Help a friend of a friend recover data
Posted 9 months agoI don't exactly have much of a place to ask anything of anyone, but nonetheless I have been asked to spread this and after getting the full story I feel this is worth spreading.
Put simply, a friend of mine came to me with a request asking if I would post this GoFundMe for a friend of his. I've seen the name of the person who needs the money float around a bit in the past and I asked for more detail, which I was given, but most of which is fairly private and I have not been permitted to share publicly. But as I trust the person who has made the request, I feel that it is worth spreading, especially as the request is rather...reasonable. It's well under the full cost of what he would need to recover all the data he's at risk of losing, but he's focusing the goal only on the very important personal data he is at risk of losing, rather than trying to get it ALL taken care of.
Rambling done, here's the GFM link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/fund-for.....m=customer&utm_source=copy_link
Please contribute what you can, but don't bankrupt yourself.

Also looking for anime-style artists(related to previous)...
Posted 5 years agoMoments after posting my previous journal it was mentioned to me that a CG sequence of the animation we're looking into would be a good fallback plan if the animation plan falls through. The previous request for info is still ongoing, however.
Most of the same factors are in play except that we're now looking for someone who's good with anime-style artistry, and we'd like someone who can jump in and get it done in a reasonable amount of time as well - we don't want to still be waiting on this come February. We're probably gonna know within the next day if we can even do the animation option, and if the answer is no, we shift immediately to this.
Please send any and all recommendations you have.

Looking for animator(s) to commission...
Posted 5 years agoSo I'm not going to go into specific details of what's being looked at to commission, but I'll outline enough of what I need in the hopes of getting some decent recommendations.
First and foremost, this commission will NOT be a furry video, but a short video featuring an anime-esque human, so any animators that don't do such things are an automatic no-go.
Secondly, this is intended to be a small crowdfunding effort so the animator might need to be willing to wait for payment to be gathered. Our budget is not 100% set, we'd need a quote and then take some time to look at whether or not we can do it.
We're looking to do a 60-second at longest animation of half-decent quality - nothing you'd expect to see in a real show or game, but not old Flash-tier garbage - MMD animators would be very welcome for this project, but as models will have to be created that would likely rapidly go beyond our budget.
Most importantly, understand that this project could completely collapse at any moment - not everyone looking to contribute is guaranteed to be able to, and every planned contributor has a limit to what they can spend.
Please provide any suggestions you have.

Announcement...
Posted 8 years agoSo, I was trying to think of the best way to break this unfortunate news that we've known about since May, but I really, REALLY suck at expressing this kind of shit. Fortunately, My soon-to-be-ex-fiancee
jennetwolfskunk sums it up perfectly in her own journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8370749/
Rest assured that everything said in the journal is true, and we'll be staying in touch through it all. It's unfortunate that this is how it's ended, but it could have been far worse. At least we get to split understanding how much we really do care about each other.

GDU update of sorts...
Posted 10 years agoSo I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that I simply will never be able to get myself to write GDU chapters at a reasonable rate. So, as such... I'm writing up a sort-of "universe bible" for GDU. My plan for GDU was always to open it up to contributions from others, with stories that adhere to the canon of it being featured in a dedicated group. That group may still happen if enough people write stories, but my end of it is likely not going to be the backbone I had intended.
So, when I'm done with this I'll upload it, and from that moment on the world will be "officially"(well, as close to it as a fanwork can be without "Approval of God") open for other works.
Now, I've got it MOSTLY done, but before I post it I'd like to know if there's anything specific you want answered in it that I may not have thought of. The document currently contains a timeline of canonical events going through two years and six months after the event takes place, providing information on the CAUSE of the event as well as it's effects, and even some information on how certain GD characters have been affected by the events.
Please post any questions you want answered here. Even simple ones - if it's too simple to bother including, I'll respond in a comment. Otherwise I'll add it to the document. Please post your questions here or in response to the document posting - DO NOT use private messages, as I'd like the resulting information to be publicly viewable.
That is all for now. So get on those questions!

