Merch collab retirement

Just a little announcement.
I have chosen to to retire from doing collab designs at BossMonsta.
We still have few little critter plushies cooking that will be made but i got no plans to keep designing anything new after those.
To those or at least to that ONE person who was waiting to collect whole set of the shork dakimakuras :D sorry bud, that isnt gonna happen anymore <3
The remaining plushies, dakis shirts are still being restocked when sold out if there is enough interest. Pin designs are almost all out and will be retired once sold out!
Rare Nami and Aki plushies might still make little appearances at cons but those have been sold out from online for a long while now :P
I did like working together these past few years with Boss and im so happy that they wanted to work with me and considered me worthy.
Truly happy that people have liked my designs and posted about them.
We had a good run, but things change and its time to consider new things.

Ranting some thoughs
General | Posted a year agoIm putting myself in to vulnerable position by sharing so much but i feel like i gotta let it out.
Lately i have been kinda mentally breaking, trying to suck it up, having brave face on public assuring that things will get better. Hoping the feeling will go away but its getting worse.
I find myself not enjoying drawing anymore (exception being merch, i love designing merch)
since the AI became a thing i have been feeling that i never be good enough, how could i be good enough, im not fast enough, I can't compete with the speed or quality of the machine operated by trashy humans making a huge bank at our expense and really few people care.
My slowness with the improving and slower art speed didnt bother me that much before AI since all artists were on the same boat, but now we are on the timeline where quantity is everything and unrealistic for artists to do.
Multiple artists using AI tracing, heavy referencing, generating themself. Some get called out, some fly under the radar and majority of the people don't care, as long as they get their daily dose of fap material it doesn't matter how its made.
I have been blocking each and every account who uses or supports AI images and the number goes from few to hundred every day. Strangers, familiar faces, friends who just don't care anymore, dont think its big deal, are innocent enough not to read bio or even think to suspect something being AI.
i have been waiting for new laws to come in to place that regulates that shit but more and more huge companies are using it now so i dont think its looking good for artists and all the lawsuits who should be clear win cases are dragging on for years. AI companies trying to get rid of copyright fully.
Disney can scare AI companies with their big corpo money but does small fry like me have any chance to defend myself?
i nightshade and glaced for a long time now, i don't think we are seeing any difference. Every new piece i make is fed to to machine.
I can't quit drawing since its the only thing im somewhat good at and like doing and brings bread on the table. As much as I don't enjoy drawing anymore, regular jobs were more draining mentally and physically and didnt leave any energy for free time hobbies.
Mech brings only pocketmoney here and there that goes fully in taxes so cant just become merch only artist just like that either.
What i like about merch designing its something hard to describe. My skill and vision turned in to physical product by people who believe in me. Bought by people who liked what i did enough to want to buy and have their own.
I suppose its the same with usual patreon waifu art, or it was. People like my vision and skill enough to subscribe to me to see more and support me doing more of that since they like it :p
Now my lifetime of work can be taken by who ever and do 100 more any waifus with it in a minute and i can't do anything about it.
There will always be people who support artists but the numbers keep going down which is not gouraging.
Will the "adapt or die" truly be the future of art?

There is long time impersonator/scammer going around switching names more often than socks
User is pretending to be artists and selling fake comms in order to get discord nitros etc.
They are not smart with their scamming but some people still fall for it
Be skeptical and do good background search before giving your money to anyone.

No more commissions

Edit: 2023 i have now tested Patreon as a payment method for one YCH auction and it works out, just gotta minus the tax from the winning bid, so that winner doesnt get overcharged (as ych commishes has rule that i cant ask customer to pay extra fees so its included in the bid)
With this method i actually do end up still getting around 50% or bit less, like i would normally when billing with paypal BUT i do avoid all the extra paperwork.
Not sure if i prefer this way in the future tho, will see, i dont like paperwork :P
I have been thinking and considering this for a long time now, i came to the decision that i won´t be able to take commissions anymore.
First thing would be that taking one commission takes at least a week away from the exclusive content for patrons and substarers, and i dont wanna take stuff away from people who keep me going :P Sure i could make it to my TOS that said commission will have exclusive versions for supporters, but im not fan of making money of other individuals personal character so thats kinda naah.
Other thing being that i would likely get less than 50% of the price to myself if VAT is included to the price. This depends where the customer is from.
But in general i need to pay like 30% of my own tax and then what ever the VAT would be (in my country 24%) I could say that VAT will be added to the total price but eeehh.... thats lot of extra for customer.
I could go around that vat tax thing if i could take commission payment via Patreon but i dunno if it would be too much hassle for the customer, it would be better for me since patreon collects the vat automatically for me and i dont need to ever worry about that. Also this way there wouldn't be customer protection etc. (not like thats needed with me) :P
so dunno if that is even possible.
i would really wanna be able to do at least sum YCHs in the future, BUT is also comes down to if im willing to earn that less than 50% of my hard work <.<

commission situation update

So I have no idea when i will be able to open any commissions or YCHs again
since i opened my Patreon and Subscribestar accounts two months ago, creating extra content that i previously didnt make is really time consuming
Making art for customers takes me lot longer with all the communication and fixes and stuff than making own art so it would be away from the subscribers extra content which isnt good.
When ever i get one of those super productive months with out stress i could be maybe possible able to open sum again
Meanwhile i just offer oc doodle request on both pages to subscribers
i hope you understand and have a good December<3
