Mmm note about reselling adopts + commissioned work
Posted 10 years agoThere's been a lot of up-in-arms-ness about this lately, and I just wanted to go over it briefly for my customers to clarify/reassure
P MUCH, as both a commission artist as well as an adopt artist, I am 100% okay with people reselling adopts to include the price of commissioned artwork. My goal, is that no one PROFITS from my work. So long as no profit is being made, I am totally alright with breaking even and regaining back money paid when giving your adopt to another.
That being said, please make sure to respect the ToS's of others. If an adopt artist is not comfortable with their adopt being resold to include the price of commissioned work by me, don't do it. If another commission artist is not comfortable with their commissions being figured into the price when reselling one of my adopts, don't do it.
Another tidbit I'd like to put out there--I've read that ToS changes do not apply unless your customers specifically agree to the changes. (Such as when websites change their ToS, and you have to click 'I agree' to them.) Please be understanding with your customers if they bought an adopt or art while certain ToS rules were in place, that they are only legally expected to follow those new rules if they have explicitly agreed to the changes. To customers, please be kind to your artists and make sure to regularly check ToS changes and follow them regardless. We work hard and make ToS's to protect not only ourselves, but you as well. It's very much appreciated and important that we all work together to respect each other as best we can. : )

Blakrye MYO Event Round 2 [closed]

I'm gonna slowly start putting everyone down on the list and getting back to ppl -- please stay patient with me, and if you'd like get your form ready!
In case you missed it, I am in the process of an unplanned move. It's proving to be not only very expensive, but also very time consuming. Since it's leaving me either with no time or too exhausted to work on any commissions, I'm doing a small Blakrye MYO opening.
This event's length is TBA, but will run at a minimum of 1 hour, and a maximum of 24 hours. (I don't know how many people will want a MYO slot, and I don't want it to get too overwhelming, so I may close it early....)
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CONSIDER AND READ EVERYTHING BEFORE CLAIMING A SLOT.

-Very light pastel hair, Pearl, Albino, and Super Fluff traits are OFF LIMITS
-Hair may have multiple colors for no additional cost, but must be over 50% the base color (e.g. Common blakrye with color streaks but over half remains black, etc.)

You have 48 hours to fill out the form and send payment after I have confirmed your slot--failure to do so will result in the loss of your slot NO EXCEPTIONS. You may, however, upgrade your MYO with rare traits and pay for those rare traits at anytime. (So if you buy a regular blakrye w/o any special traits, and three weeks later decide you want a pygmy, you can contact me and pay the $5 to upgrade.)
You may also switch your traits at any time up until I okay your MYO and add it to the approved MYO stash. This means, if for example you put on your form that you wanted fluff, but decide you want droop instead, you are free to switch.
Once your MYO has been approved and added to the Stash, you may no longer make edits. Please make sure you are 100% satisfied with your design before okaying it with me.

Heads up to commissioners -- some delays + slowing down??
Posted 10 years agoAh, I'm not typically one to complain and bring my private life here that often. But I'm going through a very stressful period right now, and so want to give a heads-up to my commissioners (and future commissioners over the next month), that there are likely to be delays and more slowness than is typical of me.
To my current commissioners who I've aimed to get their commissions done this week -- I will be working on them, but a few may leak over to next week. Hopefully this isn't an issue with anyone, as two weeks is typically still a good turn-around for commissions, righ?? /sweats
So that is mostly just a 'be aware of this' type announcement.
The rest of this is just a warning that I may not be as regular w/ my schedule and completing stuff on time over this next month, due to several personal reasons:
I am going to be in the process of moving (landlady is selling our apartment, so kicking us out -- it's not exactly planned and we've lived here four years now, so it's a bit stressful). This will probably cut into my 'work' hours, and I may even take on stuff early that can't be completed until next month. We'll see -- I will try to keep as on top of things and quick as possible, but please have patience with me. Art is my income so I WILL be doing commissions, it just might be a little.. messy, for me. @_@;
Another issue that's come up, that is the main reason I'm putting up delay warnings for my current batch, is that my roomie's 4yo cat (which he got when we moved here together) is probably gonna have to be put down monday or tuesday. My roomie and I have been trying to keep hope and get tests done to figure out and fix the problem, but it's going too slowly and our boy is quickly declining. They can't figure out what it is, and at this point it's starting to look like it might be too late. Not to mention the bills raking up;;;
(My roomie has had some help covering costs, but between that and moving, he's still desperate for funds -- he's open for commissions and has adopts up and stuff, if anyone has the time/extra money to consider helping him out // ScreamBoogeyman )
This is not only stressing me out, but also making me feel very sad, and my work suffers from that. I don't want to do poorly on anyone's commissions, and with all this on top of my birthday this weekend it's just... honestly, I am in a huge, stressful, unhappy ball of mess and I need to take a little extra time for myself than usual.
I mean, this journal may be entirely unnecessary! I'll still be doing commissions, and they may still be very frequent and completed quickly no problem. But I want to put this out there in advance, so in case anything comes up it's not unexpected. ;_;''
Regardless of whatever happens, I should NOT take longer than a month at the absolute latest to finish anyone's commissions.
But still, rough water in my seas, so please give me your patience.

These are NOT first come, first serve. You will fill out a form and reply to the correct comment, and either saturday night or sunday morning I will be choosing what I'll take on for the next week!

But I was idly chatting about the topic with a friend, and how destructive and harmful it is, and how long the scars can last, you know?

