What is up with people and Twitter/X?
Posted 2 years ago
I've got more art about to be uploaded. Sorry for the spam :), but a small message. What exactly are you doing?I don't know what is going on with folks but I keep seeing the hate and grievances folks got with twitter. Yeah sure Block is getting nixxed, I get it but my feed is made up about 95% art and 5% games with very little in the way of drama or rage content. Want to know why? Because I only engage with art and game content and do not engage in debate or clickbait on the platform. Thus I only ever get fed artistic content I am interested in from Twitter.
There was a time where I kept being inundated with AI related trash and get rich quick schemes but I kept flagging them as not-interested as while I am intrigued by the use of AI as a tool, these scams are obvious and annoying so I discard them.
Social Media feeds on emotion, especially your negative emotions. Anger, frustration, bias and tribalism is what feeds clicks, engagement, and addiction most on these platforms and because of that it also feeds advertisers. They are actively encouraged to provide you content that potentially ticks that button in your brain unless you actively only engage with that which you specifically want out of the platform, which as I said for me is art and games.
What I am getting at is that when anyone complains about getting constant hate or rage content on their twitter feed or other sort of drama, then honestly I feel that you have only yourself to blame for actually engaging in it at one time to cause the algorithm to start actively feeding you more hate and rage. Leaving for another platform is not going to solve anything. It may be a temporary reprieve but social media and algorithms are generally all the same. If you engage in the same behavior that lead you down that path, it will happen again over there and you will complain again and again and again demanding for another platform in an endless cycle.
You need to harden upProcess of creating a new account & Life Update
Posted 3 years agoDang it FASo I got fed up waiting for a name change feature to occur and I'll just up and create a new account fresh and new when user registration re-opens up. I've got a few plans for things getting set up and primarily it is to re-orient the direction of the gallery to focus more on higher quality items and submissions. The old account will remain open in the foreseeable future and I'll make sure to give you all plenty of up time for when I make the gallery move.
Dang it KirunoAs for the reason of why I am making a gallery move, the user name is painfully painfully outdated. It is based on an old username I picked during the gamer-forum days where usernames were always taken. Think of it as basically a guaranteed nobody-has-picked-this-name out without using a deliberate number like 022 or 141 at the end of the name. Those are gawdy. So whenever I log into my account or buy a commission and see my account name lashed onto it I feel like an immature 12 year old. It's really distressing and disgusting to be honest with you. Likewise being tied to the old gamer name I feel uncomfortable with uploading or dealing with any kind of Mature or Adult content. The gallery began as a purely SFW outlet and kept to that self-promise for over 10 years, the new gallery may have sections dedicated to the more spicy content. Failing that I'll make a dedicated AD account.
Dang it lifeI've been job hopping a few times over the years and I am now in a half decent job. It isn't the best or optimal of jobs as my income actually precludes me from even living in an apartment or owning a vehicle. All the bills added up with this lousy inflation I am down by $20,000 for any kind of reasonable living. So for the past 5 years I have been working my butt off around my location getting better pay. Hopefully I can get a job with an -actual- living wage and not the fake one we're advertised on TV. You really need $90,000 to actually be able to live comfortably independently without worries and I don't make anything near that at all!
The upside is that I have begun learning Blender and have been doing some tinkering in VR Chat. Distinct possibility but I may be able to do custom VRChat avatar commissions someday :).
Soooo... Art!
Posted 5 years agoGet a LifeAnd so I did. I got a new job, finally. Pay is weird, work is not as evil or awful. I don't go to work wanting to kill myself anymore so that's a plus owo. But it's a more time consuming job with waking up at 5am and arriving home at 4pm so we're talking an 11 hour turn around of the day just being utilized.
Sooo... the ArtI've been commissioning a ton of art lately and I've been reticent to upload them on this account. I've also made a ton of reference sheets for my friends so I should give them an upload. But I'll do it at a steady pace. I'm considering creating a secondary account for potential nsfw content but I'm not sure about it.
Go to SleepHaving a Job Sucks (But for a different reason)
Posted 7 years agoThe Money ProblemSo I'm a gamer, or was I guess. But something happened, I began to lose interest in the things I liked. It's strange ya know? Funny like. Personally I blame depression, it's like 99% to blame for everything. But thanks to my lame job strange stuff has been happening, like more money than I am used to. This isn't true of course, all that money is being used for bills and payments but there is still a degree of savings and recreational spending for the sake of sanity that I never had for most of my life.
Think about it, going 20+ years of one's life pinching literal pennies and begging others for help then suddenly being able to toss $60 or even $120 into something because it fit the monthly spending budget? It's surreal even, and in this day and age of Humble Bundle and Steam sales I've ended up with pretty much every videogame I've ever wanted all at the same time. This as it turns out is a problem because of psychology!
The Dark SoulDark Souls you see is brilliant. If we as people do not hold onto a purpose, a goal, we wither away. Likewise when we attain our purpose we lose it unless we find anew. I kinda had the same way with games. I bought too many at once whenever I wanted when it fit into my budget, now I'm sitting on many unplayed and emotionally wracked about it. I now feel less accomplished and less willing to engage in them one by one because the value of having spent money on them has lessened than when I was a child having to pinch pennies. Back then when I tossed $10 into a shitty game I played the shitty game because I put my savings into it. Today that's just a blip, a fingernail of effort.
The UpsideThis means yes I've been drawing more art whenever I can as it has been more accomplishing than gaming :P.
New Horizons (not the spaceship)
Posted 9 years agoDETERMINATIONYou all probably have noticed a dearth of new content on my alley here. It's not anything serious, in fact it's very interesting for I have 2 good news and 1 bad news. I shall further explain the small details.
- I have purchased a new art program a while ago and am getting the hang of its features. I must say.... it's impressive. It's far better than Photoshop at general illustration and I can actually do detailed soft shading with it! Amazeballs.
-I finally have a job. A bit of a lousy part time job but it's not as terribly bad as I'd expect. Plus... I get to toss meat around, though I may end up smelling like fish.
-I have a job. Which means work 5 days a week ranging from 6 hours to 8 hours. That really cuts into art time. I never believed how much it'd drain out of me but I suppose that's the con to working in a physically demanding job paying the absolute minimum with no benefits of any kind. But hey as they said in Transformers, this is the job before the one I really want. Plus having a guaranteed $200-ish a week without car upkeep like Uber is attractive.

