As of 11th of October, I have been living in a new, slightly bigger and way better apartment. I'm taking job gigs every now and then and I'm planning on taking more once the year changes.
I'm doing good mentally and physically.
Speaking of conventions for 2023, it's probably Gdakon and EF again.
I finally found myself a small spot in the EF team of volunteers and I have good memories volunteering on Gdakon back in 2020 and earlier this year of 2022. Fun times, fun times. Well, there were some hiccups, but to find out more about those, get me a bottle of local beer, coca cola, local soda or a glass of wine and I'll tell you a few stories ^^
Here's hoping that 2023 will be better than this year.

Back from Arkham Asylum

Black clouds of 2020
Posted 5 years ago2020 has certainly not been a good year, but at long last we had some light of better tomorrow ahead of us when they elected to kick the Orange douche out of the Oval office....
I have been feeling....bad....well, not bad.....terrible. Inside my head mostly. I'm afraid. I'm depressed. I'v been trying to keep to myself. I'v been trying to bunker down and barricade in my own apartment. Stockpiling food and experimentaing with food. But still, black clouds just don't let up. And yes, I am not ashamed that I had some very dark actions and thoughts last month....
I'm afraid. I'm afraid of COVID19. I'm afraid it mutates itself and has a shotgun wedding with Pneumonia and adds Encephalitis, Dysentery, Pneumonia and other nasties to it's symptoms list. I'm frightened by the uncertainty of how many furries around Europe, Northern America and Asia. And most of all, I'm afraid that this virus does not stagnate and recede to vaccinations by end of 2022, but instead survives, infects and mass-kills by millions...
I'm also scared by the loss of Conventions, like Eurofurence and smaller cons. Big cons, small cons....I really miss having those and while having the digital experience is a good alternative, I crave the real deal. I miss fursuiting in actual cons and I miss sampling some of the edibles of Eurofurence.
But what really scares me the most is the carefree nonchalant attitude some induviduals have towards Corona-virus. People who refuse to wear breathing masks, disregard distancing and dismiss civil servant advice and safety. It's such induviduals that invoke images of virus gestalting, mutating and plotting new symptoms once they have enough DNA and RNA samples around the world..... If it were up to me, world fashion would be all about retrofitted gasmasks turned into plague doctor beaks, oil-coated robes, HAZ-MAT protective suits, Radiation-protection suits and such...
On a more happier note, I'm just about finished with my cook's diploma. Just two more papers and voila, this Red Panda is officially qualified for professional kitchen work.

Summer 2020
Posted 5 years agoPhew.
Summer is upon us.
Corona seems to have loosened it's grip on Finland and we are slowly opening some services. Starting June 1st, restaurants and some bars can now seat half of their max occupancy. My apartment's sauna facilities open their doors on 5th of June.
I must admit, I am quite frightened of possible second wave.
Eurofurence is a no-go for this year. I suppose it's sort of relief in this situation, though I am still sad about it. I am however, very glad that I managed to bury my grandmother and attend Gdakon before the situation came crashing down on us.
Among other things Corona robbed us, was weekly RPG gaming session of DnD. I'v been filling that hole with Roll20, gaming and hosting.
Mostly Tails of Equestria. I honestly did not expect much when I discovered it, but gee whiz, it's surprisingly good.
I'm sending a silent prayer to all of my furry companions around the world. Stay safe.
PS: I also tried my paws at making Elder Scrolls series-inspired food, such as Elsweyr Fondue and Honningbrew Mead. If you are bored and would like to try something new, note me.

2020, Gdakon and other stuff
Posted 5 years agoPhewh. It's been a while since I have been writing a journal entry. Both here and on my personal travelling journal.
Quite a lot has happened in such a short amount of time. My last remaining grandparent, my dear grandmother, passed away peacefully on 5th of January, surrounded by her children. I'm going to miss granny. Loss of a person who had best of old world and new world. She knew I was a furry and she even knew we had a darker side. She just smiled and said: "Boy, that's natural. Although this is the first time I'v seen two girls with such fluffy tails and ears." Plus she really liked listening to such heavy metal bands like Metallica, Nightwish, Within Temptation and Evanescence. She approved of my furry identity. She did not fully underatand everything about it, but she was glad to see me travel around Europe like her late husband had done.
Second, Gdakon 2020 was quite a blast ^^ First time working as a con staff member. And security no less.
Third: Starting on 23rd of March, I'll be starting on learning the basics of bartending as a part of my culinary studies. While waiting for that, I'll be making good use of Official Elder Scrolls cookbook and brewing me a batch of Honningbrew mead ^^

