COME SEE ME AT MY TABLE!!

FC has come and gone another year, and yet again it was Quite amazing. I'll do my best to recap what I remember!

There were two things that Really changed my convention experience. The first was working on Staff. I was in the headless lounge with  mav which was both fun and interesting. It was enjoyable giving back, even just a little, to the community, and hanging out with Mav was a fun experience too. I HIGHLY recommend you try working staff for a convention. Honestly, they don't run without volunteers, and they can only get better if more people help out, so try it out =D

The other even bigger change was Tuft. I have a tradition of making a new personal suit for FC, starting with  dbagdawg and then  sassygayfox, and now  tuftthepuffin (whose name I have a page for, I just havent started posting to it yet!). He... Well without him, my con wouldn't have been amazing as it was. Honestly, the reception he got warmed my heart and brought me to tears a number of time. He was built in the week before the convention and I can honestly say he is the best suit I've made to date. Everything about him was a new challenge, from working with fleece, to body padding, to beaks, and wings. I was incredibly proud of my work and was nervous to debut him, but within minutes I could tell people liked him. A HUGE thanks go to :userthayrustback: and :userroyalty: for their help in the process. They were amazing.

I have to share three of my favorite stories in Tuft. First was when  skroy surprised me, while in suit, with an adorable Puffin beany baby. People around that happened to see the event could tell how touched I was when I received the plush. Inside the suit I was crying because, well... I don't get gifts often, and to be thought of by a friend like that moved me greatly. I carried him tightly around the rest of the day, making sure I wouldn't misplace that valuable posession.

The second story revolved around one of the artists who inspired me into the fandom many many years ago.  michelelight has always been one of my favorite artists, and when I passed by her table in the dealers den she lit up and wanted pictures and hugs and all that. Later, when I walked by out of suit she noticed my badge, and that I was the puffin. She told me that I was one of her favorite suits at the convention. Now, for me, this was probably the highlight of the convention. Someone I've looked up to as an artist for over a decade and a half said she liked my work. It took everything I had not to get teary in front of her. I commissioned her to do a sketch for me, which I will scan and upload soon, of Sass holding a Tuft plush. It turned out perfectly and will forever remind me of that amazing moment.

Finally, I decided, for the first time, to enter the fursuit masquerade. I was placed in the masters division with a bunch of other AMAZING suits, and was Very nervous. The suit was Very well received, and I did a cute dance to Shake your Tailfeather that was a TON of fun to do, though very difficult in that large suit XD. In the end, I won the competition, and I was floored. It felt so good to be acknowledged for what I had done. I just hope that I can continue to create new and exciting creations that can best even Tuft.

Other than that, the con was up and down. Lots of tiredness from work and suiting, but luckily I got to spend time with some amazing people. The dances were pretty kick ass, and I had a great time just being around all the creativity and energy. Honestly, my favorite night was Monday night, spending time with friends under the weird tree thingy, connecting with people I didn't really know, and just enjoying what good was around me.

HEY ERRYBODY!

I haven't said much here in a while so I figured I might as well give an update for those who are curious!

Life has been pretty hectic lately, the main reason being receiving a job in Santa Clara California where I will be moving in just over a month. So I've been busy cleaning up and fixing up my house here in Fargo to sell, as well as starting to line up all the stuff I need to in order to make sure I have a place to live down there. If you know me pretty well, you know that I've been looking at moving away from Fargo for some time. There are many great things about it (mostly the friends I've made), but I never thought living here would be long term. So that is very exciting, and I am starting to feel like I can move forward with my life.

I will be visiting the bay this coming Saturday, and will be around for about a week, primarily looking at housing and getting familiar with the area. Though, hanging out with friends and going to Frolic are on my list of stuff to do =P

Other than that, I'm trying to hang out with my local friends as much as possible before I leave, so after I get back from Cali, let me know when we can hang out! I'm gonna miss my local friends a Lot, and I owe them a great deal of gratitude for helping me become more comfortable with myself in a period of great transition, and for just being there when I needed someone to talk to, vent to, or take my mind off of things. Thanks for everything guys =3 Lets make the most of what time I still have here <3

Its about time I throw another party so here are the details:

Im gonna have a black light party at my place on the 15th, 8 PM. If you havent been to a black light party, just wear crap that is good under black lights, and prepare to have fun. We'll also have high lighters and stuff to draw on people so Theres gonna be a 5 dollar cover, but there will be drinks. We're also gonna have an actual bartender this time, so that should be sweet. KEEP IN MIND: I WILL CARD: IF YOU ARE UNDER AGE, YOU WILL NOT BE SERVED ALCOHOL. If you plan on coming, make sure to Tell me. I need to know how many people we're gonna be serving drinks for and stuff. OH, and if you have any cool things like lava lamps, disco balls, or lazers, bring em!

