I decided, what the hell. I'm probably going to lose a good chunk of my watchers over this, but while I'm still fond of it, my user name here just doesn't fit me anymore.

I'll be transitioning over to the new account slowly over the course of the next little while. I've got a number of outstanding commissions that are still due to come in to this account. Plus I don't think the admins would be amused at my uploading almost 800 submissions all in one go. I won't be abandoning this account completely, either. I've got a lot of history here and I'd hate to just wipe it out. So  veloxfox will become my writing account. She says, as if she ever posts her writing!

I'm sorry I don't have time to go through and thank everyone personally, but it means a lot to know so many people would follow me if I decided to switch accounts. I'm still not entirely certain I'll actually do that, but if I do I'll certainly let everyone know where to find me!

Long trip, and I hurt all over more than anywhere else. Thank goodness my brother hired professionals to do most of the serious moving, but I got to tote televisions and more boxes full of books than you'd believe. So yay, I'm not dead in a ditch somewhere. Though not for lack of effort on the part of several trucks.

Well, in an hour or two, at any rate. I've still got to stuff some clothes in a bag and there's no point in getting there before everyone's home from work. But yeah, gonna go help my brother and sister-in-law into their new place. Nine years, and this is what they ask me down for!

Miss Luddite here doesn't own any of those fancy mobile devices that will let her check FA on the road, so I'll be out of touch 'til I get back. I hope to be back home Tuesday evening, unless there's a big snow or the rest of I-75 collapses in on itself. But I'm sure you guys'll be just fine without me 'til then, right?

My brother and his wife have just bought a new house down in Tennessee, and since my sister-in-law is on bed rest due to being pregnant with twins, I'll be going down to help my brother truck their things over to the new place on the 4th. He's hired professionals for the big stuff, at least, so I don't plan to be down there more than a day or two. But since it's possible someone might be crazy enough to want to get in touch with me during that time, I thought I'd give you guys a heads up.

I'll be going back down there around the 26th, too, which is when my niece and nephew are scheduled to be born. Which will add a third set of February birthdays to the family, and means I've got to figure out just what sort of gives a devious aunty can give to the kiddies to drive Mom and Dad nuts! Good thing I've got a couple of years to think about that one.

I promised myself I wouldn't do this anymore. But I'm feeling kind of lonely and more than a bit discouraged, so you have from not 'til whenever this drops off everyone's radar to ask questions if you like. Me, my characters, whatever. You know how it goes.

01. Lost your virginity? Nothing like a predictable first question. I was 19.
02. Lost someone close to you? 12. This was my maternal grandfather. Wish I could have gotten to know him better.
03. Consumed alcohol? I honestly have no idea. Probably 14?
04. Received a kiss? 19.
05. Went to the hospital? 9ish, I think. For what, I ask leave not to say.
06. Had a broken heart? 19. My first girlfriend did a pretty good job of fucking me up. Which was, by her own admission, what she set out to do.
07. Lost a pet? 8 or 9, I think. I've lost so many. Farm life isn't exactly easy on animals, y'know.
08. Got arrested? Nope. I've done a lot of stupid things in my life, but I've never broken the law on a level beyond my one speeding ticket.
09. Broke a bone? 16, and boy did I. Two bones in my left arm, and all the bones in my right foot. Cars'll fuck you up, kids.
10. Got a job? I worked off and on all through my undergrad days, so 18.
11. Got a boyfriend or girlfriend? First girlfriend was at 19. First boyfriend was 32, and I'm pleased to say he and I are still together.
12. Went to a concert? 28. Bob Dylan came to my part of the world, and as I was pretty much raised on his music I just had to.
13. Met someone famous? I believe I was 26 when I met Peter Beagle. Not the biggest name in the world, I know, but it's not every day you get to meet your biggest literary idol.
14. Got in a car wreck? 16. See No. 9 above. I hit a tree, and then a pickup popped over the hill and plowed into me, and when I saw the car later it looked like it had been through one of those crushing machines. The car was manufactured one year before airbags became standard, so the only thing that saved me was that I wore my seatbelt and the fact that the engine dropped out the way it was meant to.
15. Dyed your hair? Never have. I'm boring like that.
16. Flew on an airplane? I was 18, and I flew from Cincinnati airport to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.
17. Went to another state/province? Oh gosh, I don't even know. I think I was 12 or 13 the first time I went to Ohio.
18. Went across the country? Well, if you count South to North rather than East to West, I was 30 and, over the course of a few months I went from southern Florida to somewhere in the middle of Maine.
19. Went to another country? I was 18. See No. 16. That trip actually covered several countries, including France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. To be honest, my favorite of the four was probably France, though I liked them all. But the people I met in France were really nice to me.
20. Got a tattoo? Nope. Don't have any. I've thought about it, but I can't think of anything I'd want permanently printed on my body.
21. Had a piercing? Believe it or not, I have none. Megan can pull 'em off with a certain style. Me? Not so much.
22. Smoked pot? Never. When I was 22, my house mate at the time said something about bringing in some pot once, but then he changed his mind because, he said, he wanted to keep a clear head for Finals week. Personally, I think he was just blowing smoke (hahaha, yes, funny), but it saved me having to crash on a friend's floor for a few days anyway.
23. Smoked a cigarette? 19-20. Yeah, yeah, cigarettes are Satan, I know. I quit a year later, and save for a few lapses when I was younger I haven't touched them since. Though I still want to.
24. Went to Disney Land or World? Uh, which one's in Orlando again? Yeah. Big yawn. I was 16, it was a school band trip, and I was bored out of my mind. All I remember was being forced to watch The Lion King for twelve straight hours on the trip down there and that the Universal Studios theme park was a hell of a lot more fun.
25. Had A Long term relationship? Well now there's a tricky question. My longest relationship lasted for seven years, off and on, and I started dating my now ex-girlfriend when I was 26. But I didn't know it was going to last that long when I started, did I?
26. Dated somebody of another race? Never have, though there was this one young lady who I carried a bit of a flame for, for a while.
27. Passed out from drinking? Hey now, I'm not that much of a lush! I drink on occasion, but I've never been that irresponsible with it even as an undergrad.
28. Became a furry? I discovered the fandom when I was 19. But I was raised on fantasy and talking animal stories, so I've always sort of leaned this way.
29. Went to your first non business / work related convention? Nope. I almost made it to a furry 'con once, but I let my ex-girlfriend talk me out of it.

