srsly u guys
Posted 14 years agoI've deleted the submission page. Not for my own veneer, but because it's gotten ridiculous. If you want to talk to me about something, then please, actually talk to me.
I don't get angry, I don't point fingers, and most of all, I take responsibility where I need to. If you are willing to think rationally (and this may be too much to hope for, but I've always been optimistic to a fault), and talk to me without letting emotions get in the way, then by all means I've got the time for you.
Sniping, passing around information, and typing walls of unreadable text back and forth isn't going to get anyone anywhere.
If there's at least one of you who's willing to step down and clear things up, I'd really appreciate it.

Also,
bluehayze and I made a twitter and a gmail account for Savannimals,
so i'll drop those here and you can add them to whatever.
i'm also about to make an FA account, but I'd kind of like a simple icon for that first.
Whoever can design the cutest stylized 'S' with ears and a tail (something like that) wins. Or something.
Man, lots of indefinites in this journal...or something.
I might be getting ahead of myself with this, so if too many things are happening at once
and I'm trying to micromanage, please please please get out the ruler, slap my hand and say
NO. BAD TORA. DON'T ORGANIZE ALL THIS SHIT AT ONCE. FUCK.
You know, standard reprimands. I can deal. I also reeeeaally don't want this to fall apart because
I'm thinking too much about it. It's happened before and it's not fun. .w.

Posted 14 years agoJust look what you've gone and started.
3 people at the first meet, random intermittent swells and drops as we found and settled into our group, and after a series of successful fursuiting events, twenty-four furs show up for the first 'real' meet we've had. That's, uh...quite a lot, but it's a good number.
With all the help and support I had in organizing and keeping things together, I don't think it could have gone much better. One tiger can't run it all, guys; thanks a bunch.
So before I go on to the actual event, here is a list of attendance for great justice. (And so all you guys can +watch each other and trade contact info if you so wished.)
toraie, xepher777, defeatdown, badkittyamy,
therapetor, darkstalker2010, foxwolf9tails,
bluehayze, khabarhaka, madamglacia, eponymouswalrus,
retrogradenova, doggygenesis13, boltthunders, maurien,
mythfox2101, redinoutmir, necro13, jacobgreen, keatonfox
And then furs without FA (or whose I couldn't find), who you can reach either through yahoo or the forums: Ryokufox, meida, and bountyfox.
----
So now that you all know each other, I suppose I'll move on to the event. It won't be like last time, where nearly every minute of every hour is outlined all neat and precise because well, there were just too many hours to recount in one journal.
I got to Screaming Mimi's at 1:00, as planned, and discovered that
and
had been there for a while already. So we wait....and wait...and finally furs start showing up in droves. Luckily, the staff at Screaming Mimi's is super-chill and didn't mind us pulling together 4 of their indoor tables on short notice.
Also it prolly helped that they've seen us before. :V
I had forgotten my camera (like a boss), so we had to rely on
for pictures, which I'll get soon for your viewing pleasure. They'll probably be linked on the soon-to-be-created Savannimals Twitter account, of which
is in charge of (so I still don't have one! HA!).
We're also going to make an FA account, for event announcements and the like (pay attention to them plz ;~; ), but the GA Furs forum will always be the first source for information. You should go join if you haven't. <3
Information segue aside, we continued in the manner furries are pretty good at: art, food, and loud conversation full of bad jokes.
OH YEAH THIS IS IMPORTANT GUYS
is offering free commissions! Everyone who got one at the meet can attest to his skill, and we encouraged him to get his name out there, so this is most likely the best way to do that!
If you'd like one, and you weren't at the meet, just send him a note, mention you know me, and ask away!
Alright, alright, this journal's getting huge already. I'll speed it up a bit.
At 3:00, we rounded everyone up (or attempted to), and shuttled off to Statesboro, where we met up again in the lobby of the Clubhouse, introduced ourselves to the furs that had planned to meet us there, and worked on the baneful and arduous task of figuring out how much everyone has to pay, and how much things will cost.
...I'm not even going to mention that. It didn't go too badly, but seeing as I most certainly made a rather negative profit on this rather than breaking even as I should have, it's a lesson to have things like this better worked out in the future. Thanks to Ryokufox for writing down suggestions. Microsoft Excel, you will soon be my best friend.
The room we rented was super-nice, though. If we do this again, we'll rent that room for more than a piddly little hour, so Bootsie and perhaps some other suiters can join in the bowling antics.
We split up afterwards to do various things, from laser tag (BLUE TEAM IN YO FACE) to mini-golf, and pretty much just had a great time all the time. I'm pretty sure no one walked away disappointed, and by the time we finished at El Sombrero (thanks to
- it's a cozy little place and I liked it a lot), everyone was pretty much all out of ideas.
Same with me, actually. Geez. You guys can fill in the tiny details yourselves. I covered the important things, and I am /done./
oh and btw if you want a poster, I have plenty left. I'm bringing them to FWA, so grab one there if you want.
Announcements on the next event coming soon, so keep an eye out!

