Open for Commissions
General | Posted 3 years agoJust a general FYI that I'm open for writing commissions. $20 per 1,000 words at 1,000 word increments.
My full and wordy TOS is here: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8983717
But the super short version:
-You keep your characters, but I get to post the story here if I wish
-Stories I write will contain only your characters, my characters, or ones I create for the story
-NSFW is cool, as is SFW
-As I'm not up for dealing with nonsense or stuff I find highly objectionable, I reserve the right to say no for whatever reason to a commission request
-A chill revision policy but with limits

I have a story in this anthology. A story about immortality by giving someone a big belly via a little unbirthing. Well, there's more to it than that... But I don't want to spoil it for you folks. There is a variety of tales in this collection with a variety of focuses and outcomes, so if my story isn't your vibe, there are still plenty of options to enjoy!

Review of Foxing for Pizza by NightEyes DaySpring
General | Posted 5 years agoReview time! Was a little late finishing this because, well... *waves paw at 2020 and then his tabs of election coverage* ...but, here it is! My review of Foxing for Pizza by NightEyes DaySpring. Enjoy!
Foxing for Pizza by NightEyes DaySpring is a fun story that makes good use of the limitations of the reader’s view of the world presented while presenting a fun erotic encounter between two roommates. The basic setup of roommates who end up screwing is pretty common when it comes to erotica, so to get and keep my interest in particular, I appreciate when a writer does something unusual with the story. And NightEyes most certainly did.
The opening feels like there’s some in media res going on, of a very blunt nature. But instead of the story staying in that tone, the sort that might work best and only work for erotic flash fiction due to the limitations of space, it turns out that the erotic scene presented was, spoilers, actually a dream. The weirdness and bluntness fades as we’re introduced properly to our main two characters and the plot progresses. But this isn’t the last time our perceptions of the situation are played with. But that later trick has not just the reader, but one of the characters falling for it. So in some ways the dream bit at the start is some foreshadowing that not is all as it appears at first.
Of course in between these subversions of expectations is the main course. Alex, the fox, trying to get in on some pizza when his roommate Leo, a jackal, orders some via offering himself to Leo. But before we get to that there’s some teasing between the two that I rather like that convinces Leo to go from poking fun at Alex to being a bit in the mood. But I also get the sense during this section that even though a lot of what is going on on the surface is a little standoffish that these two know each other much more than it might appear. Don’t want to spoil things, but there’s some good subtext to their relationship that suggests that in some ways Leo is perhaps jealous of Alex and his more expressive sexuality. Or at the very least how easily it boils up to the forefront of his mind. It is even Leo who explicitly points out that they’re housemates, not life mates. And yet Leo knows some of the particular ways to get Alex to squirm, and happens to know where the nearest bottle of lube is stashed. This suggests perhaps Leo is both into Alex but also has something holding him back from making their living and physical relationship into something a little more. I can’t specifically speculate more on this front, but I did find it very interesting to ponder after experiencing the tale.
Also, the story is quite humorous. Talk of filling with cheesy goodness being just the tip of things on that front. There’s also the teasing about the pizza topping options, talk of wanting sausage, and of course the earlier than expected arrival of the pizza. I chuckled a number of times, even as the more specific sensual actions were inciting different sorts of joy. As for those sensual actions, presented well and I do appreciate the explicit mention of lubrication and concerns about the carpet. A lot of erotica kind of leaves that out. Which on one hand can be part of the fantasy of everything just being pleasure and never having to deal with the mechanics of making love, but at the same time, makes a lot of other erotica I’ve run across a bit too unreal. And having that contrast of the blunt, kinda unreal bit of the dream at the start to a presentation of fucking that includes some very explicit prep, it helps drive home the grounding of the scene to help the reader perceive the situation presented as more real, more believable, and a more overwhelming sensory experience. And on that note, some quality sensory details were included, especially in the smell department.
I think my only complaints are minor. A few physical details of Alex and Leo are provided but didn’t otherwise get a good sense of their physicality beyond the hip region. Which is fine for a story of this length, but to complete a sensory detail picture a little extra there could have helped.
But overall… I’d recommend Foxing for Pizza. You can find it both here in text form: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37557061/