Also, I've been giving Silver Street a last minute spit and polish to cover up the more embarrassing errors before I post it. And now I kind of want to get some more of my antagonist characters drawn. Because my bad girls and boys don't get enough love. Or hate.

As anyone who has been following me for a while has seen, I like to commission artists to draw Megan in bondage. There's something about the idea of being tied up that I find very appealing on several levels. I like the thought and the artistic flair of it. And I think there is an artistic side to bondage, in the careful way the restraints are placed and the way it showcases the human body, whether that body has been translated into a furry character or not. It requires a level of thought and attention to your partner, or yourself, that you rarely see in any other activity. You cannot tie someone up, or be tied up by someone, without being very much aware of them and thoughtful of them. In that way, I think it can be a very tender and romantic act.

I will admit that, yes, I do get a thrill out of it, too. It's a very sensual act, too, and it's probably one of the most intimate things you can do with another person.

However, where I think I may diverge from the beaten path is that I'm not really interested in bondage as an act of submission to another person. When I commission pictures of Megan in bondage, I do not actually imagine her being tied up by someone else, even with the most blatantly sexual pictures in my collection. Rather, I imagine it as more a performance, if anything. That she's there to be admired and looked at, but not touched. It is, I suppose, a very peculiar form of narcissism, in that Megan is "me" and yet I enjoy looking at her as much as anyone else. That, and, I suppose I enjoy teasing people far more than is good for me. Especially since I have no interest in delivering on those promises, except for my darling boyfriend.

I suppose, in simpler terms, I'm a stuck-up bitch who is in love with herself. Sorry, guys.

I promised myself that I wouldn't make or adopt any more characters, at least for a while. I want to focus on getting art and writing stories for the ones I already have. But... I want a bear girl for my roster now, too. I've been seeing so many cute bear girls around lately, and I just wanna hug 'em all.

Also, if anyone has any tips or tricks to avoid being blinded when you have to drive pretty much straight into the sun, lay 'em on me, please! Mom still can't drive very well, so I've been picking her up after work every day and the whole trip in is spent pretty much driving into the sunset. And my eyes are shit enough as it is. Never mind. I'm a total idiot.

Is that it can totally spoil your stories.

I spent a good chunk of 2012 doing a last minute polishing on my second novel, The New Girl at Silver Street, in hopes of actually posting it for you fine folks to read this year.

The trouble is, I don't wanna. I've always been fond of Jessamine, and what I've done with her here on FA has made me fall in love with her. And that's a problem because, to completely spoil the ending, Jessamine dies. Not for lack of trying on my part. I never kill off a character unless I have to, but there was just no other way it could end for her. And I want her to live too much now.

Silver Street is also the darkest and most disturbing thing I've ever written. The story has to do with sexual slavery and contains instances of rape and abuse toward women, sometimes in detail, as well as murder and outright bigotry. I did my best to handle things tastefully and with some degree of tact, and I certainly don't think the book runs toward fetish or the endorsement of any of the listed themes. But I've always been afraid that it would upset people to an undue degree and I've always been timid of discussing it, never mind posting it. Which may be ridiculous, as there are still far worse things on FA than anything in Silver Street, but of the two people who have read it so far, one was so freaked out she couldn't finish it.

So I don't know. I might still post it if people want to read it, even with the spoiled ending. But given that I've been sitting on this damned thing since 2008 and it's still not up to my standards I might just pitch it and enjoy Jessamine for her beautiful self.

I'm bored and too sick and sleepy to want to do anything to amuse myself. So while there's a little Tuesday left, let's ring in the New Year with some questions.

As always, you can ask about me, my characters, or whatever you like. I won't guarantee intelligent answers, but I'll try.

I've been debating on whether or not to get more art done of Abigail.

On the one hand, when the real Abi gave me the character she insisted that I treat her as my own in every way, and she pretty much demanded that I continue to get commissions done with her.

On the other hand, I'm not sure it would be fair to do so, as I certainly don't want to do anything that seems like I'm trying to impersonate my friend. I know, too, that she had a number of other friends who cared about her, and while I didn't know most of them myself I don't want to upset or offend anyone, either.

How did the parent(s)/caretaker(s) treat him/her growing up?: Fiachra has always been
close to her grandmother, and it's likely she takes after Saorise more than she does
either of her actual parents.

Whatever you guys celebrate this year, or if you don't celebrate anything at all, I hope tomorrow will be a wonderful day for you, filled with love and joy and the people you care for.

As for me, I get to spend tomorrow with my family where I'll have the pleasure of trying to pretend to be someone I'm not, and where I'm sure to get reminded of what a failure I am compared to my brother and my cousins. But what else is Christmas for, right? At least they'll feed me, and if there's anything my aunts and uncles are good at it's cooking.

On a much more cheerful note, Eliki and I have been dating for exactly one year today, and what an incredible year it has been. No matter what troubles came up he was always able to cheer me up and he is one of the sweetest, gentlest guys I've ever known. So here's to my darling kitty, and many more years to come. Eliki, you know I love you dearly and I can't thank you enough for all you've done for me. *Hugs tight*