Bro is Making Charcoal Badges!
Posted 9 years agoMy furbro
Zen_Riolu is doing something especially awesome, charcoal style digital badge commissions! He's doing this to help get to AC in September and can make these pretty quickly in a day's work.
Example here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20362288/
If you've got $40 to spare and want something unique, I'd suggest hit up over there.
1) I finally got a job, sort of. Not as bad as it could be but it's local and the town's nice.
2) I have a new art program! I'll be doodling around when I get the chance.

The Rotten Silray Awards
Posted 9 years agoThe Maze Runner - 7/10 "Shrugging Silray"
A movie I felt had an interesting premise but generally felt wasted on making teenagers feel edgy and important.
+Anxious as heck! Edge of seat.
-Teens who are special, just 'cause.
Mockingjay Pt1 + 2 - 6/10 "Displeased Silray"
After being through the long haul, Mockingjay never ceased to thoroughly disappoint me.
+Great set pieces
-Just.... stop.... talking....
The Martian - 10/10 "Kerbal Silray"
Every single moment was me recounting the horrors of being trapped on Mars with my triumphs and failures in Kerbal Space Program.
+I'm gonna Kerbal the hell out of this.
-It's not called The Dunian
Jurassic Park - 6/10 "Displeased Silray"
An enjoyable revisit to the concept of a Jurassic Park though ruined by overdone messages and transient characters.
+A modern Jurassic park is awesome...
-Lousy corporate greed plot
-The two boys could have been entirely left out and the movie wouldn't have changed, it'd be even better actually.
Star Wars VII - 6/10 "The Silray is not with this one"
After Disney nuking the Expanded Universe in which I had spent my entire life swimming gleefully through, I had probably exceedingly large expectations that this movie had better be worth nuking decades worth of mixed though still great worldbuilding. It failed.
+Han Solo was great.
-Han Solo won't be in the next movie.
-Starkiller base is a copout.
-Most of the new cast is boring, until the next movie.
-Disney is making a story to explain C-3PO's red arm, the f*** why is that necessary?
-I should really stop hating on this movie.
Deadpool - 9/10 "Not enough money to include the Silray in this one."
Finally an R-rated superhero movie that had great redeeming value. You have no idea how tired I am of R rated movies that basically lacked any form of value one can take away from the film.
+Deadpool, nuf.
-Most of the film is on a highway bridge. (It only had a $50 million budget)
Zootopia - 10/10 *The Silray has hearts rising from ears*
I hate on Disney, I really do. Marvel's becoming increasingly stinky, Star Wars 7 nearly traumatized me by disappointment and handing EA all the rights to Star Wars games (Yeah, right, good going there), Zootopia made me feel very very happy on leaving the theater.
+<3 characters&everything
- Just barely followed a typical formula.
.
.
.
+Furries
Takeaway Message
The Silray likes the creativity behind these 'Teen' films but find these Teens to be needlessly self important and trying too hard to be 'The One'. Also horomones.
The Silray believes realistically interpreting realistic modern spaceflight and the trials that go along with it are far more entertaining than Zombie Microbes From Mars.
The Silray is tired of 'Corporate Greed' stories because they are too lazily done.
The Silray loves furries. And Foxes. <3Foxes. #FoxBias

