Kit Grow-a-Thon
Posted 9 years agoHi hi all!
Kit is making a growth animation of him vs ME! The nerve of him trying to outgrow me! It is voter based, so the more votes I get, the more under paw he is. Do a poor cat a favor and cast your vote for his fun and adorable animation and give him praise. He deserves it for all the work he does for folks.

Merry Christmas to One and All
Posted 9 years agoHi hi all. I just wanna take this moment to wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Crazy Kwanza, and Fabulous Festivus... or whatever else you enjoy this holiday time. You are all great folks and I appreciate all of ya watching me and my silly doodles when I put some up. I appreciate you sticking around while I have dealt with some life issues this past year and all. I hope to be up to snuff and doing art once more all through the next year and on. So have fun everyone and enjoy the holidays!
Geek News!
Posted 9 years agoI felt an immediate strong need to put up something less dramatic and more fun after that last drivel journal. So here it is.
First, to everyone and anyone who hasn't heard of or seen Stranger Things on Netflix (and likely pirated to hell and gone across all the net by now) do take a look at it. As a cat of the 80s it is pure nostalgia from that time. Imagine a cross between E.T., Goonies, Stand By Me, and all things horror from Stephen King, and you have Stranger Things. It is a masterful tribute to 80s cinema in the best way possible and well worth any watch given it. I binged the hell out of that show... twice now. Likely gonna watch all episodes again too.
Second, for all those who love Warhammer 40K, this one is soooooo much for all of you. Mind you when you see it, a large chunk of it was made by one guy and for no money at all. No crowd funding, no donations, nothing. Not a dime.

Life is Stranger Than Fiction
Posted 9 years agoSo hi hi all! As those who know me well enough know, I'm not a fan of bringing drama about or even talking about it. But I had it happen to me so it kinda tossed me off whack for a good long while and made me lay low until I sorted it all. I tend to be a private person, yet also outgoing at times with others, nice paradox. To those curious folks, it went down like this.
In the beginning of January I was reunited with my biological father whom I hadn't seen in a long long while... oh say about 26 years. Yeah yeah, longer than some of you are alive. Don't ask my age. Rude to ask cats their age. So I started on the long road to repair things from the past and relearn about each other after so long. It was sort of both our faults we fell apart like that and decided it is better to try and rebuild things anew then just go our separate ways.
That seemed all good until he gave me the news he had a really bad genetic disorder with his heart that almost killed him a decade or so back. Yikes. So I may have it too. Cue up months of setting things up and hearing about how, if I have it, I'll definitely need open heart surgery with a decent percentage chance of kinda snuffing me out on the operating table. After months of visiting docs and the third best cardiac clinic in the USA (my dad worked in the medical field, go figure... oh, and if you take Claritin for allergies... you're welcome, he helped make it) it turns out I didn't inherit that genetic defect from him. So... big relief. No cashing out early. Woot!
Sometimes life really is stranger than fiction as I can't imagine someone thinking something like this nonsense up. So much for trying to live a drama free life. I'll be seeing you all soon as I pull myself back up into sorts again. Good to hear from those that say hi and I'll be in touch with the lot of you whom I need to be in touch with ASAP.

Shameless and proud geeks, feel free to chat and geek out over the trailer here with me. It's a golden age I tell ya, a golden age.

Ugh!
Posted 9 years agoI guess that's a good enough working title for a journal. Hey all, still here and as I said before, not going anywhere. Sorry to have not been around and inactive for a while. Off line life has taken hold and inserted some much unwanted drama into my existence for a few months. I'm okay otherwise, just been kinda in a bit of a funk and getting the urge to draw again is taking time. Sorry to have been away folks. I'll be back soon sharing arts and hopefully doing the streamy thing again, cause it is really fun. I wanna say I appreciate all of you so very much who have shown up and commented and hung out and everything with me again.
For those who have tried to get in touch with me and had a hard time of it cause I am a recluse-cat, sorry bout that. I will be in touch when I get set up again. Icelandic Boy, Kri, FoxChess, and all the rest of you good folks, don't worry, I'm still here and I still like you all. No worries and frets.
In fact... I got a doodle to share with you all now, something I was fiddling with. Sooo, I'll see you all soon. TTFN

Dance Magic Dance
Posted 10 years agoSadly, the Goblin King Jareth, the wonderful David Bowie, has passed on to take care of his goblins evermore in goblin land. David Bowie's death is a huge sad moment for me as his music and acting and talent was simply a delight for me all my life. He will be greatly missed by me and I'm sure by many many more of you out there. Amazingly, I just found out that his son is a talented director, behind the movie Moon and the upcoming World of Warcraft film. The imagination and talent runs in his family line for sure. So, to all of you out there, give a little listen to the great Bowie one more time in, what to me, was his most wonderful film presence ever...

