So some of you may remember months ago I started trying to reach out to the local Ottawa furry community in the hopes of expanding my social circle...but haven't had much luck. The only fur meet-ups are really out-of-the-way and/or at awkward times of the night and I don't use Telegram or Discord (I don't trust live chat services.) So here's plan B: any furs living in Ottawa right now who want to reach out to me? If so send me a note and maybe we can arrange to meet up and a mall, store, fast food place or something of the like. Just a sit-down-and-chat sort of thing. I can provide my e-mail via notes if that makes it easier.

Business has been really slow lately and I could use some extra funds and a reason to keep my art skills sharp, BUT I know most people don't have a lot of money to spare right now and I don't want to burn myself out taking on large multi-character pieces, SO...I'm open for commissions, but ONE character with simple background only, please. (if the character is wearing tights/pantyhose it will also help motivate me. ;3) My YCHs are also still open.

Since SoFurry has been down for maintenance for a while now and I don't know when it wuill be back up again I've been busy the past week upload-dumping some older artwork to Itaku as yet another archive. I can't post EVERYTHING there as they still don't accept photos for some bizarre reason, but I've re-uploaded over a hundred old (and new-ish) drawings over there. I'm not planning to become particularly active there anytime soon aside from archiving art as I'm still a bit confused by how the interface works but just letting you all know that my account there isn't completely abandoned either.

Has this happened to anybody else? It's not just the sneaky Google and Twitch ads getting through, but ALL ads on EVERY webpage, including here. Even the generic plug-in adblockers used to have no trouble blocking most of those. Yes I went into the settings to make sure the adblocker was turned on but it makes zero difference.

I found a temporary fix by downloading a more generic adbocker (some one I used for Chrome) into Brave. It's not as good as Brave's adblocker was before it stopped working but it's better than nothing.

For many years now I've thought about how while for plantigrade beings like humans high-heel pumps can cause joint and foot pain if worn too often since they force the feet into an unnatural position, but for digitigrade creatures whose feet are always in that heel-up position...could they be beneficial> I can't get the thought out of my head of high-heel orthopedics for digitigrades. Am I the only one who's had this thought?

Regardless it gives me more excuses to draw digitigrade Pokemon in stilettos. :P

Earlier this year you may remember I started trying to get in contact with other furries in the Ottawa area, and I still am, but due to how remote and secretive this city's furmeets are it's kinda difficult to find time to attend them. So far I've only been to one once and that was a couple months ago. And yeah I can't get Telegram 'cause no mobile device (I don't trust anything that both has A.I. and a built-in camera and/or microphone in it), and I'm still reluctant to get Discord (never cared much for live-chat-style apps/platforms. Too awkward.) Since there's only like, three weeks left I'm probably not gonna be able to go this year. I'm not dragging a non-furry friend to it when I know they're not gonna get much enjoyment out of it. But there's still Fanaticon on one week and Ottawa ComicCon in September so it's not THAT big a deal if I miss one convention.

As per usual I want to do fursuiting skits for events (in this case Canada day), but my mind is blanking on the details, set-up, punchline, etc. No guarantees your suggestions will be used, just wanna bounce off some ideas here.

Also remember I have an almost nil production value so I can't do anything too extravagant.

So a little over a week ago I finally got around to downloading and laying TUNIC (I've seen bits and pieces of other playthroughs already and it was on my "I might play that some day" list for a while), and now even days after beating it I can't stop thinking about it. But it's hard to talk about the game without spoiling it because...well to try and be as spoiler-free as possible...EVERYTHING in the game is part of the lore. Yes the fictional language most of us have seen and heard about, but also the in-game manual, the buttons on the controller, the shape of the over-world maps, even the freaking status bars and pause screen. Every...single...frame...on...screen...has secrets within secrets within secrets and three years out players are still finding more. Also we've all seen the player character (dubbed "Ruin Seeker" and they're freaking ADORABLE I want a plush of them. :3

However I have no plans to do a Let's Play of the game anytime soon (I prefer to do Let's Plays of older games from when I was a teen), and plus I still have a few ongoing Let's Plays I want to finish before I start any new ones. I already have a few games slated to pick up for Let's Plays after my current ones are wrapped up.

I will ask that people try to refrain from talking about spoilers in the comments here in case people who haven't played or beaten it yet see them, but you can note me later if you have lore theories you want to chew on. REALLY hope the game gets a sequel soon.

