Raffle Stream Postponed Until Tomorrow
Posted 5 years agoKish and I are both exhausted after dealing with a gas leak last night and into this morning, so we decided to push the weekly raffle stream off until tomorrow (7/19/20). The stream will start at 6PM Eastern time and, as usual, there will be free raffles for sketches and a free 3D sculpt raffle as well!

Posted 5 years agoI've been changing my stream schedule around a bit, trying to accommodate viewers with different weekly schedules.
The new schedule is Sunday - Thursday at 6pm Eastern time, and is a mix of my artwork and 3D animation projects. I'm also going to be doing raffles on the Sunday stream, where all viewers are eligible to win a free sketch that will be done on stream =) You just need to be present when we roll the raffle to be eligible.
I might do these raffles on other days as well, but I'm specifically setting time aside for them on Sundays, starting today.
As a part of doing the streams more often, the individual streams are also shorter. Each stream is about 1.5 to 2 hours long, but we're still doing the after-stream Discord voice hangouts for Patrons =)

The weekly art/animation stream will be getting started at 5PM Eastern time. I'll be doing some work on Asher's character model for the first hour before moving on to some commission pieces, and finishing up the stream working on a digital painting for an upcoming animation project.
There will be a drawing at around 7PM for a free sketch (open to all viewers), and Patrons are invited to join me in the Discord server to hang out after the stream ends =)

Posted 6 years agoWith Kish's help, I'm finally getting my backlog of stream art posted to FA =) Thanks to the weekly streams, I've been producing a ton of art, which is great, but getting all of those posted to my gallery is extremely time consuming.
To simplify things, I'm going to be primarily posting the color and value drawing pieces on FA. If you'd like to see my sketch and line art pieces, those will be available at www.taurinfox.com =)

Edit: I've also moved all my previous post-stream comp images into my scraps folder. I was keeping them in the gallery since they were the only way to see my recent pieces, but now that we have an upload schedule in place, it's no longer necessary to keep those around =)

Animations Update
Posted 6 years agoI realize my previous journal might have been a little depressing, so here's some announcements about my upcoming animation projects ;)
Favnir's Animation Commission - My first ever animation commission project is complete aside from the sound work! That should be complete within the next few days. My Giga tier Patrons will get early access, but everyone else will be able to see it a week later.
Hit the Showers - My largest production since Fox in the Stable is in the final rendering phase! It took longer than expected to get to this point because I was working with new technology and techniques that weren't familiar to me, but I think it represents a huge step forward in what I'm able to produce, and I'll only get faster and more efficient with it as I produce more =) This video is going to feature motion captured character acting, dialogue, cloth animation, fluid animation, and a robust environment. The rendering process will probably take a couple months, but stay tuned for this one!
Phastor's Animation Commission - I'm just getting started on this one featuring Phastor's fluff dragon character. The character model is mostly done, and I'll probably be to the point of sculpting and texturing him by the end of tomorrow's animation stream.
No Horseplay - This one is in the queue as the next feature video I'll be producing (it's actually a prequel to Hit the Showers). I'll be starting preliminary work on it soon ^.^
I also have some other very interesting animation commissions in the queue, so expect to see some pretty cool animation work posted here over the next few months =D

Another year older.
Posted 6 years agoToday is my 42nd birthday. I've been a part of the fandom long enough to see several of my friends and fellow artists and performers pass away during that time and I can't help but feel like I've wasted a lot of precious time over the years. On top of that, I had a rude reminder of my own mortality a month ago when I was admitted to the ER and realized that my own health is somewhat less than stellar. On top of the medical issues that I have no control over (I'm type 1 diabetic with the beginning stages of diabetic retinopathy, plus celiac disease and psoriatic arthritis), I also realized that I haven't been taking as good care of myself as is within my ability to do so.
So, I've been trying to fix that. I've been getting more exercise, been balancing my medications better, and most importantly, I've been producing as much as I can while I still can. I've doubled down on my artwork with the weekly art streams, and devoted even more of my energy into my animations. (shameless plug; please consider becoming a Patron if you want to support my animation work).
Anyways, to conclude my birthday ramblings here, I just want to implore you all to make the most of what time the universe has given you. Don't waste a moment, because you have no way of knowing what time you have left. Spend every moment trying to advance your way towards whatever goals will make you feel like your life was a success. And if you do stumble, as I have, don't waste any of those precious moments on regret. Just double down on your goals and prove to yourself that your life had meaning.

