Hey everyone! The Transformers Fanclub on FA needs mascots: characters who embody the idea of a love of Transformers among furries. They could be Transformers themselves, humans, anthros, or some mix- and we'll have more than one!

Here's how it works: By October 10th, submit to FA a new image of an original character intended to be a mascot, and send this account a note with a link to the image. The image should be suitable for other artists to use as a reference for future illustrations, and must be appropriate for all audiences to view. A little sexiness is okay, but nothing that would be rated Mature or Adult.

After the deadline, the submissions will be gathered up and reposted through this account. Members will be asked to vote for their favorites: and the most popular will be chosen as our mascots!

Here's the thing, though: we want all sides to be represented, so there will be three winners: a Decepticon/Predacon-aligned character, an Autobot/Maximal-aligned character, and a neutral character. You're welcome to submit more than one character idea, in fact, we encourage it! If you're submitting a Decepticon character, think about making an Autobot and a neutral character, too. If you're submitting a Maximal, try to come up with a Predacon and neutral character as well- you get the idea.

Feel free to spread the word about this contest! The winning characters will be used as the club mascots, and an image featuring the three of them will be posted as our featured image on the club profile.

THE NEWS
Online retailer Big Bad Toy Store has revealed a November 11 release date for Wave 5 of the Transformers Generations line of toys. For those who haven't been keeping up, Generations is a line of Deluxe size figures drawn from the full 25 year history of the Transformers brand: from classic characters like Thundercracker, to more recent creations like Drift, and even obscure characters like Darkmount- based on the Marvel Comics exclusive character Straxus. This latest release includes reissues of Generations Wheeljack, Warpath, and "Sergeant" Kup, as well as the new figures 'Junkion' (called 'Junkheap' elsewhere, and using the Transformers 2010 Wreck-Gar mold) and Skyshadow (based on Japan-exclusive character Black Shadow, using the Generations Thunderwing mold). You can find preorders here.

TFW2005 has a gallery up of images of the recently released Amazon-exclusive redeco of Unicron. This exclusive release is a detailed homage to Unicron's first appearance in Transformers: The Movie, the original animated theatrical release that introduced the character to the Transformers mythos, and comes with a redeco of the "Dead End" Mini-Con named Kranix.

ON TO THE POLLS:
The club is getting pretty big! We need a mascot: a character that represents both a love of Transformers, and being a furry: the question is, should we have more than one? We'll start a contest soon to create the mascot, but first: comment with the number of the option(s) you prefer!
* 1: The mascot should be an Autobot
* 2: The mascot should be a Decepticon
* 3: The mascot should be a Maximal
* 4: The mascot should be a Predacon
* 5: the mascot should be a Mini-Con
* 6: The mascot should be some other faction
* 7: the mascot should be a "mech" (male)
* 8: the mascot should be a "femme" (female)
* 9: the mascot should be androgynous or a herm
Remember, you can vote for more than one option! Depending on how many votes we get, we may look for more than one mascot.

3RD PARTY TOYS POLL
Should 3rd party toys be included in the club news? With the increased availability of "3D printing" fabrication machines and knowledge of toymaking techniques in the fandom, many individuals and small groups are producing toys that are based on existing transformers characters and concepts. While these are not official products, they are an interesting sort of fanwork: should the club news report on developments in this area? Answer yes or no, or give us your thoughts on a third option we overlooked.

The OFFICIAL Transformers Collectors' Club has revealed pictures of their 2012 Member Exclusive toy: Runamuck! People who join the TFCC by March 16 2012 will receive this free bonus figure as part of their membership. Runamuck is made using the Transformers: Generations version of Wheeljack/Tracks, and is the first club exclusive I've seen to sport a brand new head sculpt. His Decepticon buddy Runabout will also be released as a club exclusive, available to members at a reduced price. Here's a look at the resculpted head, from the TFCC Facebook page.

TFW2005 has a gallery up of official images of Wave 5 of the Deluxe class figures in the Dark of the Moon toyline. Included is the new-mold figure Air Raid, a MechTech figure whose shield becomes a radar dish in his spy plane vehicle mode. Tformers.com gives us a better look at Air Raid in particular.

An Amazon pre-order listing has appeared for a Hardcover edition of the IDW comic Transformers- Last Stand of the Wreckers. For those who don't know them, the Wreckers are a special team of Autobots who take on the missions no other group will risk- and their terrible survival rate proves it! The original single issue and trade paperback releases of this miniseries met with fantastic reviews for art, story, and characterization that turned some of the most obscure transformers ever into some of the most beloved in the fandom.

