Archetype Informer: Battlin' Boxers
Posted 11 years agoWelcome to Archetype Informer, the segment here at YugiFurs where I tell you about an archetype, its workings, and good cards and combos to go with it. Today's cards are a fiery type of warrior: Battlin' Boxer!
Now, like most decks these days, the purpose of this deck is to XYZ Summon, usually Rank 4 monsters. However, these guys have access to a handful of support that help with their powers. But lets go over the cards first:
MONSTERS
Battlin' Boxer Glassjaw
Battlin' Boxer Switchhitter
Battlin' BoxerHeadgeared
Battlin' Boxer Rabbit Puncher
Battlin' Boxer Rib Gardna
Battlin' Boxer Bailout
Battlin' Boxer Big Bandage
Battlin' Boxer Counterpunch
Battlin' Boxer Sparrer
Battlin' Boxer Shadow
SPELLS
Battlin' Boxer Spirits
TRAPS
Last Counter
EXTRA
Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke
Battlin' Boxer Cheat Commissioner
Number 79: Battlin' Boxer Nova Caeser
Number 105: Battlin' Boxer Star Cestus
Number C105: Battlin' Boxer Comet Cestus
Now, right away you'll notice that the monsters in the archetype bounce of each other nicely. Headgeared sends away Glassjaws and Counterpunches for you to use their abilities, Switchitter makes an instant Lead Yoke, Sparrer helps with XYZs, and Nova Caser sets up mass defense and XYZ opportunities
Also, a few tricks some people may not have known about:
1.) Sparrer makes it so you can't battle the turn you use him. You'd think that means you can't play him after the Battle Phase, similar to Pot of Duality and Special Summons right? Nope! You can play Sparrer after the Battle Phase just fine
2.) Glassjaw DOES get his effect if detached from a monster, its qualified as being sent to the Graveyard due to an effect
To help your deck, here are some cards to help it out:
1.) Foolish Burial: Send away a Counterpunch or Glassjaw without having to risk playing Headgeared in attack mode, or send something for Switchhitter or Spirits to revive
2.) Masked Chameleon: Adds Synchro capabilities to the deck by reviving Glassjaw
3.) Goblindberg gets you and instant XYZ Summon, and is more fodder for Masked Chameleon
4.) Pinpoint Guard: Brings back pretty much any monster from the Graveyard outside your Extra Deck and makes it immune to destruction for the turn. It even prevents Glassjaw's self destruction effect!
These guys aren't exactly combo heavy seeing as how their whole shtick is bringing out monsters to bring more monsters form the Extra Deck, and we all know how to do that. But there are a few things that are nifty to do:
1.) Summon Battlin Boxer Headgeared to send away another Boxer. Special Summon Sparrer and bring out Lead Yoke. Next, detach from Lead Yoke (which will boost its ATK to 3000 due to its ability) to bring out Shadow. Then, use either another Sparrer or Battlin' Boxer Spirits to bring back a Boxer and go for another Lead Yoke or Nova Caseser to start giving materials to
2.) Bring out Lead Yoke and Cheat Commissioner, Commissioner will force your opponent to keep attacking Lead Yoke, who gets stronger each time he detaches. So even if Lead Yoke is beaten in battle, he'll get stronger, and your opponent will have no choice but to fight it
3.) Use Masked Chameleon to bring out Scrap Dragon. Destroy Lead Yoke (who won't be destroyed and will power up) to destroy an opponent's card for free, AND have two big attackers ready to brawl
That's really about it, the deck is simple to use and understand, and what combos you pull really depends on he versatility of your Extra Deck. But these guys can generate massive field presence and play off the Graveyard to an extent. So play around with them, see what you can come up with~

February Tournament Results + Community Poll
Posted 11 years agoOut of 12 competitors in 4 fierce rounds,
Camerino has emerged as the victor of the February Tournament!
samisaurus came in close behind at 2nd place, and
money8giver8 was in third place.
