Goin' through the ringer of life. (Life update...)
Posted 6 months agoLife sure has it's ups and downs, huh?
January...
I began studying for clep exams, a way to gain college credits without being enrolled in college. Made amends with a close friends of mine that I'd lost the year prior in May. Started abusing edibles again.
(Still have some, damn that buy one get one special at the shop! I'm thinking about giving my jar of sativa strain ones to a friend, keeping the indica for myself since there's not much left, and once I run out trying again to quit using. Edible highs are too intense for me, since it's hard to know when too much is too much since it doesn't kick in instantly. I prefer smoking, but can't while I live with my folks. Regardless, any time I've tried to have some of the sativa ones lately, I don't have a relaxing time like I want and instead am left with an overwhelming unpleasant feeling, so I haven't touched them too much. Hence why I might give them to someone I know.)
February...
Still chugging along with the studying. Got sick towards the tail end of the month and decided I'd take a break until I got better. I relapsed with my social media usage. I'm still struggling to quit again. It's an addiction from hell for me. Using app/web blockers hardly works for me, since it takes two clicks to ignore. If anyone has advice I'd love to hear it. Knowing how bad it is for me and still struggling to quit... Makes me quite depressed. It also sucks that as an artist I can't really truly get rid of it. Plus it still plays a major role in having a social life, as much as I wish it didn't...
March...
Getting back to studying went from "when I get better" to "after my birthday" to "after my new tattoo heals" to "I really should get back on it... *then doesn't*."
I know, I know. No fault but my own. Accountability and self discipline isn't one of my strong suites. Neither is time management.
April...
Not much happened, but I did go to my grandparents for Easter since my family decided they were taking a vacation and didn't invite me despite the fact I live with them... Which hurts, and sucks, and I could go on and on and on about for ages but won't because ranting won't change what happened. Easter was nice, but in hindsight now bittersweet.
May...
Well, I finally got back to studying last week. I'm trying to buckle down once more with my social media abuse, and stop getting high off my ass every single day.
I'm taking a break from studying for this week only. I didn't on Sunday, or today, and I won't tomorrow. I will on 5.11. For this week, I just need to relax, as it's been a very stressful month already.
My grandpa had to get surgery (he's ok), and unfortunately my grandma's dog's life came to a very tragic end. On Friday morning last week, when let out to use the bathroom before my grandma went to work, Buddy (who was too friendly for his own good) found himself crossing paths with death.
Being the friendly and aloof soul that he was, Buddy either wasn't paying much attention, or waltz right up to an alligator that lay in my grandparent's yard and met his unfortunate end. His suffering was not long, and though his life was short, it was full of fun, love, and many many treats. My grandma spoiled him rotten and he deserved every single second of it.
I'm personally not very religious, more so indifferent to what happens after death as it's out of my hands, but I do know that if Heaven is real, Buddy is surely up there rolling in the grass, playing in the water, and hunting for plenty of garden lizards as he loved to do. As we all know... All Dogs Go To Heaven.
Here's to hoping the rest of my month/year is better, and I can get my shit together more.
No new art for now, but hopefully soon. I need to get better at my time management, but that won't happen if I can't break this addiction I have to social media. With my addiction, work, and trying to study, I don't have much time for it, but I think it's clear which one needs to go... haha.
Cheers. Hope everyone has been well!

New telegram channel!
Posted 7 months agoI decided to make a telegram channel to upload my art to! It's view only for now, and will likely stay that way. Just a hub for my artwork for those who want to keep up with my work but don't want to follow me on all platforms. I will likely announce commission openings here first. Here's the invite link!

Commission Status
Posted 9 months agoI'm thinking I might close commissions for the time being. I don't really get them too often anyway, I've got a lot on my plate right now (studying, work, etc) so once I complete the commission I've got in the works right now for my friend, I think I'm gonna close up shop. Instead of trying to get commissions, worrying about drawing other people's characters, dealing with all the ins and outs of it, I think when I focus on art for the time being I want to focus on improving my weak points, learning new skills, and making stuff that I can sell in an online shop.
If you were hoping to commission me, this isn't permanent, and I'll consider exceptions here and there if I really like the idea you've got, but with everything else I've got going on, I think it's just best I don't take on any more to avoid a mile long queue.