Unfortunately, I can't always afford to check this page that often-- I hope that this two month long hiatus won't be the norm --but I've learned that when I do, it often leads to a rush of comments... and Shouts on the userpage.

Honestly, i have no excuse for neglecting this page as long as i did, especially after having taken the reigns away from someone else for doing the same thing.

So, I'm gonna step back in and make up for it. I'm going to start adding people who wanted to join ASAP...

Pretty much immediately after getting back home, I was confronted with problems in terms of getting ready for school and finding work, and had to prioritize quite a few things over getting this group sorted out. Things are finally settling down, and I should have the time this week to add everyone and put a new admin in place. Again, I'm very sorry for taking so long; thanks to everyone for your patience.

My apologies for not getting things taken care of more quickly, but there's going to be a further delay; I'll be out of the country for the week, and won't be able to address things here until then. However, I do have some good news- we have a couple very good candidates for new admins!

In the meanwhile, feel free to comment on this post if you wanted to join or submit art, and haven't received a reply. That'll guarantee that i get to it :)

Hi folks, just letting everyone know, since there have been questions:
Photographs of personal collections of Transformers may not be submitted through the club. This does NOT include kitbash/custom figures which have you have modified to be visibly distinct from the original, but does include custom figures from other artists.

This is due to a need to keep the club within the rules of FA, as stated in the Acceptable Upload Policy:

"Basic Quality/Content - Photographs of poor quality (grainy, blurred, out of focus or washed out) or images meant to showcase personal collections (e.g. commercial items, toys, games, movies, stuff animals, etc.) must be uploaded to Scraps. Photographs of art, or items which are in full compliance with the By You/For You, are acceptable provided they meet are of a minimum quality."

In other words, since re-submitted art goes into the club's main gallery, we can't post collection photos. Anything Transformers-themed that would be acceptable under FA's policies is otherwise permitted, so long as it does not violate our other existing policies.

Just a reminder, we're still doing the contest! Anyone who is listed as a member before the contest deadline is eligible, they just need to comment or note us with a link to their submission.

We've only had one submission so far, so for the time being, the next entrant has a 50/50 chance of winning!

Once again, the rules are:
Step 1- Pick a transformers character who has never had an official toy release in any toyline. This includes cartoon/movie/comic/fiction-only characters, and characters for whom a prototype was made but did not see mass production. If you're not sure, check the TF wiki page for that character!

Step 3- Draw, write, or otherwise represent the character from Step 1 as you imagine they would appear in the franchise from Step 2. Any media is welcome, and any amount of work is acceptable- if you want to submit an unfinished sketch, that's fine! Anything is okay as long as it's YOUR WORK.

Voting will take place after the deadline, by club poll. All submissions will be re-submitted through the club.

The theme: every now and then, a great character concept comes along. Sometimes they show up only in fiction, sometimes they're a toy idea that never makes it into production. Show these characters some love!

Step 1- Choose a character which never had an official toy released in any franchise.

In light of a member recently being harassed by some trolls, I'm setting down some rules. This also outlines the benefits of membership- make sure you have a look!

Members MAY do the following:
* Display the club icon on their profile in their Profile Info, Journals, Journal Header, or Journal Footer.
* Submit critiques/reviews of Transformers media and merchandise to be posted via the club journal. These should be sent to the club username via a Note.
* Re-submit artwork, stories, and other media through the club. The procedure is to send a Note to the club username with a link to the original submission, and any further details. The submission must have at least a partial Transformers theme, and cannot violate the club rules as outlined below.
* Suggest contests or other activities for the club to perform. Members may also volunteer prizes in the form of actual TF merchandise, or appropriately themed artwork.

Members MAY NOT do the following:
* Insult, troll, or otherwise harass other members on the club shoutboard, journal postings, or club submissions.
* Submit, advocate, or link directly to images of images which are deemed by the club admins to be of an insulting, derogatory, or illegal nature.

Violation of these rules is subject to permanent banning from the member listing, which means becoming ineligible to participate as outlined above. Bans may disputed via Notes, attempts to dispute via comments or shouts shall be regarded as harassment.

Club admins reserve the right to alter these rules as they see fit at any time, subject to announcement of changes via journal posting.
