re: making things
General | Posted 10 years agoNOTE: An edit now appears at the bottom.
NOTE: And another one.
---
If you and I talk with any frequency, you've probably heard me expressing regret over the fact that I rarely demonstrate the discipline or build up the motivation to create things (writing stories, learning to draw better, taking on little programming projects, etc.). Every so often I'll come up with a new scheme to improve my consistency with creative efforts, but generally I'll lapse and abandon it pretty quickly.
This journal just represents another attempt to fix that problem (because I do see it as a problem) from a different angle. Usually I keep those intentions to myself, but this one involves you, hence the journal about it. Since two of the things that seem to help break through my indolence are deadlines and accountability, this scheme is an attempt to inject some of those things into my creative process.
Here's how it works.
- You leave a comment describing something you'd like to see me create, e.g. you describe a concept for a story you'd want to see written, however vague or detailed it happens to be (or send a note about it if you prefer, I guess).
- Over the next week, I try to produce one of the things suggested by somebody (or more than one, depending on scope).
- If it seems to work for me, I keep doing it.
There's a few caveats.
- Around here, I'm a pretty vore-centric person. My selection of concepts will be similarly vore-centric. The more relevant to my interests a concept is, the more likely I am to pick it up.
- I have to fit it into spare time during the week, so anything too large/ambitious for that time window probably won't get picked up.
- Since I'm using this audience to create the feeling of accountability, things created this way will be posted here, so don't suggest anything that you'd then want kept private. (Anonymity of the requestor is fine.)
- I'm not going to get to every idea or to every person; some people's suggestions might get picked multiple times while others' don't at all; that is just how it is.
I can't promise results, or how long I'll continue doing it, but I'm cautiously optimistic that maybe this can help me work on the things that prevent me from making things.
Thanks for reading and considering!
---
Edit:
I'm actually going to be a few days late on making this one, for three reasons. The first is that some procrastination was involved (a bad habit that will be part of what I'm working on fixing here). The second is that I selected an idea and created an outline that requires much more story than is really reasonable for this timespan - another problem that I have had before that I am going to have to be more intentional about in the future. And lastly, I've been having some sleep and headache trouble the last few days, which has not left me in a condition to be writing. So I will try to instead have this one out at the latest by this weekend, and we will go from there.
Edit 2:
It's still coming, but my underestimation skills remain unmatched. I guess we'll see when I manage to finish it.

AC is over
General | Posted 10 years agoHerp derp, journal is late.
Thanks to everyone I got to talk to and hang out with. It's always great and reaffirming to see you all.

AC 2015 information
General | Posted 10 years agoIt's that time of year again so here's the typical AC information, stolen from other journals and condensed a bit.
Staying at:
The Westin
Arriving on:
Wednesday the 8th, fairly late at night.
How to contact / find me:
Email or text are both fine for immediate communication and coordination.
Panels or events I attend:
Generally none. I'm just here to spend time with people I don't get to see much of. Chances are either I'm in the Zoo hoping to socialize or play games, or I'm hanging out with friends that happen to be somewhere other than the Zoo, or I'm occupied by sleep-related activities. Anything else is an anomaly.
Is it okay to talk / touch / visit / buy drinks / other?
Please do talk and hang out, that's great; I'm there to socialize. Hugs are welcome. Buying me anything is quite senseless. Other stuff, ask.
---
That's about it. If you want to coordinate to do anything (go eat somewhere sometime / go to the pool / go to some event / whatever) it's a good idea to mention it in advance because the con gets super-hectic with everybody's conflicting plans, and the sooner I know, the sooner I can know to turn other things down.