Life update...
Posted 10 months agoHello guys! I'd like to apologize again for the lack of uploads. This month has been pretty busy for me... Lots of birthdays, then of course the holidays, and I've been working on art for gifts that I had to keep quiet on! I'll be uploading those later tonight or tomorrow. And to be quite honest, the past week I've barely touched my computer. Most of my down time was spent watching TV and playing on my phone... Not very productive at all, but we all have those times.
Aside from the gift-art, I've also been working on some backgrounds (well, only one so far, but I plan to take on more) for another animated short film, and I got a big commission that I'll be needing to chip away at over the next few weeks outside of work.
Speaking of work, sometimes my shifts get slow so I've been trying to read more instead of wasting that time between tasks and customers on my phone. So far I've read Lou Sullivan: Daring to be a Man Among Men by Brice Smith, The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett, and The Never-ending Story by Michael Ende. All fantastic books. If you're trans and interested in learning more about FTM history, I highly recommend that first book. It was so insightful and honestly made me cry at multiple points. I know I'm quite biased, but many of the experiences that Lou wrote in his journals hit very close to home.
I'd also like to warn people that outside of my few and far between commissions and any volunteer or paid gig work (like the student short films I've helped out on), starting in January I will very likely have less time for art. This will hopefully only be temporary, as I learn to manage the new schedule I've worked out for myself. (P.S. I will still be open for new commissions, and when I get a commission I will get it done in a timely manner. My personal art, which is most of what I do and what I post, is what will be taking a seat on the back burner.)
For far too long I've allowed my addiction to my phone to rule me, and I've realized lately that I cannot let it continue. Life is to short to waste it staring at a screen for as many hours a day as I have the past ten years. It's also just not healthy for me. I think it's honestly one of the roots to a lot of my problems and a lot of what makes me unhappy in life. I've know for a long time that there won't be some knight in shining armor to come rescue me from these things, and that I must take action myself. I've taken steps to make my phone a lot more boring, including removing apps that aren't necessary, turning on the grayscale color filter, blocking websites, etc. I've been eying a specific model of dumb-phone that seems to suite all my needs but I need to wait until the money is right, and also make sure the product isn't actually a scam. I'm hoping taking these steps will allow me to succeed in cutting my screen time down even more. What was what once an average of 16 hours a day screen time is now down to roughly 4 to 6 (give or take), and I'm hoping I can get it even lower.
Also in relation to my expected drop in time I can use towards art is the fact that as mentioned I'm going to try very hard to stick to a daily routine, a new diet, and I'm going back to school. For the time being, I'll be using some free resources I found online to gain free college credits, and from there I'll transfer the credits to a community college near me to take the remaining classes I'll need for an associates degree. I might get one, but honestly I'm eye-balling getting two since the two I'm looking at share a lot of the classes so I'd only need to stack on a couple more to get two. Then I'll see about getting a bachelors degree, and hopefully get a better job. (Seriously, my current one sucks... The customers keep assaulting me and one of my coworkers is a bigot... Bleugh...)
As for now, I've more or less temporarily given up on my dream to work in the arts and art entertainment. The animation industry is in shambles, and I got scammed by the pipe-dream selling diploma-mill I'm ashamed to call my alma mater. With the lack of job opportunities in this field, especially for juniors and entry-level people trying to get their toes wet, the disruption that AI has caused, the mountain of debt I have crushing me, and the threat of homelessness that is looming overhead in the near future, I unfortunately have to start thinking of my future with finances more at the forefront. I'm beginning to realize that I'm simply not as skilled as I thought I was. One day I will get there, but for now I need to be more realistic.
That said, art is still my biggest passion in life. I cannot live without creating, so I'm not quitting art. I've just got to get my priorities straightened out for the next few years to make sure I'll be okay.
Another thing I've been busy with is trying to de-clutter. I've got a bit of a hoarding problem, which is not good for me for a number of reasons, but I've realized recently that the reason I struggle with keeping my room organized is because of how many things I have. I simply don't have enough room for it all, quite frankly a decent chunk of it is useless junk. Sometimes it can be something as simple as a wad of bubble wrap that I don't want to throw out in case I need it in the future, but today I've realized while I might be saving a few dollars down the line, it's costing me more now and in the long run (in terms of stress) than it is to just throw it out now and buy bubble wrap when I need it. That goes for a lot of the stuff I've got. So far I've gotten rid of a good chunk of stuff, but I still feel like I could get rid of more. From what I decide to get rid of, I will be selling some of it on eBay to build my savings up a little more, and what I don't sell will be donated if I think it's something that could serve someone else some use (like clothes, stuffed animals, etc). The rest of what I keep, if it isn't something I use or need out, I plan to pack into boxes and stick in my closet, because while I do have the reflection to recognize my hoarding problem, and I also think a decent chunk of my disorganization is the fact that I'm simply outgrowing my childhood bedroom.
Anyway, I won't need to get back to work until Monday (I took some time off so I could have a break from the... *shivers* general public...) so I'll try to work on some things throughout the week, except for some of Friday and most of Sunday. On Friday I have to attend a funeral and go to the store, and on Sunday I'm visiting my cousins while they're in town.
Sorry that most of this, if not all, is not very positive. I don't have much good going for me right now, but I'm trying to keep my head up. Some of it is a monster of my own making after all, and there is no one to take responsibility but me. I expect to have some slip ups as I try to get my life together, but overall I'm going to try very hard to stick to my plans because I know that the way I'm currently navigating life (raw-dogging it day by day) is not productive short-term or long, isn't healthy, and will leave me with nothing but a mountain of regret. I want to do more. This is the start of that, and it's always better to start late than never.