Thank you everyone for making my first tournament a success, I look forward to working with everyone in the near future ^^ With that in mind, I want to hear what everyone wants from this group. Archetype Informer is a welcome addition, varied tournaments have received some support as well. In trying further include the community, Challenges were recently revived and yet very few have participated in that. Extra information is added to tournament journals to engage everyone as much as possible, and no one responds to that extra information.
What would attract everyone to respond more as a community? We want to encourage players responding to each other and learning from each other to grow as duelists. What are some ideas you want considered for the future?
In other news, our Number Hunters tournament will be posted tomorrow. It will be a deck-building tournament like you haven't seen before. It will be playing yugioh in a way that promotes skill and a varied experience with each duel.
Happy dueling~

Next month, Yugifurs will be hosting a Number Hunters event! There will be a lot of rules in order to make the tournament different from any we have hosted before, so make sure to read the rules carefully. It will test your deck making abilities, yet should prove to be a fun dueling experience.

Archetype Informer: Ghostrick
Posted 11 years agoWelcome to the next installment of Archetype Informer! This time around we'll be heading up a bunch of cards that enjoy the tide of Halloween: Ghostrick!
A rather defensive deck that doesn't necessarily have a set way to win, these guys will test your skills as a duelist because everything about them revolves around precise field and hand control to make them work. They're a tricky bunch, and we're gonna find out why
First, lets see what we've got to work with:
MONSTERS
Ghostrick Jackfrost
Ghostrick Ghoul
Ghostrick Mummy
Ghostrick Witch
Ghostrick Jiangshi
Ghostrick Yukki-Onna
Ghostrick Stein
Ghostrick Skeleton
Ghostrick Werewolf
Ghostrick Mary
Ghostrick Lantern
Ghostrick Spectre
Ghostrick Nekomusume
Ghostrick Doll
Ghostrick Succubus
Ghostrick Yeti
SPELLS
Ghostrick Museum
Ghostrick Mansion
Ghostrick Parade
TRAPS
Ghostrick Go-Round
Ghostrick Vanish
Ghostrick Scare
Ghostrick Night
EXTRA
Ghostick Allucard
Ghostrick Dullahan
Some good cards to go with them are:
Needle Ceiling: Since the majority of Ghostrick cards focus on flipping themselves face-down, this card will destroy all your opponent's monsters while leaving yours unscathed
Nobleman of Crossout: A few Ghostrick cards make plays based around forcing opponent's monsters face-down. When they are, this card and banish them, leaving you less to deal with
Book of Moon/Book of Eclipse: Helps aid with flipping opponent's monsters face-down
Shield Crush: Works with Ghostrick Witch and Book of Moon
Swords of Concealing Light: Another good option to make your opponent's monster defend
Mystic Tomato: Since most Ghostrick monsters have fewer than 1500 ATK, this card will get the ones you want out to the field faster
Now, since Ghostricks rely heavily on bait-and-switch tactics (defending until you can get a decent set-up, then striking quickly when the opponent is forced to defend, only to go back to defending right after), there aren't really a lot of combos these guys can pull off or focus on. Most of the time what you'll end up doing is defending while you set up cards to help your search or play hand traps to help you gain a field advantage. Then, using a few pick-off effects or Mansion, attack a bit and go back and forth using these tactics. However, there ARE a few moves you can make that might help ease the repetitive notion this deck provides:
1.) Using Ghostrick Ghoul, pool all of your monster's ATK to this card, then use Ghostrick Succubus to destroy an opponent's monster whose ATK is lower. Since Ghoul will likely have higher points, it should be easy to execute
2.) If your opponent has a tricky monster out, use Ghostrick Witch to force it face-down (or Book of Moon) and take it out with Nobleman of Crossout or Ghostrick Allucard
3.) Expanding on the combo with Ghostrick Ghoul, you can pool all your ATK to him, destroy with Ghostrick Succubus, and then have Ghoul attack directly with Mansion. He'll usually fare 3000 or more ATK with his ability if you have a full field, so if this works you can win in 2 - 3 turns
4.) If you find you can't hit your opponent, you can use Ghostrick Jiangshi to search out Skeleton, then using Spectre and Lantern as means of defense, re-use Ghostrick Skeleton's mill/banish ability. With a full field, you can win in a maximum of eight turns (provided your opponent has no more than 40 cards in their deck)
Ghostricks are truly a deck that require time and patience to work right. They aren't highly aggressive and you need to be constantly planning ahead to be able to use them effectively. But do so, and they'll be a lot of fun to use, and a great annoyance to your opponent
Happy dueling!~

Report your wins here, and also the name of the decks used. If there are any further questions, send a note over to
the tournament host. If there is a conflict between opponents, such as unsportsman-like behavior or being unable to set up a time, show evidence that you tried to resolve the matter and upon review you may be given the match. Hopefully there will be no need for this.
