Wow.
Posted 14 years agoMy last journal was posted 2 years ago. Unfortunately I've been busy, have a job now(almost 2 years, will be in April). Recently I've been fighting to keep tankers off the British Columbian coast and two pipelines(the pipelines are related to the tankers) from the Alberta oil sands from going through BC. It's not only the very real threat of oil spills from the tankers and pipelines, but the old growth trees that are going to be bulldozed so the pipelines can get to Kitimat. Unfortunately my Prime Minister and federal Natural Resource Minister has been calling anyone getting in the way 'radicals', 'extremists' and such. I don't understand how me and other people peacefully protesting and following the law are radicals.

I Love This Quote
Posted 16 years agoI was watching a documentary called "Bears" on Oasis HD tonight when I saw this quote at the beginning:
"If you talk to the animals they will talk with you and you will know each other. If you do not talk to them you will not know them and what you do not know, you will fear. What one fears, one destroys." - Chief Dan George
It's now one of my favorites

Another Case Of Human Stupidity!!
Posted 16 years agoThank goodness the tiger wasn't shot. I would have been pissed if he was.
--> Not the whole article!! Go read it after this snippet!
Two men, both aged 27, jumped a 2.4-metre-high barbed wire fence at about 1 a.m. Monday to enter the zoo.
One of the men scaled the outer perimeter safety fence around the tiger enclosure, which is just over a metre high. He didn't enter the tiger exhibit, but approached the inside fence where a two-year-old male Siberian tiger was roaming, zoo officials said Monday.
The tiger, named Vitali, may have hooked the man with a claw and pulled an arm inside the fence, said a zoo veterinarian. The second man, who came to his aid, was also hurt.

Meet Bjørn
Posted 16 years agoYesterday I went out and found another hamster companion. A somewhat shaggy tan coloured Russian dwarf hamster. I've decided to name her Bjørn, which is the Norwegian/Scandinavian name/word for bear. Thought it suited her, kinda reminds me of a miniature grizzly bear. She seemed to respond to that name quite well actually.
First thing she did to me was nom on my hand. Not bite, but licked and gently put a bite of pressure into the teeth. If she bit me, I'd be bleeding. Why is it that baby animals always nom on my hands?
NOTE: Bjørn is NOT replacing Kage!

A Pretty Song
Posted 16 years agoListen to it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYlFn5q_UQk - Erämaan Viimeinen
For those of you who do not know, Nightwish is a Finnish metal band. Erämaan Viimeinen I think is Last Of The Wilds in English. The original was instrumental before it came to have vocals in it :) Though I like both, I do like Erämaan Viimeinen better. Possibly because I like to listen to other languages. So yeah, the lyrics is in Finnish^^
Erämaan Viimeinen - Nightwish Feat. Jonsu
Nukkuu korpi, ja nyt, aatoksissain minä matkaa teen
Yli metsien, uinuvan veen
Kuutar taivaan yön valaisee
Maalaa maiseman, pohjoisen siimeksen
Unta onko tää,
Vai kuolema jossa palata sinne saan missä
hiillos jo luovuttaa lumen alla
Kun astun maailmaan, erämaan aikaan
Ensilumi satoi kahdesti
Maalasi sieluni taulun
Tää jylhä kauneus ja ääretön yksinäisyys
Lapsuuteni metsän, taivaan
Kaikuu se haikeus halki tän matkan
Aamun tullen yö tarinansa kertoo
Jylhä on kauneus ja ääretön yksinäisyyteni
Sitä henkeensä halajaa
Kehtoni hauta, hautani paikka
Erämaan viimeinen on
Minne katosivat muut
Suon noidat, neidontornit
Ja varjoissa havisevat puut
Kielon istutin ikihankeen
Ja hiljaisuuden tultua luotin tulevaan
Ensilumi satoi kahdesti
Maalasi sieluni taulun
Tää jylhä kauneus ja ääretön yksinäisyys
Lapsuuteni metsän, taivaan
Kaikuu se haikeus halki tän matkan

