Thinking about furry fiction
Posted 11 years agoHmmm, so I'd like to start stretching my writing muscles on here... I write fanfic for various TV shows and movies already so I know the ropes of ordinary fanfic pretty well, but I'm starting to pick out some details about the way furry fic tends to go. Making notes as much for myself as anything.
Transformation - in which Our Hero gets unwittingly, accidentally or somehow or other turned into an anthro animal. Wish fulfillment much? ;) Also a classic plot device which can be done in a thousand ways.
Vore - I think this one is the flip side of the pregnancy kink I seem to see around in art so much. I mean, a lot of furries are gay men, right? And gay guys can't be pregnant, so how else do you carry someone around inside you to love them and look after them? Simples. Eat them. Welcome to Furry World XD
Gratuitous Shagging - what it says on the tin. The thing I really notice most is that there are so many first times and deeply emotion-driven stories in furry fic; it's not that the sex isn't there in fiction, but it's just not so out-and-out porny as often as the art can be. There's a sort of innocence to the whole thing which I really love. Makes me wonder how good cynical old me will really be at writing furfic, but we'll have to see.

Wooohoo new toy!
Posted 11 years agoSo I got a graphics tablet! It's an old, old, OLD one that I found second hand on Ebay, and it took a lot of googling and arguing with the drivers before I could get it to talk to Windows 7, but it's working! And it's HUGE - it must have cost a small fortune new, but that was like 1998 and now I have an A4-sized drawing surface that I got for £60 GBP (about $95). Happy me :)
I've also found # which gives a bunch of sketching exercises to improve your control of the medium and get your hand-eye co-ordination working when you're looking at a screen inste4ad of the surface you're drawing on. I can also practise with retouching photos and things, or colouring in blanks I find on here... I'm really looking forward to being able to draw properly - I had loads of art lessons at school and I wasn't bad ad it, but I never really got to the point where I was really confident and my hands knew what they were doing independently of my head :)

Writing commissions
Posted 11 years agoSo I've noticed that nobody else on FA offers commissions for written pieces. Would you be interested? Custom short fiction, silly poems, serious poems, atmospheric character descriptions... comment and tell me what you think!