Slow uploading, thouhts and progress
Posted 6 years agoDear readers.
I may have been a bit slow on uploading some of my EF photos and some smaller con photos. Reason for this is that I have been working towards my cooking degree in a local lunch restaurant. A small and cozy pizzeria/lunch restaurant run by Kurdish people. Very lovely people, most whom are parents themselves. And boy, oh, boy have I learned a thing or two about how to make a proper working man's lunch, especially for those working in car mechanics, taxi driving, construction work and warehouse management.
Plus it has also been a big boost on learning about their culture, customs and habits. Plus their delicacies which have taken a good root on me. Such delicacies as different sorts of breads, lentil soup, ten different forms of salads and different forms of pizza.
I will be returning to schooldesk when December comes. I will also have more time on my paws to upload more photos.
While I have also learned of the good stuff, I have also learned of the many foul things Kurds have to face and dear lord.... if you can see , survive, remember and still keep a good outlook on life, I raise my hat to those who pull through.

EF 25 Aftermath
Posted 6 years agoEurofurence 25 is now over and I'v got good amount of photos to upload and share. They will appear in my gallery shortly.
I'v got bit of an con-crud after the convention, but thankfully my workload is lightened significantly at the moment.
I'v made up my mind after seeing few things at con and I have decided to apply for staff next year. It's something I encourage each and everyone of you to try at least once in your lifetime. As the old finnish musician expression says; "Musicians always have more fun than the audience-" plus it would be a good new feather on your imaginary hat.

Films: Tolkien and Detective Pikachu
Posted 6 years ago4th of June, 2019, I went to movies twice on the same day. Reason for that was that I had some gift tickets that were about to expire. So I chose two films to see: Tolkien and Pokemon Detective Pikachu.
And uh, here's my two cents on those films, spoiler-free.
On Tolkien;
If there's a director who is especially good at making humane stories, it's Dome Karukoski. I'v seen a couple of his films, like Tom of Finland and the director has a good sense of what is most humane part of that story. And the scenes of World War I on the battle of Somme, it's just pure gold with images that remind you of Peter Jackson's films of Lord of the Rings and classical tales he heard and read.
Overall, a story with a heart of gold. 4 stars.
On Detective Pikachu
I did not know what exactly to expect from this film, but I was pleasantly surprised. Of course it had it's hollywood cliches, which thankfully were downgraded to a more credible level. Plus a lot of stuff was clearly aimed at the audiences that saw the very first Pokemon film, back in childhood of very late 90's and early 2000's.
A good, surprisingly good story with some interesting twists.
3 and half stars.

Gdakon aftermath
Posted 6 years agoWheh, Gdakon 2019 is now over and I am back at home. Photos will be uploaded starting this week.
It was a fun convention with only minor mishaps one only one smallish incident on my part.
Sadly the fursuitwalk over to Gdakon was changed into parade inside the hotel due to bad weather, plus I misplaced my patchwork warm mittens, but those are just minor inconveniences.
The staff and attendees were very kind, hotel staff was kind and polite to us and even local children seemed to like us.
Plus, Poland is a very cheap country to eat. ^^ And tasty ^^

After EF, Autumn etc
Posted 7 years agoPhewh. With September opening it's doorway to apple harvest it's time to sum up my experience of Eurofurence 24; Conquer the Skies
A 4 star convention experience, with better planning than previously, the things I enjoyed most were Grandma' Kage's story hour for charity, Onkel Kage's storyhour, Avian meetup and Cheese & Wine social event. No big drama for me, only one person needing my help in form of a bath and some cuddles plus some warm food it was very happy time for me. The only bad thing that I noticed was that many familiar faces that I know of were not with us on this EF.
Family-wise, my Grandmother is now in far better condition; The heatwave is now behind us and we have secured weekly help for her in a form of daily meal deliveries tailored to her needs and weekly washing aid. Her overall condition has improved to the level we are used to and she still loves to cook for my brother.
Also, now that autumn is upon us, I can expect free supply of apples since my mother loves gardening, especially herbs, spices, vegetables and fruits.
Sadly, my ponies were not finished on time due to, uh, unexpected bad things. But I'v decided to dedicate more time for these matters in near future.
That is all.
Cheers

Heat, August, EF, and stuff
Posted 7 years agoPhewh....this long hot summer is draining not only my strength but also my sanity. Temperatures over 30 degrees celsius all week long with no end in sight. And it's damaging more than just bodily fluid balance.
-My grandmother has been suffering from state of hyponatreum, renal defecency, vomiting, weakness and loss of what little appetite she previously had.
She has been to hospital and back and straight back to a different hospital ward. Rince and repeat for the whole july and early August. Thankfully now things are settling down. This unfortunate series of events cost our family quite a lot in terms of sanity, sleepless nights and quite an increase in volume of alcohol consumed with the exception of yours truly who was the designated driver and thus, had the easiest task.
- Because of the heat and ailing grandmother, I failed to create and deliver my submissions for EF. Oh well, at least I can at least make three plushies, two personalised banners and few other small goodies for the convention. And if I am lucky, trade those for arts and crafts by other artists.
Third, after Eurofurence, I will be starting a little personal project. For some time now I have been contemplating personal heraldry. I'v decided to adopt two colours: Green and White. Expect to see some banners, fursuiting with armor in heraldric colours. And maybe some commissioned artwork...
That's all for now.
Cheers

