Ive finally made it to my cash goal, thanks to my for ever supportive patreons and commissioners, so, after such a long break, I feel quite motivated about working on the comic again!
I hope page 17 will be done soon, if everything goes as planned, and from there I will try to keep a steady schedule of a page every 20 days. I know the old schedule was every 10 pages, but Im starting a new career in college this monday and I still dont know how heavy my schedule will be. Anyways, still better than no pages at all! XD
Ive also been considering on getting a subscription at Picarto and do private livestreams for my comic Patreons, would anyone be interested on that? You would be able to see sketches and pages muuuch earlier than the general public, and you can even give me a hand with dialogues, expressions and what not! Another idea I'm considering is a 'cameo' reward, so when I need to draw an extra random character I can choose from one of my patreon's! Still, no cameos until, at least, page 20, but there will be scenes further in the story that may require quite a good amount of them ^^ (Im still considering if I should do a patreon pledge for this or do an auction for the slots when I define them)
Let me know what you think! Also I would love to hear your guesses of what is going on with that weird stone in Keeda's neck!

Hi guys!
The idea is to open for some commissions to be done at MY OWN PACE with no deadline. Its a queue, a list, first come first serve.
Its perfect to me as I dont know how much time I will have left when I go back to college, so I cant promiss to finish anything on a determinated time.
Instead I can go working on the next on the list whenever I find time, or need money.
These commissions may be a bit experimental, kind of wing-it and may be a bit more expensive than my occassional offers (but will stay open as long as I am capable of working)

One character.(Detailed. May or may not have a simple background)

They are both 'express' and wont have a preview sketch unless I have a specific doubt I would like to discuss. (Express meaning I will probably sit and finish them in one go, not over more than a day since I start) I will do adjustments after piece is finished if I missed/missplaced any character details.

Regarding IODINE's delay

So I got a couple of people asking me about the comic, so I guessed I'd post this here so everyone wondering the same can know.
I am really really delayed again, we should be on page 20 or so, but dont worry I havent given up on it or got bored from it
I have just been traveling, and trying to catch up after holidays absence.
On another side, it has been bringing me down the fact that I need to cash up a bit before I start college again, and the comic is straight up a HUGE amount of time I could use on commissions.
Charging around 30 dolars per hour, wich is my normal a comic page would cost around 300-450 USD... I have done 16, thats 4,500 USD I could have earned by doing commissions in that time.. So, yeah, these numbers bring me down a bit and make me wonder if its worth it.
Thats why Ive been trying to bring my Patreons up, because it allows me to get enough without depending entirely on commissions, leaving more time for personal projects like IODINE.
Alright, so, I just wanted to let you know whats going on around me and in my mind right now. If you like the comic please consider supporting, just 1 dollar is more than enough, I have more than 1,800 watchers, if half of them donated one dollar I would be having 900 USD extra, which, right now, iwould be world changing to me.
I dont know why there is so much people hating Patreon, as if it actually changed something for the followers; the finished art is still free for all to see, only now supporters get extra little things which wouldnt be released to the public if there wasnt a patreon.
Anyways, I dont want you to take this as a rant kind of journal, Im not writting it on that tone, but more like a sad, tired resignation, because I know Im late, I know you want me to continue, and I will continue as mucha as I can, but these thoughts will stay in my mind as well. The numbers just dont add up.
Im also not trying to sound ungrateful, Im tremendously glad about everybody's support through all these years, I hope you all know that.

Im nor really enthusiastic about any project Im working on at the moment and I can only do so many comic panels in a day before I need to work on something else haha Lately Ive been sitting in front of my tablet with a bunch of stuff to do but with no motivation at all, and Ive found varying to smaller pictures I can finish in a day really helps to keep me moving XD
So, I'll take 3 commissions (hopefully finished before the 17th). Options are..

Earthquake o.o
Posted 10 years agoFor those who, eventually, watch the news, yesterday an 8.4 earthquake moved Chile, and yes I live in chile, and yes, Im alive in case you were wondering <3
Everybody I know here is ok actually, infrastructure here is tough and prepared for this, but its 4 minutes long killed a few people who got panic attacks.
And well, tsunami did its usual destruction.
Actually we had like 30 smaller quakes after the main one, so it was quite stressful.
So, yeah, that. Just informing for anyone who might be interested.
On other news, I was thinking on doing a couple of portrait commissions.. anyone up for that?
Oh and PAGE 7 of the comic is already up on my site ^^

PS crash and comic pages

no good news this time, one of the comic pages I was working on got corrupted. The damn computer died on me suddenly while I was working, and the problem is not that I didnt save my progress, but that the file got corrupted and when I open it now its just plain black.
Something similar happened to me a couple of years back, and, as I didnt do back then, I cant find any solution...
Really frustrating, Im going to install Ps CS6 right away from my old computer, as that one at least has recovery files, unlike cs5.
On another note, Im done with Page 7, but should I start uploading every time I finish a page or have a schedule as I did before? What do you prefer? (If schedule, it will be every 10 days each, but I would have to finish a couple of pages more before starting to upload)

FREE RL: First of all Ill be doing 1 free redline/review per week, Ill choose the person (just leave a comment below if interested). Only one drawing. The redline will be shown to the artist only.
PERSONAL MENTORSHIP: 1 person per month.- Access to a private blog where all critiques, reviews, redlines, tips, tutorials will be uploaded. - Choose theme for monthly tutorial.- Personal help with the process of 2 drawings inside the month, from sketch correction to color and shading (1 full review every 3 days aprox, small tips and comments every day)
ACCESS ONLY: Access to the blog mentioned above.- unlimited slots
So, what do you think? I have yet to think about pricing though. The access to the blog could be like 5 dollars per month and the mentorship no less than 40, as Ill be spending good time on each review and all.

