Car Crash
Posted 8 years agoHey guys...
So I was recently in a car crash and my car was totaled. My insurance will not give me any money for my car and the company that towed it, which was not optional, is requiring $300 for the service.
I also have no money for another car. I have enough for this month's rent and that's it. I can't get to work so I will have no income until I get mobile again.
Please, if you can spare anything, I've made a fundraiser to help me pay for living costs and to help me get started on saving up for a new (used) car. I would appreciate anything you are able to give... Thank you...

Everything is still open, I'm just no longer offering 15% off of fursuit items.
Thanks!

QUESTIONS~
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone~
So, I was updating my site today and I was curious - are there any questions you have about my suits that I should be putting in my FAQ?
I think I covered a lot, but in case I missed something or there's simply something you're curious about, I'd love to hear it!
It doesn't even have to be about my suits! It could be about me or my art as well.
Thanks!
EDIT: My FAQ is available here: www.whaleosaur.org/faq

Bad Rumors?
Posted 9 years agoSo I just heard from a friend of mine that there are some bad rumors circulating about me and my fursuits. As far as I know, it's something about me being a scammer or something? I dunno, but I really wish people would talk to me before saying stuff like that... I'm more than willing to talk about things and work them out if I ended up overlooking something somehow...
Does anyone know where these rumors might have originated? I don't know why it bothers me so much, but I kinda of just want a chance to explain myself or something. ; u ;
Anyway, thanks~

(Ineed maker opinions)
Posted 10 years agoI have this person I'm making a fursuit for... Although they've been pretty understanding throughout my homeless period and has been great about getting payments to me on time (and has his suit already piad in full!) But ever since I broke my foot, things have been going downhill. They've been insisting that I get things done and get them done in unreasonable amounts of time considering my injury.
They've been downplaying the very rare and serious series of fractures in my midfoot, for which I have needed one surgery and multiple trips to the ER. I've been at my mom's house all week and am all looped up on pain meds. I've just been getting frustrated with how little this person cares about my general health.
I'm starting to wonder if I should even finish the product or just give them a partial refund, because I'm tired of hearing about how awful I am for taking care of myself instead hurting myself trying to make this fursuit.
Additionally, I explain in my TOS that I don't do due dates, but I have tried a few times to guesstimate dates by which I might be done. They have all been rough estimates and I stated that they were just that and not due dates. Regardless of that, this person continually issues me due dates and then insists that I have not been meeting them.
They literally said "I know breaking a foot must not feel good but I fail to see how it keeps you from making a fursuit." ...idk, this can't be just me, can it? Someone please tell me I'm not crazy.!

Posted 10 years agoSo, after the altercation with my roommates, locking myself in my room and having obscenities shouted at me from roommates and boyfriends alike, they called the cops on me. I just so happened to have cut, so the cops took me to the hospital and I was there two days. I just got discharged. I'm moving out of that house and will be staying with my aunt and uncle until I can find somewhere else to stay.
Just as I thought my life was finally getting stable, there it goes collapsing on me again.
At least I'm not homeless like the last two times people ran me out of their houses...

Updates to TOS and FAQ
Posted 10 years agoI just made a few updates to my TOS and my FAQ both here and on my website.
In regard to my TOS, I have changed what I will do with the DTD provided at the end of the project, so from now on, unless I am notified that the commissioner wants their DTD shipped back to them with their suit, I will scrap it.
Also, your DTD must have two layers of quality duct tape, or at least three layers of Duck brand duct tape because that stuff it thin and shameful. It is a disgrace to duct tape everywhere.
I also changed the warranty time from 30 days to 3 months, but also noted that the commissioner is in charge of the shipping, because I am poor and often can not even pay $30 for shipping.
I have also added that if you don't want to pay shipping and want to fix something yourself, regardless of how much time has passed since your commission, I will talk you through how to fix whatever problem you may be having for no charge at all.
In my FAQ on my website I also added the bit about the quality of the DTD, and also stated that I will only be doing bodysuit-only commissions for returning customers (aka, someone I made a partial for who wants to turn it into a fullsuit).
I also touched on shipment in my FAQ. I stated that USPS is my default shipper because it is the cheapest option, but that I will discuss shipment preferences with each commissioner based on their needs and budget.
And finally! The big one! Luckily this hasn't happened yet, but I feel the need to add it to my TOS just in case: If for some unfortunate reason your fursuit is lost in shipment, I am not responsible. It is your duty to pay for insurance if you feel it is necessary.
This means that if you don't pay for insurance on your suit when it is shipped out, and it is lost in transit somehow, you will not have a fursuit, and you will also not have any of the money that you used to buy that fursuit. Therefor it is really important that you consider purchasing shipping insurance!
Thank you u v u

First Unboxing Video!!!
Posted 10 years agoOh my gosh,
wonderlandmalice got her fursuit from me the other day, and she made an unboxing video of it!!! Now, I've never had anyone do an unboxing video of a suit of mine, so this was really a special moment for me! Unfortunately, USPS damaged the box in transit, and as a result, a few teeth fell out :C But since it's something that Malice can fix herself without having to pay shipping to get the head back to me, I mentioned that she could just glue them back in herself, which she said she would do.
I am just so thrilled about how happy she is with the suit, though! I hope to get many more unboxing videos in the future!!
Now, without further ado...

