Mandatory tagging!

I decided to visit FA front page to start tagging stuff I don't like to see, but none of them tagged or they did not tag properly, so I couldn't block them. RIP!
Itaku has a feature of mandatory 5 tags. Maybe FA could try that, too.
I think also having FA members suggesting tags for pieces of artwork would be wonderful and helpful.
Excited about the potential to come >:3

Animated YCH Suggestions WANTED!
Posted 10 months agoI've been enjoying animating! I am actually really proud of what I have been able to accomplish considering how little I've animated in a long time.

Right now we don't plan to color animations because gif format doesn't read every color very well. The colors can pixelate and we are not satisfied with that. Probably we will need to just accept that reality and also output video format versions of these animations so that the colors can be accurate.
But for now I like to do sketch animations noncolored!
And with that.... what future YCH animation positions would you be most interested in seeing? :3
Size-differences and chubbier body-types are also on the table!

I'm not really sure of mine. Maybe finish off my debts/build up my emergency fund and maintain my health (better work posture/working out/cardio/STANDARD NEW YEARS RESOLUTION STUFF).
I do know that I feel I want to do more sketch animations, too!

BANNED TERMS: "top" and "bottom"!

But I did want to establish a discussion topic for something confusing that pops up and causes a little difficulty for me and those who commission me sometimes!
Often people share their refs with me for YCH's and define character A and being the "top" and character B being the "bottom". Sometimes I make a mistake and think they mean the character, visually on the YCH, is the "bottom", when they mean the character who is "taking dick, etc." being the "bottom", regardless of their orientation in the drawing.
These terms are imprecise for the purposes of figuring out which character goes where x3 I often get the wrong characters drawn in the wrong poses.
I do want to make it clear I am not upset at anyone. <3 It isn't hard to redraw a sketch WIP to fix this problem (and you're always welcome to keep the first WIP, too!).
Plus, there have been plenty of times I have drawn the wrong character in the wrong pose even though it was perfectly clear. x3

No Minors! (new FA feature)
Posted a year agoI read through the latest FA update today and was excited about the new feature. You can now toggle that anyone with an FA account under the age of 18 can be blocked from viewing your page and content. While I personally don't think minors should use FA at all because it has so much adult content (websites should just choose to be family-friendly or adult, less shared spaces pls) I am glad I have the option to block them from my page. I've wanted this feature for ALL my galleries online for quite some time.

Personal Life Update
Posted a year agoI was hesitant to go into detail about further family matters, but ultimately have decided to share some large life events as they sometimes impact our work.
I mentioned in a previous journal that my sister passed away. Something I did not mention is that me and lofiflavors are now fostering her 6 year old daughter. There has been a lot to learn in the last month about parenting! And as well, juggling childcare with working at-home! My niece has had a bad chronic cough for a long time (before living with us) and we have been working with doctors to treat it. There may be times caring for her will impact our working schedule, which is okay! Her health is important. We just want to be transparent with everyone with what is going on!
All will be well!

IRL Update!
Posted a year agoI want to keep further family matters private, but also express to everyone that me and Lofiflavors have received an increased level of responsibility. We are learning how to balance everything alongside work. We are confident we will work out a good system - but it will take some experimenting with scheduling!

Returned Home
Posted a year agoWe've returned home from managing my sister's celebration of life and other family affairs. As it turns out, we did not have any free time to focus on work. I've never been so busy; 7am til 10pm or later most days. It's been a lot to handle, I have still not fully grieved her loss and with the residual things to handle now.. it's difficult to describe how I feel beyond mentally exhausted. I'm grateful for Lofiflavors for being there through everything. <3

Commissions: The Plan
Posted a year agoTomorrow we will be traveling in-state for some days to help my family with arrangements following my sister's passing.
We scheduled to do a stream on Thursday but we will not be able to do that. So instead I'm thinking about taking periodic commission slots and working on them same-day. Just one at a time, though, and only when I have some hours of idle time; if I have some hours of idle time. We plan to bring work with us generally - we both want to as much as possible. I honestly want to draw. My heart hurts, but I can stand up. I got this!

My Sister
Posted a year agoMy sister passed away last night. I am processing this.
I'm very sad. She and I were trying to make plans to spend time together just recently. She has been in and out of the hospital for the last couple of years. We visited her last month in the hospital, and that was the last time I saw her.
Please allow me some time.

Posted a year agoI've kept this to myself for the most part, but now I've gotten to the point where I am interested in discussing symptoms with other people - especially when I realized how common this is.
During the spring I was trying to get back into walking a lot and keeping up a moderate heartbeat/pace to burn a healthy chunk of calories. I wasn't keeping myself hydrated enough, as the walk doubled in the length I originally planned for it to be. This is the event that started my heart palpitations - later diagnosed as PVC's (premature ventricular contractions). 12-16% burden, which I'm told is pretty high.
Not life-threatening, but quite uncomfortable and exhausting. The fatigue has gotta be the worst part of it.
I'm had tests, and there isn't anything wrong with my heart itself. Which is great!
There have been weeks where I have felt quite good. And weeks where I am very tired. In reading experiences others have had with PVC's, I've learned there are a lot of triggers. So I am focusing on food to try to figure out what makes me feel like SHIT.
Caffeine, chocolate/sugar, are things I feel reasonably confident about needing to eliminate/keep eliminated. Chocolate in particular, even before all of this started, I suspected wasn't agreeing with me well. Which is a shame because it's like.. my favorite thing.

I personally want to avoid the medication treatment and surgery if lifestyle changes can be enough; which for some people it can be.

Posted a year agoI was shocked to hear the news of Dragoneer's passing several days ago, including the circumstances regarding his medical treatment and bill costs. Years ago when I was sick he showed me great patience and kindness and commissioned an artwork from me. I wish his friends and family well through such a devastating time.
I am grateful for the kindness his showed me and his website allowing me to operate my business. 💜💛