Clubhouse @ Hackers - Meet Report 2-19-11
Posted 14 years ago...are you kidding? You bitches can wait till tomorrow; I'm going to bed.
It was tons of fun, though. Just sayin'.
It was tons of fun, though. Just sayin'.
It amazes me sometimes...
Posted 15 years ago...just how many usernames I recognize here on FA while scrolling through comments. Granted, I do love profile surfing, whether from the frontpage (always an interesting journey), or from another's profile or watch list. I'll spend hours doing it - not creepily, not to troll; I just want to find FA's circles and cliques, to start piecing together its Six Degrees, where everyone knows each other through a network of acquaintances.
People are just so interesting.
/understatement of the day
I also just ran a half-marathon for the first time, and I'm a bit sore.
/another huge understatement
I dunno, I've been in a very reflective mood lately, despite having so many things to keep me occupied. Not all of them bad, of course, but some more taxing than others. (Bam, bet you didn't see a seasonal pun coming!)
I love picking up new hobbies and spending time on them, but my problem is I want to try everything. And as interested as I am in competitive gaming communities, where proficiency is a matter of simple dedication and practice, I can't find myself particularly "good" at any one thing because I've spread myself too thin between skills.
I don't want to drop anything, especially if it's engaging enough to be truly enjoyable, so this is quite the predicament.
I could talk forever on competitive gaming; I'm not the best, but it's something I've studied intently. If you're a member of a certain community (not limited to videogames! Sports and videogames have a surprising amount in common!), try asking a few questions - I'm sure we'll find something interesting!
Back to the first topic, though - after considering all the unique profiles and personalities I've seen over the nearly 5 years I've been here, I really do need some spark to my page if I'm going to accomplish everything I want. Popularity and status certainly isn't everything, but ambition in moderation is a healthy thing to have. Even with just 50+ watchers, I write to a larger audience for a reason.
Which reminds me - I cannot express to you how much I am anticipating this month's event. Please, please please RSVP if you know you're attending - I'm trying to keep costs down for everyone, and the more furs we have, the less $$$ it'll be overall.
Spread the word if you know a fur in the area who might be able to go! Maybe it's their first time experiencing the fandom, or interacting with other furs, but either way I can guarantee it'll be amazingly fun.
Love you guys,
Tigerbutt

The Clubhouse @ Hackers - Meet 2-19-11 in Statesboro
Posted 15 years agodirect copypost from GAFurs forum. deal with it. B)
Alright, this month we're trying something different! Instead of a River Street event, we're going to be doing a little bit (not much, though!) of traveling for our monthly fix of fuzzy happenings. Not only does this place look amazingly fun, but it's a way for the Statesboro side to be introduced to the already-large-and-growing community of furs in Savannah - the Savannimals, if you will. You guys have been waiting for a while now, and we're gonna bring it to you rather than have you drive all the way out.
First things first, though. Savannah-area furs will be meeting up at the following location:
The Important Things
Meeting at: 1:00 pm
Screaming Mimi's
513 East Oglethorpe Avenue # P
Savannah, GA 31401
(912) 236-2744
If you've been to our meets before, you know exactly where this place is - if not, it's easy to find (corner of Oglethorpe and Price, or nearly a straight shot off the Truman Parkway), and you can always call me if you need directions on the way!
We'll then have lunch, chat around a bit like usual, and then around 3:00 pm, divvy up to carpool out to Statesboro. If you're volunteering to drive, please say so, and the number of seats you have available, though I'm not terribly worried about it working out. I'll be driving a Honda Odyssey (no laughing, please) with 6 seats available, so really the only issue is people getting along for an hour in cramped spaces. I'm sure that won't be a problem - surely it could be worse.
The Actual Event
We'll be arriving at The Clubhouse @ Hackers hopefully on schedule (roughly 4:00), and things will progress from there. I've yet to call the place and confirm a reservation, but I'm hoping to get a party room package for us, with private bowling lanes, pizza, and possibly laser tag. I'll be calling them within the week, and I'll make sure to post with updates as they come. Fursuits are probably not allowed, same as any other place in GA, but it can't hurt to ask.
More details will be posted as they come, and ask if you have any questions at all! Please RSVP if you plan to attend!
Thanks to Keaton (aka KikiFoxkitty) and Slick Kat for offering info on this place, and we're hoping for all the other Statesboro-area furs (Simbani, Lazer_Hyena, anybody?) to hop on this, too. It's looking to be a huge meet already - 15 furs attended our last River Street event, and the group can only get bigger. I'm looking forward to this, guys, and I hope you are too!

