I'M JUST AS SAD AS YOU ARE DON'T WORRY

I love dicking around on FA as much as anyone else, but I've had shit to focus on,
and I hope any friendships or contactpeoples haven't suffered for it.
I hope you're all doing well~

I should be back as soon as finals are over and winter break allows me time
between work to catch up on submissions, do some Stepmania stuff like I've been wanting, and Skyrim.

Skyrim.

Anyway, just a few more weeks, guys! I really gotta buckle down and do well on school stuff,
even though there's so many outside distractions I feel like I'd overall get more enjoyment out of.
Anyone have any tips on how to just focus?
I'm already pretty good at locking myself in a room, but maybe I should cut off the internet or something.

Remember my coworker whose sexuality I questioned earlier?
Turns out he's already questioned it himself, along with his faith, and had come out as gay to several close friends before "finding the light" a few years ago.

Now, I have nothing against people who say they have changed and are saved, but it does make me wonder why they would deny themselves that much for the sake of one absolute power over them.

That's not what this journal is about, though. Nobody wants to argue about religion.

Similarly, my manager at work openly admits to have been heavily into pot and possibly other drugs during high school and up until he got married, but he's completely turned around and is a pretty awesome guy. He's got an amazing talent for imitating voices and characters perfectly, he's gotten into sports, which he had zero interest in before, and is a moderate Christian.

It just makes me wonder where I'll be in three years, five years, twenty years.
It's pretty much impossible to tell what'll change.

I was browsing the whole, wide internet just now, and I found myself idly navigating to FurAffinity, my favoritest of websites.
I was about to click the little box that said "You have 4044 new messages ( 3715S, 329J )" when I realized something.

The art on the front page was worth looking at today.
I had stumbled into a temporal impossibility, where none of the art on the FurAffinity main site was shitty, disturbing, Sonic or ponies (well, there was one pony, but it was decently drawn).
All of the stories and poetry (lol) were crap, and the music looked bland as usual, but the art was good.

In other news, Savannah made the national news last week, for a case I'm sure you guys have opinions on. Share them preez?

His family is very (very) religious and so is he, and that's likely to have a lot to do with it.
I play it off as funny, but it's always kind of unfortunate to see situations like this, and not being able to do a whole lot about it.
He's been working with me about a month, and I certainly don't want to mess up a really fun and pleasant work relationship. Who knows, though? Maybe he's straight and just likes a lot of things that gay people like.

What do you guys think?

I'm probably about to go reeeal quiet on the ol' interwebs for a while.

I've messed up pretty badly these last two semesters, and I need to take time to fix that. FA is an enormous distraction for me - I'll spend hours at a time here doing nothing of any worth whatsoever. Kind of like regular people and Facebook. So I guess you could say that FA is my Facebook. That's...kinda bad, ehehe.
Currently I've got about 1200 submissions and 550 journals backed up in my inbox, and when it gets to this point, I do usually take a block of time to clear it all out (because I love you guys just thiiiiiis much <3) so if you posted something important, there's a good chance I read it/saw it at some point or another, and just deemed it too late to comment.

This doesn't mean I'm abandoning you guys! If I've just recently met you, and you live far away, please, keep in touch! I love talking with everyone through here/Facebook/my phone, and I'll still always be on messengers, so I guess you could say:
I'm not leaving the internet, I'm just letting it rule my life a little less. Priorities, you know.

I still want to keep up some independent projects, but I've been watching One Piece in marathon-mode for so long now that I forgot what most of them are hahaha erp

About the Savannimals meets: I'll make a post over there as well, so check that out if it concerns you, but basically I'm going back to simply organizing the First Saturday on River Street events. Those are fun, simple to get everyone together for, and when the weather turns cooler, comfortable for everyone as well.

I guess that's about it! I am still waiting (rather impatiently at this point) for a few things to get done on here, but for the most part I will try to be distracted by important things.

