On school break: $5 sketches?
Posted 16 years agoIn an effort to keep things from getting TOO boring, if anyone wants a cheap, single character sketch, now's the time!
$5, PayPal only. Digital or pencil. Digital is cleaner, but I'm usually happier with my pencil stuff.
Interested?

Stupid power!
Posted 16 years agoAn awesome electrical storm blew through here last night, and knocked the power out for about 5-6 hours, right in the middle of my usual most active time.
Storms are awesome, and power outages are occasionally kind of cool, but the novelty wore off after about an hour.
Ah well, I guess I should consider myself lucky. Last time there was any sort of storm like this, I lost Internet for 2 days.

Back to Texas
Posted 16 years agoWell, I'm back home in Texas after a few months living with Ozzie and Tavi. How depressing! If I didn't want to be there when my brother gets married in a few days, I'd probably still be there.
Well, I'm in no rush to go back. Not because I don't want to be out there, of course, because I do. The drive is simply a killer is all! I'm sure I'll grow to hate being here again soon, though. Driving halfway across the country is sooo much easier when you're fleeing something.
And who knows, maybe I can figure out some fun times til then. :)

Something I've always wanted to see in Star Trek
Posted 16 years agoFor a really long time now, I've wished that Paramount (or whoever owns the TV rights this week) would put out a Star Trek anthology TV series. There's probably all sorts of very good reasons why it wouldn't work, but I've always thought it would be a great idea. It could span all eras, from pre-Enterprise to post-Voyager and beyond, and give the creative talent to go places they could never go on a normal series.
I imagine them hopping around from setting to setting, with semi-recurring characters and locales when they feel like revisiting them. I can see loose storylines that run between episodes, with something in one time period and location setting up something that happens in another. I can see little strings of multi-part episodes for bigger stories. Of course, there would also be plenty of one-off shows with no particular connection to any other. Now and then, a familiar face from Trek past would surely want to reprise a role, or some other kind of cameo. It doesn't seem totally impossible that they might even could create a new story set as part of an existing show, so long as people don't mind actors with a few more wrinkles then they used to have.
I got to thinking on this today when I read some stuff on the Star Trek Online website. There was a news/documentary style interview with a character, and I really enjoyed it. It gave a sort of vibe that you never get with a Trek show, and probably never could under normal circumstances. It just doesn't fit the format or style. But an anthology series wouldn't have to fit rigid rules, so radical changes in viewpoint would be easily done.

What would people like to see from me?
Posted 16 years agoI am the sort of person who is creative, but has trouble coming up with ideas. I'm also the sort of person who likes to play to an audience. So, in general, what sort of content would you like to see from me? I'm not asking about specifics here. I appreciate the feedback. :)
If you do want to talk about specifics, PM me.
I'll take requests if an idea really catches my attention, but no promises. I'm always looking for ideas, but I'm not looking to be flooded with them.
I'm open to art trades if I like your art. If you're on my watch list, it's a fair bet a trade can be arranged, time and inspiration permitting.
I'll do commissions for almost anything, though playing to my interests helps. Time and inspiration will still be limiting factors, but I'd do all could to finish quickly of course.

Odd problem
Posted 16 years agoFirst off, I use IE7. Let's not get in to the relative merits of browsers here.
Lately I've been noticing an issue where I can't view peoples' submissions. I just get a red X. I can load it in to Firefox just fine, but in IE it's broken. This never used to happen, so I'm wondering if it's me, or if it's FA. Anybody seen this or know anything about it?

Back from the Fiesta
Posted 16 years agoI am home from Furry Fiesta!
How dull, right? This place has nothing going on. and I have school crap to catch up on.
*sigh*
Well, I had fun. I hung out with cool people, some I knew, some I didn't. Did a little shopping, did a little eating, it was pretty great.
I wish I'd done more though. I'm really damn shy and have no idea how to talk to people that don't talk to me first, or that I don't already know. So I really missed out, trapped in my own self-imposed isolation.
I hope I can find my way to another one of these things soonish though! First time is the hardest, I assume.

Furry Fiesta
Posted 16 years agoWell, I'm heading up to Furry Fiesta this weekend. It's pretty close to me, and my former roommate is coming in for it, so it'd be silly if I missed it. It's going to be my first furry event of any sort, so I don't entirely know what to expect.
I look forward to meeting people there!

Second Life
Posted 18 years agoWell, amongst all the crap going on for me right now, I now have a system that I can play Second Life on. Yay!
Err... what do I do now?

