how rude, or?
Posted 13 years agoI find I've been posting a story on Raccoon's Bookshelf where should have (formally) asked permission from authors of characters I use.
That is bad form, since Max Blackrabbit certainly replies on such requests.
The issue is a little less obvious for authors such as EWS. He's known to disregard such requests, he simply out he doesn't want you to make money on his creations.
Same for the author of the ZZ Studios stories, James Bruner, but he requests one to ask for permission.
The author who gave me a broad OK was Chris Foxx, that leaves: EWS (how?), Max (I think I mess that up) and specifically James Bruner.
Yes, it gets really convoluted if you use Zig Zag, James, Doug, Kelly, Tabitha and Richard in one story. I for one won't ever try that again, and I am hoping to get one or two OKs.

the end of ZZ?

Photns 3
Posted 14 years agoThere out there somewhere... How to grab a bushel of them and steer them, that is the trick. Elusive buggers, those photons.
Darn, sometimes I just hate lasers and their quirks.

Photons 2
Posted 14 years agofunny things, those little packages of energy, weaving and squirming through the endless void we call our world.
Why photons in a furry site? Actually, there's more that binds them than meets the eye: a furry can't be 'seen' unless one immerses in their world. Photons are as seemingly uncontrollable as fursons are and show as many behaviors can be found in furries.
Yep techtalk.
(Note to self:
Things are working, all across the board.
Success-rate of 95%, staggering performance, way beyond expectation!
Verified repro of 0.15nm 3sigma.
...being 'over the moon' is a state of mind and I now know it.
Yeah!)

How do describe oneself?
Posted 15 years agoNote to myself:
A guy I've know all my life said,
'I've got those mesmerizing steel blue eyes and I'm a good looking man.'
'She pulled her hand through my hair, and vexed the other, then another girlfriend looked at me displeased.'
'Small wonder they were quiet until we reached Switzerland.'
I still wonder what he sees when he looks in the mirror!

Photons
Posted 15 years agoAll those neat little high energy photons, cruising down a mind-boggling mirror system in vacuum until it finds a silicon wafer...
... bringing you the next generation of memories. Yes, ladies and gentle furs, this thing is going to work and Moore's Law lives.
And so I predict, within two years: 1 Tbyte for the price of today's 32Gbyte.
The semiconductor industry is going to go where no one has imagined we would ever be.
Intel, Samsung and IBM, get your experts out, make something with this awesome, new technology!

The stage is set
Posted 15 years agoThe Old Gray Raccoon, mjriv1 edits and posts my story on his RaccoonsBookshelf about a squirrel named Cyril. Last Saturday the pivotal chapter-set was posted. The stage is now set for the lives of all involved to be molded and pushed around by fate.
If you're interested in Tabitha or Zig Zag, this would be a time to dig in!

Posted 15 years agoHow many days until EUR 1 = 1 $ ?
What will it bring?
Posted 15 years agoWhile the financial market does not know what do to with the euro (or the EU), the UK elections show that country needs two to tango.
These guys are eager... we'll see how that round of cuts is going to come out!
I wonder if, looking back in some 50 years, this time is rated tranquil or turmoil.

Thank you day
Posted 15 years agoToday, I think of a time long past.
At 8PM I recall my father.
Not because he died today, nor because it was his birthday.
Today, I think of the thing that me impressed on me most:
We are free. Enjoy freedom to think and do according to what our kind, in this little plot believes is sensible and just.
For that, people died. Many people. My father had no family left, they did not escape the destruction that we remind ourselves of this day.
My father is not around anymore to take these two minutes of reflection seriously. But I am, and I will.
I think about it, for him, for me, for his family that he grew up without.
And, today, I think about those who die now, yesterday.
In the name of freedom, in lands faraway.
Those people have my gratitude as well as those who freed my country. They earn a place in my mind, not only in those two minutes. Always.
Even Fur Affinity exists because it can in this world, these lands, this internet.
Boys and girls the allied armies and UN forces, all over the world.
Thank you, you are not forgotten.

Posted 15 years agoHigh speed trains are f u n.
At 300 km/h the experience, travelling on a train, is improved from dull to fun.
Gimme a ICE, TGV, Shinkansen anyday. Hurray.
I'm going to need to travel on a maglev train!

Speed of light
Posted 15 years agoTime flies. Things that appear impossible, become uncertain, move on, solidify and take shape.
When metal appears, leads combine and computers hooked up to same realization dawns. Air is removed and in the end I wait. For the light which only needs to pass through.
Photons can set me free or shackle me.
Oh, the suspense that is claiming me!
Luckily all this evaporates when I see two active rabbits while I cycle home. Rabbits rock. (Back and forth, actually).

Today, someone mentioned to me (don't get mad a me, I'm just paraphrasing ...): 'Americans are like Germans, they just don't seem to get it [the goverment] to work.'
This from one, who was trying to get the US tax office to accept his letter showing he had paid 0 tax (was doing a PhD) in order to be officialy allowed to leave the country (to go back to Germany ).