So I turned on FA Beta...
Posted 10 years agoI'll just put it out there:
FA now feels less like a poor porn website :P. It actually feels nice in this new UI layout. It's a bit big but it also feels less ugh. Makes me feel pretty good about my gallery now rather than be shamed by how clunky the old UI is.

Should I upload -everything- I draw?
Posted 11 years agoI've not 'stopped' drawing or making art, in fact I doodle almost all the time and make all sorts of crazy things. I just don't upload them because I usually don't think them as being very quality or interesting enough to put up onto my gallery.
Here are examples of what I make and, finished or not, leave hanging on my hard drive:

What Gives Life... (Traditional Commissions Open)
Posted 11 years ago... is an utterly fragging stupid piece of hardware! My precious TabletPC, the last generation of it's type, is on it's last legs. The TabletPC is an HP Touchsmart TM2T, likely the last generation of TabletPC that comes with dedicated graphics allowing it to essentially play games and GPU accelerated graphics for my graphical work. It's 4 years old and is the second-most important piece of hardware I own, next to my massive PC.
So what happened? The fragging powerblock/adapter goes kaput. But not in the literal manner. In fact I'd say it's more of a 'twink' than Kaput. The power head is busted, not delivering power reliably. Honestly I was expecting the battery to go first, before the power block. There's no way in hell I'm spending $80 for a replacement block, and the markets are flooded with unreliable, cheap fakes and knockoffs that barely last more than a few days. I know these pieces of crap as I got one for an older laptop. It failed within a week.
So.. until I locate a replacement that can last a good while and is of reasonable price, my ability to produce digital work is over. But as some of you noticed... I've turned to ye-old graphite and tree pulp. I'll be drawing traditional work for the immediate future.
Commissions are open for traditional media, $15 flat price for drawn and shaded. Higher quality traditionals aren't available as I don't have any other pencil other than a mechanical pencil with 2B lead. My massive pack of pencils covering the entire spectrum of graphites are 20 miles away and I don't have my pack of higher quality heavy paper or inking pens available.
Those interested in pencil commissions, feel free to comment.
Update!
I have my set of awesome art pencils and various tools. Say YES to PRETTY traditionals!

Just in Preparation...
Posted 12 years ago...with the aid of my secret weapon!!!
Oookay maybe a bit crazy on the intro. My dislike of journals in general being mostly past, I'd like to ask my watchers (those who are still alive...) a big question.
I've been preparing myself for commissions in terms of skill building and speed. I'm not as fast as I'd like myself to be, and the weather here has a terrible tendency to make my eyes burn. Still I'm wondering if any of ya would like to purchase a commission?
FYI This journal is NOT a pricing/slot journal, I'm just gauging interest atm. I haven't produced a price sheet yet but I think I have a fair bit of art in a variety of styles that can certainly fill one up.

Looooong Inactivity
Posted 14 years agoI only have one excuse for this: Allergies
This place I'm living in... it is like a vacuum. A total vacuum of my willingness to work. First there's the dry air. Completely arid. My eyes are perpetually dry and pained. Eye drops that advertise to work for 12-24 hours only manage 3 at best here before they start hurting again. The sinus allergies then kick in, every breath hurts my eyes, then comes a soreness on the bridge of my nose that crawls its way up. By that point I have lost complete drive to do anything except sleep or nap.
This is perpetual and daily, nothing I do seems to resolve it. Until recently...
This morning I took a few allergy meds then began some exercise with lots of water. My morning energy was great, except my dry eyes still came. Either way I'll be doing this routine for a bit, hopefully I'll get some drive back. For the dry eyes, I'm afraid I have no solution. Eye drops obviously don't work.

