Our landlord is making things really hard for us. We're going to pack up and leave over the next 3 days. (Probably be able to set up again on Saturday evening if all goes well.)
The current commissions will NOT be delayed. I gave them extra time on the completion date just in case we had to leave like this.
The Dreamo/Sephren YCH collab is nearly done, just needs a final touch-up and look-over. That should get posted tonight.

Demon is interesting .. it'll turn you into a humanoid demon, any gender. If you want a specific body type, please say so -- otherwise I'll be going off your fursona's type.

-Savage drop (Makes them angry and vicious!)

-Reptile scale (makes them more reptilian)

I don't actually know if I updated everybody on what's up in our lives.
So, Jux (my partner), is officially not working anymore. This is great; he's already seeming better in some ways, mental-health wise.
This means I'm literally working all day, every day, to try and make enough to pay our ridiculous bills. (3 mortgages, rent, etc). Most of you already know this gets better at the end of April, when one of our mortgages gets paid off. So close! :D
What's new? One of our rental houses has mold, apparently (yikes!), so our tenants are moving out. That means I have to make an extra $1200/mo that I wasn't making before. I thought things were tight before, now they're quite seriously insane.
Doing well, though. Doing the best we can here. I have slots open and we'll do the best we can, and if it's not enough, we'll find a way. I'll be working on tattoos in the meantime and of course, finishing up my fursuit queue.
We're waiting to see if he gets on EI for medical leave, for being not mentally sound enough to continue his work. This would be tremendously helpful, but I'm not counting on it. We'll see what happens.
In the meantime, I truly wish I could help everybody who's having trouble right now, but I literally can't even spend an extra dime. We're eating lots of oatmeal and potatoes. XD We'll get there, though!

I'm also doing $10 chibi slots, which are fully painted and come with two expressions. Just kind of a fun experiment; not really trying to sell a whole lot of them right now. They're not listed right now but there's an example in my gallery of the two pokemon chibis on the grey background.

Speedpaint slots are back open.
(We just learned that our rental house has mould.. so we're out another $1200/mo, which is why these slots are open)
The remaining art trades and pieces on my queue are being completed one at a time, one per day.

New account / Commission Update / Free!

I'd like you all to know, I am *slowly* moving over to SephrenDemon (same icon, different account.)
The reason?
I made this username when I was 13. It doesn't reflect my gender, and actually creates a lot of issues.
Please know -- I'll be uploading a lot of old and kind of shitty art over there while I'm catching up. But some of it hasn't been posted yet.
I *truly* value each and every person here who's watching me. Especially so, since I'm going to be doing this for a living very shortly. So, anybody who transfers over to watch me over there, when I finally make the move, will be entered in a draw to win free art. I'm not sure what kind, yet, but it'll be good.
I'll let everybody know when I'm actually planning on transferring permanently; feel free to wait if you don't want to see old (and some yet unposted) submissions re-uploaded.
If anyone is interested in doing me a new icon for the new account, I'll do a feature from my new account to get you a bit more traffic. :D You don't have to be a pro -- just let me know if you're interested and we can figure out an idea. :) I can only pick one person, though!

I'll be working full-time as an artist starting on the 23rd. I plan to FULLY clear my current queue, and then take a few commission slots on a day-to-day basis to be completed within a few days.
I'm still planning on taking *one* single fursuit commission to be completed over approximately a year, but this is more for my own fun and recreation than for profit.
Oh, I guess you already know -- that means Jux (my partner) *IS* quitting his job. Better to struggle financially and do the best I can as an artist, than to wear down his soul at such an awful job. I'll be doing my best to take care of him while he recovers.
Thanks again, so much, for everything. You guys are all awesome and I truly enjoy being here with you.

This is the beginning of me being able to keep my partner, Jux, home from his job, so I'm going to be doing the highest quality work I can possibly do for you guys and will be working almost nonstop, every day. These commissions will be done after the current ones are complete.

