Rest in peace Dragonner, and thank you
Posted a year agoI'm mostly copy pasting what i posted on Bluesky already on quotes, but adding a little more at the end, it may be a bit ranty, and i may not be very good with words
"I dont know how much I should say about Dragoneer, i feel like i tried to be empathetic during the rocky times because managing a site as big and old as FA is hell, but i worry about being called a hypocrite because i said one or other thing bad about him that i can't remember
But regardless of anyone think, i still believe is a huge loss, he really cared about the website, and you can't deny it fostered a huge community, and was the introduction for many furries who felt welcome into the community
And the whole thing about the hospital bills before his death stings
I spent most of my life as part of FA, i dont think i really got deep into the community, as i'm not much of doing that, but it's a major part of my life, and i do have to thank Dragoneer for what he created, even if i happen to have not been fair during some outrages
I hope he rest in peace
It feels almost wrong to say 'i hope he rests in peace' because he was going through some absolute hell with his health and the negligence of the american health care system
He absolutely did not deserve to go through all of that
I never knew him personally, but seeing people talk so warmly about their experiences with him and how kind he was is really nice, i hope a lot of them cherish these experiences with him and remember him fondly"
I really wanna avoid going on some angry rants towards people who speak ill of him at the moment, i will take no slander, but i just want people to remember that no matter what, he bought a lot of us together, and kickstarted a huge important part of our lives, you can say it did for the community or go on about 'started your livelihood', but for me i think it's more than that, i consider the fandom more than just work, even if it's a big part of it, it's thanks to it i made so many imporant friends, and was thanks to the introduction of Furaffinity.
I hope FA can go on without him, i know he put a lot of his heart and soul into it, and it would be really awful if we lost it, but i wont be a doomer, all i ask is whoever takes charge to treat this site with the respect it deserves