It should be pretty freakin awesome. SO be there =D

I had no real idea what to expect going into this “con.” I had never been to Vegas, and had heard mixed things about the event, but I knew some great people were going, and so I decided to bite the bullet and make the trip. I wasn’t disappointed.


The Event: I can’t call it a Con. It was an event. A multi-day party. A gathering of friends. An experience. Amazing. I was able to spend time with some inspirational people in my life and really recharge emotionally. The hotel was… Different. I Loved the pools, but the pool hours were gross. And the bros infesting the pools were… Well they were great entertainment to say the least. I had mixed feelings about some of the stuff but it was more logistical problems than issues with the event. But I feel like they found these issues out and are going to resolve them in the next year, and I would Gladly go back again.


Highlights:
The People. No joke. Such great people. I loved just chatting, hugging, dancing, eating, wasting money, and suiting with my friends.


Big shout out to  charmhusky for putting together the limo trip. Best fursuiting event I have ever taken part of. Watching  skroy and  leonicninja dancing face to face with street performers on Fremont Street was mesmorizing. I will always remember sticking my head out of a limo on the strip while wearing DBag, just absorbing the lights and the energy of the city. It still brings a tear to my eye.


 woody Thank you. It was awesome talking with you, sharing a smoothie on the verandah, and just connecting with you. Thank you so much for the warm memories.


Meeting such amazing new people. People like my Tequilla buddy  krashpup (Whoooaaaaaaaaaaa…….. That’s Wacky!),  twiggy, Decca,  chairo,  zen and  icelyon (That last night with you two, Ebony, and Chance, is such a great memory and totally made it okay to break my rule about not talking about religion or politics at a con XD) And Icelyon had great taste in cat-related fashion. Also  sydstoat and  leonicninja: It was great hanging out with you. You two are so awesome together and I have some serious respect for both of you guys <3 Cant wait to hang out again.


Hanging out with amazing friends. Even though it had been a while since I had seen some people, it was amazing we just picked right back up and continued as if we never parted. It was so good to see charmhusky, tsukaza (glad I tricked you into thinking I wasn't coming >=3) , skroy (You in suit sleeping on my lap was so unforgettable), pip, jelli, tigerpawatl, rawkzorz, isowolf (So glad you came with us for that giant margarita!), ebonywolf99, doryuu, frisbee,  lupozewolf, neokai (it was cool talking to you more!), dancingduke (you stud you), ausidogchance, and oh my god SO many others. I honestly cant even keep my nights straight right now so if I forgot you, just shout at me! There were so many people I wanna thank for making the experience awesome!


So if I spent time with you or you just wanna shout and say HEY REMEMBER ME?! Do it! I love it when people share their memories of an amazing experience. This fandom and you amazing friends give me joy and bring such amazing energy into my life.

So there are 3 upcoming events that you should all know about!

FIRST: CoreCon is coming up on the 3rd through 5th of May! There will be a furry room at this upcoming Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Anime convention full of fun, treats, and Furries =D This is event is great for all types, from experienced con-goers to those who have never even attended a furry event before. This is fursuit friendly (there will be a fursuit parade during the con), and it should be even More fun than last year! I plan on suiting and holding a bit of an art jam for those who are interested =D I'll probably do free sketches throughout the weekend for those also interested =3

SECOND: In Preperation for Corecon, I am going to have a small gathering at my house to do some decorations for the room! This will happen on the Sunday the 28th, just a few days away. I will be gathering at my place at 2 PM and all you need are some simple craft skills! If you are interested in helping out with this, please say something in the comments. I only need a few people's help, as I only have so many art supplies and so much workspace.