It wasn what i thought, and i didnt learn what i expected heh
Im still finishing 2 classes of this semester though, not all the 5 of them because im done wasting my time doing stuff that wont help me achieve my objectives.
This means ill have about half of my time back yay! Today i plugged in my tablet after about 3 months, im excited lol. I dont think i should go straight back into the commissions i owe, i need to wake up part of my skills yet and i dont want to deliver low quality stuff, so ill be doing some speedpaints and warm up doodles until i get comfortable again (wont be long).
Next semester though i want to be transferred inside of the same university to Art. I dont know if ill like it and i know its not exactly what i want, but i still have to pay the whole year and i wont let it go to waste. I still believe i will learn some techniques or at least practice some skills here c:
Oh thank you to the ones who commented on my last journal! my plan is still the same (to go study abroad in a year or two , and to look up for some 1-month courses to attend on January-February next year), so any tips or ideas are welcome!
On the other hand, i would like to improve my portfolio and skills. Ive done quite a bit of training but very little studies, i would like to learn more about the "theory" around art. Any good books on the matter? tutorials, videos, blogs or anything? c: Also, yes, this means ill probably wont return to commissions or open my patreon in a while :/

Studies / University help!

Well as you probably know, University has been consuming all my time, its terrible and... Im probably dropping out.
It seems that Design is not what I thought it was. My goal is to end up working on videogames, movies and such, as a concept artist, illustrator, character developer, world design, 3d modeling, ... And Design is not bringing me any near that goal.
I always knew Design wasnt exactly my career, but in my country i had only 2 options: Design or Art. Maybe Art would have been a better choice.
So my plan was to stay here for about 2 more years, (studying something meanwhile) and then move to USA for a BFA in Illustration.
My problem is that i need a scholarship for sure, i cant pay more than 10 thousand a year, including stay, food and, it just doesn't feel fair for my parents.
Questions!
Does anyone know somewhere i could go for a 1 month course or something like that? (Art, 3d modeling, illustration, .. ) I would like to travel around January-February to see what it is like and get to know more about Universities and life there.
Recommended Universities to study? Do you think it is realistic of me to aspire for a scholarship?
Any suggestions or experiences are useful!!

So yeah im eating all my savings really reaaaaallly fast. Im not sure of what to do, because i have absolutely no time for commissions. I remember someone suggested to make a patreon to support my studies but i just wouldnt know what to offer back...

Im just feeling really frustrated and writing it down just makes it feel less terrible.
The thing is that ive been in college for like 3 weeks and all the projects ive done have failed badly... for the most stupid reasons really.
First, like two weeks ago we had to do a 'descriptive page' about ourselves, they said we had to hand it printed or on a page(not file). And well, if it had to be about myself and why i chose the career i thought nothing would fit better than to do it all in photoshop, after all thats where i spend my whole day into and what im passionate about. The teachers showed it to all the class as an example, but not as a good one. They said it was too digital, that the name didnt stand out and that the tiger in the background had no connection with 'me' (it sais, digital illustration, i dont know how they didnt get it, and they proposed i should have added like a hand and a pencil to make it more clear, wtf)
The ipod prototype was a complete fail.
Whatever, that was the first project, i decided to learn from it and put a lot of effort and planning into the next thing: a morphological study of a mouse.
In a summary : i spent like 4 days planning and building this 3d paper mouse to get a 3,5 out of 7(being 7 the best)
When i asked what had i done wrong they said that they had actually given it a 7, but then they noticed it didnt stand 'firmly'. That was the only reason.
The things that bother me the most is that first i dont feel like they are teaching me they are just telling us to bring projects, they dont give us how much points does each item cost (i didnr know that the way it would stand was worth 50% of the grade!) and that i feel like im stressing over none sense! Do i really need a Designer degree? Its worth nothing and it wont get me a good job, plus its pulling me away from my artwork!! Ughhhhhh
I dont want to sound like im dropping out, my parents payed for this whole year, so im at least finishing it, but im sereously reconsidering priorities.

Canceling Patreon, Comic on hiatus

I dont want to do this, i really dont, but i have no other option. College has been far more demanding than I ever expected. Theres project after project, and they are not so simple or for beginners.
Of course ill finish what i owe from February, but sloooowly and artwork from me will be scarce.
The comic! god this hurts me, i was so enthusiastic abut it and it was going so well! all releases were coming as scheduled, and i was happy to work on it. I guess theres not much option, at this rate i would be able to do a page per month...
I hope stress will release a little later on, this beginning has been harsh. I dont find it a bit funny that my "career" wont allow me to dedicate time to what i like the most and what i really want to dedicate myself in the future.

Design, First day!
Posted 10 years agoWednesday was "my first day", but they just gave us a speech. Thursdays I have no classes at all, so today was my first real class!
(( Oh something I forgot to mention the other day. Im not studying exactly Graphic Design, Im studying "Integral" Design, which is Graphic, Industrial and Fashion design all together. ))
It was "Laboratory of models and prototypes" something like that. They explained to us what this class will be about and they gave us homework for next friday, nothing too terrible.. just to make a prototype identical to a real life mp3.
I have no idea how im going to do this... textures, colors, gloss, everything has to be exactly the same and feel real using common materials, nothing too complex. The examples they showed us... just wow, howwww? Tey didnt give us any advice as they want to see how WE approach this task.
In summary: I have no idea how Im going to do this, Ill have to do a prototype every week aaaand I think I love this class!! (Ill hate it after 10 prototypes, but until then aksjhdlakjhf theres so much to learn! I like demanding classes)
So Im like YAY and :S at the same time.