Good luck and have fun! ^^

To keep these tournament journals exciting, there will be an extra tidbit to each one to keep the non-tournament players engaged with each journal. No excuse to miss any now ;3
Konami is changing the way Yu-Gi-Oh! is enjoyed around the world. 2 separate banlists that are more frequent have been updated recently, Legacy of the Valient became TCG legal last month, Primal Origin will be released in the OCG in a few days, Korea will be getting exclusives, and a new anime titled Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc V will be released in April. Where is the one place to go for verified information?
http://www.ygorganization.com/
YGOrganization is staffed by the, well, staff, of the most popular and diverse yugioh communities. Rumored banlists are dismissed, fake cards are analyzed and disproven, and incorrect information is corrected. Everything that is posted is fact checked, and if they aren't 100% sure, they will explicitly say so, and explain why they are giving the information prematurely anyway. checking this site every now and then is the surest way to keep updated on Yu-Gi-Oh! news around the world ^^
For today, there were two posts. One about the full set list of Astral Pack 4 being released (http://www.ygorganization.com/astra.....rtial-spoiler/). The second is more information on Primal Origin with 2 revealed Ghostrick cards (http://www.ygorganization.com/prio-news-and-leaks/).
Korean exclusives are revealed in this article (http://www.ygorganization.com/kr-ne.....f-the-valiant/)
Information is generally short and sweet to keep all the bias and potential plays out of the info, keeping this a pure information hub. Check it out every few days~

CHALLENGES RELEASED !!!
The long awaited challenge page has been completed. Players can now earn extra rank points by completing various challenges. Each challenge will have a date to when it starts and ends, so be sure to check the challenge page from the main page. Today will host two test challenges and many to come. The points given will be added to the leader boards but the points given, will not be a landslide of points to push players too high up. They are ment for fun and competitive use and will NOT ruin the scoring of the leader boards. Challenges will give no more than 3 points, as they will not shatter the use of the leader board. Challenges can only be completed once, as new ones will appear every so often. Be sure to check out the Challenge page as well for some other rules.
As a reminder, the two challenges for this week can be found on the front page of yugifurs. Admin Takedown and Number Hunters will continue until the end of february 4th, so get those challenges in~

Archetype Informer: Photon/Galaxy
Posted 11 years agoThe results are in, and the winner of the first "Choose the Archetype Informer" is Photon/Galaxy!
This is going to be a special edition, where I expand upon what I already do in the Informers, and add a bit more. Along with telling you cards in the archetype and ones that can go with it, I'll also delve into how to make a deck with them. Since everybody has a different play style, I won't give you a build, but give recommendations as to what cards tend to be better than others, and what number to run them at. (Remember, these are suggestions based on my research, in the end YOU choose to use what you like).
