Even if I give out the two and you want one, leave a comment and I'll check back with you when I have a new one. =3
What is Blue Sky?
It is pretty much like Twitter but you can control your feeds. All feeds are user-made so you can follow (obviously who you watch) Furry art, Neopets, birds, and whatever you fancy. You'll see the newest posts under those topics. Most of the art feeds filter out AI images, though I've not seen a whole lot of AI on the site yet. Being it's invite-only it's become more of an artist platform It's felt pretty friendly.
My Perosnal Experance:
I quite like it. Twitter always felt empty, If I post something random I get no reactions as the algorithm restricted me. With BlueSky, people who follow me actually see my posts and I've had more interactions. My posts are getting found in the feeds as long as I tag. I even found a feed for people who follow me so I can see what they are up to without following them. lol

Posted 2 years agoFirst off thanks everyone for the comments and condolences, they do help, I just didn't feel up to responding to everyone but I appreciated it.
Be warned, I'm talking about my cat's death and mourning. If you're not in the right head space for this, please don't read on. You can skip this journal.
I thought I would take some time to talk a bit more about what happened as my last message was vague because I couldn't think well but needed to just put it out there. It was just a really traumatic experience to go from having a normal cat to being tossed into you either needing a specialist to find out the real cause or put her down and the Specialist will probably have the same outcome. It's like everything I could tell at the time told me she needed to be put down. from what the doc was telling me to looking stuff up online. What they found was several high levels of whatever in her liver, then when they looked at it they found multiple lesions in her liver. They couldn't test if it was infection or cancer. Even if we got a specialist to figure this out, cats don't really bounce back from this well. So it's a 90% mortality rate. So there was no point in putting her through the testing and being moved between doctors while in pain from this. We were both there when they put her to sleep too. I felt a wave of sickness after that. as I said I threw up halfway home. Being home my mind was just mad and worried that I made the wrong choice and I put down a perfectly fine cat, I ended her, what if they were lying to us, kind of thoughts were filling my head. The next day my mother-in-law did some research on liver disease in cats and said if she was spewing like she was, the lesions were so big they were pushing on her intestines, and there is no fixing it at this point. So we made the right choice. We just didn't see any other symptoms before this. She was a reserved cat and liked doing things a cat in pain would probably do. She was lazy and slept in different locations. She never really liked to play. I think we were slightly aware that she had been wanting to play less than normal. She did puke a bit to concern me but we told our vet and he just shrugged it off. I'm am kind of thinking of going to a new place idk. we are not a big city so we only have two options unless we drive hours away.
Chris and I took a few days off. We had things around the place to do but had a hard time doing things, we wanted to just sit around and mess around on our phones being numb. The place just feels oddly quiet. As I said she was a reserved cat, and only really saw her around food time. But it's like a huge shift in the house and we don't like it. I wish I could tell Nari (our other cat) what happened. She seems to be acting like her normal self but we see her looking around for Malla sometimes. She has been a bit more clingy but not sure if she doing that because she sees how sad we are. Chris brought in Malla's career and she was freaking out wanting to inspect it. It broke our hearts.
I'm starting to get worked up talking about this and feel kind of dumb typing this up. I don't know if it's right to do or whatever.
I can say, We did our best to make sure Malla was a happy cat. Maybe there was more we could have done for her. but our vet always commented on how shiny our cat's fur is, saying that's a sign that they are happy and healthy. We try to play and keep them active and feed them the right foods to the best of our knowledge.
I feel bad talking about this? but we want to get a new cat. We don't like Nari, not having a buddy. But not sure when or if it's the right thing to do. Nari is about 8 years old. We read that you should wait 3 months for your other cat to settle out. That feels too long. We heard a co-worker say she had to get a new dog after 2 weeks because the quietness was driving her nuts, even though she has a husband and another dog with her. If anyone has advice on this I would be happy to hear it.

