Generic updates and whatever
Posted 17 years agoUm, for one thing I don't think my journal ever mentiones yet that I'm back living with my parents. The furs I was staying with went sort-of nutso doing lots of rude, illegal, and dangerous things, so the whole camper trailer deal sort-of died. That was way back, though.
Lately I bought an electric guitar, and have been doing a lot of music stuff. I have been doing some temporary desk work (data entry stuff) at a bank to make a little money. I got the spot 'cause my sister's a manager there.
The general trend in my life right now is that I have health problems that prevent working in most normal jobs, but since I'm well enough to do a desk job I can't really get (nor do I really want) SSI, but I don't know how to get a desk job beyond the limited hours I occasionally get at the bank. This set of circumstances leaves me with huge amounts of spare time, which I use playing guitar and gardening and making things. I made some swimming goggles out of a two-liter soda bottle. Too much spare time and weird things like that are the result.
I'm bored, I'm frustrated, I want a carear again.

Strawberry Toast and Jam
Posted 17 years agoToday I attended an event called The Strawberry Toast and Jam held in Ponchatoula, Louisiana where I live. They had lots and lots of bands performing; more than seventy total! There were also a few art exhibits. The main art exhibit was exhibiting works by art students at local high schools. There were two really noteworthy pieces. The most striking was a brilliant purple raccoon with a bright yellow-green background. It was a really exceptional piece of work. The expression was just about perfect. The eyes in particular showed a lot of emotion. At a furry convention a painting like that would sell like wild fire! The second one I liked a lot was a swamp painting showing a lot of cypress trees. You see a lot of swamp paintings in this region, as there are a lot of really scenic swamps around here. Anyway, in this particular painting they made the cypress trees bright pink which gave a really interesting effect.
A lot of the bands were great, and even the ones which weren't so great were at least entertaining.
There was also a car show, but I'm not really much into cars. Some of them looked neat, though.
There were lots of little stands selling artwork made by local artists, but truthfully none of them were really all that spectacular or anything. One booth had paintings that looked like it was done in the painting style of the middle ages, which I suppose was a tad interesting. There were other booths selling trinkets, but the only thing I bought was some food and sodas.
At the end of the day when everything was over I was supposed to call my dad from a pay phone and have him come pick me up. However, the only payphone in Ponchatoula turned out to be broken. It stole my money twice and showed no signs of giving any sort of response. I had to walk home, which was a real pain since I live on the other side of town. On the walk home I found and picked up a black plastic handle which just looks like it might be able to be used for something. For what I don't know yet, but it was lying there discarded so I figured I might as well pick it up. I'm rather sunburned now from being outside all day, but I had fun.

Back in Louisiana
Posted 18 years agoO.K., I havn't been keeping my journal up to date as very much stuff has been happening. On Nov. 14 my mate died, which left me with no income. I had to move back to Louisiana. First I moved in with my parents, but the my former mate's brother and his friend decided to move to Louisiana with me. They didn't give me enough time to find a decent place to stay, so we had to rent a tiny RV in a red-neck campground to stay in until we can get something better.
Hung pictures on wall
Posted 18 years agoOver the table where I do my furry art there had been art by various artists I've bought at cons. However any time someone walks into my room and see my art table they just immediatly assume I drew the pictures, which I didn't. To avoid confusion I took all those pictures down and replaced them with pictures I have drawn myself.

Posted 18 years agoI joined today. Lately I've been creating lots of furry art. I have a site on furtopia.org and that is great for what it is, but I'm wanting more discussion of my individual art pieces.