To MFF!
General | Posted 6 years agoYep, will be there. Shall be a wonderful time! Planning to share some wisdom and maybe get some shoved in my brain on the way.
While I'm there and you're looking to get some of my words for yourself, info is as usual here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8983717/
For the nearish future, when I get back I'll finish editing a few things and get them up. Including the winner of one of those twitter contests I did. Some of it will be light and wonderful. Some of it will be weird and lewd. And some if it will be grim and serious. I got like three modes people. At least when I'm just doing my own thing.

Enjoying FurReality
General | Posted 6 years agoSo... FurReality this year did an anthology. It was the first of such I submitted to and despite my inexperience in such things, got in! Now I'm pretty sure every attending member has the opportunity to read stories by myself and a bunch of other excellent folks at their leisure. Seeing the full author list is... well, lets just say I'm in good company! And it is a wonderful honor to have my work accepted.
If you're wandering in here after spotting my blurb in the back of the book under the author bio, welcome! Also, yes, I should update my stuff here with more short stories. I have a whole pile, but I'm suffering from that thing where I need to edit... but want to write, and I want to post... but need to edit first. Whoops. But! After the con I hope to get up a couple more stories, for different audiences, mind you.
And... if you're interested in story commissions, the info be here! http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8983717/
But yeah, I'm around the con generally. Though I might be hard to recognize... Unless you know me. Or I made it obvious by telling you about my pen name here.