So you say you want a resolution
General | Posted 13 years agoContains: 100% me-focused hand-wringing and introspection.
I was recently (gently!) reminded that there's no genuine significance to New Years', so the tradition of pinning all our resolve for self-improvement in the following year to this particular arbitrary point in time is a little silly. That's true, but an arbitrary point in time is better than no point in time at all, so here I am. Spoiler alert: I don't so much have a resolution; more like placeholder for one that I don't properly know how to make.
This is sort of a good place to post this journal because this site constantly reminds me of the impressive things that creative people accomplish with their time. I get to view a number of (and am lucky enough to know and talk with a few) people whose creative output is impressive and inspiring (e.g. lapseph, rufellen, ...), and I've most always told myself that I'd like to be like that. I've messed about at various times with writing and with drawing and with creative-programming and etc., and the vexing thing is that I DO tend to find them rewarding, when I have actually done them; with the VOCT and other things, people's reactions and recognition have been exciting and encouraging and made me want to continue. ...But I have such a monstrous lack of any sort of discipline that, in the absence of hard external deadlines like those imposed by the VOCT, I just don't do anything that I don't have to. I'll fulfill work and household responsibilities, and then end up playing videogames and chatting and idling and etc. for the rest of my time, no matter how infinitely much time I happen to have.
So that's kind of where I am. In theory, I'd like to use more of my time creatively-- heaven knows if I'm being honest I've got more than enough time for it-- and I'm egotistical enough to think that I can produce things worthy of other people's consumption. The problems (as I see them) are discipline and/or accountability. I'd like to resolve to surmount those problems and establish some personal schedule for creative work and output, but after the failures of previous attempts at suck-it-up-and-do-it-ism, I have to admit I've got no ideas for how to do that and make it stick.
Maybe that's where you come in. Ideas? Suggestions? Grand schemes by which I might hold my feet to the fire, in light of the fact that when I just set deadlines for myself it fails because I just ignore them? I don't know whether this problem in particular is one that other people have struggled with, or to any similar extent.
Thanks for reading.

Anthrocon plans / roll call
General | Posted 14 years agoAnthrocon hotel registration in a couple of days, huh. Time flies.
Who else is going this year? Who're people rooming with? Mostly I'm just curious who I get to look forward to seeing. :D

That VOCT thing
General | Posted 14 years agoWell, since I haven't seen a journal about this yet, and without one I would imagine some confusion might ensue:
Due to a circumstance that cut into my writing time this round, with the agreement of my opponent
renor, I was earlier told that a short extension (to Sunday, from the previous deadline of Friday) has been granted by the judges for this round's submissions. If not for that, it'd be a win by default for Renor, since I couldn't have had my entry in a working state, so it is especially gracious of Renor to agree to this.
I'll have other remarks to make on VOCT matters when everything is finished, but for now I have a couple more feverish days of writing ahead. (Yes, if you've had a hard time catching me online for the past couple of weeks... well, by now you should know this is why. xD)

VOCT interim entry
General | Posted 14 years agoIf you don't follow VOCT, you can stop reading here!
Due to the tournament format I don't turn in a 'real entry' this round, but there's good reason for me to submit an interim entry anyway (e.g. to cover the nutrion transfer due to the post-round-five format adjustment). This journal is just confirmation that, yes, I will still submit such an entry-- after I read the other entries this round so I know I'm not in conflict with the potential canon of the actual competitors for this round.
Just an FYI for the few people that might've otherwise wondered whether I was going to write anything for that.