Difference between normal and GDU Rion...
Posted 11 years agoWhy post this? Simple: Because I've been asked.
Put simply, this is normal Rion: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1155323/
And this is GDU Rion: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13932884/
Both are female werewolves of the Gold Digger type. Both were born male humans. That is where the similarities end.
Normal Rion is a joke character resulting from my answer to a question
jennetwolfskunk once posed to me: "Is there a circumstance under which you would willingly undergo a complete change of gender?" The answer to which, after thinking it through seriously, was: "Yes - as long as it gave me the ability to protect myself and others, and I could still be my normal male self when I don't need it."
As a result, despite her being a joke character there's only sofar I'm willing to go with normal Rion - I have to operate as if she was really me under those circumstances.
GDU Rion is a guy with no connection to me who was permanently transformed into a female werewolf, locked in hybrid form(and boosted into a very muscular woman with the help of a strength potion from Jade). She has, after some prodding and a reality check from some others, completely embraced her shift - maintaining only her sexual preference for women from her past life. She's a woman and not afraid to show it.
That's basically what it boils down to. Put simply, one has many restrictions, one has very few. And they're easily differentiated by their muscle mass.

No charges for Tony Stewart.
Posted 11 years agoIt was announced today that a grand jury has opted not to indict Tony Stewart on any criminal charges in the death of Kevin Ward, JR. This does not surprise me - no matter the circumstances, when the deceased charged the person's car, criminal charges are very rare without any concrete proof that the driver deliberately turned into him.
What IS surprising is something found with the release of Ward's autopsy report - the toxicology tests done as part of the autopsy found an impairing amount of marijuana present in his system.
The entire situation suddenly makes a lot more sense with that knowledge.

We don't know much yet for certain, Twitter witnesses are all over the place. We know that Stewart hit Kevin Ward, Jr with his right-rear tire, that remaining events were cancelled for the night and that police are investigating.
Keep your eyes on the news - this is gonna be REALLY BAD no matter how things turn out.

Colorists wanted!
Posted 11 years agoHey all. With the posting of today's image, Jen and I have come to decisions that we'd like to have some of the many uncolored pictures in our galleries colored.
There's just one tiny little problem.... We can't afford to pay anyone. Because of this we don't wish to ask any more of the people who've colored for us in the past - since it was unpaid work we don't feel right asking for more than the one.
This will apply to the current situation, as well. Since we cannot pay, we will only ask anyone interested to do ONE image. If you're willing to do more, feel free to let us know. We MIGHT consider it if not enough people are willing. If you've colored for us before and you're okay with the situation, feel free to contact us.
Below are a list of pictures we will be asking to have colored. If any pic on the list is something you would not be willing to color, let us know when you contact us. Please list the images you'd most like to do, as well - we want you to be able to enjoy this, not make it a chore for you.

Sorry for GDU delays...
Posted 12 years agoI must seem like a real tease now with the huge delay between posting the prologue and the first main chapter of Gold Digger Ultimate. Unfortunately, real life has been sapping my creative time.
One of the big problems with GDU is that I have to "dream" some of the scenes I get stuck on to figure how to get over a sticking point. The Prologue got hammered out in a single afternoon after I dreamed the whole thing the night/morning before.
Unfortunately when I get overly stressed by other factors, those dreams don't come, and I've had quite a bit on my mind recently.
For those who don't know, a little over a month ago I was involved in a catastrophic racing crash. My racecar was completely destroyed and, despite overengineering the rollcage, one of the posts near me snapped and clipped my helmet.
Now, the good news is, I was completely unhurt. No concussions, just a few bruises on my arms. We had acquired a new car and I was racing again the week after. The problem is the new car was a nearly 20 year old design that wasn't exactly optimized for competition against today's machines.
The last month was spent learning the car's characteristics and working out what needed to be changed over the offseason. This sucked up all of my creative energy, I'm sorry to say.
The season ended a week early when my engine blew, as well.
But now the good news: I am done racing for the year and I took a one-week vacation from work, so hopefully the creative juices can get flowing soon. Nobody has complained about the gap, which shows a remarkable amount of patience amongst those who are interested. Hopefully, your patience will be rewarded soon.