THIRD: ROLLER SKATING =D Monday the 29th is a fursuit friendly rollerskating event! I would love to see as many suiters and those that love suiting as possible =D I will be suiting up in sassygayfox and I know it will be a blast! I hope to see you guys there =3

The party will be at my place, starting at 7. There will be food provided, as long as you pay your cover of $5.
This is a 21 and up party, no exceptions.
There will be food and some alcohol provided, but feel free to bring your own alcohol and mixers! It is highly recommended.

Well, as many of my closer friends know, I'm 30, and have yet to actually have someone I have called Boyfriend (just neglect the fact that I have had girlfriends before XD) And I figure it is about time I do something about it. Instead of looking for someone on some shitty website or hoping to find someone locally or something, I thought I would be proactive about it. What does that mean? With the power of Google docs/forms, I'm making an application!

Requirements:
You must be employed or actively seeking it (There will be an area on the form to also attach a current resume)
You must have a HS degree or the equivalent. Preference will be given to those with a higher education.
You must have or be interested in fursuiting. There is a place to upload pictures of your suit/character on the form.
You must have some sort of special skill. Art is preferred, but I'm open to ideas. You can submit links to examples of your skill on the form. These can be youtube videos, pictures, essays, etc.

Other things. I like being active, having intelligent conversation, playing games, and being outdoors. If your skin never sees the light of day, we might have issues, sorry.

Man, First thing I gotta say is I LOVE YOU GUYS.
Seriously.
This con was one of my favorites for many reasons. I laughed, I was moved, there were so many positives that it is going to be nearly impossible to capture them all here. But I will do my best!
Suiting at this con was a lot of fun. Yeah the elevator wait wasn’t great but it didn’t bother me as much as others. I guess I’ve built up an immunity to the heat in suit, so waiting wasn’t too bad. I LOVED suiting around in Sass and DBag at this con, and people seemed to love the suit. It was So much fun getting to suit with friends new and old (especially you, Griz!!) . I also pushed myself and tried out for the dance comp. I didn’t do very well (lost my beat really quickly, and then my confidence), but that was my first time, which isn’t bad for a 30 year old dude =P. I have some tricks in store that I plan on bringing out at a future con =3c
As far as being out of suit, it was SO GOOD to see so many awesome people! Its gonna be hard to give a good shout out, but know that I appreciate SO many of you guys!!

Had a faaaaaaaaabulous time at Texas Furry Fiesta this year! I must say, it is one of the Best run cons I have ever attended, and I plan on returning next year! This con was the first con I went to more on the artist track than anything else, and it was a great experience! I made a lot of cool badges and met a lot of really great people! Heres the re-cap!

Left Fargo at 5 PM on Wednesday Night, got stuck in snow in Kansas for a few hours, and eventually picked up Sodalite and got to the con at 4PM on Thursday. We checked in, I took a shower, grabbed some food, and I suited. I got to meet Erro and Lavthefox, spent a good part of the evening just enjoying relaxing after the long ride, and retired early to bed.

Friday I got up early to get my spot in the artist alley and get my stuff up in the art show. I had a blast in the alley, meeting new people left and right, and making some great badges and sketches. I really want to thank Yue for trusting me a lot with those badges. I love how they turned out and had a blast making them! It really boosted my confidence for the con. Eventually I wound my work down and suited and such for the evening. I met up with Hakawne and got to meet Ravid and Woody, who were both pretty cool.

Saturday I barely made it in to the artists alley, but then proceeded to draw a lot and get my sketch book out there for others to sketch in. I finished early so I could suit in the parade, and then enjoyed the rest of the day’s antics as I suited and danced and met new people! I also got a chance to hang out with Ludwig, and we went to In and Out Burger. It was… okay =P

Sunday came too quickly and I, again, got a spot in the art show. This time I got up extra early so I wouldn’t have to worry about my spot in line. I got all my work done without issue, checked on my stuff in the art show (I sold 3 pieces! The first time I ever actually sold anything in the art show XD). I got dinner with Ravid and Hakawne, and proceeded to suit the rest of the evening.
I headed out with Sodalite on Monday morning, and thus ended my little con. I really had a blast, and it was good to see so many people!

These are going to be $25 a piece for those delivered by hand to a con, or $30 for those that I need to mail (more if out of the US). They are watercolor/ink/acrylic badges and include lamination and a badge clip! These are all first come first serve, and can only be reserved by commenting in this journal.