AC Info. Who should I look for?
General | Posted 14 years agoAwesome, of my last three journals two of them are from LAST year's Anthrocon. I really don't use this journal much, do I? Anyhow:
The important bit: If you want to meet up or hang out, let me know, and make sure I have some contact info! The whole reason I go is to spend time with people, but the con is hectic and even well-laid plans get messed up! I love meeting up with people for food or whatever, but that works way better if we figure it out in advance rather than panickedly trying to work it out at the last minute. "Grab breakfast tomorrow" is a start, "Grab breakfast tomorrow at the bagel place at 10 with x, y, and z" is better. Mmmmm bagelplace.
Oh, and if I remember right, my tag will just say 'Eid' on it. In the past, this has caused a huge number of people interested in seeing me not to know who I was! YOU ARE WARNED.
Now the applicable questions from the 'AC Meme'.
Where are you staying?
The Westin. If you see some dumbass taking a couple dozen flights of stairs just to avoid the elevator line, wave; I might wave back!
What day are you getting there?
The 23rd, first day of the con.
Who will you be with?
Retna, Blaccy, Gelus; the four of us will be distributed in some fashion throughout a couple of single rooms because I didn't wake up on time to book a double. *tear*
Do you do [art/trades/commissions]?
No, sorry!
Can I talk to you?
Yes. Please do. I love this.
Can I touch/hug/snuggle you?
Yeah, hugs and stuff are fine. Be careful, though, I hug tightly. If you are wearing a bunch of metal badge-clips where they can dig in at your chest, you may regret it. xD Sooooorry Deioth!
How can I find you?
- Best way: Let me know that you want to. Just note me on FA or something if you want to grab food sometime or want to make sure you don't miss me at an event or get-together or whatever. If it turns out everybody is using Twitter for this or whatever, I'll probably try that too.
- Less-effective but still plausible ways: Attend voreparties and wait for me to show my face. Hang out with my friends and wait for me to appear. Be a stalker, find my room, and camp out. Turn on Super Smash Bros for N64 where I can hear it. Wander around soaked in fish-oil.
- Worst way: Come to my home. Sorry, I'll be at AC!
Are you nice?
I try to be. I am a little awkward/quiet at first around people that I don't think I know well and haven't observed enough to get a feel for, but if we've exchanged words on a couple of occasions, yeah.
How long are you going?
Flying back out on Monday I believe
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Supported options: Say "hey", wildly guess how the heck one pronounces Eid or Eidolon and give that a try, cast Power Word: IRL Name, tap my shoulder, hug, wave, improvise.
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
My room, friends' rooms, the dealers' room, vore-hangouts. As a random encounter, I'm pretty low-probability; best not to count on it just happening unless you personally hang out with a bunch of the people I hang out with.
What/where will you be eating?
Restaurants mostly, ideally with friends. Plz to be telling me if you want to meet up for this! :3
Can I take your picture?
I'm paranoid. I'd prefer that you didn't, and if you do, for god's sake don't post it somewhere and name me in it.
What's your goal for the con this year?
1. Hang out with old friends.
2. Hang out with new friends.
3. Get down on Friday.
4. Fail to enjoy a sandwich.
5. Not have to worry about VOCT... Okay that's a pre-con goal.

