Want to help decide what I write next month?
Posted 7 years agoIn addition to the Halloween special I'm running through the end of October (there's only a few days left to claim a big commission discount, find out more about it here https://www.furaffinity.net/view/28752178/ ), I'm going to be running my normal patreon content.
That includes the ability to pick the options of the poll that decides what I write. For the next 5 days (until October gets here), $10 supporters can submit their ideas for the poll. The most popular options will get turned into full stories, and I try to do as many as I can.
If you'd rather just vote on what you'd like to see, $3 gets you poll access and the ability to read my stories as they're finished. ($10 supporters get this too)
So if you enjoy my writing and want to help support the habit, please consider pledging ^^

Patreon Page is Live
Posted 7 years agoGood evening everyone
As the title of this journal suggests, I've launched a patreon page to help make some ends meet. Currently, nothing I post there will be exclusive for good, but it will get you early access and the ability to vote on what I do next, and even the ability to pick what we vote on. I plan on adding more perks once the page gets some momentum, but I think this is a good place to start.
If you're interested in any of that, here's a link to the page https://www.patreon.com/WaiteInkworks
I also plan on staying open for commissions and striking a balance between the two. My commission queue is still empty at the time of posting this, so now's a pretty good time to get a quick completion if you're interested. https://commiss.io/victorwaite
And finally, I want to thank you folks for supporting me. I wouldn't have made it this far in my writing without your favorites and comments. And I especially want to thank everyone who's commissioned me. Every now and then it just hits me that people are willing to pay for my writing, and it still blows me away a little. Don't stop being awesome <3

Commissio Monthly Support Snag
Posted 7 years agoI mentioned that I was hoping to have commissio monthly support set up today, but that's not going to be happening for a while. I knew the service was in beta, but it turns out it's not in a usable state for people who don't deal in images. There isn't thumbnail support for PDFs yet, and I can't assign titles to things, so my gallery would just be the same thumbnail over and over without any way to distinguish stories from each other without clicking on them. I thought I could get a work around by posting direct links to the stories on other sites, but it turns out that bypasses the supporter check.
So I'm kind of at a loss of what to do. I want to set up on that platform, because I think it'd be nice to have everything in the same place. I have no idea how long it'll be before that part of commissio reaches a usable state, and I don't think it's a good idea to start on patreon and try to migrate later.
I might just bite the bullet and start up a patreon, but I'm gonna think it over for a day before I try that.

Commissio Monthly Support Planning
Posted 7 years agoSo it turns out commissio, the site I run my commissions through, is developing a service to directly compete with patreon. I've messed around with the idea of opening a patreon before, but I don't like how they run anymore. They leave their artists out of the loop on a lot of changes, and I just generally don't trust them as a result anymore.
I want to take a run at something like patreon, and I think I'm going to do it with commissio's service. It's in open beta right now, but I like my odds with them more than patreon honestly.
Which brings me to the main reason why I'm posting this. What would you folks like to see for content tiers? I want to do a 1$ immediate story access reward, and maybe a poll at another price point, but I'm not sure of anything else yet.
So what would you guys like to see with that?

Open for Commissions
Posted 7 years agoI mentioned this in the story I posted today, but I'm open for commissions again ^^ This time, I'm running things through commiss.io. I've got some stuff at different price points too

Questions about the commisions I offer
Posted 7 years agoSo my job search is going a lot slower than I would like, and I think I've got enough of my writing mojo back to make proper run at offer commissions again. I've got a couple questions for you guys before I open back up though.
First, I've been thinking about making an account on comiss.io and running my commissions through there instead of paypal and google documents. I'd rather do that than keep skirting paypal's rules against NSFW content and messy way of handling digital goods, but I want know if you guys have any opinions on it first.
Second, I think my prices might be too high. They were $20/1000 words last time I was open, but I'm considering lowering them. I have a number in mind, but I want to know what you guys think is a good rate before I say it.

