I've broken down and got a DA and an AIM
Posted 14 years agoSo I'm pretty sure you guys should know this, but I have gotten a DA a few hours ago and I'm going to work on posting my builds and stories on both places. If you wish to watch me there, here is the link: http://legoblocksmith.deviantart.com/
As for AIM, I am going to share it here if you guys want to chat some time about anything: blocksmithwells[at]aol.com
I hope to see you guys on both

BlackTron, "Time Cruisers" Original and possilbe Xmas wants
Posted 14 years agoSo I've been messing around with some or my minifigures in recent times as well as watching some fun stop motion shorts on YouTube and I got to thinking: We really need BlackTron back. For those of you that do not know what BlackTron is, it was a Lego series released in the mid 1980s and was the first "bad guy" space theme. The ships and space stations color scheme was black on yellow/lime green, hornet colors and the series itself was closely tied in with the MTron and Ice Planet sets at the time. I have a couple of minifigures that are from recent themes, the Cyborg from Mystery Minifigure Sereis 3, as well as a minifig body from my store's Build a Minifig and I really think that Blacktron, as well as Ice Planet and Mtron, deserve a modern day reboot.
That being said, using the two figures I customized, I thought about that Hero Factory Story idea and I want to expand on that to also include Lego System (regular bricks). And what a perfect series to do so then my old favorite theme: Time Cruisers. Yes, more childhood nostalgia punching you in the nose. When I was a youngster, I f***ing loved this series, the height of 90s Mad Science in a nut shell to go back in time and fix the wrong, ala Doctor Who style. Of course the old marketing gemick was the recycle pieces from older themes and Frankenstein them together into something sellable. And it worked for the most part. The sets were random as hell, had a lot of unique pieces, like the Hypno disk piece, had some cool idea for revisiting the old 90s themes and overall my favorite growing up.
I tell all of that to throw in my hat for writing stories in a sort of Time Cruisers scenario, calling it Time Hunters. A team of minifigures set out across time and space to make it better as well as hunt down the Last BlackTron and prevent him from re-awakening. It will be a multi episode story and should be fun. I would love any sort of feed back about this idea, maybe even a guest appearance from your character, sona, whatever in Lego format.
And now, as what I would groan about, the Holidays (mainly the overly marketed Christmas holiday for those that only celebrate it for free stuff) are looming ever closer and I don't have a set list. Maybe I can get some ideas from the peanut gallery, but I've been wanting to treat myself to something that I would use on a regular basis, cheap or at least not very expensive, something that I probably haven't heard of but is amazing or some sort of a nice getaway of sort (shut up right now if you are going to suggest Lego). What are your thoughts?
So I'll leave it at that, going to start up stories sometime between now and 2012 and characters are welcomed. And what would be a good "To Me From Me" gift?

Spure of the moment Holiday build and pictures
Posted 14 years agoAfter finding a missing piece to the Medieval Market Place set from Lego Castle, I got into the holiday mood. So I got to building, and setting up, and snapped pictures of cool things I added. I took about 10-11 pictures in all (might drop one or post it as scraps, not sure yet) with my camera phone since I don't have a camera camera yet(the kind that only takes pictures and views them). I shall be posting these guys as soon as I email them to myself.
As for other things, I've been tempted by Tumblr and Reddit in recent times for more sites to share on, do I dare?

Posted 14 years agoI began working for an awesome place. So awesome that it had a great renovation and big grand re-opening. Since then, I've met a lot of people and friends, some things changed and other things stayed the same. As I get ready to head in to work today, I'm reminded that it wasn't that long ago in which I was down in the dumps, lost a career and nowhere to go but then I got a phone call, then an interview, then my first day today a year ago. Happy 1 year at the Mall of America Lego Store and many more to go.
Possible ideas on Flickr and Stories
Posted 14 years agoSo I've been thinking a while on a few things, first off I've been thinking about getting myself a Flickr account so I can upload my creations to a large building community (not leaving mind you). As much fun as its been to upload my creations here I feel that it probably wouldn't be favorably received if I tell publicly that I have an FA when a large portion of what is submitted here is very mature. Again, I'm not leaving, but wanting to have more options in that regard.
My second idea I've been thinking of is writing a few short stories of a few Lego Hero Factory MOCs I've built. The long short of how those guys would run is Nathan Chargestone, Epsilon Ironside (MOC built, not posted yet) and Rick Cogneto (planned build) are part of a new team over at the Hero Factory and they take on not only some tough challenges, but odd ones too. They'll be both light hearted and serious, puns that'll turn your forehead red from face palms and overall fun.
That's what has been on my mind in some more recent times, aside from designing my jet pack (which is awesome, lol). With that note, I'll see you guys later.