Voar meme
General | Posted 15 years agoTagged implicitly by Tsumi. Yay cop-outs!
(NOTE: A lot of these questions stop making sense if you play in different settings with different social assumptions about vore, or if your character's background varies with setting and then especially if your character's mindset varies with background. Hence, a lot of my answers resemble 'there is no answer'.)
What do you prefer?
---
1: Soft/hard/Cv/soul/unbirth/anal vore?
Yesplz to everything except for most hard vore. For the most part, that doesn't bother me, but it just doesn't interest me either.
---
2: Feet first or Head first?
This doesn't matter much to me. Variety is a good thing though, and one sees a lot of headfirst.
---
3: Mammals, birds, reptiles, or other?
These are all fine. As an exception, feral non-fantastic reptiles/birds are pretty uninteresting.
---
4: Pred or Prey?
Yes. To clarify, when I feel like I know how to push a preyish partner's buttons, I enjoy being pred a lot. Otherwise, I get somewhat paranoid/self-conscious, which makes predding uncomfortable, but being a prey is still 'easy'.
---
5: Unwilling or willing?
Yes. However, it's utterly important for the character to be behaviorally self-consistent. Willing prey that make sense given the character's personality and circumstances? Awesome awesome. Willing prey for whom it just doesn't make sense why they would be willing? Scene-killing. Unwilling prey are more typically acceptable just because it's never hard to find a believable reason for one...
---
6: loving or non-loving (just eating to eat, or for the joy of it)
Changes with the predator; neither improves nor worsens a scene as long as it fits.
---
7: Digestion?
Generally speaking, yes. Non-digestive scenes can be fine too, but the vore has to have SOME consequence, even if it's as abstract as having an impact upon the characters' ongoing relationship with each other. Digestion is still preferable. <33
---
8: Fatal or non-fatal?
See above. Fatality is delightful and I love it. Non-fatality is acceptable, but the scene has to have consequence of some other kind, and it's pleasant for it to be acknowledged in some way that being eaten is an ostensibly-dangerous activity.
---
9: Dark or light-hearted?
That depends whether you're talking about overall themes or in-scene mood. The mood of a scene can be whatever works from the storytelling perspective. From an overarching perspective, I love dark and personally disastrous themes. Sorry! (Yes, dark themes in fact work very well in light-hearted scenes...)
---
10: Same size, micro, or macro? (prey).
Generally same-size (meaning anywhere in the same ballpark; a short anthro eating a rather tall anthro still falls into the bucket that I would label same-size, if same/macro/micro are my only available labels). Micro can be annoying when it makes the vore impersonal, or otherwise trivializes its consequences (the pred never had to care about the prey in the first place, was never expected to, and never will = uninteresting); it can be alright when that's not the case.
---
Short answer
---
1: Can you reform your prey? If so, how do you do it? If you are a prey, only, write something TOTALLY random, or disregard. :3
Memes inevitably reveal interesting characteristics of their creators' biases and perspectives. That said...
Depends heavily on the setting. Can't really get into more detail without describing a bunch of hypothetical conditions. With that said, while reformation is an obvious necessity when interacting with other people's main characters in an 'ongoing' canon, I rarely like focusing on it and prefer to either gloss over or leave it out entirely unless it's actually rationalized and included in a way that contributes to rather than detracts from the ability to have meaningful storytelling in the setting.
---
2: Do you like pure preds? Are you one? If not, why?
This is immaterial. Player preference is player preference. One respects it. Don't like a player? Don't play with that player. There are individual pure-pred players that I greatly admire and enjoy interacting with, and there are those whose personalities I find offputting, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they are pure-pred, even if the two can be correlated.
---
3: Does your pred/prey have powers? what are they if yes? (If no powers, then how do they fight/defend?)
Depends on whether the setting calls for them.
The parenthetical question: *facepalm*
---
4: What does your pred think of willing prey? If your char is prey, are they willing or non-willing?
Depends on the setting and the expectations it establishes. Willing prey in expected-fatal settings with dubious or unbelievable motives are unprocessable and scene-killing, otherwise the reaction varies by predator mindset, which is non-constant.
---
5: Your prey starts begging you not to eat them! How does the predator react?
Depends on the expectations established by setting and mindset, which are non-constant.
---
6: What does your pred prefer to eat?
Prey. This one doesn't change much.
---
7: Is your pred competitive with any other predator? If your char is prey, do they have contests of who can get eaten the most?
In settings where vore itself is light-hearted and widely accepted: Sure, mindset permitting. If it's a playful thing, then yes, preds play with it. In settings where it's srs life-and-death bsns: No, barring sociopathy or warlike antagonism to the prey...
---
8: What sort of prey does your pred hate the most? (taste wise) If your char is prey, then tell us if they are afraid of any kind of pred.
8a: Prey that're genuinely food-flavored are jarring. 8b: Yes, from a preyish perspective, my character is afraid of any kind of pred. (Assuming the setting is one in which vore is a thing commonly to be feared...)
---
9: What is your pred's holding capacity? (how much can they eat?) If your char is prey, disregard or write something random. OR tell us how long you could last in acids.
9a. Depends on the level of realism demanded by the setting. Generally 1-3 prey's worth, setting permitting; when supernatural trickery is permitted, potentailly very many more.
9b. However long the acids in question dictate.
---
10: Now tag a few people!
<Russel>All persons not tagged by themselves.</Russel>
(NOTE: A lot of these questions stop making sense if you play in different settings with different social assumptions about vore, or if your character's background varies with setting and then especially if your character's mindset varies with background.

10: Now tag a few people!

AC meme
General | Posted 15 years agoI have 21 AC. That's a +2 dex bonus, a... what? Oh! Right.
I don't know how the original version of this meme went. I bet this is a corrupted version, but I'm not about to go piece together the original.
Where are you staying?
Westin.
What days are you getting there?
Thursday early afternoon.
Who will you be rooming with?
Among the two rooms my group has reserved, there will exist, in no particular alphabetical order, Blaccy/Kealldin, Cole, Gelus/Kyre, Heretic, Leng, Mark, and Retna. Cancellations may occur, we may end up with some addition sleeping on an I-don't-know-what, but that's the core of the plan.
How can I find you?
Message me on the internet, I guess. I'll try to stay current on that?
Can I give you hugs?
Sure.
Can I dance with you?
I'm no dancer. I'm only at 3 geomancer and 2 dragoon so don't count on it anytime soon either.
Can I get a pic with you?
I'd rather not. If you must have one, talk to me.
Can I talk to you?
Yes, unless you are Stephen Hawking, in which case I will permit your electronic speech unit to act as an intermediary.
Can I hang out with you?
Yes. Especially if you play Smash Bros. 1...
Can I buy you a drink?
Doubtful.
Do you wear anything with your suit?
A tie, but I'll be wearing neither there.
Do you do trades?
I only do one trade, and this is a vacation so I have no intention of doing it while there.
What your gender?
Syntax error on line 1: missing token
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Yes or maybe.
How tall are you?
A few inches under 6' I guess?
Are you nice?
Ask somebody else.
Are you cliquey?
I don't really know how to strike up a conversation with people that I don't know at all. I won't resent or discourage anybody's presence, but I'm only really extroverted with people that I feel like I have some understanding of.
Do you like parties?
If they have a high concentration of persons known to me, then I'm okay with them. Casual gatherings of friends are more my style.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Any reasonable way you please. Say my name, tap my shoulder, explain that you are Nigerian royalty and have come to enlist my help in transporting a large sum of money out of the hands of its illegitimate possessors and likewise out of your country's borders...
Are you taken?
I am not subject to being taken; I must be checkmated instead.