Funny to do this on new year's. It wasn't really intentional.
Anyways, two things:
First, most of you know I'm going through a lot right now with my partner's depression. I just wanted to say that if I'm distant, or forget to reply to notes, or am just not around as much as I normally am, please forgive me. It's not you. If I forget notes, or old trades, just remind me. Things are rather mentally draining. If I didn't reply to recent words of encouragement or anything, please know they ARE appreciated. Some of you have given really solid advice lately and if nothing else it helps me power through. Knowing people are here and have my back, are willing to be real friends, helps a lot.
Second, he's on what I hope is is last four night shifts, including tonight. We have a mental health appointment on the 8th. If we can get on medical EI for a while (employment insurance), well.. great; I'll need to make up a bit of lost income with commissions to cover our insane house bills, but that'll be good. I'll be focusing 100% on any remaining commission stuff, and working towards actively tattooing for a reliable income.
If he doesn't get on medical leave, I'll have a LOT of funds to make up. I imagine I'll probably work on tattoos all I can, and in the meantime possibly take on more commission work on the side, possibly fursuits. We'll make due until May, somehow, when our bills will be less. Honestly, I'm not sure what we'll do. He will NOT go back to work, though, or keep working this job; I outright refuse to allow him to kill himself for money. He'll be staying home after this, no matter what. It'll be my responsibility to work my ass off doing whatever I can as an artist to make money. There's no way I can make enough at a regular job, and he needs me here to back him up. It'll be tough as hell and probably the most frightening thing I've ever done, to be completely financially uncertain of my future and to be working 100% on art to fuel our basic needs and huge bills, but it's also a fair challenge and I aim to punch my way through it.
So, I wanted you to know that things may change drastically. I don't know what it means yet to us, but I know I'll be busy as hell no matter what. If I leave without warning, know we may be in the middle of a move or something and I hope to be back as soon as I can. Commissions are my top priority; I work on them every night with all my free time. I may run into a situation where I just can't get on FA that much, either to rest my wrist or my mind, or just because I might lack actual time to do so.
We also are considering moving to the West Coast (Vancouver BC area), likely to live with my oldest brother and share a house -- we could all use the familiar company and support. The main reason for going out there would be to have more population to find real friends within. We're introverted and shy, and we're currently in a very cliquey town and the queer scene here is very difficult to get into. (Not that we need queer friends, it's just automatically people that we might find ourselves more at ease with. Y'know. We'd also have more opportunity to ditch the vehicle and bike more places. Lots of reasons for that, mainly financial, mental and physical health. This town is awful for biking anywhere. It's also warmer out there. If we do move, it likely won't be until around May as we'll have more free cash by then.

To the people doing amazing random acts of gifting .. there's nothing that lifts me up more than people taking THEIR time out of their busy lives to do something that is meant as a gift, just for me.. that's incredible. What an incredible feeling, every time. You guys bring me to tears, you don't even know. It's amazing.. <3
To everybody who has a nice thing to say about my work; who's ever given me a much-needed boost of confidence no matter how small. I'm not a confident person by nature and I've been beat up a lot, but hearing kind words from strangers and from those who have quickly become my friends.. well, it makes life easier. A lot.

We had to actually make a few extra categories to accommodate everything, and even then he had a really tough time deciding. Just an update.. things were going decently, more or less (read: we were scraping by), but this last week's been just one really stupid thing after another.
I've NEVER had financial trouble in my life; this year's just been awful.
So anyways, we took our truck in to get the heater fixed, which should have been around a $200-300 fix. (We had just spent around $2000 on this stupid thing to get it to actually work properly about two months ago.) Yea, we can't really afford it, but we can't really drive around in the fucking Canadian winter, either. So we sucked it up and took it in.
Turns out it (supposedly) needed about $1200 worth of fixes so it wouldn't explode, so we paid that. AND THE HEATER STILL DOESN'T FUCKING WORK. They were supposed to call me today to book me in to get it fixed up again for free, but they didn't. Fuckers. I guess I'll call them tomorrow and figure out why they didn't call me back. Or I'll molotov their shop, I don't know yet.
Anyways, most of you know our one set of tenants hasn't paid since May. (They owe over $9000, but we can't really kick them out because there are no other renters in that town right now so we just hold onto the hope that they'll start paying again now that they say they have jobs. They did pay us $300 not super-long ago so that's a start.). So there's that.
But now, we've spent all this time thinking that we'd get back about $4000 from the government once we filed our other T4 slip (which was missing because our employer went out of business, and we couldn't get ahold of them in any way to get this fucking thing sent to us). So, we finally have that T4 now after tracking the bastards down for months, and also finally got the fucking government codes sent in the mail to get online and change our return, only to find out that the government already reassessed our taxes and is saying we owe over $1200. (I forgot the actual number at this point because I'm not dealing with that tonight; it can wait until tomorrow.)
I'm having a really hard time, Fenris, not taking the Lord's name in vain for you as that's my go-to angry curse library. FUCK.
I was going to get by doing just enough commission work while doing tattoos to keep Jux at home a little sooner, so he's not so depressed/suicidal,but now it seems we really just have to tough it out until May when one of our mortgages is complete and hopefully by that time I'll be tattoing. I just hope I can make his life good enough that he's OK that long.
So now really the only thing I can do is just finish up my current commission list and not take any more unless I need small things that we can't afford, because our only solid hope is for me to get really good at tattooing and start actually making money as soon as possible. It's not like I have all day for this shit; we can't afford daycare as I guess some of you know we have a daughter, so it's me who's home all day with her now. That's why I'm only online in the evenings and my art output has slown to a bare crawl. Just busy all day. Every day.