Update: Actual Progress and Master Builder Academy Build
Posted 14 years agoAlright guys, I know I've been really behind on any and all updates I was planning on doing, but I blame getting my hours back at work (and Skyward Sword (but mostly work)). At any rate, suit is still lightly being worked on, I have the beginnings of a chest plate built and I've yet to rebuild my new arm guard and Arm Cannon (currently in a bag in sections). Sadly it will have to take a little bit of a back burner seat due to recent and more important expenditures (auto repairs and bills), but I wouldn't mind $10 gift cards from Lego (lol I kid).
My last design craze has been in regards to Master Builder Academy, an awesome Lego kit series that teaches better building. In Kit 1, Level 1 Space Designer, it comes with a Level 1 MBA Minifigure that also has a fun little jet pack build on top of the main model builds (will post a picture of my MBA minifig later). This past Saturday, the 26th of November, I was asked to promote MBA at work and they gave me an awesome, lime green shirt with the MBA emblem on it. So I got to thinking and I am designing the jet pack from Master Builder Academy, Macro Brick* edition. I just finished designing one piece that I'll have to build three of, using a scale of 1x1 brick (I.E. 1 peg size) to a 10"x10" base plate. So far it is coming out nicely, I will upload a picture from my Digital Designer in a few minutes. When I have more sections made, I'll post a design picture of all components connected (minus straps which I'll be toying around with in a little while.)
That aside, regular life updates is that I've been busy, worked my first Black Friday at the Lego Store and it was pretty awesome as well as tiring. I've got a few things planned in the near future to keep spirits high, especially with the holidays coming up and things between me and my girlfriend are doing well. I think that covers what I wanted to say at this time, if I missed anything I'll make another journal stating what I want to say.

Update time: Lets try and be productive this time
Posted 14 years agoIn recent times, I've been trying to motivate myself to get my suit, if not different sections done. I would have more done, but I rushed to quickly into this project of mine and now stepping back and seeing what I've set out to do is a difficult task at hand, it shall and will be built.
Progress on the suit so far is slow, to say the least. I've been working on something I can wear at work, the Thinking Hat from Lego Universe. I'm currently in the middle of designing and scaling as well as getting key elements to make it light up. Yes it will be able to light up, it does come with a Lego built Florescent bulb that I designed myself and my store manager as well as other associated are excited to see it finished as well. I will provide a link at the bottom of the journal for reference. Later on, I want to build some Ratchet & Clank weapons (mainly the Omni-wrench) but that will come later.
Out of Lego business, I hate Tires Plus for telling me I had to get some new tires because they forgot to make sure all my lugnuts were the same the last I was in. But I can't change the past, I'm not going to piss and moan about it and all is good. I'm looking forward to a couple of conventions in the near future, and plotting my next year out, Anime con wise. Not sure if I'll go to a fur convention, and I'll see about going to a Lego convention at some point in the future. Also, things are going well with my current girl, and I plan on keeping it just us for as long as possible, so is she. With all of that said, nothing new to really say except I'm excited for a few new games, like Pokemon Rumble Battle, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (collector's edition(naturally)) and Animal Crossing for the 3DS.
I feel as though this is a fine update to present to all my watchers. I want to give you all a personal thank you, either for being friends offline or enjoying my works and builds, it means a lot that there are people that share the same passion of keeping your childhood strong while being 20-50 somethings. As for that light bulb, I'll get a picture of it on here shortly

Looking forward to the weekend as well as some future plans
Posted 14 years agoFor those of you that know my plans (kinda/maybe/sorta), I am head of a department for a brand new anime convention here in Minnesota called AniMinneapolis that is happening this weekend, July 8-10th. We have a ton of special guests coming and a very good expected turn out for a first time convention (looking at about 700-1.4k attendees) and I'm very excited. It is going to be a great way for me to escape from a bunch of crap that has happened and take a breather from life stresses. I hope that I might see one or two of you guys there, if you live in the metro area of Minnesota.
Also in exciting news, I will be revealing my latest section of my suit, as stated in my last journal. Hopefully I'll be able to show it off with planned favorable response. I just can't wait to show it off to the world. And before you guys start saying that a "Lego Suit has already been done." I am fully aware that some guy somewhere USA has already built a Halo Suit. Do I care? Only yes because I want to know how he got the feet and boot covers to work before I go about and potentially ruin perfectly good bricks.
Now, I've recently toyed around with a fun costume idea, more of an Original Character then anything, but I've been using the term Blocksmith a lot in recent times, mostly for characters in text bases role plays. But I don't think I've shown what one looks like. I'll be working on a costume, props and possible reference sheet at a later time (Well after the con this coming weekend). Either way, I'm going to make it a point to keep you guys posted.