To finish off, here are some (hopefully) spoiler-free tips for new players who may find themselves getting stuck or struggling with the mechanics of the game and they don't want to just look it up (like I admittedly did.).

There are a fair number of scenes from movies many of us grew up with that later in life inspired very particular themes of art (the drowning scene from Aladdin, the muzzle from Lady and the Tramp, the curse from 1999's The Mummy, the various hanging scenes from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies), but it just occurred to me I've seldom if at all seen this concept depicted in furry art (a small rodent or rabbit tied to a tree/bush with a little bell to serve as bait; though I'd add a gag to said bait and swap out the human for another furry critter either foolishly running in to try and rescue their fellow or eyeing a quick snack. >;3)

I'd be happy to incorporate such a concept into a commission if anyone's interested. If not I just gave you ideas for artwork of your own. You're welcome. ;P

Long story short, months back I started exclusively accepting and uploading art commissions on Weasyl 'cause of the whole terms-of-service confusion on this site regarding short Pokemon (particularly Riolu in my case), you can dig through my older journals for details on that, but now that most of that seems to have calmed down I'm thinking I may start posting certain kinds of commissions here again as well. My rules and prices are all the same (for now), and all art will still be posted to Weasyl first by default, but depending on the subject matter of commissions moving forward I may post them here as well; ones I know won't be problematic in any way. If they haven't already, I HIGHLY recommend the FA staff employ one of these "A.I. tarpits" to protect the rights of all artists on this site. It's time to go full John/Sarah Connor.

While Ottawa has plenty of furries, actually finding them in a setting where you can just sit down and get to know each other is...really hard. Like yeah, I walk by a few at every small convention I go to but everything's always so busy, I'm going one way they're going another...there's never a chance to just...chat, you know? And yeah I know there are furmeets in the city but they're all invite/word-of-mouth only, and since I don't yet have any IRL furry friends to start with...kinda hard to get to one of these furmeets.

That's why I'm posting this here, in case any fellow furries in the Ottawa area what watch me here can help me out with this.

Yeah I know YouTube channel plugs are kinda spammy and such, but as the title suggests, sometimes it's the only way to get a YouTube channel's momentum going.

So for a while now I've had enough subscribers for the Partner program (I'm currently at 1172, it's been hovering around that for the past couple months), I'm still very much short on the yearly watch time hours front (currently at 784 watch-time hours in the past 365 days out of the required 4000 hours.) In the past when I've made this self-promotion channel-boost journals I tried to focus on just getting the subscribers and watch-time hours up (which does help), but it's come to my attention the only way to make sure that viewership continues to sustain itself is if the algorithm is trained to promote my channel to new viewers, and the best way to do THAT is by increasing engagement (mainly likes and comments.)

So I'd be very grateful if those of you who already watch some of my videos took some time to click the like button on a few more of them that you haven't already, and comment if you can. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, a simple "Nice" or "Cool vid" should be enough to get the algorithm to take notice. If you haven't watched my videos or subscribed yet, I invite you to take a look and maybe consider subscribing if you like what you see and want to see more. I'm hoping once my videos start getting promoted to the main YouTube page to a few more people my viewership should start snowballing and (hopefully) I won't have to keep constantly plugging my channel on art sites every other day.

So after over a month of waiting to hear back from the FA staff after appealing this following the TOS update, https://www.furaffinity.net/journals/unownace/2/, I was basically told "We reviewed all the removed posts and divided them into three categories; Totally fine, unsure/depends, and probably not safe." So this evening I've been systematically re-uploading the ones in those first two categories to my gallery here. While I still enjoy doing commissions (on the rare occasions I get them,) the mounting factors that complicate things (FA's unclear policies, my own limitations as an artist, people just not having money to spare on art and most especially now all the geopolitical chaos happening), I don't know if commissions are a viable source of income anymore. I'll still consider offers when I do get them, but frankly I'm not expecting to get any for a long while.

Being on disability, I can't do shift work, so the only way I can make extra cash (my disability pension pays peanuts) is through content creation. So far this has entirely been through art commissions as my YouTube channel lacks the minimum required watch-time hours for add revenue eligibility (I'm currently at 861 yearly watch-time hours, I need at least 4000.)

I don't want to sound spammy...but now would be a really good time to check out my YouTube channel and maybe watch a few videos. Subscribe if you like what you see, like and comment, all that stuff.
