32 revolutions around the Daystar
Posted 8 years agoSo today marks my 32rd birthday. 32 years around the Daystar that tries to turn me into a lobster whenever I go outside. Lol.
32 years old, and I can say I like who I am growing into. Don't get me wrong. There are days where I "Dun wanna adult or anything". But more often than naught, i'm able to pick up myself up and exit the door to take on the world.
Thank you friends and furry fandom for being here. I know that I have been changed for the better, because of you all.
Thank you,
Xorin

Posted 9 years agoSo, I'm now attempting to be active on the twitter verse. *clops hooves on keyboard haphazardly* now, how does one twitter? Lol. If you are on and aren't opposed to the ramblings of coffee infused horse, lemme know and I'll follow ya on there. Thank ya all, and keep on being awesome!
Schooling push

Last day of the semester and I am trying to finish up a project. I am both happy and frustrated about being in school. Grrrrrr.
Any positive thoughts or deep fried potatoes would be much appreciated.

Life Update: It's a great time to be alive
Posted 10 years agoHello everyone. It has been a while since my last text foray on here and alot has happened during that time. I am excited for life and the future and wanted to share it with all y'alls furs!! :)
First off, I got a great job when I got back from Europe. It is a new position with the company, so me and my coworkers are sorting out the odds and ends of it still, but it is great. Mentally and emotionally exhausting, but great. It is nice not to have to worry about income or how the bills will get paid.
Secondly, my intrepid Rebel Marauder Car, Ford Mustang "Ricky", got sent out to pasture. Traded him in for a fuel efficient Corolla "Eore". I feel very accomplished in picking a car that is fuel efficient and can weather the amount of driving I do for work and school.
Thirdly, jumped back into school again for a post grad certification with the possibility of continuing on for my Ph.D. I'm happy to be back in the school vibe and setting, and setting up more of my future in my current career.
Lastly but most certainly not least, *blushes* I have myself a boyfriend. He is the sweetest and most sincere man I have met. He has been my friend for many years and we had flirted for a bit, and after my last relationship he approached me and told me that he would like to try "us". Well, after a cooling off period, he and I started going steady. It has been 3 months now since we said the word "boyfriend" and it has been amazing. I am so blessed to have him in my life. Also, he is a furry!!! So now this old horse has a wolf to run with. :) Expect more pictures of the two of us in the future. *blush* I am truly blessed by his love.
:D
So anyways, that's been me. I feel very blessed to be alive and thankful for all my friends and family.
Thank you for listening to this rambling horse. Keep on being awesome my friends.
With hope,
Xorin

Returned victorious (victory = stories and experiences)!!!
Posted 10 years agoMy hooves are freshly powdered with Californian soil, and I am happy to be home again. I return thankful and victorious (with stories and pictures in tow) from my European excursion.
I got to visit the Netherlands, the UK, France, Italy, and Switzerland! So many pictures were taken and friends were made on this trip. I am so thankful for this experience and opportunity to travel and expand my understanding of culture and myself. I feel stronger and more well rounded as a person after this trip, and it feels like this trip was the capstone of these past few months of growth and self discovery.
Special shout out to
Ephias_Belvidea for having coffee and hanging out in Basel with this horse and acting as my translator for menus. It was a blast to get to hang out and take in the town with you!!!

Europe Bound Stallion!!!
Posted 10 years agoIt is only 2 weeks away and I wanted to share my excitement.
I get to travel in Europe as a apart of a working vacation for a month. I'll be hitting London, Paris, some parts of Italy, and ending in Switzerland. I am so excited! This is a great way to end this past year.
So with that being said. Could I get recommendations about what to do and see when in those locals?
I have never been to London or Switzerland (Basel to be precise). I plan on hitting up all the art in Paris. Do you guys and gals have suggestions about what a tourist horse should see while over there?

I'm not okay, and that's okay
Posted 10 years agoMy apologies to take your time and ear to vent, but I need to do so.
About 4 months ago, I broke up with my girlfriend of almost 2 years. She was my first true and deep love and partner in crime. We were the Jessie and James of our group and we were gonna go on strong for a lifetime...and then things started falling apart. In January, I ended it.
Fast forward to now. I thought I was doing okay. I thought I was moving on...and then I saw a post on social media she put up. At that moment, all the feelings and hurts I hadn't felt in a while came crashing back. I realized that I wasn't okay. That I still am mourning. She is beautiful and I only wish for her happiness...and a part of me still loves her. Will always love her. And that is okay.
I am not okay, and that is okay. It took a while to build our relationship, and it will take a while to unbuild those feelings and unpack those hurts.
So what I am asking, is if you have a moment, please shoot me a hug or say hi. I will get through this, but I need some support from my friends and community. Thank you everyone for your time. You are all great people and furs. I wish you all nothing but the best.
I am struggling to keep my blue light shining, but I will keep hope alive for me and all of you. "Look to the stars, where hope burns bright"