I am back! For the most part...
Posted 14 years agoSorry about not having an update in what most feel like a long time (looks like a good month and some time), I've been dealing with a bunch of crap on my off time as well as planning for a new anime convention here in Minnesota. and while eys I haven't exactly said much as to what I'm working on in recent times, I can asure you that I will have my current build unvailed at AniMinneapolis 2011 (July 8-10 at Northland Inn) this year(The aforementioned anime con I've been working on)
Now, for the tid bit on the most part, I currently do not have a laptop that has internet. The old rig of mine decided to blue screen 3 times in a row on my this past Wednesday and I'm left to use my household's personal PC of borrow other peoples computers, so when I get pictures of my new project posted, it could be delayed even more then I would like.
Other then that, I've just been trying to keep a level head and not let the pre-con stress get to me, and so far, no panic attacks, just the feeling of a lot of weight on my shoulders. I might have one little panic attack sometime next week, if I can afford it, we shall see :)

Building tomorrow
Posted 14 years agoI finally got some much needed pieces to begin building the next section of my suit: The Chest section. I've invested in a cup of Pick A Brick at work when I learned we got more hinge pieces in as well as some more plates for making the frame. Tomorrow I'm going to do the frame and larger sections of the suit, but probably wont detail it right off the bat. I'm going to be showing it off at the MNFur Pininc this Saturday after work, so I have my work cut out for me.
An awesome shirt I might just have to get

I'm pretty sure I've established that I'm a Lego nerd, but I think that this might take the cake
I'm a Block Smith, I build arms and armor with Blocks
Posted 14 years agoWell guys, its been a while since I've updated my page, but I should let you know that I am still working on my suit every day, coming up with new ideas and seeing how to implement them on a budget. And while I've been working away at that, I've started my own persona website, something that is a little more "public friendly" as it were. My site features a blog, photo gallery that I will keep updated with my works, including other scrap ideas that I don't see fit for FA. It also have a message forum that I plan to keep as friendly to all people and ages.
Here is the link to my site, please stop by and sign up for it: http://theblocksmith.webs.com/
As for neat things I'm going to be working on for the suit, I have two that I'm for sure going to do. One of which is the helm with a removable face mask, similar to the Iron Man helm and sliding face plate. I'm working on a grove system that will allow the face mask to slide on and off as well a way for it to slide up and over the front of the head.
The second of my two ideas that I'm going to do is an Arm Cannon, fashioned after Samus Aran's arm cannon from the Metroid Prime games. It will feature an expanding and collapsing barrel as well as panels that will expand outward from the cannon, similar to the way the Samus Cannon expands and contracts when changing to different weapon types.

A slight Detour in the build, but all so worth it
Posted 14 years agoThis past weekend I was at Anime Detour 2011 in Bloomington, Minnesota and all I have to say is that I was astounded by how awesome this convention was. Everyone that attended blow my mind in a lot of ways and I can say for sure that I will be attending next years convention, which I recommend.
That being said, I plan on having my Lego Mobil Suit completed well in advance, hopefully before 2012, to show case it at a convention. Well yes I can show it off at work, but it seems that a lot of big name people attend Anime Detour and to help spread through word of mouth my suit.
For progress about the building, I have yet to actually do more then the gauntlet I've partially built however, something new has been added to Lego and the LDD (Lego Digital Designer): Hero Factory parts. This should help my mobility issue I will more then likely face as well as a good way to link the sections together. As soon as I build the next section of my suit, or the beginnings of it, I'll test that theory out.

