Taking Poetry Requests!
Posted 10 years agoHave you been patiently waiting to hear from me? Well I've finally returned! I have lots and lots of good stuff to look at and will try to respond to as much as I can over the weekend.
That being said, I also haven't been drawing lately. Art can be very challenging to fit into my schedule. So I might be interested in making some quick, free poems for anyone who wants one. All you will need to do is let me know you desire one with a brief description of what you'd like to see (theme/style/etc). I'll send it to you in the form of a note.
Random? Maybe. However it is a throwback to my "Freestyle Poetry Friday" thing way back. The only difference is that you have no pressure to come up with a poem of your own first, so no barrier to entry. Yay!

Hi All
Posted 10 years agoI apologize again for my huge absence over the last who knows how long it's been. I feel so out of it and I feel terrible for seeming like I'm ignoring everyone. I hope by making this post I'll be able to pull myself to send the messages I should have a long time ago at least sometime soon. Like I was saying, I know I've been extremely distant lately, but I know that's no excuse to be rude. I'm sorry. I truly want to talk with my friends again but something within me is keeping me from doing so. It's hard to explain.
I don't know. I guess the point of this journal is to hopefully cause me to snap out of it and let people know that I'm making an effort to return. Though if anyone has anything kind to say that might cheer me up, that would help too I suppose.

1. What is your name?
It is I, Wulpo!
2. Do you know why you were named that?
There is a long story behind that. A huge creative process took place with tons of brainstorming. My creator knew he wanted a 5-letter name beginning with "W" for "wolf." Then, through trial and error, he matched up letter combos until something felt right. Finally, "Wulpo" was born! ...Well, at least the name.
3. Single or taken?
Unfortunately, I'm single. I guess it could be fortunate for you though, depending how you look at it.
4. Have any abilities or powers?
I have the ability to solve a Rubik's Cube... but I don't think that's what this question is looking for.
5. Stop being a Mary Sue!
Um... Ok. I didn't know I was? *whispers* "What's a 'Mary Sue'?"
6. What's your eye color?
Green! My favorite color!
7. How about hair color?
Brown! My not so favorite color! But for hair it works.

No, I'm a bit of a lone-wolf I guess.

Arrogant people,.. especially when they are trying to sound like they are knowledgeable by going on and on about something but clearly don't have a clue. I usually just let them say whatever and keep reality to myself. Hey, if they don't want to listen, I'm not going to bother trying to correct them.
11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
Mostly video games, but I also enjoy tennis, bowling, and the occasional round of mini-golf (or regular golf). Sometimes I draw, and I always love listening to electronic music.

I don't feel like I have. If I did, I didn't mean to. I'm like one of the most politically-correct wolves ever.
13. Ever… killed anyone before?
Honestly, no, but who would ever admit to this one? I'm mean really... statistically speaking, of the already really small number of people who should be saying "yes," how many actually would? This is a waste of a question!
14. What kind of animal are you?
Just a plain old wolf in a hoodie. That is all.

I probably play way too much video games. Sometimes it gets in the way of other things, but never severely.

I do, and I think it's always good to have a role-model.

I am gay.

Nope! I already graduated from college with a math degree.
19. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?
It would be nice to get married someday, but it'll probably never happen. I doubt I'd feel up to raising a child, even with help.

I'm not aware of any. I'm not popufur enough.

Bees, pain, blood, death, offending others, letting people down, public speaking, and heights (if I'm on a not-so-secure platform).

General Tso's Chicken is the best thing ever, but only if it's fresh! If it's been sitting and soaking in the sauce at the buffet for who knows how long, it's kinda gross.

You need to try harder to annoy me. It seriously takes a lot to get on my bad side.

I'd say I'm middle class.

Just a few. I prefer to only have a few closer friends as an introvert. It's not that I don't like talking to people, but too much social interaction in a short period of time can stress me out and make me go off to be alone for a while.