Help me find an artist?
Posted 7 years agoDear readers.
After discussing some ideas that I have been brewing in my head with a certain person, I'v decided to see if I could see it come true.
However, I could use some help finding a suitable artist for somewhat big project that may involve 1-4 persons and following themes:
-2 males and possibly 1-2 females
- Ponyplay
- Armors (Chainmail, Brigandine, Leather, Platemail, Crusader full-helm)
- Femboy
- Chastity belts and Chastity Bras
- Chariot
- Flags and banners
- Light humor
If you know someone who might be willing to draw these and likes to rise up to the challenge, let me know

NFC After-action report
Posted 7 years agoNFC is now behind us.
I had a blast.
This conventions, on my part, started out a bit bad, but it improved by bounds and leaps with only minor bad stuff. This convention was mostly special program for me, with a fistful of chips to match. Ghostwalk, Eat South America, Ice-Cream buffet, Dying Dog Dinner....sadly I missed the Rum tasting, but it does not ruin my mood when I think about it.
I met lots of good old faces and some new ones.
I reward this convnton 4 stars out of 5.
The only real downer was with Dying Dog dinner....A delicacy for my taste buds and a hearty amount for my belly. But I was somewhat troubled that not everyone in the table I sat in were able to enjoy shrimp coctail or the beef Entrecote due to allergies...
But I did enjoy the convention ^^

Should I...

I) Should I continue making plushies? Like these

II) Should continue making furry-related shields? Like this

III) Anything you would like to see more? Something new?

Heat Exhaustion, Heat Stroke, Armor Profiency and stuff...
Posted 8 years agoHowdy furries.
First off, I had my first experience about heat stroke while fursuiting. During my last fursuit outing at local book faire, I experienced heat stroke with all clasdic symptoms: Feeling dizziness, slightly blurred vision, feeling of thirst, irritated mood and vomiting (thrice)
Thankfully nine gour bed rest and double liquids of mineral watet, fruit juice, tiny amount of alcohol and some sofas restored my vitality.
Now, there were couple of factors to that: Apparent rush of one of my companions, heavy armoring, lack of handlers and poor planning.
Therefore, I thought I would share some tips and rescue plans for any furries who are planning on taking on armoring themselves.
Before fursuiting:
1) Ask for a handler if possible
2) Make plans. No need for detailed walkthroughs, but having a general idea of what, where, when and how can save you a lot of confusion
3) Supplies. Camera is good, but water is life. Double so for fursuiters. Triple for armored fursuiters.
While suiting
1) Speed kills. What's your hurry? Slow and purposeful is better. More time for good photos
2) Unit coherency. Stay together. Look after your group. Leave no-one behind.
3) Hydrate. Always hydrate when thirst strikes.
4) Secure a resting place just in case. And plan for emergency exit.
If heat gets the better of you:
1) Get to a public bathroom stall and remove head.
2) If you vomit, call out for immediate evacuation. If you are alone, do not panic. Seek shelter, bathroom stall offers good privacy.
3) Hydrate and rest. When your strength recovers, head home asap.
4) Learn from past mistakes. Learn your limits.
Now, all you furries who would love to don any kind of armor on yourselves, remember that it all starts with light armor. You can't really wear heavy platemail unless you first understand the principles of light armor. As one brick lays the foundation to another, so does light armor advance into medium and so on.

Hidden talents, scissors, cloth and threads
Posted 8 years agoFolks, how many of you have siblings? I have two: One full brother and one half-sister. But I'v never considered my sister as only half-related. We have always had around 14 hour train ride distance between ourselves, but we have maintained good relations.
Oddly enough, our parents get along just perfectly. My father and mother love the company of my father's ex girlfriend and my sister's mother and her husband. You can literally pair them up in any combination, Mom's get along mighty fine and dandy, father's enjoy each other's company and if left alone, their table is filled with laughter, empty food plates ad empty Gin-Tonic glasses. While mothers enjoy white wine.
Now, everyone knows that I'm a furry but what they didn't know was that I had recently took up making plushies. And I did not know that my stepmother is a skilled tailor. So lo and behold when I told her I wanted to make plushies, she was delighted. And then she sowed me quite a lot of techniques about it....
So, folks....It's a funny world.
Oh and one last thing: If you know anyone who might have a copy of MLP pony plushie patterns available for share, I would appreciate the chance to try my hand at those. I'm not brony, but I would reckon those winged pegasi and unicorns would be provide useful training. ^^
That is all