I think I'm back
Posted 7 years agoSo I think things are finally starting to calm down, but it was a bit of a long road to get here. I'm gonna try to keep this brief, but I think this is gonna be a long one anyway, so there's gonna be a TLDR at the bottom of this.
So, for most of 2017, I had a job that I grew to hate. It wasn't in my degree, the hours sucked, and it just generally drained me to the point all I wanted to do once I got home was eat and go to bed. In April, I quit because the lease on my apartment was up and we didn't want to renew, I'd have to stretch my paycheck too thin to make ends meet anywhere else. This meant moving back home with my parents, which luckily in my case isn't an awful thing.
The move was a lot more stressful than I recognized though, and I think it had a factor in pushing me off into a pretty rough depressive episode. I hated myself over what was basically a dead-end job, over falling away from writing and losing my chance to make something out of this, over taking a month to do a single commission again, and a bunch of other stuff I don't want to go into detail about here. I think I came as close to rock bottom as I've ever come, and I was lucky enough to pull myself out of it before I hit it.
TLDR: Thanks to the support and kind words of my friends, I've gotten back into writing, and I've been working on my technique to get more out faster. At this point, I've got around 10 stories done that I haven't posted anywhere, and I'm in the process of editing a ~14k word novella that'll probably get an extension at a later date.
Starting Monday, I'm gonna try to make regular posts. One story a week, every Monday I can. I'm also gonna start using postybirb and revive my galleries on other sites. I'm interested in this partially because I want to get back into things, and partially because I might need to get serious about commissions. The job search is taking longer than I'd like, and I probably won't be able to start immediately because of security checks anyway.

Indefinite Hiatus
Posted 7 years agoThis has been going on for a little while now, so I might as well make it official. I have no motivation to post things anymore, and trying to push through that is screwing with my mental health.
I thought about just deactivating my page and being done with it, but I don't want to do that either. I've got a fair amount of baggage attached to this page, and I feel like I've missed my opportunity to actually make something out of this, but I can't really bring myself to clean house.
I don't have a plan going forward. I might try to revive this account at a later date or try to start fresh under a new one if I ever stop being a dumpster fire, but in either case, don't expect to see anything new here for a while

Life Update and Notice for Commission Slots
Posted 7 years agoIn my last journal I talked about quit my job and supporting myself on writing while I looked for another one. Things kind of went from 0 to 60 after that. Long story short, I'm moving back to my home town, and as of last Friday, I don't have a job anymore. I've got enough savings to last me a little while, especially since I'm moving back in with my parents, but I want to lessen that blow a bit.
So, I'll be opening commission slots tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'll be doing 4 or 5 this time, but I want to give you guys a heads up in any case. I've got a google form set up for it with all the info, but I'll be charging $20 per 1000 words and seeing how that goes. If I get more people interested than I have slots, I'll assign them with RNG, if not, I'll do them in the order I got them
Let me guys know if you have any questions ^^

If I opened a patreon and/or commission slots...
Posted 7 years agoWould anyone be interested?
I bring this up because I'm completely out patience for my current job and looking for other options. I know I'm not going to make anywhere near enough off the bat to fully support myself, but I would like to blunt the blow to my savings while I look for something more permanent at least.
I've got a rough idea.of what the patreon would look like, but I'd need work out some details before it's ready to go. Mostly, I know that everything (with the possible exception of exclusive stories, if this were to go anywhere layer on) would be free eventually. I like the early access model more than the full paywall model. Beyond that, I'm not sure.
I'd be interested in reworking my commission rates too. I think it was $10 per 500 words last time I opened, but I feel like I might need to lower it to make things more accessible.
I want to hear what you guys think about this in any case. If you're interested in seeing a patreon from me, would you rather me open with one-off stories that are voted for, a series, a CYOA type deal, or something else entirely. If you're more interested in commissions, how do you think I should adjust my rate?

On recent events
Posted 8 years agoSo, my creative output has been really low lately. I've been fighting depression and trying to adjust to being a responsible adult, which sucks. I've shifted my attention more towards art than writing because it's something I want to practice, so you guys might be seeing more of that if I ever get out of this slump. We'll see.
But updating you guys isn't the main reason I made this journal.
I think now is a good time to make this explicitly clear. If you're a nazi/altright/altfurry/white supremacist, get the hell out. You're not welcome in this community, you're not welcome on my page.
My content is not for you, and on the off chance I open for commissions again, I do not want your business.

I need some wrestler names
Posted 8 years agoSo, I ended up scrapping the story I was going to do to celebrate my graduation. I couldn't figure out how to balance the plot and the smut, and it just didn't feel right. Instead, I've been working on something I started a few months ago. It was originally going to be part of a larger frame story, but I scrapped that part of it too, since I don't feel like it would add anything interesting to the stories. I've been doing a lot of scrapping lately.
That said, I'm just about done with the first draft of this, and I've started getting my qork ethic in line. I'll have an 11 page wrestling themed story posted in the next couple of days. I'm still looking for wrestling names for two of the characters, which is why I'm making this journal though.
One of the wrestlers is an elephant, and the other is a Russian bear. If you've got a suggestion, let me know here. If not, I'll make myself come up with something less clever and get it posted soon anyway.

