I knew there was a big twist going into this show but I did not expect it would be a series of nonstop ridiculous twists and I was here for it the entire time

craziest anime I've seen in a long time

sometimes popular things are good

It was pitched as a show about a high school photography club

What was delivered was kind of that but also a lot of stories about ghosts and writing manga

Was okay, had some very neat animation sequences with the specialized cameras the characters had, but I didn’t like it quite as much as yurucamp

I'm usually not big into romance stories but this is one where the leads get together at the start and the rest of it is them figuring things out which is definitely a refreshing change of pace

The mangaka summed up their thesis best

"Love looks like this bright shining thing, but in real life, it's like the pill bugs under the rocks.

In the places where the sun doesn't reach, there's a part of it that just festers, right?

Not including the depressing bits just because your want your fiction to be idealized is a little bit of a waste, don't you think?

Anyway, I'm on the side of the pill bugs!"

uh also if be warned there is some emotional manipulation and sexual trauma in the series so if that's your X card better to stay away

the first half sucked and the back half was an emotional roller coaster

squandered a lot of its potential but not all

it's pretty funny at the start, kinda loses steam at the midway, and then comes back pretty good at the end

what an incredibly stupid show

entertaining though

also the theme song goes unreasonably hard

it's a k-on style "cute girls do cute things" show except instead of putting on concerts they shoot at people

8 episodes of fluff and then it remembers it's supposed to have a plot

also what the fuck is up with the last minute of the final episode

As soon as I heard about this manga I immediately read the first 60 chapters and was quite excited for the anime.

The anime unfortunately didn't really live up to the promises of the manga. I liked seeing the transformation sequences animated but outside of that the animation quality was kinda eh and the pacing was a lot slower than I expected. Pretty shortly after where the anime ends is an arc that would have been a much better finale but they didn't quite have enough time to put it in.

Still very much like the manga though.

Showed it to my friends recently and yeah goddamn while I liked it the first time it was only on a rewatch that I appreciated how real and genuine the entire show felt

definitely for freaks but like wholesome freaks

every episode filled me with a genuine sense of joy

also the dub not bad

like bocchi the rock if everyone was older and some variety of girlfailure

Surreal little comedy / monster of the week kinda show that has a heartfelt, if abrupt, ending

I don't know how to adequately describe this you just need to watch it

it was pretty gay and it's very much gundam

reminded me a lot of ergo proxy tbh

rewatched recently since there's a new season coming after like 7 years

I was not familiar with SAO but watching it with a friend who was made a lot of things make more sense (namely all the stuff about Gun Gale Online that doesn't make sense as a game is inherited from SAO)

I don't think it's a great show but it was a fun watch and the english dub has some pretty solid acting and I'm still interested in seeing what they can do with another season

it's a show about a struggling small business that just so happens to fight giant monsters with robots

kaiju as a metaphor for the ills of capitalism
