Anywho.. I haven't done any art trades in a LONG TIME and I miss them! Also I have a tooth infection right now and need stuff to keep me occupied :)
My specific urge for drawing right now is characters as cute anthro DINOSAURS. Because dinosaurs are awesome. I'm thinking in the vein of this picture - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11376282/
Your character might be a dino already or maybe you just think it would be cute as a dino! Either way.
Let me know:
- a character ref
- what dino you would like to be if you have a preference
- what sort of clothes you would like to wear if you have a preference!
- any other preferences for the picture/accessories/scene etc. :)
- whether you'd rather I did traditional (I am happy to mail it) or digital

Posted 14 years agoThought I'd get rid of the crossed out journal. Commissions are okaaay but I think in general I'd rather stick to trades. I'm kinda bad at drawing on demand XD
ANYWAY, excited because tomorrow I am going to Annecy in France for a week! There is a big lake and it is quite close to the mountains/swiss border too :3 For my holidaying place I really wanted to go somewhere with some nice natural beauty.. ^^ Oh and also my boyfriend is playing in a magic: the gathering tournament out there, which helps. ^^

Ooh, I haven't been here much in a while
Posted 15 years agoMy last journal was so old, I decided to make a new one. I'm still alive! But not very active. XD
I've been giving drawing a bit of a rest lately, needed a break I suppose. When it starts to feel like you're forcing it a bit, I think that means a good time for a break. ;) Lately I've been.. playing games (finally beat Difficult mode in Ouendan 2 the other day, yay XD), reading books, eating way too much food as usual x) and listening to music a lot (I am in love with The National lately ^^)
Anyway, hope everyone here is good, and I am going to cut down my watchlist a bit so I can keep up with the submissions these days, so no offence if I unwatch you.

A little thank-you
Posted 15 years agoI haven't been active at ALL lately. I still have 327 submissions in my inbox right now, even though I've been trying to catch up XD
Due to some personal circumstances, and maybe just a phase I'm going through, I haven't felt very Xander-y lately, I've felt sort of disconnected from my friends, my art, I don't know. It's hard to explain but things have been a bit weird. I've been a bit cataroose coloured blue, but not in the good way. XD
But anyway, I want to thank
twinklestah because after hearing I was feeling down she made a journal asking people to cheer me up, and that was just so incredibly sweet of her. :3 <3
I also wanna thank the people who left me comments and made me drawings after that.. it's really kind of you, I don't think people should be drawing for me to be honest with how inactive I'm being lately, but I really appreciate it <3 And it really has made me want to draw again, though I'm still not quite there yet.
I sort of want to redesign Xander a bit too, but it's probably just a whim. I don't want to change her too much, or even get rid of the old her, but, maybe just another version (when I mentioned this on twitter, I was thinking of Kingdom Hearts and Sora's different forms). Regardless of whether I do that, I think I should draw what I'm thinking of anyway, just cos it's inspiration at least :)
Doing some extra work from home today, so better get back to that now.

back from holiday randomness
Posted 15 years agoOvertime done with, I got extra monies and enjoyed spending some of it in Prague with some friends for the past few days :) Good company, lovely sights, lots of nice food. Oh boy, am I a tubby Xander now XD I will be making a picspam LJ entry about Prague sometime soon, for those of you who do read my LJ ^^
One of the best things I found in Prague was a tiny sweet wooden phone charm that looks like Xander!! XD I uploaded a picture to my scraps.. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3498258/
But anyway. ART. Blah with the list. I need to draw some stuff for me, because I haven't done so very much lately. And things for close friends. So that will be next. I feel pretty inspired, but RL is still fairly hectic XD
And I still need to mail a few things to people, I am slow XD But anything you desperately want, then bug me. :P

Posted 15 years agoLets see how writing this on my mobile phone works out xD so art I will be doing is below.. Let me know if I forgot something as usual :P As I always say, I'm so bad at sticking to what im supposed to be drawing xD
Also the reason for this, I may be quiet for a while/slow with things. My day job is getting crazy busy as of late and looks like I'll be working the next two weekends (after this one coming) as well as my usual 5 days in the week. Website design-ering though, so should be interesting :)
So yep, I'd say february may be quieter but at the end of it I'm hopefully going to visit friends in Prague :D I've not travelled much at ALL so that's exciting. Travelling more is something I definately want to do!
So anyway, with all this creative work I have on already I'm tempted to take a break from art and chill on Kingdom Hearts and OUENDANNN! for the next few weeks, along with diabloing it up with that suspicious blue fox.. ;) Sometimes I just stress myself out if I give myself too much pressure to create good stuff, and I have enough of that pressure at work right now. XD
But so you know I didn't forget ya ^^ I guess I end up taking on a bit too much sometimes and struggling to find time for it. But I really hate promising things and not doing them, so yeah. EVENTUALLY.