>10k words -> Each major revision: 15% of base cost

Terms of Service
These are the terms of service that you accept upon contacting me (the author) with the intent of commissioning me to write a written piece of fiction.
I. My Rights and Responsibilities
1. I shall do all I can to engage with you in a good faith and professional manner while you (the commissioner) are engaging with me in the commissioning process.
2. I reserve the right to refuse any commission for any reason. Furthermore, I may also elect to refuse all commission requests from individuals or groups at my discretion for any reason. I am under no obligation to share that reason.
3. I shall retain copyright for my creative work, even if that creative work contains characters, ideas, settings, or related material that are not of my creation and that are not otherwise my intellectual property, and all characters, ideas, settings, or related materials that I create for such works. I shall retain all rights for editing and distribution of my work, including the right to use my work for advertisement, sales, as part of a professional portfolio, or other professional use related to writing or my personal professional development. I may at my discretion relinquish the copyright of my work at my sole discretion and in what manner I see fit barring applicable limitations of law. If a commissioner seeks to obtain copyright of the written work they may request a negotiated purchase of such copyright once the work is complete. I retain the right to refuse such purchases or negotiations. By commissioning me you understand that the relationship we are engaging in does not fit under the legal definition of Work For Hire and thus all relevant rules for such interactions do not apply.
4. I shall retain primary and final editorial control over all written content that I am commissioned for but will do my best to meet the expectations of the commissioner and the negotiated plan for the text. I shall do what I can to make sure the negotiated plan for the text is both acceptable to myself and the commissioner.
5. I shall negotiate and make clear to the commissioner once a request for a commission is made about any subject matters that the commissioner has requested, on a case by case basis, that I may not be comfortable writing about or at that particular moment that I have a potent disinterest in. Creation of an exhaustive list is naturally impossible but a good rule of thumb is that if my writing on a subject is likely to get me or yourself in legal jeopardy, I’m unlikely to be interested in writing a story about it. If I think a story can still be crafted without the requested subject matters then expect me to suggest alternative routes and the negotiations for the story plan can continue, otherwise I shall terminate the commissioning process immediately.
6. I will not use characters or settings without the permission of the owner of such characters and settings. If a you are seeking a gift for someone, this does mean that I will need to ask them directly for permission to include a character of theirs in the work.
7. I may require extra conditions or limitations be applied to the commissioned work. Any such conditions will be made clear and agreed to before final acceptance of a story plan.
8. In the event that the commissioning process ends prematurely for any reason, all my rights expressed in this section are retained.
9. I shall do all I can to answer questions about these Terms of Service, the commission process, or writing progress if asked.
10. I may re-order the work I take on so as to best maximize work flow. This may mean longer stories are completed later even if they were commissioned first in my present work load.
11. I shall maintain a price list for easy determination of the cost for my work.
II. Your Rights and Responsibilities
1. You shall engage with me in a good faith and professional manner while you (the commissioner) are engaging with me in the commissioning process.
2. You may repost any written work that you (the commissioner) have commissioned from me with appropriate attribution. Typically this means the use of my pen name (W.R. Frixmargen) unless otherwise specified by me.
3. You may not redistribute the commissioned work that I produced for you for the purposes of personal monetary gain nor may you misrepresent whom retains the rights to the work. Any money or financial gain obtained through the use of the commissioned work that I produce shall, while I retain the copyright of the work, be solely of my benefit.
4. You the commissioner have the right to back out of the commissioning process, terminating it, prior to the initial payment to myself.
III. Commission Process
1. You begin the commissioning process by contacting me through an appropriate channel of communication and express an interest in commissioning me for a written work of fiction.
2. We negotiate to determine a story plan that contains elements and characters that are agreeable to us both. During this negotiation you or I may suggest an appropriate length to such a story and any other necessary extra terms. I shall provide a price quote when appropriate.
3. The story length, price, story plan, and payment method will be agreed upon.
4. You, the commissioner, shall then provide full payment unless an installment plan is negotiated.
5. I will write the story, perform basic editing, and submit to you, the commissioner, the final draft for approval. If a major revision is requested, the process returns to negotiations for a story plan and any needed payment and progresses again as per the original process. If minor edits are requested, I shall do my best to make them before re-presenting the final draft.
6. If the draft is approved, any outstanding payments are immediately due.
7. I shall provide a file in a well formatted PDF file to you.
IV. Payments
1. Unless otherwise negotiated, all payments are due up front. Negotiations for alternatives are on a case by case basis and I reserve the right to reject any such requested alternative payment plans.
2. Payments methods will be decided upon during negotiations, but shall generally be done through PayPal invoice generated from my end. As I have no love for the parent company of PayPal I am very open to requests for alternative secure and reliable methods of payment.
3. Failure to provide payment in a timely manner or to attempt any underhanded activity to underpay me for my labor are sufficient for me to end the commissioning process. In the event of underhanded activity I am likely to report you, when appropriate, to any applicable authorities, or failing any such applicable authority, to make known your activity to others who may fall victim to such abuses.
4. The price scale is expressed in terms of rate per 1,000 words. Any story commissioned and completed shall be a minimum of the agreed upon length in multiples of 1,000 words, but not longer than the next 1,000 word threshold. Stories of under 1,000 words shall be the same price as a 1,000 word story.
5. Payments for major revisions negotiated after a final draft are due up front prior to the start of any further work.
V. Refunds and Cancellation
1. No refunds on completed work or works of over 5,000 words that are more than 50% complete.
2. You may cancel a commission in progress, and in doing so forfeit any processed and/or accepted payments. You shall not be provided any materials generated for the commissioned work after the moment of cancellation.
3. If I am unable to complete a commission through no fault of you the commissioner, I shall return all payment minus any transaction fee, subject to the limitations expressed in section V. 1 of this Terms of Service.
VI. Modifications
1. These terms of service may be modified at any time and may change without notice. Any commission or commission process started prior such changes shall continue as if operating under the terms of service as they existed at the accepting of the commission.
2. In the event that applicable law changes come into effect that affect these terms of service, such requirements of law shall apply actively to all commissioned work, in progress or completed, if appropriate or applicable.
