Two days ago there was an attack outside Commonwealth Stadium in my hometown of Edmonton, Alberta. A police officer was ran down and stabbed multiple times(but survived), then the suspect drove down 4 others in a U-haul truck in what's being called a terrorist attack. I never thought that it would come to my home but it has.
Then last night there was a mass shooting in Las Vegas, the worst in US history, 50 killed and over 200 injured during a country music concert and the death toll is expected to rise.

My deepest condolences and sympathies go out to the victims and their families of these senseless attacks both here in Edmonton and in Vegas.
I had thought that my home country was safe from these kinds of incidents, let alone my city but now that it's happened, I'm stunned, shocked and a bit nervous. I just hope that the suspect is met with swift justice and that the families of the murdered in Vegas are able to cope with the immense loss.

I'm not sure where all these new watchers are coming from but thank you nonetheless! I also hope that y'all give the artists support too since they're the ones who make all the magic happen. Thank you all again, it means a lot <3

On this day 30 years ago on what is locally known here in Edmonton as Black Friday, an F4 tornado touched down in the northeast of the city killing 27, injuring many more and causing hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.

It is believed at one point that it had reached F5 status but it is up for debate, but the path of the tornado included it tearing through refinery row and jumping over the North Saskatchewan River and in to the Evergreen trailer park community where the majority of fatalities occurred.

The response by the first responders was immense and successful in their efforts in saving many injured citizens affected by the storm and is believed that it is one of the reasons why our city was given the nickname, City of Champions(now removed).

Today the city and its people look back on that day in 1987 and remember the ones lost, and the ones who rescued those injured and later helped rebuild the city to its former glory.

100 years ago on this day, Canadian soldiers set out for the impossible task of taking Vimy Ridge from the German forces. For years the French and British had tried and failed to take back the ridge. We did it in 3 days. But in those 3 days of battle we took heavy casualties. Thousands of brave men would be unable to see the light of day ever again as hundreds more would be wounded on the field of battle. After those three days of intense fighting, we had established ourselves as a nation not to be underestimated. We had established our place in history as victors of the impossible. And to commemorate that glorious and bloody battle, a massive memorial was built in not only our nations honour, but in honour of all the brave men who perished fighting for our freedom in the war to end all wars. 100 years later we remember those who lost their lives to achieve greatness, and to show our pride and determination not only as a nation, but as a people.

100 years on, we will never forget the sacrifice of those who fought and died, so that we may live. Although they may not have known what state of the world we live in today, they still served their country and the world proudly. So to all I say, thank you. And may we never forget...

For quite some time now I've seen journals posted by many artists over my stint here in FA about people's art being stolen, and having them been taken credit of by said thieves.

To those people who deem it a joke or whatever you may desire to call it, you are cowards, crooks, thieves and any other words folks can come up with or think of. It sickens me each and every time I open up a journal and see that someone has had their work stolen, miscredited as their own, and same goes for OCs. To want to stoop to that level is disgraceful, saddening, disheartening and downright arrogant.

If someone wishes to either rp as someone's character/OC, the least you can do is the owner of that character if you may rp as them. If the answer is no, then that should be that. If one desires to show art to others, then have the decency to give the proper credit to the creator/creators of that work.

Artists don't choose or desire or need to work on these pieces just so someone else can claim them for their own. If you want to have art or have a character made for yourself, there are plenty of artists or others willing and will gladly help you with that! As long as it doesn't come up at a later time as being a forgery, or a copy of something else. If you want to have art, then practise practise, and practise some more and with time, effort and determination, you may just have people coming to you for works. And I know for a fact that most of you would wish and hope that your art would not be treated the same way that others have been in the past, present and the future.

So to any and all artists, watchers, whomever you may be, whoever reads this and/or sends this to others, you have my deepest sympathies, anger, outrage and so on for the injustices that have befallen you, and I hope that some day this nonsense will be put to an end and we can all as a collective respected community, can enjoy the hard, and dedicated pieces of art/music/animations/etc and just, be happy!

Birthday tomorrow, but I'll be celebrating it at work sadly so I thought I'd give a journal today so yeah!