Posted 15 years agoYeah, I don't know if I'll get chance to draw a Christmas picture as such, I am heading to my family's tomorrow for Christmas, although I am taking my tablet so some art *may* appear. XD I think I'm getting some new colouring pencils for christmas too, yay :3

Posted 16 years agoYes, as usual, I'm in need of ADVICE. XD
I'm enjoying traditional art much more than digital lately, and my favourite thing to use at the moment is this brown recycled paper. I've never liked using WHITE paper to draw on, off white and textured paper is always preferable.
However I colour quite heavily/thickly with pencils. The paper I'm using is 110gsm, and it seems to mean that when I colour heavily like this, the paper gets crinkled up, like this http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2946739/ so I have to stick it onto some card or something.
So I'm just wondering, what kinda sketchbooks do people like to use? And does anyone know of a brown or off white paper that is thicker to avoid this kinda crinkling? Maybe I just need to get some markers for the bold kinda effect I go for? XD

I'm a little slow with things lately, sorry about that. I'm a bit down on my art right now. I enjoy doing it but by the time I've finished a piece, I really hate it, and get sick of looking at my gallery, haha. >_<
I always seem to try different things and go in various directions, so I was hoping for some advice (seriously, I'm not just fishing for compliments. xD).
What I wondered is..
- Which pieces of art in my gallery do you think are going in a good direction, or what would you like to see more of? Are there certain things or ways I draw that you like seeing most?
I suppose it's like that 'definitive piece' question people ask, but I'm just sorta trying to work out where I'm going right, and where I'm going wrong, because.. I do want to improve, but I'm worried I won't if I keep feeling so unsure about my art. :/
I don't know if that makes sense, but thank you for any help or advice in advance <3 I like to think I can take some criticism too, so feel free to say what you think!

My first con (RBW ^^)
Posted 16 years agoSo, I have returned from my first ever convention!
I had a great time. n_n I was a little nervous/shy at first, but thanks to twinklestah and others, I settled in quickly and really enjoyed myself!
My highlights:
- Fursuits!! I've only ever seen them in pictures before, but gosh, in real life, they are so awesome. Adorably cute and fuzzy :3 The fursuit walk where we paraded around London for a while was possibly my favourite part of the weekend, just cute, fun and happy, plus awesome to see the range of suits, and see the general public interacting with them.
- Meeting new friends and like-minded people, including delph_bunny, magnus_streifengrauer, bhavfox, sci, Ikkarub, and more, including a very fun american guy named Moosimus. XD It's hard to find people IRL who share my interests usually, so having a group of them in one place was kinda awesome. :3 Everyone was so friendly. ^^
- The art! The dealer's den was not as full as I imagined but I got awesome sketches from Sci and Bhavfox and a very cute sketchbadge from Sketchkat. Although I thought some dedicated drawing time would be a cool thing to have at the con, on the Friday night Cally, myself and others just sat around drawing for a while anyway, and last night Cally and I had a preeetty random drawing session in our hotel room. XDD
- The boat party! Very fun, amazing views on the boat, good dancing (not too crazy for this panda, of course), and talking with people.
- Umm, everything else. *tired out* XD I just want to go to more now! More! And maybe have a fursuit someday. ^^
Yeah. Maybe I'll attend some London furmeets soon anyway as I'd like to meet up with everyone again. :] And I feel much inspiration for more art now, which is also good!

Stupid question about badges at cons
Posted 16 years agoSo my first con is NEXT WEEK, omg, and I have, or will have some badges to wear! Buut. One thing I've been wondering for ages is how you are supposed to wear the badges. I guess you get a pouch or something with the badge you're given for going. But what about your own? Are you meant to make them into some kinda necklace or do you need to buy your own pouches for attaching them and whatnot??
Haha, I'm such a noob. This con should be interesting x)

Best place to draw?
Posted 16 years agoI've been having real trouble finding a comfy place to draw with my tablet lately. I use it with a laptop so it's kinda tricky. I *can* sit at the table, but for some reason I seem to find if the tablet is LOWER (rather than me reaching up to get to it), I draw more easily.
However that usually means sitting on the floor on on a sofa and leaning over to draw on the flat surface.. = bad back pretty quickly. XD I also find it weird if the screen is too far away from me to draw! However I dislike sitting up at the table because I sit at a desk all day and it feels less relaxing :P

So it may seem like a weird question, but what do you find easier? Sitting at the table, on a sofa, etc? Mainly for if you're using a tablet and maybe a laptop too. Maybe I just need the laptop you can draw straight onto :D I know there can't be too many possible answers to this question but worth a try, right? ^_~
[making a new trade list soon, lost it again. xD]

But yeah, I've not had the net for ages, cos of moving house. (whoo).
So I have like 750 submissions to catch up on so may end up just faving some but will try and leave a few comments still :D
My move went well and I'm settled into my cosy new place. I haven't been drawing much AT ALL. I might upload a few scraps. XD
Yeah, I've just been doing other stuff though, playing games and reading books about hoaxes and vampires and being slow (yeah the book was about being slow XD).
I have been playing Hamtaro: Rainbow Rescue on the GBA, which I have to rave about everywhere because it's just SO CUTE, so fun and so addictive. xD I also made a little Xandy me in the Sims 2 on GBA, though the game is kinda odd. But I like her because I made her look like a panda :D