Anthrocon '10 Plans
General | Posted 16 years agoWith hotel registration opening up in February, it seems like a good time to start thinking about coordination for the 'con. Last year was my first time going, and while I had a great time, those of you with whom I was fortunate enough to hang out will remember the trouble we had in coordinating ANYthing. Communication was poor, cohesion was low, and anyone that was more than two floors away proved nearly impossible to effectively organize anything with, whether it was a trip for breakfast or even just a mutual hanging out in some location or other.
My first thought, one I'm still hoping to pursue, was just to try to get a few adjoining rooms registered for some of the like-minded among us, so that we'd have a nice little gathering of people who enjoyed each other's company in close proximity, able to converse and hang out and coordinate easily. I haven't done the hotel registration before, so I don't even know how truly feasible it is to do adjoining-room registrations for a con, but assuming that works, well, this idea looks nice on paper at least. (If anyone happens to know that the registration system is such that this wouldn't work, ah well; a nice idea, at least.)
With all of the people who already have their roommates more or less chosen, though, it nevertheless made me think. Given that there's a pretty sizable group of us that're all liable to want to do a fair amount of hanging out with / doing things with each other, it seems like a pretty neat idea to try to have a lot of us with rooms on the same floor of the hotel-- obviously something better decided before the rooms are open and being registered. Sadly it would probably be difficult to pull such a maneuver on one of the lower floors, due to the popularity I assume they have, but it might be feasible partway up the building. I'm curious what people think about this. Worthwhile? Interested? Have thoughts on why this is actually a terrible idea? If the idea sounds good to people, maybe this year we can avoid seeming to be a minimum of five floors away from each other at all times.

The inaccurately-named ten-questions meme
General | Posted 16 years agoReply to this journal and:
1. I'll respond with something random about you. (Failing that, pseudo-random; worst-case, you'll at least get something deterministic.)
2. I'll tell you which song or movie you remind me of.
3. I'll answer a question of your devising, because jello-wrestle-flavor does not inspire me. Fail to devise one, and risk the incitement of my wrath.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
5. I'll tell you my first memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of, though I am afraid my answers to some of you may be less than creative-- who decided this would be a good question to answer concerning furries?
7. I'll ask you something I've always wondered about you.
8. I'll tell you my favorite thing about you.
9. I'll tell you my least favorite thing about you.
(10.) After careful deliberation, we have reached the decision that "You must post this on your journal" is not, in fact, a question, and that furthermore it is even less a question than any of the above. Therefore, it is our unanimous decision that it be ruled invalid and stricken from the list. Of course, if you want to post it on your journal, I daresay I'm not stopping you. I'd advise finding a version that hasn't been corrupted by me first though.
Yes, it's bandwagon time. I can't promise stellar results, since I may not even know some of you well enough to HAVE a good answer for #4, for instance, but we'll give it a try. Well, we'll give it a try if you reply on this journal. If you don't reply on this journal, I do imagine we won't give it a try.