I'm almost free, and I've got a question
Posted 8 years agoThis has hands down been the worst academic year of my time in school, but I'm about 3 weeks from graduating and being done for good. Last week was the turning point, and things are finally starting to relax a little bit.
I've noticed that people have still been favoriting stuff, and I've gotten a couple new watchers in the meantime, and I want to thank you guys for that. It's also got me wondering why you watch me. My stuff covers a pretty wide range of kinks, and I'm curious if there's a clear favorite. Working on an 80 page technical paper over the year has killed my desire to write, and I'm looking for something to do to shake the rust off.
As a side note, I've been trying to draw more, and I feel like I've reached a point where I can enjoy the process and feel more comfortable posting it. You guys might be seeing some illustrated stories in the next few months if this keeps up

Going forward into 2017
Posted 9 years ago2016 was a horrible year for a lot of people, and I am one of those people. I don't think I need to go into detail about it since we were all there, but suffice to say I've had personal matters festering on top of it too. I think I'm developing a little bit of insomnia, I'm breaking teeth in my sleep, and I haven't been able to motivate myself to do anything other than survive for the last couple months. Most of this has been a direct result of horribly petty professors, and it has completely killed my ability to write or draw anything. I'd like to say things are looking better, but I've got the same professors again next semester, so I seriously doubt it.
So, what does this mean?
There will be no 2016 story collection. Even though I think I only got like 6 stories done, I don't have the energy to put it together and I'd rather forget 2016 anyway. They'll be included in the 2017 collection provided I can get anything done this year instead.
I'm not going to be reopening for commissions any time soon, and I'm still considering dropping what I haven't been able to finish. It's not right to keep people waiting like this for something that might not ever be finished, and I feel like the quality of the story would be sub-par anyway. I think I've said this every time I've opened for commissions, but I'm just not disciplined enough to do this sort of thing.
Not that I think anyone's coming to my page for my art, but that's probably getting discontinued too for the immediate future. The blank canvas is even more intimidating than the blank page it turns out, and I can't finish anything there either.
I think that about covers it. I'm sorry to the people I've kept waiting on stuff, and I'm sorry to the people who just recently started watching me. I'm not sure if I got mentioned somewhere or what, but I'm going to be pretty quiet for the next 4 months or so. Not to imply I wasn't already.
I guess if anyone has any questions, leave a comment and I'll get back to you. On the off chance anyone reading this is thinking about going to UNF for engineering, don't. You'd be much better off getting the books and teaching yourself or going literally anywhere else.

I live, I die, I live again
Posted 9 years agoI'm finally done with the worst semester I've had to date. I've got 2 more finals tomorrow, but they're basically show up and turn something in, so I'm basically done. I didn't realize how bad it made it made me feel until I woke up this morning after 10 hours sleep, feeling the best I have in literal months. I think I passed my classes too, so the trouble might have been worth it.
I'm probably going to spend a day or two more taking it easy and recovering, but I'm going to get back to writing in the next few days and finish my outstanding commissions. I really appreciate how patient everyone has been with me over the last 3 months or so.
I don't know if I'll be opening again for commissions once I get caught up, but I might need to considering my laptop went out on me a few days ago. It won't influence my ability to write, but I'm going to start missing my games very quickly now that I have time for them. =w=

Resuming Commission Work
Posted 9 years agoI really didn't intend to take this long of a break, but a lot of stuff happened. Hurricane Matthew pushed the test I had originally been preparing for back 5 days, so I had to deal with that on top of studying. My roommate and I survived the storm alright, and I had my test this morning, so I'm going to spend tonight recovering from that and get started writing again tomorrow. I'd start tonight, but 15 pages of math apparently takes my entire daily energy allotment.
Commission Delays
Posted 9 years agoThis semester has gotten a little more busy than I expected, and I haven't been able to keep to my writing schedule as I would have liked. I've got a test next week I need to study for and a group project that's very quickly going south, so I don't know how much writing I'll be able to get done between now and next Friday. Sorry for the delays, and I'll try to get back on top of things once they've calmed down at least a little bit.
Opening for normal commissions
Posted 9 years agoI've decided that I'm going to try to take longer commissions during the semester. I'm going to be opening for two slots, and I'll give them out via random drawing on Wednesday morning. If you're interested in possibly getting a story, fill out a form and I'll add you to the pool ^^
The form can be found here and on my profile page:

Announcement Regarding Commissions
Posted 9 years agoI've been enjoying a bit of a break these last few weeks, but my semester starts Monday, so my free time is about to become much more valuable. I've taken some steps to help motivate me to keep writing while other things are going on, so I think I'm going to try to stay open for commissions when my classes start. I'm probably going to be raising my prices to $10 per 500 words at that point, and I'll open for longer commissions. I don't want to do more than 1 or 2 slots for those at a time, since I don't want to keep people waiting for months, so I'll figure out a way to handle that concern so it's fair to everyone.
The main reason I'm talking about this now is to give everyone a chance to get a discounted shorter story before Monday. I'll take at most two more, and if you're interested, please use the commission form on my profile page or in my previous journal. If you have any questions, let me know in a note or comment ^^

Now open for short commissions
Posted 9 years agoI'm going to be doing things a little differently this time. In the interest of being more centralized and stable, I'll be handling commissions though google forms and email. If this goes well, it's probably what I'll do from now on.
I'll be opening the form for submissions now, but I won't fill slots until later tonight. I think this is more fair to those who are busy during the day, and I think this is a long enough window of time. I'll be opening three slots, and I'll fill them based on RNG at 9:00PM EST tonight. Everyone who submitted a form will get an email letting them know if they got a slot or not, and we'll start planning a commission at that point.
I hope that by doing short commissions like this, I'll be able to stay open through the semester and get to everyone who wants something.
If this is something you're interested in, fill out a form here. If you've got any remarks, feedback, or questions on this new approach, let me know in the comments below.

Interested in Short Commissions?
Posted 9 years agoI'm thinking about opening for commissions, but I'm still working on a larger project I'm not ready to talk about yet and practicing art. I don't want to do anything super lengthy like I have in the past, but I could definitely do things in the 1~1.5k word range if there's any interest there. This type of range is probably best for single scenes or picture descriptions, rather than whole stories though.
TLDR: Would you guys be interested in 1500 word story commissions for $15?

Growth Drive and Friend in Need
Posted 9 years agoHey guys, Fireorca is running a growth drive with one of their characters, and it's being drawn by Jaeh. They could really use the money for rent, so any and all help is appreciated. Donations will also help continue the sequence, so you'll generate some super nice art in the process. They need to make rent fairly quickly, so sooner is better if for this.
The finished parts of the drive can be seen here, as well as more information:

TMI Thursday~?
Posted 9 years agoThere's not usually a lot of interest in these, but let's see how this goes.
As a side note, I've gotten more serious about practicing art lately, and I'm curious how you guys would feel about me posting some of it.

Other Places to Find Me
Posted 9 years agoWhile I don't plan on leaving FA, I get the feeling attacks like this are going to be happening far more often now that the source code is out there. I don't see that changing until the site gets totally revamped, which I don't think is going to happen any time soon. Plus, I've hear that a lot of people lost access to their account in the reset and are having trouble coming back. For all these reasons, I've decided to devote attention to other sites:
Weasyl: https://www.weasyl.com/~victorthemaker
I'm probably not going to update this account with my older stuff just yet, but all my new stuff will be posted there too
Furry Network: https://beta.furrynetwork.com/victorwaite/
This is just a place holder for now, but I think there's a lot of potential. We'll see where it goes.
Twitter: https://twitter.com/GoldenTailFox
For just general updates and such
So yeah, I'm still gonna be posting here, but I'm gonna start posting other places too. For real this time.

Another TMI Tuesday and some Updates
Posted 9 years agoI try to limit these to the first Tuesday of the month so I don't flood you guys with journals, but since I missed it last week, I'll just do it today. Before that though, I have a couple of things to say
First, I still can't meet a self-imposed deadline to save my life. X3 The second fetish roulette story is up to about 1300 words, but it's still not done. I'm gonna work on that a little more tonight and try to get it done quickly. I'd say by the end of the week, but I'd like to avoid shooting myself in the foot so quickly. X3
I think I'm going to try getting more social in the community, and I think Twitter is not a bad way to do that. There's not a whole lot on my account right now, but I'll work on changing that soon. Might even post sketches at some point depending on how learning to draw goes. I'm GoldenTailFox if anyone's interested in that.
And within the next week or two, I'm going to be announcing a new story series~ I don't want to say too much right now because other people are involved, but I want to let you guys know that I have been working on things and not just playing FFXIV all day. X3
That's all I have to say about that, so now it's time for questions, TMI or otherwise. ^^