Also if you wanna draw really quick shitty sketches of Sephren crushing skulls and tossing blood everywhere and getting shot full of arrows or whatever, that would actually probably make me feel kind of better. Or like eating taxes or being REALLY ANGRY or something. I don't know. But don't do something more than a stupid sketch or I'm gonna feel bad that you're taking time on me when I really just would like some company to tell me that everything sucks sometimes.
I'm not really an easily angered person but I'm pretty pissed off that we have to struggle so hard to even just get by right now. Imagine how many less-well-off-than-us people just can't get through the government and societal bullshit and are losing their homes or whatever because they can't make the system work for them.
I'd already be vehicle-less and biking everywhere and foraging for most of our food if it wasn't so FUCKING COLD IN THIS COUNTRY and the biking in this city is absolutely stupidly treacherous as the roads are all fucking highways full of people who don't even understand the concept of a 4-way stop. I'm not a rage driver but I had to actually honk at some dumbass the other day who seriously did not understand that it was not his turn to go, not even in the slightest, and he almost crashed into me had I not abruptly stopped midway into my very casual turn. The guy was behind another TWO people that were supposed to go before him and he was like, nah, bro, I'm just gonna go straight.
Seriously considering relocating to a place we can actually bike and just seeing if I can make ends meet that way. If his job didn't pay so much I'd do it right now. I'm not really an easily angered person but I'm pretty pissed off that we have to struggle so hard to even just get by right now. Imagine how many less-well-off-than-us people just can't get through the government and societal bullshit and are losing their homes or whatever because they can't make the system work for them.
I'd already be vehicle-less and biking everywhere and foraging for most of our food if it wasn't so FUCKING COLD IN THIS COUNTRY and the biking in this city is absolutely stupidly treacherous as the roads are all fucking highways full of people who don't even understand the concept of a 4-way stop. I'm not a rage driver but I had to actually honk at some dumbass the other day who seriously did not understand that it was not his turn to go, not even in the slightest, and he almost crashed into me had I not abruptly stopped midway into my very casual turn. The guy was behind another TWO people that were supposed to go before him and he was like, nah, bro, I'm just gonna go straight.
Seriously considering relocating to a place we can actually bike and just seeing if I can make ends meet that way. If his job didn't pay so much I'd do it right now. I'd also consider moving in with some people if that came up but it's too draining to even look right now; we'll just maintain what we're doing as best we can until we can figure out a better way.

Posted 10 years agoSo we might as well wrap this up while we're getting things all wrapped up. As an update, I'll be working on commissions over the coming weeks to completely free up my schedule for other things.
We have room for 4 (or more, if that happens!) entries for this contest that's been going on a long while, before we wrap it all up and do judging prizes and raffle prizes! So, even if you don't think you can out-art some of these awesome guys, you still have a shot at some sweet raffle prizes. And who knows, maybe he'll like your design the best! : )

Wanted to give you an update as I know I haven't been online very much -- just busy making changes that will hopefully improve things with my partner and his not-very-good state recently.
To anyone waiting on commissions, know that I've been working on them a little each night; the majority of them are nearly finished. (Aside from the fursuit heads and the monthly images for my wonderful friend Areyath -- those will come in a while.)
So, it's pretty clear that the free fursuit idea didn't work out. I was surprised -- I really thought it would; I was ready to put myself essentially into slavery for months to get where we needed to be but I'm surprised it didn't work out. Whether it was just something that seemed too good to be true, or the idea that most people just don't have 200+ kicking around per month for an eventually free fursuit, it doesn't really matter. That ship won't sail, so we'll be trying to work around this other ways until I can make things right.
A lot of you very kind people have been trying to offer help financially -- I've already addressed most of these messages, but for everyone else -- it's not really money that we need; it was enough per month to be able to have him quit his job and give me time to start making money doing tattoos to support us both. Because we were unable to make that work, I'll be looking at other solutions. Right now, it's looking like I may have to quit my apprenticeship. Either way things go, I'll let you guys know. But regardless, please don't think we need financial aid -- we don't. I'll eventually open a few select commissions here and there to afford my tattoo equipment, but aside from that, please don't be attempting to send us money for no reason -- seriously. Keep it; you probably need it.
For everyone with kind and supportive words lately -- thank you, seriously. Thank you so much. I tend to get anxious when under a lot of stress, and negative messages make things almost unbearable in my place of comfort, which is among all you people. So for everyone who's been helping and doing gift art and being just generally amazing friends, seriously -- thank you, so much. I'm not sure I can express just how much better it makes one feel in the morning to come on to such wonderful friends.

This is an art contest to create a version of my partner's character, Shark. This is based off the description only -- don't try to use anyone else's image as a reference because we'll know! We want YOUR take on it!
He's suppose to be kind of like a cute, vacant-eyed monster looking guy; probably kind of fluffy like a fox or something.

but his eyes are kind of blank; maybe solid black or white. Often have no pupil. Sometimes they might have starts inside, like the universe. However you like.

He's got big hand-like wings with no membranes on his back, just looks like skinny hands with long fingers and claws. (Black)