I saw Jurassic World the other day (p dang good btw), marathoned the new Orange is the New Black season (also p dang good), and am currently rewatching Supernatural cuz why the heckers not (which is honestly a little mediocre but eh what can you do).

A slight change to adoptable TOS

The first change, that you may sell adopts you received in a trade but ONLY equal to the price of works YOU have commissioned.
For example, if A bought an adopt, commissioned a piece of art, then traded it to B, B may only trade this adopt in the future, regardless of money spent on it by previous owners. However, if B later bought art of this adopt, they can then sell it for the price of that commission, or trade it/gift it.
The same applies for adopts of mine you received from me in trades.
The second change, regards any gifted adoptables. If I or another person gifts you one of my adopts, please do not sell/trade it. It is unfair to the giver, as well as myself. Please, any adopts you receive as a gift, only give away as a gift yourself.
I understand policing these policies is difficult, and I do not have the time to go around checking everything everyone does with my designs.
These changes are placed in faith and hopes of respect from my customers and supporters.
If for any reason you find these terms unreasonable, please do not purchase or take designs from me.
If I find my ToS broken in any way, please understand that you may result in being blacklisted depending on the offense.

Posted 10 years agoFirst off, I guess I should say that Sakura-con was successful and that I had a lot of fun! Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table and said hello! I really appreciated it!
But besides that, the con really took a lot out of me!
Which brings me to the point of this journal --
I want to apologize to those I still owe art, cuz I think I need a bit longer to complete everything.
I don't really know how other way to put it, except I realize I really need a good chunk of time to recover and get back in the swing of things. I am working on commissions, but it's going exceptionally slowly compared to what I planned. I'm having a hard time motivating myself to do anything beyond a couple commissions a week. Clearly I'm not going to make the original goal deadline for next week. --Though I guess I would think it's understandable; I spent last month drawing everyday, (on average probably 8-12 hours?) between commissions and preparing prints. Then the con itself which, okay, I admit I am a shut-in hermit, and that much socializing sucks me dry. x_x

All that said, I'll probably be in a sort of mini hiatus for the time being --only getting on to look up commission refs and reply to any notes commissioners send me.

But besides that, the con really took a lot out of me!
Which brings me to the point of this journal --
I want to apologize to those I still owe art, cuz I think I need a bit longer to complete everything.
I don't really know how other way to put it, except I realize I really need a good chunk of time to recover and get back in the swing of things. I am working on commissions, but it's going exceptionally slowly compared to what I planned. I'm having a hard time motivating myself to do anything beyond a couple commissions a week. Clearly I'm not going to make the original goal deadline for next week. --Though I guess I would think it's understandable; I spent last month drawing everyday, (on average probably 8-12 hours?) between commissions and preparing prints. Then the con itself which, okay, I admit I am a shut-in hermit, and that much socializing sucks me dry. x_x

okAY SO Sakuracon (april 3-5th) is coming up very quickly now and since it's my first time tabling at a con, not only am I extremely pressed for time trying to finish all the prints/merch I'll be selling, but I'm also a little scrunched for cash to order said prints and merch on top of covering rent and other living expenses for this month fjdlsd
So to compensate for this issue, I am going to be opening 10 speedpaint slots that will be completed /after/ con. More specifically between the dates of April 9th-23rd. (I will be out of town ~1st-6th and will need a day or two recovery after)
The catch for this, is that I will need each slot to be paid for by March 25th at the latest because, yes, I will probably be using this money to help buy prints/cover costs/etc.
I will be leaving some in my paypal for security, in case anything should come up/go wrong with a commission before I can complete it -- but please, dO NOT COMMISSION ME UNLESS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THIS.

Due to my tabling at Sakuracon this year, I will be extremely sparse on FA between now and April outside of certain working hours.
The schedule is as follows:
Mon-Thurs each week will be for commission work; I will be taking on 3 speedpaints from FA each week.
I will also make sure to check FA at least twice a day morning and night to answer any questions, reply to people, etc on those days.
Sometime between thursday and sundays, I will be trying to post some sort of adoptable batch every week to every other week between here or dA. I will also check messages/reply to inquiries on those days.
Thurs-Sun (besides the possible day where I post adopts) I will NOT be going on FA, or dA, or anywhere /closes eyes and takes a deep breath -- to ensure I stay focused on print, cosplay, and other important stuff.
I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause -- tbh it's a huge inconvenience to me, as well, but I really need to stay focused and I have a very terrible problem of f5ing FA, dA, etc about every 5-10 minutes. This is kinda an extreme resort to stop myself... from doing that... /falls down

Posted 11 years agoahh I am gonna test the waters with this! Especially since I have a lot of saving up to do in the next few months, and feel a few small MYO events could help lighten my load a little. ;w;

SB - $35; on a chibi style similar to in a couple of the examples
$75+; full body
$100+; includes custom character design with the outfit if desired
RULES:
Starting bid is $35, I'm not gonna add an AB on this cuz I've never done it before and honestly have no idea how it'll go! 8);;;
Minimum bid is $2, Paypal Only, SERIOUS BIDDING ONLY (I will suspend you from my next auction if you pull out for any reason)
Bidding will start now and end 24 hours from now, ~8:30 PM Pacific 1/19; payment must be sent within 24 hours, 30 min snipe guard
On bids <$100, I will design an outfit for your already existing character. So give me a character, I'll design an RPG outfit to your specifications!
On bids >$100, I will be willing to include a custom design completely! It can be any of my species minus high rarities, or it can be something custom and non-species entirely!

There are gonna be three spots, and you may bid on up to two at a time.
SB is $20, AB is $70