On a short break

Just wanted to let people know in case they were waiting for anything, that it's probably gonna be a little while till I do anymore art. I know there's a few trades I wanted to get going on and maybe a couple I owe? (need to check XD).
But yeah finishing off my house-move in the next couple of weeks but even then I know there will still be things to sort out and unpacking and whatnot going on, so with my spare moments currently I'm trying to get away from the comp a bit even if it's just chilling in front of the tv or playing a board game (yay scrabble, I need more people to play scrabble with..!)
I also bought a new DS game today, Rhapsody, hehe, I heard it's meant to be super easy but it sounds cute and I don't want anything requiring too much brain power at the moment. XD
I also feel I need a break from art because, I dunno, I'm a bit bored of my stuff lately and not 'feelng it' completely. Perhaps if I find some new things to inspire me I can produce stuff I'm more proud of? :)
So yeah, I'm guessing I won't be picking up my tablet for at least a couple of weeks if not longer, but I definately WILL be back once I get settled :D

Posted 16 years agoHi! Well I'm gonna start with some boring things not really part of this meme. My current busy-life reason/excuse for not commenting as much as I'd like to, is, I am moving house in 2 weeks! But I am only moving next door, so it's not too bad XD Just lots of cleaaaning, to get our deposit back on this place -_- I'm still around and drawing but I'm feeling a bit stressed. XD
Oh yeah, and the second Professor Layton game is coming out next month. It's been too long since I finished the first one :D Who's looking forward to it? :3
Also, I watched Ice Age 3 and Bruno lately and I love them both!! Fans of either??

8 things about me..
1.) I looove gory movies and horror movies, even bad ones. Things like 'Saw' and 'Final Destination' are my favourites and even when the movies get more and more rubbish each time (like with Saw) I still have to watch them because of people dying in horrible ways :D
2.) The first furry character I ever created was back in 2000 when I frequented the TLK fanart archive, and was a brown furred version of Nala from The Lion King, simply called 'Nala-the-lioness' - original huh? :D
3.) As I said above I'm looking forward to Professor Layton, I'm quite a puzzle fan and I love trying to train my brain to get better at thinking in all sorts of ways, I also like crosswords and hanjie/nonograms/pictocross <3 Oh and I love word games too, especially Scrabble :D
4.) I like reading a lot, mostly non-fiction because I think real life can be more fascinating than anything invented, especially books to do with science or psychology/human behaviour. However when it comes to fiction I like sci-fi or horror, but I'm still on a quest to find lots more fiction I like.
5.) I love food! Normally the highlight of my day is lunchtime :D Haha. I love chinese, thai, pizza, sushi, but especially indian takeaways :3 I like to try lots of new food too. Sometimes I eat too much, but then I go through phases of not doing so, so it evens out and I never get *too* tubby. xD I don't like seeing people not enjoy food and just eat a few leaves for the sake of eating, at lunchtime. People should enjoy life and enjoy food and not always worry about their waistline too much. Food is LOVELY! ;)
6.) I don't drink alcohol, I never did much when I was younger anyway (I'm 24 now), but after the one time I drank wine on holiday with friends not realising how strong it was I think, I felt so ill that day I didn't see the point of drinking again. I just don't like it, so if I ever go to a pub I just drink Coke or something! I don't think alcohol is an essential thing to life at all.
7.) Then again, saying the above, I do prefer to stay in a lot more than I like to go out (unless it's for meals or cinema, or something else random), but yeah I'm not a massive going out person, I like peace and quiet and if I do meet friends I prefer small groups or one to one :) I don't really like to meet just to go drinking and I'm not a fan of clubs. xD (unless it was a board game club) :3
8.) I love drinking TEA! I am drinking it right now. Mostly I like normal english tea with milk, but I also like chai tea, jasmine tea and some other kinds (prefer black in general). But I believe tea makes everything better and is a very important part of life, second only to eating maybe ^^

I just don't like it, so if I ever go to a pub I just drink Coke or something! I don't think alcohol is an essential thing to life at all.
7.) Then again, saying the above, I do prefer to stay in a lot more than I like to go out (unless it's for meals or cinema, or something else random), but yeah I'm not a massive going out person, I like peace and quiet and if I do meet friends I prefer small groups or one to one :) I don't really like to meet just to go drinking and I'm not a fan of clubs. xD (unless it was a board game club) :3
8.) I love drinking TEA! I am drinking it right now. Mostly I like normal english tea with milk, but I also like chai tea, jasmine tea and some other kinds (prefer black in general). But I believe tea makes everything better and is a very important part of life, second only to eating maybe ^^

Secondly - for all the great birthday art from everyone. I never expected so much birthday art! Thanks for taking the time to do that <3 And I have a feeling twinklestah had a lot to do with some of it, so thank you too. XD You all made it a good birthday!
I feel sorta bad that I can't repay people quicker for art they've given me. I'm drawing a bit, but things are still taking a while to.. flow. >_<
Anyway. I finished reading 'let the right one in' today, and it was awesome. I recommend it :)