Happy Holidays, and with peace and love. - Socks.Getting the ball rolling again...
Posted 11 months agoNot yet done with my fursuit but I have been taking a break from it for a while. I only enjoy sewing so much...
Still need to make...
- hand paws
- feet paws
- arm sleeves
- tail
I'm planning to make the body once I lose weight, since I've already lost 20 pounds this year and plan to lose more the next. I wouldn't want to make it now and have it be all baggy and whatnot once I'm where I want to be.
As for the head, its roughly halfway done. Still need to make the hair, eyebrows, eyelids, the tongue, attach the jawset to the roof of the mouth, clean up the shave some more, mouth detailing, fix the liner in the head and decide if I want to add liner to the neck. Since this is a personal suit and a first for me, I'm not striving for it to be perfect, but I'm trying my best to make it good. I might make another head in the future since I'm not 100% happy with how it's looking right now, but that's for another year. It's all a learning process after all. Maybe once I'm more financially stable I can commission someone to make a really good one. As for everything else I've made so far (one too-large hand paw that I need to remake smaller x2) I'm pretty happy with.
Huge thank you to FoxFire Fantasy for the pattern I'm using for all four of my paws and all the other help they've given me along the way. Can't wait til I'm finished with it, but as for now I need to get other stuff in order and work on other art more, as well as try to improve my time management skills.
Thanks for reading! <3

Lack of new art, here's why!
Posted a year agoHi guys, just wanted to drop in and apologize for the lack of new art. Unless I get a commission, I don't see myself working on new pieces for a couple of weeks. Why?
I'm making a fursuit! I've finally got all the fur I need to continue working on my suit, so I'm planning to work on it as much as I can until it's complete. Right now, I plan to stick with just feet/hand paws, tail, arm sleeves, and head. I got the fur to make a body later, but I'm going to try to lose some more weight before I do that. I'm so excited to finish it and show everyone. I'll probably post update photos when I can. Thanks for the patience!
That being said, like I mentioned above if I get a commission I will put my fursuit work on hold to focus on the commission, so my comms are still open! Please message me here, telegram, or discord if you'd like some art from me!

Looking for a website programmer!
Posted a year agoI'm looking for someone interested in doing a trade. I get a custom built website that we collaborate on to bring to life. You get art, for the website and any future updates. We can work out the details in private, but I would be offering art of equal value to the work you put in! (I.E. a TON of artworks!!!) Message me on discord, NoSocksMonkey, if you're interested! Send your past work!