Most unpleasant to drive racing machine ever?
Posted 12 years agoSo I was on a vintage racecar kick and looking up a bunch of old iamges over the past few days. Earleir today, I was going through 1970s Sueprmodified photos, and found this image of a mid-engined radical offset design:

Enoguh of this "gamepads are inferior" bullshit.
Posted 12 years agoIf keyboards/mouse was truly superior to a gamepad, it would be impossible for my friend to pwn your stupid asses with gamepads, so shut the fuck up already.
The fact of the matter is that the only ACTUAL difference a keyboard/mouse gives you is a wide range of customization options. Everything -literally EVERYTHING- else is a matter of personal preference, or developers being idiots/lazy. A mouse may be capable of more precise actions than a gamepad, but BOTH are more accurate than HUMANS ARE CAPABLE OF BEING. As far as the human capabiltiy for accuracy is concerned, there is not difference between the two.
I use a gamepad for gaming on PC as well as consoles. Why? Because the mouse is too jerky for me, and using two separate inputs does not come naturally to me. Give me a gamepad, I'm a decent player. Give me a keyboard+mouse, and I'm completely hopeless.
The reason for this rant is because in seeking help for solving a problem I had, I received no help whatsoever. I only saw a desperate insistence that it is impossible to map the important functions of an MMORPG to a gamepad that didn't go away even after his argument was completely eviscerated.
I can map any MMORPG to a gamepad using a program called XPadder. The only exception are ones where the devs lock out such programs. Challenge me on that if you want - any aspect of the gameplay I can address.
In the end, locking out gamepads is a stupid idea even if you believe they're inferior simply because you're locking out accessibility to many gamers, which means you're LOSING MONEY. Why would you want to lose money in this day and age when making a gamepad input option does NOT require you to cripple the keyboard/mouse input? (I've heard devs use that excuse for leaving out gamepad support before, and it's nothing more than an excuse for being lazy - there is no reason you have to compromise one to benefit the other in a modern game)
Now I'm sure some of you will point out that console gamers tend to get their asses kicked by PC gamers in any sort of cross-platform experiment, and that my gamepad-preferring friends are anomalies. Whether or not my friends are anomalies is beside the point; The fact of the matter is the superiority/inferiority of the hardware has nothing to do with what's going on.
The modern world gears us towards the keyboard/mouse even outside of gaming. It's something most of us use every day whether we game or not. As a result, it comes naturally to many people. The gamepad with it's analog sticks is not something we get the external influence towards and it requires a dedicated effort to get used to it. Console gamers are wired to associate the gamepad with gaming and the keyboard with work. Others, like me, who have no real preference between console and PC, simply can't process the usage of two separate inputs.
Additionally, PC gamers are generally more "Serious" than console gamers. They put more effort into becoming experts at the game. Grab an identically-sized group of random PC and console gamers, you'll find a much higher average gameplay time amongst the PC crowd than the console crowd.
And that's the key detail: The bag of flesh at the control has a far, FAR bigger impact on the effectiveness of the controller used than the controller itself can possibly have.
And with all the above said, I still have to admit that there is indeed one exception to the above: The Real-Time Strategy game. The only genre of game where so many inputs are required that you can't map them all to a controller. (Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keys only expand the gamepad's buttons so far)

Or spread the word if you can't give money.

Obvious scam is obvious.
Posted 12 years agoWhen you get a phone call claiming someone needs to find your brother, and said brother left you as a contact reference, it's suspicious.
When they say it's because he passed bad check, it's even more suspicious.
When they say it happened in a state your bother has never visited, it's EXTREMELY suspicious.
When the Caller ID lists the call as "Private Caller" you know god damn well it's a scam.
And when you brother has lived in the same house for five years so there's no god damn way a legitimate company would not already have the information needed to contact him, you know beyond any possible shadow of a doubt it's a scam.
The possibility of identity theft is not an issue, either. For those who may not know: Legitimate attempts to contact you over matters like this ARE NOT MADE OVER THE PHONE. If there was any legitimacy to this matter, we would have received documents in the mail about the matter.
Telling someone off never felt so good.
