some scrambling, we found a great venue in downtown Denver to host us at the same time/same date.
http://www.aqualoungedenver.com/
For more info check the event page
http://www.foxtrotclub.com/
Note that because the event is at a new bar, under 21 will not be admitted (at least this first time). We may try to negotiate that later if the event works out.
Check
direwolf23 's FA page for more updates as well. SEE YOU THERE!!!
Denver goodbye party for Erro - Fursuit flashmobbin Sept 10
Posted 14 years agoOur good friend and fursuit artist
erro is leaving Denver shortly for warmer (and more expensive) shores in California. He'd like his send off to involve a group of 5-10 Colorado suiters in an Econoline van, driving around Denver and flashmobbing whatever cool goings-on we happen across.
Anyone feeling it?
Anyone have hard-copy of Aug 18-24th Westword?
Posted 14 years agoApparently there is a print picture of my Scribble head in the paper advertising the Slide Show. Does anyone have or know of where I can get back issues of Westword?

Thoughts on RMFC 2011
Posted 14 years agoWell now -
I finally received Tao (my first suit) in the mail Fedex International only one day before the con. I'm eternally indebted to
nevermint for his having previously loaned me many a suit for other suiting events over the past years. It was always incredibly enjoyable, but I never failed to take the responsibility of honoring his characters seriously, so I was never completely able to rock out with my own personality. Finally, after a year of anticipation, I had my own fur to wear... and epicness quickly ensued.
For those who have not fursuited, or do not own their own suit: You gotta get down on this.
Wearing a character that I have worked revision after revision with the various artists involved (
fluke and
onefurall), along with the pure anticipation that comes with 12 long months of waiting, sent me through so many powerful emotions. Everything from pride and elation, to overanalyzation and criticality. Striving for perfection and then learning to accept that the suit itself, like any piece of artwork is *never* finished, rather abandoned and declared "perfect enough." I have nothing but respect for artists (fursuit and otherwise) who have trained themselves to toe that line between obsession and attention to detail. (Erro! :-P)
I've thought some, also, about the psychology behind the various reactions to the Tao suit as well. I recall well my first reaction to Nevermint's Jager a handful of years back, the first suit that I (admitted to myself) I had a crush on. It was a nervous combination of desire, sheepishness, vicarious envy, arousal... even a hint of misplaced shame. Now, through the eyes of Tao I saw all of those emotions in various people and many more. Probably the most extreme being a cute feline who was completely unable to look me in the eye or even speak complete sentences to me. Funny how in some cases, deftly crafted synthetic fabric can cause such primal human emotions. Then again "normal people" foam and fap-off to the lies of Hollywood makeup and lighting and fabricated personas all the time. No difference really.
As I live with Tao over the next years, I wonder how he will grow - both physical alterations and my own emotional connection. I'm sure parts of him will glow in the dark, and other parts will move electronically, and he may develop his own synthesized voice (all things that are on my drawing board as an electrical engineer). How close will I become to my suit? What would be my reaction if he ever loses a paw? Will he fall out of favor as I buy or (hopefully) make other suits? How will I see my first suit years from now, when fursuit technology makes him as obsolete as Nintendo?
/shrug/ shit I donno.

Ridin Dirty Face
Posted 14 years agoAs lots of my friends know, I have been riding freight trains around the country since i was about 17. I finally took my mate and love of my life on his first train ride, and captured a few photos and videos.
I'll probably put a vid or two on youtube. I the meantime here are a few quick shots we snapped along the way. Blue and I had a great time, and he's looking froward to riding more fr8s in the future. :-P

Posted 14 years agoDog lovers should watch this documentary streaming on Netflix. It's pretty amazing. Did you know that when a master pets his/her dog, they both experience a release of oxytocin to their blood? Oxytocin is the same neurotransmitter in the brain that a mother releases during breastfeeding which nurtures the mother-child bond.

I don't think I have anywhere close to the supplies and hardware necessary to make this thing myself, or I would give it a try.
So - WHO do you know about, that does large-scale rubber, latex or foam-latex casting?
FFFFUUUUUUU - pupE you will like this especially.

Posted 15 years agoI've had a few furs ask about the pronunciation of my name.
"Tao" comes from my philosophical identification with the ancient Chinese Lao Tzu test aka the "Tao te Ching." Directly translated, Tao means "the way" and is pronounced with a "D" like "Dow" and rhymes with "wow"
Wikipedia has a not horrible article on it:

So there ya go. Cheers

TaoFox Character Description
Posted 15 years agoAs always, for those who care:
(Those who don't can go right ahead and leave without shame of hurting my feelings
Here is the personality of the character of Tao Fox. He is actually a collage of my own feelings, emotions and desires during different stages in my life. The overachiever academician meets the Dharma Bum. Only a fox could pull this off. :-P
*************************
Personality:
- Outgoing
- Playful
- Sage, wise
- Athletic
- sexy/horny
- Sly but not deceptive
- early 20s [ok plus 10 years... shush all of you]
- bisexual
The name Tao Fox comes from my own discovering of myself and an "enlightenment" of sorts. Tao Fox lives *in* the world but is not *of* the world. Things don't bother him, because he has learned the Truth of his existence, and can fully appreciate any and all things that he undertakes. He can be downright playful and silly, he can step up and take control of a difficult situation, he can be a caring lover... really the world is his oyster. His face should reflect that confidence, and a knowing glint in his eye. He would probably even admit that he is a little bit of a narcissist (as would I, he he he) ... but never the kind to take advantage of someone.
Tao Fox has a canine temperament. If he is sad, he cries. If he is angry he growls. But because he expresses his emotion, he doesn't have any baggage that goes with him from place to place. I actually really like Scribblefox canines, and how well you capture that particular spirit.
I picture him as a Rhode Scholar. He's the fox who graduated head of his class as captain of the varsity soccer team, and a scholarship to study abroad somewhere. He plays the "game of life" very well, but he is not tied down by it. He enjoys material possessions but is not bound to them. If absolutely necessary, he could leave his life at the drop of a hat, and walk into the woods to live a simple life with his mate for the rest of his life.
After college he took time to travel around the world, on the bum with nothing but a backpack, and found himself and his true nature while on the road. (I'm writing this particular story right now). He's not a softy. He has slept under bridges and ridden freight trains. The combination of all his life experience made him what he is today - the Tao Fox.
