Valentine's day. Saint Valentine's Day. Monday.

It all depends on how you look at it. Is it just another day or is it something more to you? In the vast history that is my life LOL I have found that with few exception, it depends on your relationship status.
For the most part, if you are single, then it's (grumble grumble) just another day and thanks for reminding me that I'm single you *$&#%#* And there ARE exceptions to that, but for the most part single= just another day.
If you are in love, or in lust, or in-fatuated with someone, then it's an excuse to lavish them with whatever attentions you can. I don't know what drives us for this one, blinded by sex goggles or potential sex goggles, the thrill of outdoing any other potential attention givers, or just plain old romantic notions, we spend massive amounts of money on this day.
If you are "just together" for whatever reason, then it's a chore, I "HAVE" to get them something, it's (whiney voice) Vaaaalentine's Daaaay. For these people, perhaps singledom would be better, no?
Then there are the "long timers" who remember at the last moment. It's not that they don't care for their loved one, it's that, well, life has a way of taking the glitter off. There are bills and kids and jobs, perhaps school. These people have been together long enough that "they know I love them, but if I don't do anything for V day, they may get their feelings hurt".
Finally, you have those that dislike the day just because "why do I have to have a day that is commercialized and chocolate covered to show someone I love them? I'm NOT doing it!!!". These people will refuse to participate no matter what their relationship status.

So what are you? What are your thoughts? Just another day? Or something more?

Friday was really productive. I got to hang out a little with the ever beautiful ladies from :simplymadd: Who were totally wiped from testing. Hope they get some rest! Or whatever will make them feel better heh. I bought a few more items for the suit, chatted with a blond critter, finished up my feetpaws, and then got some major sewing done. Also, I had a pretty good realization:
I'm doing this for me. I'm making my (very first) own suit and it's almost completely fleece. It's also cute as hell (so far), 100% washable, and COMFORTABLE!!! I've been worried about my choice of fabrics but I think I'm just going to put the worry aside. I like working with fleece and it was inexpensive to get the materials. If I flub a bit, I can remake at a fraction of the price of fur. If it gets stained or ripped or whatever, not a problem to match colors and have replacement fabric ASAP. I've been taking extra precautions to avoid the "pajama" look, but if that's what people think, then I've got the coolest fucking set of PJ's I've ever seen! LOL Still want her to be more plush and full looking as opposed to form fitting, and not really wanting to wear a body suit with tons of padding. Right now it's just kinda...baggy? We will see what I come up with. May have to tread Fiesta with baggy butt and then get the padding in later.
Onward! Feet are 100% now! The wings, tail opening, and back markings are all done and attached to the body of the suit. Boils down to: Need to finish and attach the chest area, then get the markings on the hip/arm/and leg. Then, handpaws. Lastly: The head. Still a long way to go, but I've been pretty good about working on her at least a little each day.

WoW!!!!

Is anyone else's week just flying by??? I got some good work done on the suit last night but tonight has just been a blow off for me. Went out with a friend (usual thurs thing) and we did a little shopping. Of course the one thing I needed, they didn't have Grrr! But no matter, I can pick some up tomorrow.
Anyway, no big updates, just been lazy today. Also, thanks for the watches! It makes a noob like me feel welcome. It's almost 3am here, think I'll turn in early tonight. LMAO!!!!!

Snow day here again.
I'm working on Eeep and she's coming along well. I've got a footpaw completed and the other is about 85% done. Can't say that it's *exactly* what I wanted, but it's a really good start. I think they will do nicely for Fiesta and the next ones will be spot on. The problem with these was just the hot glue getting a little out of hand. **shrug** I really like the idea, so we will see what my experts think, when I finally let them see it **tee hee**
The little wings are all done and stuffed. Just little bat-like things that I wanted to keep soft so I can bounce and eeep around and not get hurt with a piece of wire in the back, and without breaking them.
The tail is glorious and just exactly what I wanted. The only "issue" I have with it, is that it makes a little noise. I'm working on a way to get that taken care of. I've made it so that I can take the inside out and wash the tail itself. It's a long one and will drag the floor, being able to clean it was imperative. Maybe I will take it out and fiddle with it some. But for now, I need to keep going with the rest of the suit before I go back. I've been stopping and re-doing and my time is starting to get very very short.
So there is still a bunch to be done, but I'm working and making my way through it. Even the scary head business is getting addressed.

