Posted 9 years agoPhew... I'm gonna be 21 years old on the 1st of November!
I feel old... yet I don't at all.
It's probably just the pressure of university work and adult responsibilities making me feel older than I am.
This past year has definitely been the most difficult year of my life, but at the same time it has been incredibly rewarding. I passed my first year of university, and hey, I'm surprised I'm even IN university! I've had a great time living with my boyfriend even though we've had it tough having to deal with my parents and their shenanigans.
I've had a really great time being commissioned bigger and better projects by you guys! I feel like I'm a legit professional artist with the work experience I've had from you guys, and I feel like I'm getting to bigger and better places with the 4 comic books I have so far!
It's incredible!
Thank you all so much and I hope next year is a better year than this one because even though I've had a lot of good experiences... 2016 has sucked for everyone.

Eugh (personal Vent Rant)
Posted 9 years agoSo my dad just sent me another link with the details for an internship for some animation studio in Germany.
And like.... I'm not an animator??
I CAN animate, but that isn't my specialization. Yes, my course says "Cartoon and comic art" but so far of the 8 modules I've studied only one was animation and another one was one where we had to use a software that animated stuff FOR us with a bit of tinkering. Like... the amount of attention my parents pay to my work is not a lot and it's a bit concerning because like.... They should at least understand the difference between animation and illustration but it seems like they don't care??
SO like... just a reminder, I'm a Comic artist/ Fantasy Illustrator/ Character Designer. Those are my artist labels. In that order.
You guys get that! And I mean this is just a vent because it made me a bit cranky that my own parents don't seem to really get what I'm doing with my life which is disappointing. My father in law is literally buying the preorders from me to support me and my parents don't really seem to CARE that I have preorders.
It's a bit of a shame when your own parents don't tell you they're proud of you. (Ok yeah sorry this is starting to get like super personal and whatnot feel free to ignore this entire journal if you want) I have been really long without a lot of validation and a lot of people have taken advantage of me for free art and I never received a word of gratitude from them until I met Ulric and his family like... HIS MOM IS SUCH A SWEETHEART I CAN'T EVEN. His mom tells me to look after myself and not push myself so hard cuz I'm worth it and his dad always tells me he's proud of me and that I'm such a hard worker.
I don't.... get that from my parents???
And then they tell me that Ulric isn't a suitable partner for me because he has a hard time finding a job!! Like.... FUCK!!! OFF!!!!! Ulric has literally stopped me from fucking myself up big time!!

Pre-orders, anyone?
Posted 9 years agoSo I've just finished shading the pages to Chapter 3 of It's an Odd Kind of Fairytale, which leaves me almost another 3 weeks to start working on Chapter 4 before my course starts again... But I doubt I'd be finished by that time!
But!! I've been thinking. Once it starts nearing September, I'd like to know if any of you guys would be interested in pre-ordering my comic books? That way, if you pre-order it, I can make more books but also get the books out to all of you before October, as that's when my first con is! If there's no interest in pre-orders for the books then they'll just become available on my store after October, but stocks will be preeetty limited!
So let me know, if I made pre-orders of books 1-3 available on my storenvy about halfway through August would you guys be interested in buying them? That way you can get the books earlier than if I didn't do pre-orders!
(This is also to see if there is any interest in my books online)

Doki Doki Festival Manchester!
Posted 9 years agoThat's right! I'm starting to go to conventions from September onwards!! I'm hoping to get to Stoke Con Trent as soon as that comes up, and I'm definitely going to be at the Doki Doki Festival held in Manchester on the 12th of November!!
So hey! If there are any of you in the UK who'd really like to visit me and say hello (and maaaaybe buy some merchandise from me) then that's a place you can find me!!
What will I be selling? Well, plenty of prints, both IAOKOFT related and not, badges, bookmarks, a couple of original pieces and at least 3-4 chapters of comic!! (I have the first chapter done right now, and as soon as I have some free time I'll begin work on chapter two. That should be done by June, and after that I have the entire summer to work on more chapters!!)
So hey! There will be plenty of stuff to buy and if you're really interested in the story I'm sure some of you might want to buy the books instead of sticking to the 2 page per week update rate :P

Posted 9 years agoCommissions have been on hold on CatsDesire, so I've had a lot of time to work on university stuff, and on my own personal project!
It's an Odd Kind of Fairytale has had it's 1st chapter sketched out! So I need to wait for some feedback then I'll be starting on chapter 2 and 3, and once those chapters have been completed I'll start uploading it at a rate or 2 pages per week. So it's busy busy and over the summer I'll be working on it almost full time so you guys will have something to read!
Life is nice when I don't need to see my parents :D

Posted 9 years agoThe WTF series will be suspended indefinitely, I just can figure out a good story and plot for it, and well... that makes writing it incredibly hard.
On the other hand, I'll be picking up It's An Odd Kind Of Fairy-Tale again, and making that into my main comic series. It's a long long story and I've currently written 4 chapters and hey, the story hasn't even really started, so hopefully the comic will be nice and long, but the plot has been outlined and it has an ACTUAL END!!
With this, I will however say that the comic will begin being posted once I've worked quite far into the comic itself (about 3 complete chapters), and the free to read online version will either be grayscale or just the lineart, with the full versions available in book form or when you support me on patreon, eventually! I want to make the comic illustration into a full time job so somehow I need to make money from it, but the story will still be available anyway!
I'll be getting a new computer in the coming days, so I should be able to start playing video games again! Whooo!! Also more streams and youtube videos!

Also, I'm on a really interesting course, Comic and Cartoon Arts!! It's really cool and I can't wait to start the actual course, I've met my classmates and they seem really cool people!

I just moved to London and have been having a blast working in my art foundation course. Our class is small but it's all super cool!!
I'm starting a short NSFW comic ;) and you may have noticed my Cats Desire ad floating about the site, and indeed, I'm still open for commissions, but I'm planning on changing the prices again. This time from USD to GBP (that's pounds).
The reason for this is because my parents are going through rough times and I have to be as self sufficient as possible. I have bills to pay and food to buy with my own money, so it would be an amazing help if you commissioned something from me!!
The new prices will probably start from either december or 2015!!
Star's Dusk is having a longer hiatus, I'm focusing on commissions and some personal arts, but long projects are on hold for now!!