Random Stuff: I don't know if I told any of you this before so I'll say it now. I'm talking about my nationality/backgrounds. I'm Norwegian, Swedish, Swiss, Scottish, German, English, Irish, French, Canadian, and American. Also, some of my Norwegian ancestors were Vikings :D

An Article On Bear Intelligence and A Relative
Posted 16 years agoI just found out that I am related to this man, Maurice Rambert. He's my great great cousin :) Here are some photos taken by him(obviously the ones with his name). http://www.photographymuseum.com/au.....egallery2.html
Here's a quote from one of the photos "Maurice Rambert was a multi-talented man. In addition to his work as a radio pioneer, he was at various times a railroad builder, a lawyer for a Paris bank, a musician and composer, and a theater director."
I've known for awhile now that bears are intelligent. I didn't even have to do a scientific study on them. And before you say anything, most animals on this planet are intelligent, even creatures like the octopus(there was an article in my newspaper about it). Insects and spiders are also are intelligent in ways(you have to work with them to understand what I am talking about). You do not have to be a human to reason, have thought, or be intelligent. I know that for a fact. Anyway, I found this article fascinating and thought I'd share it with you. There are three pages of it.
http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/bears/19332/1 Page 1
http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/bears/19332/2 Page 2
http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/bears/19332/3 Page 3
The reason I put up links to all three pages is that you may miss the 'Go to page 1, 2, 3 at the bottom of each page(trust me, I've done it. And usually it was for school assignments <__<). So, I hope you find the article as fascinating as I did :3 Oh and I hope you like bears :)

Confuzzled and Stop With The HATE
Posted 16 years agoI'm not really a furry, just to admit that. I'm more confused about this 'furry' thing really. I may say I am, bit I'm really not. Damn it! I'm so confused...... I know I don't make any sense at all, that's because I'm in a lower mood at the moment so I'm also confusing myself. right now I'm upset about a lot of things. My own life, people not caring for the environment etc.
Anyway, this was brought over from my Deviant Art account.
Seriously, there are a percentage of people out there who hate environmentalists and animal rights activists(I'm not a part of PETA). What the hell did I ever do to them? Nothing. What is so wrong about wanting to protect the environment? Or protecting other creatures? Some think that self-proclaimed environmentalists(like me) are bad. Am I a bad person? Seriously, I am NOT an extremist, I don't hate other humans( I just hate what some of us have done to the planet and its creatures). Though, I have had none of this hate directed directly at me(thank goodness) but some of the things people have said towards environmentalists I've found insulting. I am not a tree hugger or a hippie, damn you! I know there are extremists in both environmental groups and animal rights groups. But that is not the majority. Not everyone is an extremist.
It makes me cry that I'm indirectly being called something I'm not. It hurts. It really does. So please, before accusing someone, look at the facts.
Though I do admit that I watch in glee as a oil company is charged/sued for environmental damage or the death of a human or other animal. Thing is, I don't like them. I don't like the housing industry either(ahem, urban sprawl anyone?) Half the time these people don't care about habitat loss. Where are the animals that just lost their homes going to live? Hmm? Answer that. People, please stop encroaching on other animals' habitats.
Really, why wouldn't I be upset?

Reason Why
Posted 16 years agoThe reason why I hardly submit here or come her is because not that many people here bother looking at my art or commenting on it. Sad, but true. I know I am not a 'great' but it is nice if once in awhile if people actually look at your stuff. Anyway, I've been on Deviant Art much longer than I have here. A friend(more a sister to me) of mine introduced me to this site, but now even she is gone. I did however learn a few things from her. Though that doesn't mean I am as good as her at it. Wish I was though.
Seriously. I can't do digital art because I have no art pad thing and I DO NOT have Photoshop dammit! So it's unfair for people to go and always favorite digital art because it looks good. What about the photography? What about the traditional art hmm? Any way, I do try hard to get my stuff to be likable, but people just want to ignore it

R.I.P. Sakura Monday, October 8th, 2007
Posted 18 years agoI woke up this morning and went to check on Sakura, and I found she died sometime in the early morning hours. Sakura was a sister to me. And if anyone says "she's just a hamster", I'll slap them so hard that they'll be feeling it all week. I miss her so much.