So I'm attempting to put together my own very first suit. I've already made a "beta" footpaw and will be correcting some things for the next one. LOL And the tail is done, which I love! The wings are ready to go on, and the body of the suit is cut out and ready to go. I have some fur, some fleece, some fimo, some mesh..... I think I'm ready. The pattern for the hand paws is at the ready and I've even got the stuff for one of the toys she gets to have. Dreds are braided and ready to go. BUT THE FEAR HAS GOT ME!!!!
All the other parts of this suit have been relatively easy to do because I have a sewing background. But the head!!!!!!! OMG THE HEAD!!!!!! I keep trying to even get started. If I'm even going to have a partial, then I need a freaking head. The head is the most important part!!!! **POUNDING HEART** I want to try and make this on my own, and I've been doing ok up to this point, but I'm soooo scared I'm going to screw up her head. That cute little face needs to be... well, um.... cute.
Anyway, just wanted to share the fear. LOL I will have to push past and see what I can do. Have to learn sometime.

Soooo my little ferretcubus has purple wings. I just got them finished, not attached yet, but they are sewn and stuffed the way that I want them!!!!! Little by little my suit takes shape!!! I'm SOOOO excited! **bounce bounce EEEP!!!!!!**

Eeep: Grey ferretcubus with dredlocks, purple horns, little purple wings, and a long tail.
Also, I know that the people I'm staying with are bringing multiple suits so I may get a chance to partial with one or more of them? Dunno yet. As far as other costumes, most of what I make is renfaire type stuffs so I may or may not be doing that.

Eeep has a tail now!!!! Soooo it's been snowing and all that fun stuff here where I am and we have had 4 snow days. I'm going nuts in the house, and should have been working on my fursuit ((my first!)) the whole time, but we are also in the process of moving. In theory, we were going to already be in the new house, sooooo all the stuff for her is over there.
Today I broke down and slid my car to the other house and got a few things to work on. Man, the streets are just nasty here. I couldn't help myself though as it was just too much wasted time doing nothing. I am hoping to have at least a partial to wear to Furry Fiesta later this month. Anywho.... I FINISHED my tail!!!!! All the way done, not part way done, not somewhat done, but ALL THE WAY DONE! I've been parading around in it ever since. Too bad it's 2:30am and there's nobody to see it. LMAO!!!!!!

I have often sat and wondered for hours why is is so difficult to get into a new group. Yes, yes, there are the usual reasons, like the people don't know you, or you don't know the language. But tsk tsk to those of us already IN the group who make it so unattainable. What? Do we want to be stuck looking at the same people all the time? How boring is that? Do we feel threatened? Lemme ask you this: What would happen to the gene pool if everyone stuck with "who they know"? Let's ask any European monarchy or Egyptian pharaoh and they will tell you, albit a little unintelligibly, that it doesn't work.
Another problem I have with this unattainability is my own personality. I loooove people. I looooove meeting them, hanging out with them, talking with them. I would love to have a steady stream of new people in my life all the time. I'm friendly, open minded, and easy to talk to. So naturally when I encounter a new group that I want to know, I do so with the gusto and fervor of an overly friendly 160lb Mastiff that has been in the back yard too long, hugging, yipping, and slurping my way into their hearts. (there's a visual)
Or in this case, sneaking into the proverbial group closet and stealing your socks, hiding them, curling up and sleeping in your shoe, then lovingly biting you as I jump eeeping into the air and begging for you to chase me. Hee hee, too fun.
So many times we have to make guarded choices about who we talk to about what. Who we choose to "let it". It's sad really. In the contemplation of the why's it usually boils down to the few bad apples that ruin EVERYTHING for EVERYONE. But those people aside, and you can tell them because of the smell usually, we need to be more open to each other. We are all swimming up the proverbial stream and we can all make use of a little help now and then. So be considerate. How do you treat each other? How do you treat "new" people? If you never let anyone new into your life, then it becomes inbred, predictable, and boring. Safe? hmmmm maybe. But maybe not. You may need the perspective of someone new to open your eyes to something, or someone, who needs changing. Maybe even you. Take a chance on the new, and you just may be a better person for it.