Posted 2 years agoSorry for the depressing journal. Today, we noticed Malla was puking all over the place this morning. Being Sunday, our vet was closed we took her to an emergency vet center about 45 mins away. They found she had a severe liver infection. We had to make a choice of ether finding a specialist to do a biopsy or put her to sleep. She only had about a 10% survival rate from this, was in pain and we didn't want to put her through more stress so we put her down. We really hated to make that decision. But feel it was best for her. I puked on the way home from the stress. I'm still not feeling well

One thing I noticed was before the trip. my wrist was really starting to hurt. and now feels normal. I think it's been getting more hurty this past year. I'm in my late 30s I'm getting more concerned about these things lol. I'm thinking maybe I do need to get more into doing more crafts to get me off the computer chair and working my wrist so much. Not saying I want to stop drawing but maybe split it up more. By craft, I mean plushies or fursuits.
I know I want to rework how I make feet. beyond that, I'm not sure if I should take on another fursuit commission or what. Would anyone be interested? Or even interested in a custom plush.

Getting better update
Posted 2 years agoThought I would keep you all up to date on my COVID status.
After my last journal, I developed some bad chest pains. I freaked out and went to the ER at 4am and they confirmed I'm not dying. The next day the pain went from a 6/7 to a 9/10. Every breath felt like being stabbed. I tried to reach out to my doctor, who is usually more responsive but they must be stupid busy over there. I talked to them the next day and found out I could be treating this with Ibiprofin. If only the ER would have let me know. They gave me a paper that had "tips" on how to deal with my chest pain. It was just like, eat healthy, loose weight, limit your workout, and asking your doctor when it's OK to have sex again. (I was laughing at that one)
But yeah, it was just my body stressed out from dealing with this for so long. I'm feeling better today. I feel my lymph nodes are still a bit aggravated. I'm still having some nasal drainage. I read online it could be doing that for weeks. I feel my energy is back up and I can get back into work again. I'll probably get more into work on Monday.

I got covid

The week before we took care of my mother in law. She got knee replacement surgery. I'm pretty sure she got exposed there and had it while we were there. The day we left she was feeling sick and tested positive. We tested twice on different days and were negative. But I got pretty sick and been dealing with it all week. Today I tested again and it was positive. I've never been sick this long before. Only two days were supper bad dealing with aches and hardly wanted to move or think. After that constant nasal drainage and feeling off. I'm feeling little better day by day though. It's just lingering.
Chris has felt just a bit sick and keeps testing negative. We don't know what to make of it.

Art Fight over!
Posted 2 years agoThey haven't announced the winning team yet, but the last time I saw the score, Werewolves were ahead.
I had a lot of fun with Art Fight! I'll be doing it next year and it's sparked me to actually flesh out reference sheets of my OCs more and maybe keep drawing a bit every night. But not too much. My hand did cramp up during the event and I keep a brake for a few days. lol
I was AMAZED at HOW MANY OC ARE ON THE SITE!! There are MILLIONS!, Actually, does the site say? No, it doesn't lol
I feel like I've only scratched the surface of what's out there. Everyone is so creative. I only wish I had time to just draw all the characters I bookmarked and for everyone who drew for me. XD
Oh yeah, It was also kind of scary drawing art for people. Like with commissions, I know what you want and looking for. But like I drew a sonic-looking character into my more furry style, then after a few days of them not responding, I was like SHIT SOME SONIC FANS HATE FURRIES WHAT IF THEY DID NOT WANT THE CHARACTER DRAWN THIS WAY!! @ n @;;; But then they responded and Loved it. Pretty much for all of them I was slightly, "Are they going to like this? Did I get the character right?" But everyone loved the art I drew for them. 💙
That was another thing I was afraid of doing this event and only a few people drew my OCs but I have 11 attacks, and in 3 group pics. When they kept coming in I was like, man, I need to step up my game. lol but no I wanted to do some really fleshed-out pics. that takes a lot of time. XD I like the mix.
It was fun seeing what others drew for me. I don't get to order a lot of art myself and sometimes get a bit jealous of my commissioners 💙. So it was really nice getting art from people. I loved it. Thanks to the people who attacked me! XD (seems like a funny thing to say without context lol)
I wanted to do an Art Fight stream where I have chat help me pick who to draw next. But I got behind on commissions so I had to focus on my work. Art Fight distracted me a bit but mostly I've been having some bad ADD lately, I changed up some meds and have not been getting a lot of sleep lately.
So yeah, I'll be doing this next year. I might be poking around to browse OCs because it's fun lol I've found a few more people to watch.