An old friend's puppy needs help

A very old and dear friend of mine asked for help in spreading a donation link to raise funds for his puppy's surgery who was injured today and is unable to walk. No Art Stream Tonight
Posted 6 years agoKish and I are both sick today and feeling pretty fatigued, so we decided to take a break from the art stream this week. I know that some new people were looking to pick up commission slots tonight, and I apologize we'll have to postpone that, but we'll be back next week ^.^

Progress on the Animations!
Posted 7 years agoI thought I'd take a moment to talk about the state of my animation projects. I've been providing a lot of updates and sharing works in progress on my Patreon page, but I've been pretty silent about it here.
My Patreon has been going for about 10 months now, and it has allowed me to make some significant upgrades to my hardware and software. I was able to get 2 motion capture systems, which will allow me to get more realistic motion in my videos, even allowing me to record two characters interacting! I was also able to invest in better software for creating fur.
Most recently, I made the switch from using a CPU-based rendering engine to one that uses the GPU instead. To get the most out of that rendering engine, I also invested in an RTX 2080 Ti card. I had been holding off on making the switch to a GPU renderer because in my past experience they were buggy, had limited features, and actually rendered slower than their full-featured CPU based counterparts. This doesn't seem to be the case anymore now that GPU makers are designing their hardware with more general purpose applications in mind. For those curious, the specific rendering engine I went with is Redshift. I have one license for it now, and as soon as I have the additional funds, I'll be purchasing a second license so that I can use Kish's machine for rendering as well, which also has the same GPU in it. Redshift actually supports the use of up to 8 GPUs in a single machine for rendering, although a machine like that would cost around $30,000 so it's a little out of my price range at the moment XD Maybe once I start offering animation commissions :3
I have 2 animation projects currently in production. I'm very close to starting the production rendering of the first one, which will feature
kishfox as his fennec fox character playing with a dildo. Even with the new rendering engine, the rendering process will probably take a few weeks due to number of fur strands I'm rendering, global illumination, soft reflections, and other features I'm using to get the highest quality I can. If all goes well, it should be released next month. After that, I have an animation of Kish and my new Taurin character having some fun in a locker room ;) That one is close to being done as well. I used the mocap a lot in that one and just need to clean that up a little bit more before it's ready to render.
Animation commissions might be coming soon as well! Kish and I both have been working on learning Zbrush as a tool for modeling and texturing characters. If we can find a fast enough work flow with it, I'll probably start offering modeling commissions that may include renders of the character in different poses, 3D rendered character sheets, etc... It'll be a while yet before I can offer full animation commissions, but more than likely I will be offering some kind of YCH deal where the scene will be animated ahead of time and I'd be able to model your character and just pop it onto the existing rig to render out the sequence =) Right now I'm thinking of revisiting the Yiffing Machine for that, with a variety of options and attachments that you could choose from.