So, let's get started:
Now, this archetype has a couple of different things it can do. Which its big send-off is manipulating its monster's ATK to be 2000 or more so as to bring out its trump card, it also has a variety of other strategies to offer, such as level manipulation, ATK increasing, and primarily XYZ Summoning. All of the monsters in it are Light Attribute, and as said before, its primary goal is to bring out Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. That is what a good chunk of the deck works towards, but is by no means the only thing it can do. It can also XYZ Summon Rank 4 and 8 monsters (or 5 and 9 if Photon Satellite is used)
These guys technically have two archetypes: Photon and Galaxy, the Dragon being in both categories. Lets go over the cards within them both:
MONSTERS
Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon
Galaxy Wizard
Galaxy Knight
Photon Thrasher
Photon Crusher
Photon Chargeman
Photon Pirate
Photon Satellite
Photon Caeser
Photon Cerberus
Photon Circle
Photon Slayer
Photon Sabre Tigre
Paladin of Photon Dragon
Photon Lizard
Photon Wyvern
Photon Leo
Kuriphoton
Orbital 7
SPELLS
Accellight
Photon Booster
Photon Lead
Photon Sanctuary
Photon Trident
Photon Veil
Light Dragon Ritual
Galaxy Zero
Galaxy Expedition
TRAPS
Photon Current
EXTRA
Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon
Twin Photon Lizard
Starliege Lord Galaxion
Number 62: Prime Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon
Highly recommended to use:
Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon (2-3):This is the boss monster of the deck, and rightfully so. Not only is he a strong attacker and the bane of XYZs, but two of the Extra Deck cards require him to be overly useful. He's also a sinch to get out, both with his summoning ability and through Starliege Lord Galaxion
Galaxy Wizard (2-3): Not only can this card change its level to 8 to allow for high rank XYZ Summons, but it can be tributed to search almost any card in the deck and add it right to your hand, making for easy ways to plan your moves
Galaxy Knight (1-2): This guy can basically summon himself if you have a Photon or Galaxy monster out, and when he does, you can bring Galaxy-Eyes from your Graveyard. So that's two monsters for attacking or to be used as XYZ material
Photon Thrasher (1-2): Brings itself out if you have no monsters and has incredible ATK for its level. Makes for easy XYZ Summons
Photon Crusher (1-2) Good ATK, and switches to DEF so you don't take an battle damage. Combos well with Thrasher
Photon Pirate (1): Increases its ATK to up to 3000 for a turn, so not only a good beatstick that can fill the summoning requirements for Galaxy-Eyes, but is level 4 and can be used as an XYZ material
Photon Lizard (1-2): A nifty card that can search out Photon monsters to be used. Combos well with Thrasher
Photon Sanctuary (2-3): Not only can these tokens sit and be menacing with 2000 ATK each, but this allows an instant Galaxy-Eyes or Photon Caeser play, or can fit the bill for Light Dragon ritual
Galaxy Zero (1-2): Instant Galaxy-Eyes from your Graveyard. It can't attack or use its ability while equiped, but you can still use it for an XYZ Material at no cost to you. Plus, if the equip is destroyed, Galaxy-Eyes sticks around and gets its ability back
Galaxy Expedition (1-2):Another search card, similar to Galaxy Wizard but doesn't require you to tribute a monster
Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon (1-2): This deck's ultimate trump card, and the terror of all XYZ monsters. Negates all face-up effects of your opponent's, steal XYZ materials to increase its ATK and gains multiple attacks at the same time, and if nothing else its 4500 base ATK is nothing to sneer at
Starliege Lord Galaxion (1-2): This guy can bring out Galaxy-Eyes from your deck OR hand by tossing a few materials. That's two beatsticks with 2000 and up ATK right off the bat
Number 62: Prime Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon (1-2): A new card in the series, and a good one. Without Galaxy-Eyes as material, it can boost its ATK to a minimum of 5600, and with the Dragon as material, makes it so it comes back with 8000 ATK right away. And with such high ATK, your opponent will have no choice but to use an effect and risk this massive amount of strength!