Posted 14 years agoFour months? Damn time flies at the speed of light these days for me.
Just to clue everyone in, I am not dead ;). I am actually suffering from a mentally fatal syndrome called 'laziness'. Believe me, I have drawn a crap ton of things but never really bothered to upload anything. Granted the vast majority of them are lil sketches. I'll see about refining a bunch of these sketches, maybe coloring them and uploading. I'm pretty sure a lot of you may enjoy the antics I've been up to.

Featuring Some Artists. Comment to be Featured
Posted 15 years agoRebounded from
charu because I'm interested in what other's think, as well as expressing what I think.
The first 9 people who comment on this journal will be featured here, along with three deviation chosen from their gallery by myself.
If you answer, you'll have to do the same in your journal, putting me on the first place, completing the list with 9 other people. The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone.
(ALSO, YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY HAVE ART, DONE BY YOU) <---please note - I changed this last part to make it applicable to artists only and get them some free publicity.
ADDITIONALLY - I will not feature Mature or Adult art. However if you are very adamant about it, give me reason of why to feature it and a reason why I should 'objectively' include it if for the sake of quality or style. (-Added by VengenceMkII)
FINALLY - I shall add comments where needed if requested. (-Added by VengenceMkII)
charu (whoops heh, I forgot to put her up! Forgive me
Charu!)
One thing I can say what I like about Charu most is that she is amazing at making art for other people. From requests or commissions, she surprises me by how fluid and varied each creation turns out. Everything she touches becomes cute beyond 11! A favorite artist, and I just blasted hope I can remember to watch more streams ;).

Merry Christmas - List of who I need to draw
Posted 15 years agoMerry Merry Christmas folks! The day of giving has arrived and I have been swamped with stuff I want to do. First on the list is to get to drawing folks stuff that I meant to. It's also the best time of year to perform such givings!
To those who I want to draw for:
RandomOnlooker - for creating a song based off of my Iasha!
Swiftcutter for being such an awesome person and doing free requests for people. That and I owe Swifty a bit.
Virmir He hates christmas, but that doesn't mean I can pummel him with gifts!
Traxer He commissioned me to draw.... and I haven't finished. Must finish!
Tvorsk Tvorsk simply must have more drawings made for him, he's so nice!
And.... many more I think I might have forgotten... in any case I've got quite the handful to make today and other days.

Gimmie a Phoenix Down
Posted 15 years agoFor many months I have neglected to update my FA out of the sheer fact that uploading into multiple galleries frustrates the heck out of me. Comments, key words, ect. Indeed I am a bit lazy. But no fear... I am preparing to resurrect my FA account. However I would like to remind you my fair watchers that I am a tame artist. I do not do mature art, nor do I intend to take those kinds of requests. In any case, be on the lookout. A mass upload is imminent.

FAADD (FurAffinity Attention Deficeit Disorder)
Posted 15 years agoYou may have noticed my lack of posting... but if you happen to have encountered my DeviantArt page.... you will notice I update a lot more often.
Fear not, it is not that I abandoned FA, look at my recent faves and all. But rather it is that I dislike having to upload to multiple websites. It takes a lot out of my time to bring everything from one to another. I may just decide to bring them out here to the network of furries but we'll see about that.
For those who watch but don't see, see my DA
http://vengencemkii.deviantart.com/
I suppose if demand is high enough, I will upload these things to FA. If so prepare for inbox spamming.

You know you're from Georgia when...