Posted 15 years agoGot back from that Pump Pro 2 tourney in Orlando. Met tons of great people, and even drew the attention of
with my FWA 2010 shirt. We subsequently spent the rest of the weekend derping about the arcade whilst the tourney progressed. I spent about 20 of my 72 hours in Orlando in there, and Mr. Leon made it more than tolerable.
I went, not to win, but expecting to have a good time, and I succeeded. If you look at the past few days on Facebook, you'll see exactly how much happened there. It was pretty great.
Man, was that fun. I'd totally be willing now to go to Orlando or some other major city in a different direction. Three or four hours really isn't that bad for something this cool.

Posted 15 years agoJust want to let you guys know
Posted 15 years agoThis isn't a bad thing, but it's kind of important.
Our River Street event this weekend is going to be smack in the middle of SCAD's anime/fantasy convention, so I'm already expecting to pick up a trail of closet furs and fursuit makers. With an attendance of already over 10 people, this will easily be our biggest group meet yet. So those new furs here who might be feeling shy, this weekend won't allow you to be. I can pretty much guarantee it.
Heads up, it'll be crazy.

Posted 15 years agoI miss 2010 ;w;
Also, it's a shame this couldn't be on 1-11-11 even though it's my sister's birthday. it just looks cool.
SO YEAH
I hope you're all back safely, had a good holiday season and new year's, and are ready to get back to doing awesome things downtown and generally bothering/impressing/scaring/cheering up tourists!
I love how smoothly these events run - there's so many things to do downtown, but we always manage to pick the best one.
I also think it's great how we're constantly getting new furs around the area...and every one of them seems to think they're the only ones around. Shocker, huh? We're just a small, close-knit group, constantly growing, and I love it.
And again, it's gonna be 1:30pm, Saturday, January 15th, 2011
Screaming Mimi's
513 E. Oglethorpe Ave (on the corner of Oglethorpe and Price - can't miss it if you're coming from Broad and/or the Truman.)
Savannah, Ga 31401
912.236.2744
They now know we do these events monthly, and if
xepher777 would like to make a poster for this one as well, I'm sure they'd hang it up. I still have posters from the first event, if anyone hasn't gotten them. They're really excellent posters, and I need to get around to framing mine soon.
So don't forget! I'll be sending out a text like I usually do, sometime in the next week. Armstrong classes start on Monday, but I'm sure there'll be time to send a lil' reminder message.
Hope to see you there, and I hope to make this event as successful and fun as the first one!

I want to make a rainbow tigers group.
Posted 15 years agoEven though FA groups are pretty much unanimously pointless. :D I think this'd be cute.
Also maybe one for us arrowstompers too but 5-PANEL ONLY THANK YOU VERY MUCH >:CCC
I dunno, I'm trying to distract myself. Gotta see if I have money for things, though some are higher priority than others.
Oh right. River Street Fursuiting journal

[EDIT] I should clarify. Rainbow tigers such as

. Cuz they're all awesome.
[ALSO] MapleStory/Guild Wars, anyone? I know, I know, I'm a huge fgt, but I need to MMO more, it seems.

Posted 15 years agoAnd again! Last time went so well that I'm going to try and run these every month, on the first Saturday, unless the weather isn't friendly.
I think we can survive early December in Savannah, but if you're going, make sure to dress accordingly! Unless you're a fursuiter, in which case you likely won't have to worry about being cold.
And what do you guys think about the name? Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but a catchy name, even just acronyms, are a great way to promote.
Same general details, really.

And like what I did with the last meet, I'll be sending out reminder/update texts, but only if something important comes up, as not to bother you guys constantly.
So if you get something from 912.704.8795, that's me! Give me a call if you have questions, need directions, etc, or hit me up anytime on YIM/MSN.
Take a look at the first post for more, but if you came to the first one, you know what's going down. Hopefully I'll see everyone from the last event and more!

