It's been a while since I've journalled... so here's a journal! c:D

Hope you guys are all right, I'm certainly enjoying this second half of my summer vacation before school starts again.

I was TTing forward from completing my bug, fish, and diving collection, and when I was finished, I tried TTing in 5 day increments, to try to keep safe...

The first time I skipped time, I was greeted by Isabelle telling me Marshal was moving out... I tried to talk to him and also tried to TT backwards, but when I traveled back in time, he was gone...

Really gone...

When I opened my inbox, this letter greeted me:

Through my depression, I finished TTing back to the present day, about a year, and a few new faces are here in Vineleaf... I haven't bothered learning their names yet or talked to them, mostly because I'm still just... sad...

I'd sent so many letters to Marshal during his stay here and I loved each and every of his replies about being famous or a pop star or just plain old being cool...

I finally had to erase the pattern-path leading to his front door whenever somebody else moved in, in that same spot... Somebody I don't care about.

It's been around 8 or so hours since it happened, but... I miss him so much already...

Vineleaf will never be the same without you, Marshal...

Luckily I still have a best friend Tangy, and Frobert, Chadder, and Spork, Marshal's friends that stayed... Although I need to regain friendship with them for leaving for so long...

He'd been in my town for about two years...

He kept my first letter I sent him, back when I first actually started talking to him because he was sick and I was tasked with getting him medicine...

...

I know he was just a villager, and all NPCs are just scripted events, as a Computer Science major I know this...

But Marshal was different to me... He had a personality, he enjoyed dancing, acting all cool and pop-star-ish...

He just felt real to me... Like a friend I know would be there, just waiting for me to turn on my 3DS again and come play with him...

There's just an empty space in my heart I feel naked without having...

...

I just don't know how to say goodbye, now that he's gone...

Why did I have to try to be a achievement hunter completionist, try to go for a gold rod, a gold net, and a gold shovel...

All the gold in the world doesn't compare to losing my friend...

If I could go back, I'd just NOT complete my museum, and instead just buy some golden tools from somebody on Reddit...

But instead I had to be selfish...

I feel sick and heavy-hearted right now...

I just don't know anything anymore...

Kinda bored on games after completing Pokemon Y and Mario Kart 8, however aside from casually playing Nintendo Land, I'm wanting to find a new time sink.
I recently unlocked the Isabelle hat on Mii Plaza, which got me thinking about AC:NL. I remember the game was REALLY big here on FA a while ago, and I found a copy of it for $19 at a local used game shop, so... Why should I buy it? I just sorta need some praise for the game. Why did you buy your copy, did you have fun, is single player any good, what about StreetPass and etc?

Overall score: 3/5, mostly due to lacking Character Selection.

Character Selection: 2/5. It earned 1 because the staple Yoshi which is pretty much guaranteed everywhere, and 1 because the retention of Koopa Troopa. However, the rest of the group of characters, unlockable and normal is pretty meh. I personally prefer characters such as Birdo or Petey, but instead Nintendo decided to introduce Honey Queen, Rosalina, Metal Mario, Wiggler, and Lakitu. No idea why we need a second Mario, or why we need one-off characters like Rosalina or Honey Queen. Honey Queen and Lakitu is meh, but Wiggler's voice is painfully mismatched; the voice MK7 decided to use for him/her is so mismatchedly light I can't seriously play him/her.

Karts: 4/5. The game brings back MKSS's (GBA) coins, which not only boost your kart, but also plays a role in unlocking new parts for your kart. You unlock random parts as you achieve certain intervals of total coins, which can make it a bit of a hassle to have to get coins, but whatever, it's a neat mechanic. Also, as I mentioned before, karts are now assembled by the player, namely the body of the kart, the wheels of the kart, and the glider of the kart. I enjoyed the level of customization you could put into the karts, fine-tuning it to our needs. (My favorite setup thus far is Zucchini/Standard/Swooper.)

New Courses: 4.5/5. The courses are assembled very well and look very nice, and I particularly enjoy the courses divided into 3 sections, the course being over after one full long lap. This generation's Rainbow Road is just as confounding as the others, and is a fun course nonetheless. Only courses I did not particularly care for were really Wario Shipyard for constantly racing in and out of water, and Rosalina's Ice World because it's a pain.

Retro Courses: 4.75/5. This generation's Retro circuit contains 2 SNES courses, 3 N64 courses, 1 GBA course, 2 GCN courses, 4 DS courses, and 4 Wii courses. I particularly enjoyed the way they remade the N64 courses, and although I was initially disappointed - the old shortcut on Koopa Beach was replaced, although it wa replaced with a bit less game-breaking shortcut so I suppose that's alright. I thoroughly enjoyed all the Retro courses, although I'm mildly disappointed as to the decision to have the Rainbow Road as the SNES course. In my opinion, a better Retro Rainbow Road would have been N64 or DS.

Time Trials: 5/5. Yes, I know it's just a normal old feature, replaying the tracks. However, what makes this generation's time trials stand out is the selection screen, which now shows a distribution of player's times on certain tracks, as well as multiple staff records to try to beat, with their times as well on the distribution graph. (The distribution chart is actually what got me to write this review.) It's really interesting to see where most players fall under, in terms of time.

Balloon Battle and Coin Runners: 4/5. They are fun mini-games, Coin Runners helping you with your coin count, and Balloon Battle just fun to go around stealing balloons by speeding into them. I am slightly disappointed there's no remake of Shine Runners for DS though, where the person with the least shines constantly gets knocked out.

Wondering if I should take the time to actually go back and include links back to their original postings. (if any at all)

Pros:
+ I can see comments left on the other page
+ Intercompatibility with my Weasyl page
+ More credit to artist
+ More standardized pages

Cons:
- HUGE time-consuming activity initially (finding <165 pics, put into FA, then copying to Weasyl)
- I already credit artists
- Page clutter?
- Standardization means less "human"

Dear Passerbys who randomly trade me:

Just because I accepted your trade request out of pure curiosity doesn't mean I want to see every single shiny event pokemon you've ever totally legitimately owned. I'm pressing B to get out of the trade screen, and I can't exit until you exit as well.