Jack of all trades, master of none?
Posted 2 years agoI was watching some videos on YT about getting commissions. One said don't be the Jack of all Trades because then people don't know what to order from you. I can say I'm one of those that just like to draw everything. Humans, fantasy creatures, robots, furries, animals, lawnmowers, At KC's You Got It! Like I can see that people with more human OCs tend to not order from me but I've put my foot in the door with merfolk. Thanks to my Merman club on DA/Discord. I think only recently my human art has been looking more on par with my furry art too. (I've been working on it) But like, I can't imagen only doing one or the other. I get bored if I draw the same thing over and over again. So I get a bit excited when one of the oddities comes my way. I know I've had a few commissioners have a friend ask them, "I can't find an artist that draws (insert species)" and I get recommended. (I love you guys ) So I feel like Jack of all Trades works for me and I wouldn't want to change that. For the "Master of None" I don't even know if I would master anything if I did stick to one thing. lol I'm just doing what makes me happy and to support myself. I love drawing for you all and always hope I can continue.
Anyway, That was just me thinking. Thanks for reading if you did, I never know if people like this kind of journals or if they make me look weird or whatever. IDK.

Updates and Art Fight vs Commissions
Posted 2 years agoFirst I wanna say, Art Fight I'm working on it after my work time so it's not getting in the way of commissions. The only thing that might happen is I might take a stream day to feature Art Fight but that's it.
That being said I'm having a crap week for art in general. Chris had Monday and Tuesday off for the 4th of July. We spent days going out places and didn't really do anything for the holiday because not... meh. I don't wanna get into things here lol
All the major house construction stuff is done. We have the lower half sealed and wrapped, a new sub-pump, and the trees trimmed up. We've been trying to figure out seeding all the dirt in our yard but it looks like the best time to do it is in the fall? so I guess our neighbors get to enjoy the look of our mud moat. XD But some of the original grass is starting to grow through the mud so maybe it won't be as bad.
Because of all the construction going on, we didn't mow the lawn for a month. Why bother if we have big dirt piles, heavy vehicles driving all over it, and it's not been raining much so it wasn't growing besides the weeds? But now it's all over with and it's been raining more. So I mowed it yesterday and nearly overworked and overheated myself. It got in the way of me working at today I'm fatigued from it all. My muscles hurt, tired, and my eyes are all scratchy and not focusing. = w =;
I had a mask on but I need to get some eye ware. I have bad allergies to it.
So over all this is just a slow week for me in art in general. I always feel bad when this happens because then commissions are off a week and worry about people getting irritated waiting so long. I know it's right to give people an estimate on time when I'll get to it but it also stresses me out when I can't meet those estimates because of crap going on IRL. I think I've only had one person really upset at me in the past for it. Most of you are awesome and understanding. It's mostly just self-wanting to stay professional and on top of things. I really love and care about what I do here. I don't wanna drive people away because I had a bad week offline. I also don't want to work on art if I'm too out of it and deliver poor quality even if the art is in the final stretches of being done. Sorry, I feel like I'm rambling.
Back to Art Fight, I'm really having fun with it. I don't normally get to buy art myself so getting the attacks are fun to see. I almost have my second picture done. I let Chris pick out the next character. He is not joining but he made an account to look around for characters for me. He was having a bit of fun with that lol
I admit searching OCs is a lot of fun. People are so imaginative and creative. It's mind-blowing to think of how many characters are out there. Like I've drawn a lot with my commissions here but it's just the tip of the iceberg of what's out there. If I had nothing better to do and didn't worry about money I would just sit her drawing as much as I could lol
I'll probably join again next year. I'll have to try to make a point of working on better reffs of my characters.
Oh yeah.. Next year is ...... my.... um... 40th birthday.. (embarrassed by how old I am) >////<;;;;
I still feel like a young adult (and look like one tbh). I'm not sure if it's going to happen, but even though my birthday is March 1st. There is nothing great to do around that time of the year. So I'm kind of considering going to Anthro Con and in general visiting Pittsburgh as they have a lot of interesting museums and the Zoo. I would be just at the con to attend for fun, maybe one day. So I wouldn't be getting an artist table. Might try and get my Komory bat fursuit done if things continue to do well. And yes, the past few months have been more back to normal for commissions so I've been happier. =3

Printer not working right, no more sticks and badges.
Posted 2 years agoI was super happy to get an order for mermay stickers, but the printer is not printing right. So I have to close down the print-on-demand things until either we fix it or buy a new printer and we don't have the money to buy a new one or send it in with all the other things going on (read up about it in the "what's been going on..." or "House Update" journals).