Merry Christmas!
Posted 10 years agoTo one and all, each and every one of you who have been so nice to me since my return, I wanna say thank you so very very much. You all have made this a lot more wonderful of a thing than I ever thought possible and helped drag me out of a sort of funk I was in art wise. I have been a little lax lately, but should be getting back into the swing of things soon and finishing up some stuff I need to get done... then on to other things.
So, thank you all for what I consider the delightful present you have all given unto me. It was an early Christmas gift for sure. Thus, back to all of you...
Merry Christmas! Also, Happy Chanuka, a fantastic Festivus, a cordial Kwanza, and everything else!
Sincerely,
Wyldsyde, Cat at Large

The Flood from Hell
Posted 10 years agoOkay, so the comic site that used to host all the original BF Funnies comics has gone the way of the do-do bird sadly. Which means that the entire lot of them are all gone unless you snoop on over to the Macrophile forum and turn on the way back machine and hunt them down through the thousands of posted threads that are there. This has been nagging at me for quite a few weeks now and it has built up to a head, basically making me yell, "BLARRGGLEBAAAHHRRRGG!!" aloud and deciding to post them all up once more. Here. For all the old timers who enjoyed the comic in the past, and for all the new folks who show up too. So you new comers to me can be much less confused when you look at the recent comics. This is a lot of stuff coming to let you all know soooo... you have been warned.
Also, the comics are mostly in their original states, which means the majority are B&W, however work is being done to get all the original comics that were black and white to be colored in the upcoming future. I have a faithful sla... cough cough... fine colorist who is doing this for me. So even if they show up in B&W at first, as time goes on I'll be replacing the old one with colored ones. Simple flat colors just like the current comics.
Last note, the comics are going to be stored in the scraps section, not cause I consider them scraps, but cause I want to leave the main gallery section freed up for recent works I do. All the comics will have their links set up for Prev, First, Next on them too. I'll be adding some comments to the posted comics as well... behind the scenes stuff if anything comes to mind.
And with that, I am off to do the post flood from hell. See you all in an eon or so when I'm done...

Rampage!
Posted 10 years agoNow I know this is an old video game and many of you here might not know of it, but Rampage was a game that featured three giant monsters going around and trying to wreck a city and stomp on the military. You played as either a giant werewolf, ape (King Kong rip), or lizard (Godzilla rip). It was silly fun and when it came out, well, I wasn't into what i am now. However, it likely is why it really tickled me happy back then. Fast forward to today... and they are working on a movie for it! Hopefully it will feature them as proper macros... with The Rock laying the smack down on them. Heck, even if the monsters are the bad guys, it will be cool to see them none the less.

In Honor Of Doug Winger, R.I.P.
Posted 10 years agoI never knew him personally, but I knew his art well. He was one of the early ones online in the furry community and seemed to literally have contributed thousands of pics over his time. His art ranged from cute, to amusing, to the extremes of naughty and beyond. However, it was always well done. He had his own style and marched to the beat of his own drum and very much was someone whose work I both respected and learned a few things from over time. You will be missed by this big kitty Doug. Especially for your earthquake inducing squirrels of enormous size.
If there is a beyond, then yours will be filled with all your characters coming to greet you big guy, and what a get together that will be. Best wishes to his family and close friends in their time of grief.

Streaming
Posted 10 years agoHooo boy. Okay, gonna be trying this out for the first time later on today... likely in the eve or so. With any good fortune it won't explode and work correctly for me. So yeah, I really like the concept of streaming stuff with folks. Getting a chance to chat with folks in general and all while they can watch the artist do their thing. As my work with tablet isn't all that hot yet (fossil cats take time to get used to such things, razza frazzin' high tech... and get off my lawn!!) I won't be drawing free hand at the moment. It will be mostly me inking and coloring a pic or two, likely working on the BF Funnies comic or some such thing. Maybe even showing off a few pics folks have never seen before too. So, I'll post up a pic in FA here when I start my stream, link and all included. When done, pic taken down, yadda yadda, same as everyone else does.
When I do stream, here's to seeing you folks there. Hope to get a few hellos and all that.

