Posted 5 years agoHey everyone. I'm a first time gecko owner, and I just had a few questions I was hoping that could be answered.
I have a 3 month old male gecko, I've had him for about a week now and he has only pooped and eaten once. I've heard this is normal but it still worries me. I was curious if those little jelly pots are okay for him? I've put one out and he took a few licks of it and went into one of his hides haha I assume they're not very nutritious for him but wanted him to at least try something. I'm currently trying to feed him mealworms in a shallow dish.
How often do they drink? I have a bottle cap filled with water at the moment, as the reptile shop had those in their store vivs.
I also have a wet hide for him on the warmer side of the tank, can this replace a larger water bowl for him to soak in?
I'm a bit of a night owl and stay up late working, because of this I have my lamp turned on. Is it okay for me to put a blanket/towel over the glass part of the viv to simulate darkness/night? (his viv is mainly wood with glass doors)
I live in a shared apartment so the only place for the viv is in my bedroom, is it okay for me to vacuum around him, or should I put him in a breathable tub in another room for a short time while I clean my bedroom?
The reptile store I bought him from said he was a Tremper Sunglow. I'm unsure of he is albino or not as his eyes look like a deep red. Here's a link to a few pics of him https://imgur.com/a/3M3Flac
Judging from the pictures (taken fairly recently) when would he be due to shed? I'm unsure what colour he'd turn as he's already fairly light coloured.
His temp is around 27-30 celsius, and his humidity is around 40 during the day but goes up during the night to around 50-60 which is not ideal. I have a sock of rice in there too, to try and bring it down a bit.
I also have a uvb light for him, but I've read that they don't like them/don't really need them if there's lots of natural light.
Any advice and tips are welcome! Thank you :)Art Fight!

Posted 5 years agoThis is just.....surreal. I remember months ago thinking nah it'll never come to the UK.....then no way, it won't hit my home town. Then thinking the lockdown was just a rumour. Boy was I wrong.
Look at the situation now, we're grounded to our homes only to be let out for essentials. Having to be super careful not to make contact with anyone, not even stand near someone. Fearing the loaf of bread I just picked up from the store might have the virus on the packaging, wiping every little thing down.
This whole situation is bizarre, leaving the house for food and seeing all the shops closed, hardly anyone about. It's almost like the apocalypse had happened.
The UK is now in a 3-week lockdown with 2 remaining which could be extended, and there's talk of social distancing possibly lasting up to 6 months. I'm just wondering will the future be permanently different? In a sense with how we act with one another, keeping our distance and being extra careful with hygiene. I mean it's a good thing, people need to take this seriously to save lives and it's pretty upsetting hearing stories of people not taking it seriously and visiting friends and family outside their own household.
With all of that aside, I have been noticing the supermarkets are making a recovery with their stock. There's actually food on the shelves and even toilet roll haha
and I'm forever grateful that Dominos Pizza is still up and running for all my pizza needs
We cannot forget to thank our health system and all of their workers (I know....pizza is great but the NHS is better) I have family members who are on the front line who I am ever so proud of helping patientsI need help identifying this animal sound!

Well....I have no clue wtf is making this distressing sound.
My assumptions are mating cats or foxes or a dying seagull as I live near the coast (this is the UK btw)

Posted 5 years agoOkay my knowledge on the subject is sparse but I thought my FA page wasn't supposed to pop up on search engines like google if I blocked search engine indexing? Like a while ago my FA wouldn't pop up on google and now it does....maybe it was a coincidence that it never used to?