29 years old!!!
Posted 11 years agoIn 50ish min, I will officially have made it 29 revolutions around the sun. I am quite excited for starting a new year, and all the opportunities it will bring! 29 doesn't feel much different than 28, but it means I am closer to 30. 30 sounds quite dignified. *nods to self* Anyways, huzzah!!!
Life update: Turning 29, School, and Life's Ironies
Posted 11 years agoHello all.
So a lot has been going on in life. First off, I am turning 29 in a few days (this Friday) and I am excited to have made it through another year of life. I want to say thank you to everyone here for being such awesome people for all of these years that I have been on here. I love being a furry.
That leads me to my next comment. Does anyone know if there is a therapist group on here? I am studying to become a mental health therapist (an MFT to be precise) and I wanted to connect with other members of the community who are involved in the mental health field.
Lastly, it is quite ironic. This weekend, my program is having me take a workshop on "Issues with Aging". It just so happens that the workshop coincides with my birthday. So, I will be taking a workshop dealing with issues that arise from aging as I celebrate my aging process. Quite ironic. :)
Anyways, thank you for being awesome!

Poison oak is not fun
Posted 11 years agoAs the title says, getting poison oak on you is no fun. *grumble* I'm having a hell of a time dealing with it. I stayed home from class today because of how much the rash had spread, and I don't want to use one of my limited doctor's visits. So I am trying homeopathic remedies. Fun...
Gaming convention!!!
Posted 11 years agoWhoo. Happy Memorial day people! Im off to a local gaming con for the weekend. Kubla-con!!!
Can't sleep. Que working on papers.
Posted 11 years agoTitle says it all. Can't sleep. Stupid caffeine and body getting more sensitive to it. *grumble* at least this works well cuz I can work on class papers. Still *grumble and eyes my pillow* sleep would be my preferred choice.
Papers and Drum Corps
Posted 11 years agoWriting a paper and listening to Drum Corps in the background. Its a good day.
So OOOOLD
Posted 12 years agoSo, old. I am old today. Turning 28 today, and I feel as old as dirt. Hahahaha. Not as old as dirt. Maybe as old as 80's metal hair bands. Maybe. Hahaha.
Attention Text Adventure Fans/Players!! New Game is up!!!
Posted 13 years agoAttention fans/players/and enthusiasts of text adventures. My buddy has created and launched his own text adventure. It has been in development for the past few years, and he now has it up and running. Here is the link:
http://www.lorenipsun.com/
Go check it out and give it a try. I have been beta testing it for a while, and it is a great game. It does have adult content (OMG Penis, Boobs, and other adult parts), so just warning you people under 18 that it is not a place for you (now that the disclaimer is out of the way). For those of you who are over 18, please check it out and lemme know what you think. Let my buddy know what you think on his forums.
Enjoy.

Ironclaw 2nd edition confusion
Posted 14 years agoWarning: Incoming Rant about game system
So, I have been trying to get into running Jadeclaw for a while for a few of my friends. However, I just could not get past the clunky game mechanic system. Add dice here, increase die size there...so when I got wind of Ironclaw being re-released but in 2nd edition, I was all "ooh, It is Jadeclaw, but maybe updated." So I picked it up. I was loving how much more streamlined they made the game. I loved how they took the 300+ pages of Jadeclaw and cut it to just over 100 pages (this is the core book I am talking about for both. Not the expanded books). Then I noticed yesterday at my local gaming store that there was a GM (game host) book. So far impressed with the Ironclaw 2nd edition I gave it a look...and had my hopes dashed. I found the rest of the rules they had cut from the core book in the GM book. The publishers did not even try to hide the fact that they cut what should have been one book into two. The core players book ends at page 120ish, and the GM picks up at page 120ish and continues on. Gahhh. Sadness and dissapointment ensued. So what only should have costed $45/$55 (for one big core book) is now costing the consumer $70+ (spread between two books) just to get all the core rules of the system. I am not impressed with the publisher, and now less inclined to buy anything more they produce. I would say save some money and if you must own the Furry RPG Gamesystem, get it from them on PDF.
TLDR: Ironclaw 2nd ed. could have been a good game, but publisher made very poor marketing and design decisions. Recommend buying the pdf or splitting the books with a friend.
Rant over. Thank you for bearing with.

GRE vs. the MAT for Graduate level programs
Posted 14 years agoSo I am at a loss on these two tests, and thought I would put the question out to the community. Which test did you choose to take and why? I am trying to find out more about these two tests, and the school I am applying for says I may need to take one. So that is the reason for the question. :)