IMPORTANT QUESTIONS!
Posted 10 years agowww.whaleosaur.org
On my website I asked a couple questions. In case y'all don't look at my site, though, I thought I'd post the questions here, too.
1. If I were to quit my job and make fursuits fulltime, would you consider commissioning me?
2. Are my fursuit prices reasonable?
3. Any other comments/suggestions?
Thank you!!!!

Angel Dragon Design and Publicity
Posted 11 years agoI'm planning on selling an angel dragon design (because that's all the rage right now) and I wanted a little help with some publicity, because I'm not in any way popular and I'm afraid my great design will be overlooked and not get the attention it deserves. So I went to the only place I could think of, and I'm pretty miffed with the way AngelsNest dealt with my plea.
I sent them the following message:
"Hey, umm, this is probably a weird request, but I was wondering if you could possibly help me with some publicity. I want to sell an AD design, but I'm like 1000% sure no one would see it because I'm not popular. I was wondering if, when I post it, you could possibly give me a signal boost, like a journal or something? ; u ;
Here is the design I want to sell: (I removed this link for this journal)
Thanks for hearing me out!!"
And their response? Not responding to me, blocking notes and making a journal about how they won't answer any questions not directly related to the purchase of angel dragons.
I mean, I don't think they were trying to be mean or anything, but they certainly came off as rude, especially the way they blocked notes and didn't even bother to respond to me personally about the issue. I just want my design to be able to get some extra publicity. I'm not popular or anything, so if I don't seek out some help, it will never really be viewed. If anyone is able to help me with this issue, please let me know! ; u ;

ALSO, Winter photoshoot, anyone???
Posted 11 years agoNow that it's snowed, I want to get my fursuiting on and have another shoot! This time winter/Christmas themed! :D
Anyone in the area of Minneapolis/St.Paul, Minnesota is welcome to ask for an invite, though I expect this will be another fairly small gathering.
Any ideas for when/where? Weekends are best for me, as I work 'til 5pm.

State of the Whaleosaur
Posted 11 years agoI miss being able to just work on fursuits all day....My full-time job is really killin' me, here. I'm not emotionally stable enough to work full-time, but I just can't give up on this job. Wells Fargo will look SO GOOD on my resume!! And making fursuits is just such uncertain work. I could potentially not get any commissions to work on, or have people back out of things - and not to mention it doesn't exactly pay the bills.
Now, if I was charging between 1 and 2k a suit, that would be another thing entirely, but I know that I'm not ready to jack my prices up to that yet. Most of the fullsuits I make hover around the $1,000 mark, but I've never actually made one over that benchmark. Even coupled with my art commissions, I never made over a thousand in a month, and that's just what I need to make in order to live comfortably.
Not to mention that no one ever gives tips ; u ; I've had one person give me any sort of tip on a fursuit, and I think two on art...And I'm already putting way too many hours into suit-making when I'm building one. I make less than minimum wage on these things because I'm a perfectionist, and that's not even counting the re-adjustments and other work I do for free in the month following the completion of the suits.
If anyone has any ideas for how I can be happy and make enough money to live and eat and stuff, I would love to hear them! How do other suit makers do it? I need answers!

UPDATES: Bodysuits and Work Status
Posted 11 years agoSo, recently I finished a bodysuit commission, and I really ended up procrastinating on it...I mean, part of it was the homelessness, crippling depression and trying to get a job, but the other part was just that I...wasn't excited about making just a body suit...I wanted to make something more complete, you know? Making just the body kind of bummed me out.
So I'm no longer making just bodysuits. I'll still do smaller parts like wings, tails and hand-paws, but if you want a bodysuit from me you will have to order a whole fullsuit, I'm afraid.
Secondly, I just got a full-time job working at the Wells Fargo Minneapolis Filing Vault. This means I won't be as fast at making suits as normal. I estimate a fullsuit of average complexity would take me between 2 and 3 months now, whereas before it would take me just 1, just for reference. I apologize for this. It also means that I will be taking on fewer commissions, as this is now my secondary job/hobby job. I really needed this Wells Fargo gig, though; I hope you all understand ;u;
I have a couple of interested commissioners at the moment, and with them in line I don't think I'll be opening up again until summer of 2015 or somewhere thereabouts. I'll also be moving between now and then, so that will make the process even slower.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away!!