How could I miss this again?
Posted 15 years agoNovember 1st, 2008. This is going to be a special date for me, although not all that celebrated. I've been catching up with college, and it's completely slipped my mind until now.
Those of you who know, November 1st was essentially when I made the beginnings of several enduring and awesome friendships.
At a Tradewinds coffee shop on Wilmington Island, I arrived several minutes too early,
wrapped in a plain brown coat that would see me on far more adventures than this.
I was looking pretty nondescript, except for the collar - a dead giveaway to whom I was about to make myself known.
The shop was filling up with a baseball team, a bunch of kids I paid no attention to, but
when
alchera finally arrived, he being the one who arranged the small meet-up, they became the center
of most of our jokes of the afternoon. We talked about art, real things, miscellany that melted my suspicions
about meeting someone from online, though I couldn't deny I had been excited.
katalina and
jtigerclaw finally arrived, having come from the next state over.
They walked in the store, and I knew it was them, though it took a few moments for them to notice us,
back in the corner. We all began a conversation, though hell if I can remember what about. I grabbed a tiger plush
off the rack, and held it for most of the time we were in there.
When we left, I began to put it back, but
everyone had thought I had already bought it, and I was becoming rather attached anyway.
That tiger stays with me, and even though the rest of the day was just as enjoyable, those hours in Tradewinds
are gonna be the ones I remember.
Thank you, guys, for introducing me to a way of being friends - a way I hadn't really experienced before.
It got me thinking, and experiencing, and my life's been evolving slowly and steadily ever since.
Alchera called me "just a regular kid," and I have to agree with him.
More regular than most, and yet i like to think I stand out.
Just a little.
I apologize for the sappiness, but it's things like these that get people thinking, and I enjoy doing that.
Updates on the next event after the weekend - keep an eye out, folks. <3

River Street Fursuiting 11-06-10...SUCCESS
Posted 15 years agoThank you, everyone who attended, for making my event so good that really, there's only one thing that could have made it better:
the people who were unfortunately unable to make it down here (or in Cynbel's case, having to leave early) missed a truly great and awesomely fun event, and I sincerely hope you'll be able to make the next one, which we'll be planning for as soon as a date that works for everyone is set.
(Tentatively, it's the first or second week of December, but that will have to see confirmation from more than the few people I suggested it to.)
Attendance was amazing - eleven people, and even with the large number of cancels, which i can't blame anyone for; duty calls, and if you're sick, you're sick. Ain't nothing to be done if yer nose is running faster than you can keep up with...'tis the season, and I'm coming onto the beginnings of a cold myself...
I digress.
bluehayze got beat with the work stick,
raggedyhatter and her mate had just moved in and couldn't make it down, and
has his reasons.
foxwolf9-tails came (and was our only suiter!), but
was sick and
stayed behind to tend to him. :3
Still, we had a healthy amount of people, especially for a relatively low-key, casual event that I hope could get more serious over time.
xepher777 was a huge help in arranging things, giving a ton of support, and taking the time to make a KICKASS POSTER AAAAUGH THE COLORS THEY BURN LOOK AWAAAYYYYY
...Right. So. He arrived first, and brought 3 really cool friends, one of whom actually knew
, so we called her up, only to find out that she's been flooded with projects (Can't blame her - a senior art exhibition is important stuff!).
Then I got a call from
and
, saying they were on their way.
Oh dear. I better stop the introductions and get on with the event before people get bored.
Well, I think they're over anyway.
...Eleven people.
Wow.
Okay.
After lounging about Screaming Mimi's and being scrutinized to see if we were actually going to order something, we devoured 2 pizzas, lounged and drew on the back of one of the posters (they're available for free, even if you didn't go, while supplies last!) until we decided it was time to begin, or 4:00pm, whichever came first. It somehow took us an hour and a half to cross the bridge, change into suit, and get across the river on the ferry (thank you, i've heard enough "I'm on a boat" jokes), but once we did, time flew.
Many pictures were taken, many tourists surprised and/or left utterly speechless...It's loads of fun.
We did tend to slip and call
by his name, rather than the suit's (he was Seikhal, the adorable husky, complete with harness and sled...minus the sled because of cobblestones. Eugh.), but that's a small overlook that we'll all remember next time.
After many hours,
and his gang, hailing from the bustling metropolis that is Hinesville (always something to do in Hinesville, amirite gaiz), left us to hit up the mall, something they curiously don't have a chance to do all that often. We decided to get us some burgers, and after a near-crisis at B&D (Coke+grenadine will stain like a muhfugga, but we were lucky enough not to find out), we head back to catch the ferry and call it a night...but oh no! There's a dog that needs rescuing!
Interjection: Good night, this much writing, and only for one day! What if I were to type up a con report?! At least you'll know what to expect, those of you who care enough to watch me anyway. Hahaha. ilu guyz
This dog scared the hell out of us. It nearly got hit by a car (who didn't stop even when a 6'6" anthro husky is signaling frantically...jackass >:C) and was super-skinny, but so sweet we couldn't bear to leave it to fend for itself, and especially not on ultra-busy-and-dangerous Broughton. After much worrying by
,
and myself, we not-so-miraculously locate the owner and head off, slightly shaken. But we find the ferry, goof around, and line up for one final picture before calling it a night.
I could go into so many smaller details, but I know you don't care to read them, and I've typed far too much already (bad habit). There is one person I haven't mentioned who certainly deserves to be recognized, however.
khabarhaka is new to Savannah, and new to furry.
He and I hit it off instantly, engaging in geeky conversation and all-around pleasantries.
Several times during the day, he told me how much he was enjoying it.
That made me so happy, not only because it meant that my event was going well and beyond what I expected, but because I think for everyone, 'present company' turned into 'good friends' for this event.
The entire day was shot through with a streak of geniality - no bad moods, very little complaints, and no complete and entire disenchantment with the fandom, which for Kha (and anyone) is setting a good track record already.
I hope you enjoy your time here, and continue to enjoy our 'furmeets', which I personally believe is really just a title.
We're a gathering of friends who happen to meet over a common interest.
There's something more in Savannah area meets; there always has been.
I realized it started with
katalina and
jtigerclaw (and
and
and many others <3) and it hasn't stopped.
I don't particularly expect it will, so I'll be looking forward to the next time we can all enjoy each other's company.
See you guys,
Toraie

