I just wanted to make a small update about our current life situation. Recently my fiancée, Cai, has been diagnosed with teratoma cancer. It was less than a week ago when we were shown the ultrasound scan. Luckily, the doctors managed to remove it surgically. She will be discharged from the hospital today. And because of that we could really use some extra funds to cover up the rehabilitation and recovery period for her! My commissions are still open with a fast turn-around. Don’t be shy to give me a poke via DMs, notes or comments! We could really use some added funds, because I myself am still undergoing physical therapies and exercises due to the ACL knee injury. I wanted to write a small update regarding what has been happening with me for the past two months. Around late June I tore my left knee’s ACL, the same type of injury I sustained 15 years ago in high school. It happened when I was crossing the street while doing errands downtown. I felt a sharp pain and I couldn’t fully bend or extend my knee, and I already knew that something was seriously wrong. I managed to schedule an orthopedic consultation that was due next week. The doctor examined the knee and told me “it’s completely unstable” and wobbly. The knee has been giving me major problems ever since the first surgery, and on top of that it’s been dislocating and wobbling in the wrong axis for a few years by that point. The doctor said that if the original surgery was done properly, it wouldn’t have been like that. I was rather lucky because as it turned out there was an empty spot for surgery the very next day, on the 4th of July. So on the same day as the consultation we rushed to a hospital in a different city. I underwent reconstruction surgery for my ACL as well as LET stabilization. It’s something the doctor suggested. Basically they take a snippet of your iliotibial band, twist it around and drive it to your femur bone with titanium. It’s supposed to prevent unwanted rotations within the knee, offering improved stability on top of standard ACL reconstruction.

I spent the following month bed bound, and a while ago I finally managed to gain more autonomy with daily tasks. The rehabilitation and recovery will take from 9 months up to 2 years, as I’ve been told. I have my appointments with my physiotherapists twice a week, as well doing exercises at home to strengthen my leg and my general muscles. I am finally able to work on my commissions more, as well!