As many of you know, my main site, www.taurinfox.com hadn't been updated in quite some time, and was missing the last few years worth of my new work.
Thank's to kishfox and his hard work on it lately, the site has been updated with a brand new interface! It will be a lot easier to keep updated now, and we'll be using it as the primary archive of my art and animation works. I will, however, continue to actively post here on FA as well ^.^
One of the upgrades is that a Flash plugin is no longer required to view the animations on the site. Those should now be viewable on any modern browser without any special plugins. Another improvement is that the site now scales properly for mobile devices!
In addition to what's in place now, we're looking into adding keyword search functionality, and other features such as an auction system for selling YCH commissions and original artwork (I'm still hanging on to some paintings I did years ago, and possibly looking into starting painting again ;)

Stream Week!
Posted 7 years agoSince I've been gaining momentum on my art/animation business lately, I decided to take a week off work from my regular job and devote the entire time to my art!
I'll still be doing my weekly animation streams on Friday and art Streams on Saturday, but for the week of 9/3/18, I'll be working on the new animation for most of the day, each day every day, and streaming my work for my Patrons to watch, as well as presenting an Art stream every day Mon through Thurs so that I can get caught up on work and give people a chance to attend who can't make the regular Saturday streams. Everyone is welcome (and encouraged) to tune in to the art streams, even if just to hang out and have a good time =) The full schedule for the upcoming week has been updated on my Picarto page!
This is sort of an experiment to see what I can do if my Patreon support grows to the point of allowing me to do art full time. So I'm excited to see how this works out ^.^

Stream Today (4/22/18) at 3PM Eastern
Posted 7 years agoYesterday's stream was a ton of fun. Thanks again to everyone who attended =) However, commission demand was too high for me to get through it all (even on a 5 hour stream), so I'll be streaming again today on Picarto at 3PM Eastern time to try to get through the rest of them x3 I believe I have a 3-character value drawing and at least 3 color pieces in queue! I won't be taking new commission requests during this stream, but all are welcome to watch and chat with us while I work. We usually have a pretty good time XD

After resisting for so long, I'm finally now on Twitter x3 as https://twitter.com/taurin_fox kishfox will be helping me figure out how to use it since I'm an old grey muzzle who'd rather just spend the time drawing porn and not caring about what b-list celebrity had a nip-slip recently x3 But I will be using it to make important announcements and in conjunction with FA to keep you guys up to date with my work ^.^
I also wanted to announce that my weekly art streams will be shifting from 6PM to 3PM on Saturdays Eastern time so it doesn't end up running too late into the evening.
Also, the Patreon-exclusive animation streams have begun! The first one was yesterday, and I'm planning on another tomorrow at 6PM Eastern time. Fridays will probably be the norm for those since I don't need to get up early for work the following day. If you missed the one yesterday, I really just introduced myself, showed off some old project files, talked about my animation process, and answered questions. If you want to see tomorrow's session, all it takes is patron pledge of as little as $1. I can't promise it'll be the most entertaining thing you've ever seen (3D animation can be painfully slow and tedious), but if you want to see my progress on animation work, that's how to do it =)
Speaking of Patreon, I just posted a flythrough of the environment I made for Fox in the Stable to show what the whole thing looks like in the viewport. That's over on my Patreon as a public post. No need to pledge to see it, but it's a sample of what you can expect to see for upcoming projects as I'm working on them.

Animations!
Posted 7 years agoSo, I've been meaning to get back into my animations for a while, but it's been difficult because they take up so much of my time and have been too difficult to monetize up to this point. However, with the recent resurgence of my artwork and newfound motivation, I've been looking for ways to overcome that hurdle and restart my animations in much the same way.
kishfox and I think we've found a solution with Patreon. I set up an account at https://www.patreon.com/taurinfox For as little as $1 per month, I'm offering access to exclusive 3D animation streaming sessions where you can watch me work, ask questions and just hang out while I spend time on my animation work. Higher tiers will provide access to layered PSD files of my digital artwork, access to storyboards, screenshots of animation work in progress, test animations, test renderings, and even early access to new animations before they're made public.
My eventual goal starting with using Patreon is to be able to hire a team of modelers and animators so that I can produce the best quality animations that I can regularly and consistently, and possibly even offer animation commissions with a reasonable turnaround time.
If you'd like to become a patron and be a part of me achieving this goal, now is the time to join!