It's doubling up the black like going horizontal.
We've tried auto and manual adjustments, New and legit (>_>;;) ink cartage, Auto and deep cleaning, and various program settings. Nothing seems to work.
We think it's the printer head. Maybe one of you knows more about these things, you can give me feedback on this lol
We don't have money to spend on sending it in or a new one. If I knew the shop was going to do well, I would just get a new printer but with all the other expenses going on right now. I'm just going to stop for now.

House Update
Posted 2 years agoI'll keep you updated on this stuff since I know some of you are probably interested.
We talked with another neighbor across the street and apparently, he was the one who helped with the previous water issues. He confirmed that the pump had gone out and he replaced it. He also said he had to do a LOT of tweaking to get it to work. Soooo We might replace the whole thing. XD Other people have looked at it and said, "It's not great? But it works?"
We finally heard back from a lawyer if we should take that route and said we probably don't have enough evidence to get the outcome we want and it would not be worth the cost. So well forget that and just deal with the issues.
We've done a lot of research online to figure out the best way to fix the leaking. It's hard because most of these guys are just trying to sell you on a product and it's hard to get what is the correct solution. The one I quoted-ish in the last journal was the most expensive they wanted to do EVERYTHING under the sun for the money. We've met with someone who wants to do thing things we feel we need from what we've researched and they can do it at a more affordable cost. Still don't want to be spending the money. They want to dig a trench around the place, wrap it and put in new drain tile. But that's not all of it. They will be removing the walkway to the front door and We need to pay to have someone temp remove the AC/heating unit.
After that's all fixed, we need to fix the downstairs. We need new flooring down there, but I think we might patch up the walls and try to clean the floors as best we can and move stuff back down there. It's a cement floor but it has carpet glue all over it. We can deal with it for a year, then next year we can see if the spring rains bring in more water. If not we want to tile the downstairs. We felt that would be best if another leak happened.
The reason we're not fixing up the floor is that the house still needs a bit of a facelift. The siding needs a bit of patching and to be painted. We knew this when we bought the house and assumed that's all it needed. v n v;
So far, owning a house sucks but at least I don't have the stress of my parents anymore. I can say that's a nice trade-off. I'm sure when we iron out these problems, things will be better. (knocks on wood)
Oh yeah, I worked a bit slow this week. I got sick. Not like flu sick but like. We got a push mower. I have never used one before. My parents had a big lawn so we had a riding lawn mower. But yeah. I overworked my muscles doing this and for some reason, I get supper fatigued the next day. Muscles ached and I felt nauseous. It was only a one-day thing. I hope I can get past this as you need to mow a lawn about weekly. XD;

What's been going on...

As some of you know, we just bought a house early this year. The house was move in ready and we were under the impressions that all we needed to do was fix up the outside a bit. But after some heavy rains we found water seaping into the lower half of our split leve house. We started ripping out floor boards and siding to let it dry and hopes that mold wouldn't grow. We then found more on the other side of the room so now a 3ed of our place is unusable. We've been having a lot of people come over to look at it and slowly get back to us. Everyone has their own way of wanting to fix it and more like trying to sell us on something then what will actually fix it. It's looking like it might be up to $300 a month to get this fixed. We don't really have that kind of money. We are also looking into if we need to do legal actions being they didn't disclose this.
On top of that my commissions last year use to be around 20 commissions constantly. Sence fall the commissions slowed down and I'm lucky to have a few eatch week. I want to believe this is because of the recession and not me. But the longer it goes the more I can't look at myself and think where did I go wrong or is my art not what people like anymore? I'm trying not to dwell on these thoughts. But they kind of slip in. I've been working really hard to tighten up my anatomy and stuff but maybe I need to be more stylized? IDK.
I probably feel more secure about the seapage stuff if my commissions were going last year. But it is what it is. I'm going to get though this some how.
