Personal iFiction Project - Alpha release!
Posted 12 years agoWell, after close to two years of lurking on the internet, and silently scheming and coding, i think it's time i released this to the public just to see what people think of it.
The Unbalanced iFiction Engine (UiFE) is a system desigend to help people create their own text adventures/RPGs/Choose your own adventure style content, it's designed to be expandable and customize-able, without requiring someone to know how to program.
This is just an early Alpha release, with many feature still incomplete, but i felt it was time i let people have a good look, and perhaps get some feed back on how well it functions.
I've made my initial post on Nuku's Flexible survival Forum to make use of the existing user base, but i'm also contactable via furnet irc in the channel #uife

Posted 15 years agoThank-you everyone, especially to my new watchers, the attention is definitely more then I deserve considering how long I've left all my stories without an update :)
As a reward for your patience i think i'll have a New chapter of Dragon Pet out within two weeks. and possibly one or two stand alone pieces that I've half written and should finish before the ideas slip away.
And now a question to those watcher who also write, have any of you Made use of Google wave?
I started writing in it intending to make use of it as a collaborative tool, for jointly written stories, but the other few writers all got ambushed by RL and stopped using it. Has anyone else used it and formed an opinion? right now it's got all my half finished drafts and brainstorming ideas on it :)

To RTF or not RTF, that is the question...
Posted 15 years agoWell, i just had a look at my Page stats, and while I've got almost 100 views on several pieces, I've got few fav's or Comments.
while this could just be usaul browse and forget, i get the feeling it's possibly more the fact that many people won't take hte effort to read something out of hte browser.... also, those that WILL do so, have little incentive to come back and click hte fav link when they have a saved copy. and leaving a comment it less likely when the page is long gone.
As a result I've reposted both new stories in txt format, bit late now, after they've had their time on the Front page, but live and learn... hopefully next chapters will get higher hit rates :)

I do deeply apologize about the move. but based on the subject matter of my writing I've been getting really edgy about the way the my governments been on a crusade. so i thought it best to place more separation between my offline and online selves.