RE: Your telephone number
General | Posted 16 years agoIf I am supposed to have your telephone number, I'd be deeply obliged if you could provide it to me again. The SIM card upon which I was exclusively relying has cruelly betrayed me, and through its treachery all my carefully-cultivated contact information been lost.
On the upside, if you never really wanted me to have your number anyway, now's a perfect opportunity not to give it to me. :)

Enneagram?
General | Posted 16 years agoThis journal concerns the enneagram-quiz 'meme' that's been propagating through FA journals. If that topic disinterests you, you will probably find nothing interesting in this journal.
On the upside, you will also not find any copypasta in this journal. If you want to read the wall-of-text result that everybody's been shoving in their journal, you can just follow the link to it below.
There's been a lot of people taking a quiz located here (or a very similar quiz, I rarely see anyone actually linking it)
http://www.helloquizzy.com/tests/th.....enneagram-test
and copy-pasting the result into their journal without any explanation at all. Are they posting it because their friends posted it, or because they found the results especially true and relevant? It'd be nice to know, but oh well. If you actually want to read my result for it, it's here.
http://www.helloquizzy.com/results/the-quick-amp-painless-enneagram-test/?fromCGI=1&var_ABC=45&var_XYZ=15
The reason I'm posting it myself is I'm curious to know if anyone who's taken it has been especially UNimpressed, or found that its results were really far from the mark. If you have time for a quiz consisting of 2 questions with 3 possible answers each, go ahead and take it and read what it claims to be true about you-- it could be interesting enough to be worth your while.
Mine startled me. Especially after glancing through others' results, I was kind of expecting a wishy-washy, fortune-cookie or horoscope-like slew of somewhat-correct generalities, mostly relying on trivial, positive blanket truths that people are liable to agree apply to them. That wasn't what I got. Excluding the statements about how parents of my 'type' may behave (I am no parent), the result made 25 statements. 6 were true for what I considered to be 'trivial', horoscope-like reasons. Of the 'meaningful' statements, though, 16 were true, 2 were false, and 1 struck me neutrally. Of those 16 true statements, about half of them identified qualities that I would have considered 'private': personal things about myself that I wouldn't expect other people to know or be able to easily discern. (Of course, only one or two of these statements asserted negative qualities about me, so I may have been biased toward agreement with them. Many of them are neutral rather than positive, but very few I interpret as negative.) The suggestion that I share many of these qualities with the members of one of only nine possible types is a rather disconcerting one. Am I statistically 'lucky' here, in that the results match me much more closely than others who would receive this answer, or can people be this easily and accurately typecast?
I'm expecting that other people's results won't be so dead-on as mine, I'm just interested to actually hear so. I would look more into this Enneagram thing, but there's a paucity of good and easily-found (yeah, I'm lazy) information on it. No, Wikipedia's page is awful (first time I've said that about the wikipedia page on something), it's all mysticism and undefined terms being thrown around there.
So! Thoughts, if you find yourself moved to share them! :3

More online
General | Posted 16 years agoI've been absent from this and a number of other sites since a little while before AC, and after AC was over I've been off of them too but now I've got some measure of access again. (I have been on instant messenger, but that's a different story.) Expect me to re-establish some of my typical online habits once this week is over, though until then, well, not quite so much. :)
With regard to AC: I haven't read everyone else's journals about it yet, but regardless... I had a good time while I was there. I wasn't there for the con so much as for the fact that many people I knew and wanted to meet would be there, and in that sense it was everything that I'd hope. Time-management and coordination proved to be surprisingly thorny concerns, but eh; I'll know better about those things for next time, and I'll probably arrange to have less-chaotic rooming arrangements too (as awesome as all the people I got to room with are <3). If that previous statement doesn't imply it strongly enough, yeah, I intend to continue attending in the future, so barring unforeseen problems you can expect to see me there. :)
With regard to other stuff, well, my move has gone reasonably well, even though I'm still only just settling in for real. I don't know that there's too awfully much more to say there; some of you know more about my work/life situation, but if you do, don't comment on it here. Not really the place! Regardless, I'm looking forward to being in a little closer contact with many of you again.

Getting Wasted
General | Posted 18 years agoI'm going to go out on Sunday and spend all my money getting drunk.
...Well, no, I'm not really. But I could. Dammit. That's a dammit of annoyance, by the way, not one of impotent vehemence.
Oh and by the way, in the words of hermity l'il moblin dudes, "It's a secret to everybody.", so don't go blabbing. Except when they say it, it's in all caps and sounds like 'bwabwa-bwa-bwabwabwa bwa bwabwa-bwabwa'. Even so they're not as cool as ERROR.
Thanks dudes.