What a Lovely Day!
Posted 10 years agoTo any who have not seen it, I can't stress enough how good Mad Max: Fury Road was. As an avid lover of superhero movies and a huge fan of Marvel's comic films, it takes a lot for me to admit it, but I liked Fury Road better than the Avengers 2 this year. This movie harkens back to the days when practical effects and masterful stunt work and real pyrotechnics were the only way to do an action scene. You can see the pay off too, how much of an impact said practical effects makes. For those who remember the original Mad Max trilogy of films this movie recaptures the magic of the best of them, The Road Warrior, and ramps it up several more notches to somewhere in the range of 15 out of 10. Even the villain, Immortan Joe, reminded me in the very best of ways possible to the Humungus from the road Warrior. Menacing, larger than life, and you never ever get to really see his face for the film. Nothing but a half skull mask and his messed up eyes and hair. I always respect an actor who isn't so vain as to have to demand to have his face shown in a movie.
Tom Hardy was great in the role of Max Rockatansky and Charlize Theron was equally impressive as Imperator Furiosa. In fact, the movie really doesn't have a single lead hero. Both of them share the spotlight equally and come across as the kind of heroes the horrid wasteland setting needs. So with that, all I can say without spoiling a thing of the film's story, action, and endless car chases and battles, is to see it. I'm sure you too will agree with Nux in the film.
"Oh what a day! What a lovely day!"
For those who wanna chit chat about the film or gush over it, feel free to do so below. Warning to others who haven't seen it, spoilers for the movie will likely show up. So... you have been warned.

Artist Plug 2
Posted 10 years agoOkay, as said before, some artists are criminally under watched as well as writers. Well, here we have a case of two fine fellows pooling their collected skills together and trying to make art their job and livelihood. Individually, the both of them are quite talented. Together, they produce some really fine quality works, worthy of attention and commission. Their subject matter runs across the gamut from simple character work, to full on scenes and even a few comics. They also have a strong sense of humor running through most of their work, a frivolity that the kitty can't help but appreciate to be honest. I love a good cartoony bit of art myself, so I am somewhat biased.
They are GrayBlueStudios
and are worth the attention of folks here wanting to see some good art at highly reasonable prices. Give them a look see and I'm sure you can understand why they should have more watches and folks offering them work. Okay, enough of my babbling. Go look at the artists and have a good time. See you all next journal!

Posted 10 years agoOkay, shameless plug two. Here is an artist who is criminally under watched. Not only writers get glossed over by the community, but some fine damn artists do as well. I consider any artist who is better than me with less watchers than me to be under watched by the way. That's my benchmark. So this here fellow is Avias
If you go take a look at his stuff you'll be really pleased to see what is there. He does wonderful character designs and backgrounds and the whole shebang. Drop him a line or comment or two. If you're really impressed, give him a commission.
Heck, I did... and he's giving me a whole new wardrobe! Bout time too... my clothes barely fit any more, heh heh.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16454645/
As I wanna help out some writers, so do I wanna help out other artists. This is the second of hopefully more plugs to follow for other artists and writers out there who really deserve more attention. Have fun all!

Avengers... Assemble!
Posted 10 years agoSorry, have to do it. Had to say it. Heh heh.
All I can do in the way of a review of that movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, which I just saw the other day, is to say it was wonderful escapism. Frantic supercharged action, heroic rescues, amusing humor, moments of dread, and all the rest showed up during the film and left me completely satisfied and happy with my time spent with it. Was it a perfect film? No, but very very few films really are, or truly need to be in order to enjoy them. However it was a superhero movie in its purest form and brings the comics to life in a glorious way. The geek in me... yes there is such in me, go fig!... loved every moment and twist, every little Easter egg and new character introduced. It also helped add some depth and shined a spotlight on a character from the first Avengers film who truly deserved some light... Hawkeye finally got a chance to be Hawkeye and it was wonderful.
Special mention, James Spader. He is an actor's actor to me and does simply wonderful work in my opinion in almost everything I've ever seen him in. I could listen to his lilting voice read a dictionary and would be most satisfied. His take on Ultron, though different from the comics in many ways, was still enjoyable and fun to watch.
I could nit pick, but that's not why I go to film. I go to be entertained, to lose myself in it for a few hours. Age of Ultron let me do that and I was well satisfied with it. For all those who have enjoyed what Marvel has done so far with their films, you'll likely love this one as well. For those who don't like Marvel's films, you'll probably hate it... but then, why are you going to see it? Go read a book or take up a hobby like knitting. :)
For any who wanna discuss the film and have a chit chat about it or wanna rant about it/have a discussion in some way, feel free to do so below.
NOTE!!! For those who are commenting below, I will state that this journal may well likely have SPOILERS in it about the film, as it is a discussion of the movie by folks who have probably seen the film. If you don't wanna see those spoilers... go play with your dog after reading the journal. Soooo... nuff said and thanks for reading.

