Dictatorships and You
Posted 3 months agoWell, here's to Europe going to hell in a handbasket. Take notice of what sites and services bend the knee and enforce censorship and/or intrusive age verification instead of blacking out access, as they have chosen to support the most extreme forms of governmental overreach yet seen outside of the Third Reich, Soviet Union, and Maoist China in the name of profit.
Do not give them your ID, your face, your EMail, nothing. Do not put your identity out there to be linked to your activities, to be stolen, to be used against you. We are already watching, live, as this is abused to censor and governmental agencies, UK-side, are being assembled to take full advantage of this personal information to stamp out dissent.
You can either use the tools at your disposal, or try to wait it all out, however, participating in it will harm you.
We effectively are betting on a coinflip, that this is the last push needed to oust these absolute madmen and fascists from power, or that people are too broken and weak to even mount an effort to fight back.
If the later case is how it comes out to be, well, the internet was fun while it lasted, and I'm delighted to have met so many wondrous and interesting people; I am happy that with my health and advanced age it is unlikely I will live to see the desecration of everything we've all worked so hard to make a reality.

How Not To Administrate: Vagueness Edition
Posted 2 years agoYeeaaah, so, I'm going to reup my shit elsewhere, probably Inkbunny, because, y'know, I don't trust the moderation on FA to actually enforce things fairly or with any real reason or rational, and this is WAY too vague.