OKAY SO THINGS ARE HAPPENING AROUND HERE
It's hot as balls here, which can be said for most of you regardless of actual location, but us? We got humidity. It's like it should be raining. And it's not. And heat tends to make furries not want to do anything. And I kinda miss everyone, lol


We have THREE GUYS working at the coffee shop now. It's like a total relief for our manager, who had been the lone male among 10 other employees. He's married, so this really isn't as great a thing as you'd think, hahaha. It's just a regular ol' Dude Fest up in thurr now!


I...have been incredibly lazy with school stuff. But after running back and forth about four times to try and take a Chinese course at another school via the exchange program, I'm finally almost there. Just one more back-and-forth, and then spending a lot of money on textbooks, and I should be ready for the semester. I was on FA a hell of a lot this summer, and I neeeeeed to cut back. After completely failing last semester, I gotta do well this time. Also no more cons probably until FWA for the same reason.

It really makes a difference who you're with at conventions.
They're definitely no fun alone, but even the small things like who you travel down with or stay with in a room have an impact on how you remember it. This was nothing but good memories.
I gotta give shoutouts to and though, it was great having friends I can trust by my side for nearly the entire weekend.

If I started listing the fun moments of this con, i swear i'd have a minute-by-minute replay of the entire thing.

and even saying that, I keep thinking of things I should mention here while I'm trying to go to bed

Poolcon 2011 was tight. And I'm not talking about the tiger briefs.

I met up with so many awesome people this con! ;w; THIRD CON EVER, I'D SAY I'M OFF TO A GOOD START.
I won't lie, I was in the background most of the time, but the things that really stand out are when I was with people who I truly had fun with.
Thing about cons is, it's not about the art, or what the latest drama is, but the people you meet, and the good time you inevitably end up having.

The ups always balance out the downs. I'll always hold to that, no matter how bad the con experience is. Not that this was bad in any way - for a spontaneous decision to go, I had the best time I'd had in a while!

SO. Let the name-dropping and icon-splashing begin.

Rode down and back up with  therapetor and  badkittyamy, who made up for my lil' quiet tiger self by being loud, raunchy and hilarious prtymch the entire way. iluguys.

The first night I met up with  rewty and  ginjackal on a spontaneous game of Munchkin (YEAH WE'RE DORKS. KTHX.), and I didn't know it was them until they mentioned they were from around Savannah!
Things escalated to awesome shortly after. We hung out in  fen-fen and  bucketochicken's room (oh yeah, i slept there. Thanks guys!) a lot, and even though they spent all Saturday in the artist room, we still managed to have a great time!

 turlough69 is a great friend as always (What am I talking about, I only met him at FWA! But it feels like I've known him forever. Thanks for being awesome.), and thanks to him, I started talking to  nevaroblackfang,  ssirrus and  f0xt0dd even though it was really really hot outside hjsjhdjfdjks.

Another incredible person I met at FWA this year,  angelous27 was at Elliott's, and introduced me to  mazzylepus, a brand-spanking-new addition to the fandom, and a great person all around. Sorry for being a bit awkward, I really did have a great time hanging out around ya. <3

 vitaislade was there with them, and he was a lot of fun to be around in general. Saw him all over the con, and he even made it into the GAFurs party in suit! (More on that soon. >:3)

As far as GA Furs go, there's Ulf, fourthebear, feartree, and arcthecollie, who are all wonderful people. I hope to see you guys at the party this summer! Speaking of parties....

Oh man, the party hosted on Saturday was incredible. I dressed up all snazzy and basically had THE greatest time. I know what they say about parties, and the influence of alcohol, but I really bonded with a few people that night. FRENS FRREVAH.

Just sharing this for anyone who might not know about this project. I'm not sure it even applies to anyone watching me, but in the case that it does, it's entirely true. This week marks the second year since I came out (geez, I remember every single minute...except all the talking. There was lots of talking.), and it really has been much better. You've heard this before, but not having to hide anything is great. Being who you are just for the sake of doing it is a step closer to being wiser, more mature and ultimately falling into yourself as a person. I make a lot of silly journals and such, but I hold a few things close, honesty and integrity to one's self being a couple of them.