I spent 12 years of my life in Georgia. 8 in Germany, whatever the rest is, it is beyond me (I am 22)
1. You can properly pronounce Chickamauga(Chick-a-MAW-ga), DeKalb (de-KAB), Dahlonega (duh-LON-uh-guh), Smyrna(SMERna), BuenaVista(BYOON-a VISS-ta), Valdosta (val-DOSS-ta) , Okefenokee (OH-kee-fin-OH-kee), La Fayette (la FATE),Vienna (vie-IN-er), Seville (SEE-vill), and Albany(all-BIN-nee)
P.S . Atlanta = ADD-LANNA not AT-LANT-A.
I knew Valdosta, Okefenokee, and Albany. The Atlanta thing actually caught me off guard.
2. You think people who complain about the heat in their states are sissies.
Even Georgians complain occationally, but in general I think it is good taste to toughen up. Still... that doesn't mean I won't complain about my sweaty shirt after spending 30 seconds outside. It is the humidity.
3. A tornado warning siren is your signal to go out in the yard and look for
a funnel.
Maybe... honestly where I live a tornado warning is more of an annoyance. Still, safety matters.
4. You know that the true value of a parking space is not determined by the
distance to the door, but by the availability of shade.
Correction. The true value of parking is having any parking at all. Savannah, GA has a severe parking pandemic but lots of shade.
5. Stores don't have bags or shopping carts, they have sacks and buggies.
I personally say carts and bags but sacks and buggies is not alien to me. Personal preference, honest.
6. You've seen people wear bib overalls at weddings and funerals.
7. You think everyone from a Yankee-state has an accent. (I don't speak with a southern accent, I am mostly accent neutral but American in general.)
8. You measure distance in minutes.
Partially. Savannah is 20-30 minutes away, Tybee Island is almost an hour away.
9. You go to the lake because you think it is like going to the ocean. (There aren't any lakes I am aware of. Mostly creeks.)
10. You listen to the weather forecast before picking out an outfit (I used to, my computer handles that now)
11. You know cowpies are not made of beef.
12. Someone you know has used a football schedule to plan their wedding
date.
13. You know someone who has a belt buckle bigger than your fist.
14 Almost everyone you know is either Baptist or Methodist.
Richmond Hill has no shortage of Baptist or Methodist churches.
15. A Mercedes Benz isn't a status symbol. A Chevy Silverado Extended Bed
Crew Cab is.
One of my sister's friends reccomended that I buy a truck. My sister responds "To carry what!? Video games!? You will find a disproportionately large number of trucks down here.
16. You know everything goes better with Ranch dressing. (I hate ranch)
17. You learned how to shoot a gun before you learned how to multiply.
Owning a gun is legal here, and I am no stranger to this.
18. You actually get these jokes and are "fixin'" to send them to your
friends.
19. On one side of the road there's Wal-Mart and on the other is a cotton
field.
I know 2 Walmarts, but I guess that counts.
20. The directions to your house include "turn off the paved road." (False)
21. "Ya'll" is a word.
As I said I don't speak with a southern accent, but I do use this word often.
22. Fried chicken is a major part of your diet
23. Krispy Kreme doughnuts are the only kind of doughnuts you eat.
The local Kroger and Publix sell Krispy Kreme donuts. The legit Krispy Kreme is in Savannah. The last Dunkin Doughnuts has gone out of business years ago.
24. You call it a cold Christmas if you don't break out in a sweat in your
new sweater.
Partly. Yes it is hot here but the winters can get very chilly, frozen grass, numb noses, thick jackets, ect.
25. Your whole town completely shuts down for 1 inch of snow or just the
threat of snow.
Very true... but not quite. Students go nuts when they see it snow at night, but sigh dissapointed when it doesn't snow enough.
26. People actually grow, eat and like okra!
27. You know the difference between a hillbilly, a redneck, and a
Southerner. (Nobody has told me, and I haven't looked it up.)
28. Your dog and your wallet are both on chains. (I guard my wallet zealously yes, but I don't like giant dogs)
29. Panama City Beach, Florida is a big deal.
30. You understand that at least once a year your car will turn yellow with
pollen.
Let me put it this way. It got so bad that the drainage vents in my car got clogged up and water got trapped INSIDE THE DOORS! ANd yes.... my car turned yellow.
31. You know at least one Bubba, and maybe a few guys named Bo. (Where I live, Bubba is an uncommon name)
32. You say "tuna fish sandwich."
33. You use "Sir" and "Ma'am" if there's a remote possibility that person
you're talking to is least 30 minutes older than you are.
Half true. I don't say them unless I know said person is that important... otherwise I am respectful.
And finally...
34. You are 100% Georgian if you have ever had this conversation:
"You wanna coke?"
"Yeah."
"What kind?"
"Dr Pepper."
I had this problem when I was in Seattle where it is all pepsi. In Georgia we call carbonated soft drinks Coke the vast majority of the time. We all know what it means, guh.....