If it's a chocolate pecan pie, you have a winner! I think pies are the best types of desserts.
30. Favorite drink?
First of all, what happened to #29? Oh well... I'd probably go with a Dunkin' Donuts Vanilla Bean/Coffee Coolata. The 50/50 mix makes it taste like the old French vanilla one. It's my go-to drink on a hot summer day! Even though I'm 23, I've never experimented with alcohol yet... though I did get invited to a friend's wedding with an 5-hour open bar, so we'll see what happens. *winks*

Well, there's no place like home. For vacationing, Walt Disney World in Florida is my favorite destination.

Uh... Well really neither. There's all kinds of gross stuff in there. Not to say there isn't gross stuff in a pool, but the sand squishing underneath my feet is just "ewww." I hardly ever swim as it is even though I'm very proficient at the doggie paddle. Just doesn't interest me. If I had to pick one, I'd say lake to avoid the saltwater.

Honestly, if I feel that I can call a guy my friend because he treats me nicely and I feel I trust him, then he's my "type." Sure, physical appearance means something to me, but it doesn't carry nearly the same weight as one's personality. After all, neither of us will have young, nice-looking bodies 50 years from now.

Regarding My Absence...
Posted 11 years agoI'm sorry that I completely vanished from existence some time around Christmas. This means that I've been gone for just over a month, but feels like it has been so much longer. It's a bit complicated why I left and stayed away, but it has nothing to do with any of you watching me. If any of you were concerned about my recent unresponsiveness, please don't worry. The main purpose of this journal post is to let you know that I am okay and I will slowly be making an effort to return because, hey, it's a new month. This week my plan is to start working on the backlog of messages I accumulated in January and then maybe work on some drawing again.
I would also like to thank and welcome my 3 new watchers! I will be personally giving you each a shout thanking you as well once I start catching up on everything I missed tomorrow.

50 Watchers!
Posted 11 years agoWell, I actually went from straight 49 to 51, but that's besides the point. This many watchers is quite a milestone for me! I really appreciate all of you who are reading this and regularly look at the pictures I post. I'd greatly enjoy if you comment on my work too (for those of you who don't already), even if it's just a single word. I enjoy seeing, reading, and replying to your comments, plus it lets me know that you are actively following my artwork. It's no problem if you don't leave a quick comment, but it would make me happy to see more comments though.

Poems Anyone? (Freestyle Poetry Friday)

Make A Request Monday!
Posted 12 years agoSo, I haven't made anything new in a long time. However, I'm out of ideas on stuff to draw. That's why I'm holding this little event!
Here's how it works:
All you need to do is comment here with an interesting* idea before tomorrow night (just to give people a chance to think about it). You may feel free to post as many ideas as you want. I will pick my favorite of the proposed suggestions at that time and make a sketch of it on Wednesday (assuming nothing crazy happens that I'm not expecting). It's that simple!
*In general, the more unique your idea is from other things I've already drawn, the more "interesting" it will be for me. I encourage you to challenge me, but make sure keep it simple enough that I can still do it. Also, more detail in your idea's description is better; let me know exactly what you want to see. Oh, and lastly, keep it clean and "G"-rated.

Expression Sheet
Posted 12 years agoAs you can see from my journal header, an expression sheet is my current project. I'm making some awesome progress on it and it turns out that it will also be coming with an overhaul of my style (no, it won't look completely different, but I've updated how I draw some of Wulpo's features). Those two tutorials I did recently really got me into thinking about my style, which then lead to me having an epiphany while drawing my expression sheet for Wulpo (but the main reason for the expression sheet was to get me out of "the same face syndrome"). I'm quite happy to do another of my "style upgrades" and I hope you all enjoy the new look too. The only downside is that now those tutorials will already become "outdated" due to me changing my style so soon after. However, I wouldn't have been able to make this improvement if I never made those tutorials in the first place, so I guess that makes it worthwhile in the grand scheme of things.
For those of you who are super excited now, I'll let you know that the expression sheet will consist of 6 sketches of varying emotions (don't worry though that there will be not-so-happy ones; this is just for my practice and I'll still be drawing Wulpo happy most of the time because he's a very happy wolf). I'm doing 2 of each viewing angle of the head (profile, head-on, and the "in between profile and head-on angle") and I plan to incorporate some form of a head tilt into 3 of the sketches (1 for each angle type). The rest will remain a surprise until I'm done!