A New Project?!?
Posted 14 years agoThat right folks, The Tau is going to be building something else that is cool inlue of the Lego Zelda project I've been working and designing. I'm looking at making my very own Lego Suit of a random mechanical being, probably of one of my characters or turn the suit into a Hero Factory Hero. I'll be posting updates of both the Kakariko Build and the Lego Suit Build as I go.
Blarg Building
Posted 14 years agoWell my past weekend was rather crap-tactular, and by far one of the worst birthdays I've had, mainly because of the weather. But that aside, I'm still working on Kakariko, little by little. On my To-Do list is the Bazaar, the Potion Shop, both gates, the two houses and the back of the Windmill (which I'm convinced that I might just modify my existing version), some of the trees and then a debate on placing everything together in one file so I have a 3D view of the village.
If there is anything that you guys would like me to see about building (non sexual), let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

About 7665 days ago from this coming Sunday ago...
Posted 14 years agoI was born. Yes, my 21st birthday is coming closer and closer, and while yes I am still plotting and designing Kakariko Village, I've also entered what is called Hell Week at the theater I'm preforming at. Its going to be a fun show and we open this Friday, but my time is really busy, so its possible that I won't have any updates till some time next week. We'll see.
But the next big this I'm planning on doing is the Windmill, so there is a chance I'll take some WIP screen shots as I work. Before you ask, yes it'll have the mysterious nook behind the mill blades, yes it'll be fully functional, and yes I need to find more time to build it.
Expect to hear more from me in an "I Don't Know When" period of time, I'll have better news then.

A project I've stumbled upon
Posted 14 years agoI know I've been procrastinating on my writings for my characters, but I blame life. At any rate, I've been working on a new project that I had to due after finding out some information about this summers Lego set releases. So, I have embarked on remaking Kakariko Village from the Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. I'll be posting pictures of my progress and what I've accomplished so far. As of right now, I'm currently making the buildings and famous land marks on a digital maker. Those will be what I'll be posting first. Then come the Spring and Summer months, I predict that actual building will kick off with some livestreams to follow.
Building blocks and ticking clocks
Posted 15 years agoBlarg, I've meant to post more shit then three journals and a rough intro for one of my characters by now, but oh well. At any rate, I've been blessed last month with a very awesome job, working at the Lego Store in the Mall of America. I pretty sure not a whole lot of people can say that, in fact most will probably get a nostalgic feeling of Legos they had years ago. At any rate, enough about work, more about those characters I've been meaning to write about.... Yeah, they'll come out, I'm not picking up bad release habits from Valve, and I'm not just being a derp right now.
I'll say one thing before I finish up here, I will get the intros for Rall Stark, Epsilon and Jason Phrost up as soon as I can.

Character in progress of writing
Posted 15 years agoSo I have a few character that I've been toying around with, but I haven't exactly gotten a chance to right them down. They've only be floating in my brain recently. So in the next to two weeks, I shall be writing up blurps about a few characters of mine, Epsilon, Rall Stark, Jason Phrost and Tau Anul. They will come out at random times and in no real order. I hope you guys like them a bit as I see each character as a fragment of myself, so in tern, you'll know a bit more about me.
This is Halloween >:D
Posted 15 years agoWell, today is a day I've been waiting for this year, Spirit Halloween opens today. All the hard work over the past month or so has finally paid off with setting up the stores around the Twin City area. We have a lot of cool shit to offer to our customers as well as very cool displays, ranging from a Zombie Nursery to a Demonic Circus to some Horrorplex displays as well. Not only that, but we also have a wide variety of different costumes and accessories. As the slogan goes, its so much fun, its scary >:D
So what am I saying over all? If you live near the MN/WI border, you should come visit me at work so I can help you guys get some great ideas and/or discounts, we have a few promotional stuff going on, like a chance to win $10k with an Iron Man 2 drawing and you get 20% off you next item purchased. I'll announce a few other items of interest to you guys later on down the road as the big day comes. But till then, catch you later.

Introductions
Posted 15 years agoHello all, this is Epsilon. I figured I might as well start by getting the introductions out of the way, so lets start with the basics. I am in the age bracket of 20, male, I'm a mix of a brown and dire bear, meaning that I can be easy to get along with but when my temper is struck, you might want to flee the tricounty area that I live in.
A few more bits of interest of me, I'm in the US Army Reserves and have been for the past three years, I love the service and I have heavily considered on going active duty, also I'm going to college for a business degree with a focus in entertainment, like theater, haunted houses, attractions, theme parks, you name it I'm interested in it. As well as speaking about haunted houses, I'm working my second year for the Spirit Halloween company, quiet possibly every childhood dream to work there and I'm doing it again. Later on this Halloween season, I might see if I can links to special promotional offers and other fun stuff to get you guys cheaper discounts on looking good for Halloween outside of your fursuits.
And in more recent news, today I had two of my four wisdom teeth pulled, leaving me in a sort of meh and drugged up state for most of the day. But despite being in slight misery, I hope to catch and talk with you guys. Have fun.
