i've been looking for a place to share my VRChat photos, so i set up an account on a Pixelfed server. (Pixelfed is basically a Mastodon version of Instagram)

2023 pupdate!
Posted 2 years agohello folks! once again, it has been a while. i'm making some updates across my online profiles and figured i'd write a short (p)update on how things are going!
with the way things have been going on twitter, i've decided to officially move away from that hellsite since i'm convinced it could blow up at any time. i had already stopped using it for some time now as i have kind of wound down a lot of my social media activity in general, which has helped a LOT for my own mental health. for all the artists i was following on there, i've made sure to either follow them here on FA or jot down alternate sites where i can find their work. while i won't claim that FA is a perfect site, it at least allows me to easily see the work of artists i care about, unlike twitter and other social media where things are just lost in the void of the algorithm. so, i will continue to be active on here for now. i've set up a mastodon account which has surprisingly been a little better than i expected, though i don't expect to be super active on it.
while i've been less active on social media, i was inspired to return to VRChat after attending the VRChat meetup at this year's Furnal Equinox. i've found a couple groups that i really like and overall the vibe has been so much better this time around. for me it's a nice way to socialize, play games, and actually get to BE my sona! so i've been spending more time on there and honestly been enjoying it a lot!
the other big news is that this year, i decided to change my fursona! this was a big move considering i've been using essentially the same sona since i joined the fandom in 2011 (with some minor updates here and there). i have gone through a lot in the last 1-2 years in my personal life and there has been a lot of change. i've been working a lot on my mental health which is something i put off for far too long. it has been a long journey but i feel like things are finally starting to get a lot better! i have also been doing more exploration of my gender identity. i don't necessarily feel that being a "guy" fully covers it so i am now identifying as non-binary. recently i have been trying out they/them pronouns and it feels nice, so i will continue to do that for the time being as i try to work out more of my feelings on this subject. anyway, with all of these changes, i no longer felt that my old fursona still fit with where i wanted to go in the future. so.... surprise! i'm a fox now. i've posted my new ref sheet and i'm in the process of updating my FA profile and other profiles with my new name, profile pic, and pronouns.

bluecayman who has been my rock through all of this. i couldn't have done it without you 💖 and speaking of whom... Spade and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary this year! 😊 who said furry relationships never last??? 🤣

Furnal Equinox 2022!

thoughts on virtual Furnal Equinox (2021)
Posted 4 years agoso since i last posted a journal over a year ago, a lot has happened. it's funny looking back at my last journal, when i still thought that FE 2020 was going to happen.
we all know how that went, but fortunately this year the con moved online. it was my first time doing a virtual con and to be honest, i ended up enjoying it a lot more than i thought i would. watching the usual events like the fursuit dance competition, the Xephyr concert, and the masquerade on the livestream really made it feel like the actual con.
i was actually amazed at the accuracy of the VR chat worlds that recreated the con hotel - it brought back memories and made it feel familiar. i loved the concept of the virtual dealers den - it was way bigger than the dealers den could be in real life, and still gave you that opportunity to explore the booths and see what was on offer. the only thing missing there was the opportunity to chat with the vendors (i know some were online during the con, but i didn't get the chance to see any).
the other thing VR chat did was give me that feeling of being around people again - something i didn't even know that i missed after all the months of staying at home and having minimal in-person contact with others. between VRC and the discord, i saw plenty of familiar faces around, which again gave me that fur con feeling. and better yet i actually had the chance to meet and hang out with some new folks too.
of course since i didn't get any commissions last year, i had to order some - hopefully i'll have some stuff to post in my gallery soon :) (especially given that i updated my ref for the con last year and then never ended up using it!!)
overall, of course it wasn't the same thing as actually being there - but this virtual con really was the next best thing. it left me feeling surprisingly energized and happy, and it really gave me a break from the same old stay-at-home activities i've been doing week after week.
why am i even sharing this here? not sure, to be honest. not many people will see it here, but if anything, i'll have it as a memento for myself.

gallery revival, new ref, and FE 2020
Posted 5 years agohey all! i'm back again and this time i've revived my FA gallery.
i moved all my old stuff to scraps (may or may not remove them completely given that it's not really representative of myself and my sona anymore).
instead, i'm now using my gallery to showcase the commissions i've gotten over the past few years. as i get more, i'll add them to my gallery as well.
also, i now officially have a ref sheet for my sona!! (almost 9 years later than expected, but hey, i got there eventually!) this'll make it easier for me to get new commissions as well.
last but not least, bluecayman and i will be back at Furnal Equinox again this year (as usual). say hi if you see us around the con!

reflections (end of 2016)
Posted 8 years agotomorrow is the end of the year, and this year in particular has been a wild ride. i just thought i'd share some thoughts as things come to a close.
due to all my travelling around over the past several months, i've gotten the chance to meet and re-meet some people, in some cases in-person for the first time, which was quite exciting.
during my time abroad i decided to go to some furmeets. whether this was a good or bad decision is debatable. either way, what i know is that i made some friends during some of the loneliest days of my life. for that, i am grateful.
i had the chance to see some of you again at anime north. seems to be the one time of year i get to see a lot of my friends in the area. maybe ill see you there again next year?
since then, my furry presence has been on the down low, mainly due to work and uni. i recognize that these days i seem to rarely be online.
because of that, i'd like to extend an open invitation. to any friends who may see this, feel free to reach out and strike up a conversation. i cant promise that i'll be around all the time, but at least for the next few days, i'll be here. you can comment here, private message me, skype message me, etc. i'm looking forward to hearing from you!

so as you might have noticed, i've actually begun uploading things again!!! yes this is something that has not happened in over a year. i'm trying to get back into drawing mode, so far i've just posted stuff that i had in my sketchbook but i'll try to keep it coming!
also.... i bought a drawing tablet!! i haven't really posted any art from that (yet) because i'm still no good with lineart ;w; but when i come up with something i'm happy with i'll share it with y'all!
in general i need to get back into art things so yeah. SPAM ME also tell me what i should draw so i can get inspiration.
so what have you all been up to?? how's summer going for you??

We did a bunch of great things like throwing plants at each other, taking selfies, getting kicked off school property, running around dollarama, going to the mall and derping around everywhere in general

Going off to the US to see the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, etc. etc.
Will be back by next Saturday (Aug. 31)
I'll bring my ipod with me so I can answer on skype OR on that old texting app (if you guys still have my old number) whenever I get wifi (so in the hotels or if I'm at a mcdonalds or something)

Those of you out there, you know who you are, and yes there is more than one
Did you ever genuinely care for me? Even as a friend? Or did you simply want me to make yourself feel better, keeping me around for your own gain?
Were you just using me?
I care for people, I can't help it, that's just who I am. I don't want to make people angry or hurt them, so under pressure I give in...
You said it yourself, I'm too forgiving.
one last thing.. is it my own fault if I let it happen? out of genuine care for you? Is it my fault that now I feel disgusting and lesser because of what you did?