Job Hunt
Posted 18 years agoYou wouldn't think finding work would be such a challenge. I'm a fairly talented person, or so I've been told. But it seems this task eludes me.
I really like the convenience of applying to places online, but I do try and visit in person as well when practical. This is less helpful than you'd think. The number of times lately I've been told that a place is out of applications lately staggers me. And then there are the times when I go in and ask after a job I applied for online, and I'm told they weren't hiring after all, or at very least they're unaware of doing so. I should check back when the manager is there next week, heh.
One place I went to wouldn't even tell me if they were hiring, or even the dreaded "accepting applications." He just told me to check the website. Wow.
The one that really gets me is Target. They don't seem to take paper applications anymore. It's all electronic. But unlike ever other place that has a system like that which I've tried, you can only do it in the store. They have two little kiosks, and if those are full up, too bad. They're full surprizingly often.
It's possible I've just not found the right link on the Target website for the job applications,I guess.
A real downside to applying online is that very often you're forced to take the (apparently infamous) Unicru assessment test. It's a winding maze of poorly worded, misleading, and uncomfortable questions that don't seem to have any right answers. I hate it with a passion, and I guess I've never gotten it right.
Anyway, just some random thoughts on the subject.

Thanks
Posted 18 years agoI've gotten lots of favs and watches, and I've neglected to thank most of them for their interest and appreciation.
I've been really uncertain about how I should treat them actually. Reflexively shouting out a thanks feels unnatural and insincere to me. No offense intended to anyone that thanks people in such a way; it's a personal issue. A lot of that comes from the format of page shouts, which have no functionality for giving a proper reply.
Still, I feel like I should acknowledge people. This is a community sort of site after all, and I'd like to be a part of it. As it is, I've rarely spoken to anyone here.
So, in short, I want to thank everyone who's stopped by, and who stops by in the future.
Also, I invite anyone who wants to do so to say hi on AIM. I'm usually on at night, and my screen name is TripHazard1000. :)
(PS. I'm still taking commissions if anyone is interested. Prices negotiable and fairly cheap!)

If a tree falls...: Another tale of the universe out to get
Posted 18 years agoWell, on top of EVERYTHING ELSE, today at around 2PM the big tree in my yard decided to split in half and land on my car, my roommate's car, and the neighbor's car.
Apparently, the landlord is not liable for it, and he's mighty pissed that his insurance is crapping out on him.
The damage to cars seems relatively minor, but it's hard to tell with half a tree in the way. No broken windshields, no obvious damage aside from a big dent in my hood.
Maybe I should upload a photo or two of the damage? Geez.
I was asleep and heard nothing. o_o
Luckily everyone in a 4 house radius came by and knocked on my door, heh.

Please Help?
Posted 18 years agoMy roommate and I have hit upon some really bad times money wise. I'm not sure how we're going to survive the month financially. So I'm calling out to all the nice people out there for help. I wish I knew more of you personally, which is something that's been nagging on my mind for a long time.
I know I'm far from the best artist on this site, and I don't have a whole lot posted here, but if you can spare the cash I'd really be grateful for commissions right now. I'll go cheap, and I'll do my best to draw whatever's requested. I'm open to whatever you're wanting done, and I'll do my best to draw to your satisfaction. I also do some web design as well.
I can take Paypal at triphazard1000@gmail.com. Please message me here or via that email address, or on AIM as TripHazard1000, if you have something I can draw for you, and we can work out the details.
Thanks to anyone who responds. I really appreciate it.

XMas Time!
Posted 19 years agoYesterday I got a wonderful early Christmas present from my parents: a Wacom Graphire4 tablet!
Now I've gotta learn how to use this sucker. Hopefully it'll speed things up for me and I can post more stuff to my gallery, heh. I've been playing around with it, and it's slowly getting easier. It's not quite as intuitive as I hoped it would be, but it will come in time, I'm sure.

Porn?
Posted 19 years agoFor my inaugural journal entry here, I thought I'd briefly ponder on something that's kept me from getting into any sort of furry community type stuff for a long time. That's right, porn.
You see, I like porn. Most people do. Most people even have an odd fetish or three.
The hard part is owning up to it. Admitting it. Risking social rejection because, OMG, you think THAT is arousing?
So now I'm trying to work through that.
And now I have a bunch of porn on my favorites list, because it's stuff I honestly like. I'm trying to balance it out with non-porn though. Lots of that I like too.
Anyone who happens to read this, wanna chime in?