~~~
Cards that are okay, but not a necessity:
Photon Satellite (1): While good, this card DOES require another Photon monster out to be useful, and its level will vary depending on what you use. So you'll have varying levels, which means your Extra Deck has to adapt, so it won't be as consistent since you'll have to cater to the cards this guy COULD produce, rather than an Extra Deck full of cards you know it CAN make
Photon Caeser (2): This is actually pretty good, its a level 8 monster that brings out another copy of itself for an XYZ Summon, and you can use Photon Sanctuary for this. However, the downside is the other copy has to be in the deck, if its your hand then you're out of luck and wasted your summon
Accellight (1): A good card if you find yourself without a monster, the problem being you can't summon anything else the turn you use it
Photon Twin Lizard (1): A good beater with a decent amount of ATK, and can bring out the monsters used to make it. Good for a quick hit and run tactic
~~~
Every other card that wasn't listed above are ones that generally are too slow, situational, or require you to overextend to make proper use of. They're not all bad, but they're not all overly good either. They fall in the middle somewhere, but if you wish to use them or make good tech options, then there's nothing wrong with that
~~~
Good cards to add in:
Honest: All the monsters are Light, so this guy is almost a must
Beckoning Light: A nifty option to allow you to regain Light monsters to your hand
Lightwave Tuning: If you want to include Synchro Summons, this is a good card to go with, almost all the monsters are level 4
Lumenize: This is like a watered-down Negate Attack mixed with Honest, and can turn the tides in any battle
Ray of Hope: Adds Light monsters back for further use
~~~
Now, the Extra deck will vary person to person more so than the deck will itself. There are only a handful of Rank 8 monsters to choose from, and Rank 4 monsters people tend to choose their favorites. The ones that tend to be staples, though, are:
Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis: Destruction of cards and can create certain plays with Galaxy-Zero
Starliege Paladynamo: Effect Negation and lets you draw a card
~~~
Now, the majority of combos in this deck aren't actually combos, most of them just focus on either getting out Galaxy-Eyes as quickly as possible, or getting out a bunch of beatsticks for XYZ Summons or attacking a lot. Its simple, but effective, and really the best way to figure out what to make of these guys is to try them out for yourself. They've got a lot to offer, and I hope if you use them, that you enjoy them as much as I do
Thank you for your contributions to this installment, and happy dueling!
Your Choice: Votes
Posted 11 years agoSo, its been one week since the journal to vote on the contents of the next Archetype Informer was posted, and there have a been a few interesting options brought forth. The ones that seem to either be wanted the most, and that seem the more interesting to view, are Galaxy/Photon and Bujin
So, of these two, which would you guys like to see reviewed the most? The votes will be tallied and the journal made in a few days time (possibly a week depending on how the replies go)
For those who don't know, Bujin is a deck that focuses on having certain monsters in the hand and Grave to manipulate certain monsters on the field and give them advantages. Photon/Galaxy is about getting out one or two boss monsters and getting Rank 4 and 8 XYZ summons. Both are focused on Light Attribute monsters
So, what will you decide?
Archetype Informer: Your Choice!
Posted 11 years agoThat's right! This will be a special edition of Archetype Informer where you guys decide what will be gone over. Ban Hammer Away!
Posted 12 years agoWelcome to the November Tournament here at YugiFurs! As you all know, the ban hammer has swung and struck quite a few things, so here's the chance to test your skills!
Here's how the tournament works: You each have until Saturday each week to complete you duels. So, the results will be in every Saturday night by 12 pm EST, and the next round will be posted the next day (Sunday). This is a swiss style tournament, so if you lose your match, you're out
When posting, please say who won, followed by the decks used, and what the score was. Example: (name) 2-1 Noble Knight vs Ghostrick
Now, if you're using cards from Shadow Spectres, and they are not on Dueling Network yet, you CAN use a proxie AS LONG as you notify your opponent ahead of time what the proxie card is and what it is being used for. If you have anything to bring to the Staff's attention during this tournament, please feel free to do so
For a reference on what cannot be played, refer to this journal (it HAS been modified with a few suggestions that have been received): http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/...../#cid:36819031