River Street Fursuiting 11-06-10
Posted 15 years agoGAFurs forum members: Sorry for the blatant repost. It's the easiest way to get word around, though.
I've been talking to some of the local furs, whether online or through meets, and the general interest in starting this up while the weather is really really nice looks to be good. I'm planning ahead for this (WHOA CHECK OUT THOSE ITALICS), and the weekend after FF not only follows our tradition of first-of-the-month, but it's a decent enough way off where people can plan around it if they have to. (and I know those of you who are going to FF won't have had enough fursuiting afterwards. <3)
So check your schedules, and check in with me!
We've lost quite a few suiters since last time (
,
,
, and
all left for California /westcoastjokehereplz), but we'll also have some this time around that didn't join us before, and that could totally make up for it, while still giving us impressive numbers with which to...impress the crowds.
DETAILS AS OF 10/16/10

Oh, and you don't have to be a suiter to take part in this, of course! It's open to anyone as long as they don't mind several hours of walking around (and you shouldn't because you'll be having too much fun).

Noir - I'm a sucker for it
Posted 15 years agoYES I ADMIT IT I go crazy for anything pre-20s/30s/40s and even 50s that's dark, rainy, and detective-y
Does it involve some shady character about to pull off a crime and/or an individual with a motive trying to stop him? If so, I love it.
Does it involve in-depth rambling about how exactly they're going to pull off said crime? If so, I love it.
There's more, but I have to go work. xD
As you can see, it's a generalized field, but anything like that I've recently been in the mood for. So I've redesigned my characters for it, and I'd like to see them drawn...But I can't afford a three-char pic just yet. xD
zakuten knows exactly what I'm talking about.
My characters, in case you only know the one, are Toraie, Nebiiros (a Bangaa who starred in a short story on my
account but has been since slightly modified), and A (skinny li'l snake-dude who no one knows much about).

Posted 15 years agoyeah, yeah, we've all had strange ones.
BUT I BET YOURS DIDN'T INVOLVE
JTIGERCLAW AND
KATALINA, VERY CLOSE UP TO THE CAMERA, MEOWING IN A CHORUS OF VICTORY BELLS* WHILE A ZEBRA AND A FEW LIONS SOMEHOW FUCKING JOIN THEM, SCENE CHANGE TO ME, STILL HEARING MEOWS IN BOTH EARS, DANCING ON
JTIGERCLAW'S CHEST WITH AN ERECT DILDO WAGGLING AROUND TAPED TO MY CHEST, ALL IN VERY BAD CHIBI ANIMATION
And then I wake up at exactly 9:30, precisely 3 seconds before
gravis's alarm goes off.
*victory bells - you know, the happy four-note thing you hear out of a church, also known as the doorbell chime