In other words, it's open question time for anyone who has ever wanted to ask me a question but never got around to doing so, either cause I was dead for seven years for purposes of tax evasion... or cause you are one of those shy kinda folks afraid to question an artist you might like. Feel free to ask what you want and I will answer. Be prepared for snark. It may happen... from time to time I've been known to like it. Hope to hear from a few curious folks!

Comic Stuffs
Posted 10 years agoOkay, for those who knew me from the past and those who know about the stuff that I did this is old news. For the newer folks, I used to draw a comic called the BF Funnies. My little doodles and nonsensical bits of humor seemed to catch on and make a few folks smile, which was wonderful. Sadly it never was finished... but I am back now and have gotten an okay from some folks and whom I needed to get them from. Soooo... without further ado, the comic will be continuing and wrapping up that darn story arc! Past that point, not so sure yet. However, I had also started work on a companion comic to the BF Funnies set years in its future (gee, wonder why? derp) called BF Adventures. I had some great ideas for it and brain stormed stuff with a few of the folks who would be appearing in it. Too good of a story to ever dare shelf or put aside.
Which means my eventual goal is to restart the BF Funnies and run its future comic along side it as well. Kinda like watching the TV show Arrow. You get modern story and flashbacks every episode, even when you don't want them! Mind you, I do like Arrow, but the flashbacks in that show are groan worthy now since he left the island... okay back on topic... ahem. Right, the original comic will fill in the story for how things happened in the past and the modern comic will be the continuing adventures of the characters, both old and new ones.
The big thing that has been bugging me, and I've been speaking to others about this already, is where to put the comics up. I'd love to do it here cause this is an old site, I'm old, and have a love for my fellow fossils. But, it is unruly. No way to separate the comics apart from all the other scribbles I may put up. I'd love to keep them here but it is bugging me about the shuffle and would make it hard for folks to see it easily. So, I toss the idea out to the masses gathered. Think tank time. I'd be happy for feedback or suggestions on this conundrum. Thanks in advance.
Oh oh... wanna see the first new comic from BF Funnies? Number 291? Lemme know as well, cause it's all done already.
Which means my eventual goal is to restart the BF Funnies and run its future comic along side it as well. Kinda like watching the TV show Arrow. You get modern story and flashbacks every episode, even when you don't want them! Shameless Plug
Posted 10 years agoSo, not to put too fine a point on it, but I am back here with you all and in such a wonderful mood these days, due to the efforts of one guy who helped drag me out of my silly state and rejoin the party. That nice guy goes by the name of Hetzer and I owe him a lot. Turns out he's a damn fine writer too. Wrote a fantastic sci-fi story about a soldier dealing with PTSD after an alien invasion of earth and trying to deal with being integrated into the military of an alien society. It just so happens all the aliens in the story are anthro macros of varying sorts. His work was so good he even inspired me to write two short stories in his setting, and I hardly ever write. I mean... it's a nightmare to even do a journal. Heh.
So, do this guy a favor and take a look at what he has to offer in his story of Integration. I can't give the tale enough praise to be honest... and I fell in love with it BEFORE he shoved me back into the deep end of the pool once more. So if you like to read and want to read a great story about macros and humans learning to get along in a rich sci-fi setting, you don't have to look farther than
For all those who do read it and like it, let him know. Drop him a line. Authors really really appreciate that a lot. They don't get half as much attention as they deserve, with artists kind of being the 'rock stars' of many a fandom, this included.
Thanks all. See ya in the funnies.

Good Evening
Posted 10 years agoWell, what is plainly obvious by what I'm writing now is that yes... I'm alive and back. No long drama about me poofing will be given. Don't wanna bore anyone. Just wanna say I was wrong to poof like that and that it was totally on me for leaving. No one else forced me away, just me. I didn't wanna make folks sad, just wanted to bring smiles, buuuuut... best laid plans and all. Anyhoo... here I am. To those whom I knew well or well enough, it makes me happy to see some of you once more and if you are willing to say hi to me, I'd be delighted. If not, hey, totally in your right to do so.
So, with that said and out of the way... Hello all and good evening. I'll be about and around and even some new arts will be popping up over time. Hope you will all enjoy.

Hee... hee... hee...
P.S. - A comment from below. A fursuit?! Ha ha! I never had one of those, but it was hilarious to read that. Thanks for the giggles.
P.P.S. - I watched the hell out of Daredevil on Netflix. To all those who haven't seen it... give it a shot. It's awesome!
P.P.P.S. - Feel free to ask me questions or leave comments and what not. I'll do my best to answer.