Propagating a meme
General | Posted 18 years agoThanks to
retna and
jizzal, I have one responsibility and one volition to propagate this meme (and also owe thanks to
shadownightclaw, without whose twice being stolen from none of this would have happened)! The rules are thus: reply to this journal, verbose or vacuous as you please, and --
1- I'll TRY and answer with something random about you.
2- I'll dare you to try something.
3- I'll say a color I associate with you.
4- I'll tell you something I like about you.
5- I'll tell you something I always remember about you / a first memory about you.
6- I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7- I'll ask you something I always wanted to ask you.
8- If I do this for you, you are urged to devote a little thought to the question of whether or not you would care to propagate this meme as well. (Who says I can't change the wording?)
Now to ponder what happens if I reply to this. Hmm...

So apparently I've been tagged.
General | Posted 19 years agoI've been tagged by
retna.
The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 weird habits/things/hates about yourself" and people who get tagged MUST write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things/hates as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" on their User Page comments and tell them to read yours.
...Well, why not? Let's see.
1. I have terrible time-management. When I actually sit down and do things, I can get amazing amounts of work done, and I can pick up on concepts quickly too... but even so, sometimes it feels like I just barely get by because come evening I always sit down, decide to just relax for a little... and end up wasting the entire night on things, only managing to actually be productive if some impending deadline is lighting a fire under my behind. Similarly, I've been meaning to draw/write creatively for awhile now, but while I feel I have the potential to advance to a level at which I'll be more or less satisfied with what I produce... I can't get myself to actually work at it except once in a chartreuse moon.
2. I'm borderline narcissistic; if I pass a mirror / window that's not lit from the other side / vaguely reflective surface, I always turn to regard myself as I walk by. So yeah, I sorta obsess over my appearance a little, as much as so far as everyone else is concerned I think of appearance as an unimportant thing.
3. I don't exercise. I'm not overweight; quite the opposite, really, very much on the thin side, and I'm healthy enough; I'm a couple steps away from disease-immunity, and I do about an hour of walking a day, at least twenty minutes at a time twice (thanks to not having a bike), but that's hardly exercising; the closest thing I do is DDR/ITG and while I'm not bad at them I really only play sporadically. I ought to do more.
4. I don't really have any real 'skills' to speak of. I have talents enough; the quick-learning etc. mentioned before, a way with words upon which I'm often complimented... but despite having been in college for two years now, I can't actually point at anything I directly know how to do and defend the idea that someone should be willing to, say, pay me for it. It's disconcerting, to imagine that despite all the work and effort I've put forth over the years, none of it's truly useful except as an investment, the utility of which is predicated upon my learning something of value in the future... but I digress.
5. I can be eloquent and convincing in writing, but in person there's always some word that I can't think of. I'll be delivering a powerful sentence with others' full attention... and I'll know the concept I've been meaning to communicate, but I absolutely cannot come up with the one word that conveys it... and this is only aggravated by the fact that I'm absolutely fixated on the idea of lingual precision. I use a lot of 'big' or rarely-used words, but it's never to sound pretentious: it's always because that word says precisely what I mean it to say in a way that no other more common word can. But again, I digress.
6. I worry too much about what other people are thinking. If I do anything that would make me 'lose face', online or in real life, I end up agonizing over it and reliving every little detail to the exclusion of other thoughts the next time I'm alone. Similarly, remembering an embarassing moment sometime that I'm not expecting it will often make me physically cringe and recoil at the memory. Inwardly, I know I'm attaching way, way too much importance to things that other people will have forgotten by the time the next week rolls around... but it's not a habit I seem to have a great deal of control over. Same applies online; if I leave a bad impression on somebody whether it's in a chat or even an RP or whatever (impression with the player, not the character) I'll end up upset about it for awhile.
...Hmm. Looking back, a lot of those sound... kind of personal. More in depth than a lot of the stuff I see. But I don't mind. Especially because I'll probably remove this after a week or so or something, because I feel kind of silly having a journal with stuff when I've not a single item of 'content' on the site. I'm still missing a part of this journal, though, so here it is.
