Artist Hunting
General | Posted 5 years agoSometimes it can be really hard to find the right artist for a piece you have in your head, not because there aren't plenty of talented artists taking commissions for really great prices, but because the themes of the idea are intense. I've often found that a lot of artists would be happy to handle some of the hardcore themes, but not all of them. I have found a couple of artists that seem like they would have been comfortable to work with all of the themes of the idea, but they disappeared years ago. I guess I'll just have to keep looking for now.
If you're curious about what the themes involved are, they include things like: rape, blood, feral on anthro, size difference, and exhibitionism. If you know of any artists that are willing to work will all of these themes for a really good price, let me know.

Fursuits
General | Posted 10 years agoThe maker for my original suit opened for commissions again today and that sort of got me thinking that I might like a v2 of him at some point, it's been 4 years already since I got him and he definitely shows signs of his age. Go for a smaller head and maybe make him a bit more toony. Of course, since I have other fursuit plans in the works it might be a little while before it happens. For reference, here is the timeline of my fursuits as has happened and is planned:
Jun 2011 - Yuuryuu partial(wolf version)
Jan 2015 - Chirou
July/August 2015 - Yuuryuu(otter version) I have this commissioned and it's scheduled for July completion but who knows exactly when it will arrive.
Probably by the end of 2016 - Yuuryuu(alt color dragon version) I know who I want to commission for it and the basic alternate coloration, but I don't have a ref for him yet.
Sometime after 2016 - Yuuryuu(wolf version) v2 At this point he'll be going on 6 years old. The exact timing is still unknown, but it will depend on how I am with the other 3 and if I actually have a purpose for this suit anymore.
I'm not sure when, if ever, I'll do more with the wolf version because my different suits will be for different things. The problem I'm going to have with him, is that when I go to get ready for version 2 his purpose will be filled by my dragon version suit. I always played the wolf version as a more brooding character, but that's exactly what I want the dragon for. It wouldn't make sense to make him playful because that's what Chirou's for. Maybe I'll have to look at trying something in between, that could work well, but it's tough to play. Maybe by then I'll actually have the experience to pull it off.

BLFC 2015 Hotel Update
General | Posted 10 years agoSo I received a letter from the GSR apologizing about my hotel situation at BLFC. They explained that they had an issue on Friday where a lot of people who had said they were checking out that day didn't which is what led to them being so over booked and my needing to spend a night at the Circus Circus. In the letter they offered me a free night depending on availability that I can use it anytime so long as it is within 1 year of the date of the letter. I know I won't go to Reno except for BLFC so I hope to be able to use it for the con next year but they haven't announced their 2016 dates yet so I don't know if that will work out. It would be awesome if it did.
BLFC 2015 Report
General | Posted 10 years agoWell, I think the entire thing can by summed up simply by saying, "well, that could have gone better..."
I had all of my plans laid out almost as soon as I could, but started cancelling things when I started a new job in January and found out I wouldn't have my PTO for 6 months. I was later reminded that I had a floating holiday I could use at anytime so I started making plans again. I decided I wanted to be there Saturday and Sunday so I booked a new room and requested Monday off planning to drive out after work on Friday. I figured that I'd only take one of my suits since I wouldn't have a lot of time anyway and it would be easier. Now that you know what I planned, on to the report.
Friday: Friday started pretty much exactly as I planned, I went to work in the morning with my car all packed up and headed out straight from work. I only stopped on my way out of town to top off my car's gas tank. Mostly the drive was uneventful, although I did have to drive through some pretty heavy rain/thunder storms. Anyway, I arrive at the GSR at about the time I had planned, 11:00 PM. I go to check in only to be told that they are severely overbooked and that they literally do not have a room to offer me. Because of this they call a cab for me to take me to the Circus Circus which was the only place in town that they could find rooms. The GSR paid for the cab ride and the room at the Circus Circus (Although I had to give them my credit card to cover any other things and it currently has the room charge pending on it). I figured I wouldn't try and fight the issue because they have no rooms anyway and I was tired, as you can imagine after 8 hours of work followed by an 8 hour drive. I leave all of my stuff at the bell desk and go crash at the other hotel. I had planned on picking up my badge and seeing about getting some hugs before crashing, but I hear that reg closed early anyway.
Saturday: I didn't sleep well at all. I was frustrated about the situation and just wanted to get back to the con to see everyone, but I had to wait for a supervisor at the front desk so I could get the cab ride back covered. I did get back and to the con early, but still had stuff to deal with, for instance the cab fare and pending room. They told me that my room was being prepared and it should be ready by 11:00 AM. I asked for a free meal at the Grand Cafe for the inconvenience of the situation and they happily wrote out a single use voucher for $40, but I still had no room and my stuff was still stuck at the bell desk. This of course makes it difficult to change clothes or get in fursuit. Anyway, I go down to the con floor and run into a couple friends and we go to get breakfast. Then I went down to pick up my badge, but registration opened late. After getting my badge I wandered into the dealer's den and looked around; I couldn't really buy stuff though because my money was, you guessed it, at the bell desk. I could have used a card, but I like using cash as it's an easy way to budget myself. I checked with the front desk about my room at 11:00 and it still wasn't ready. I was told that housekeeping was there right then and it would be about 30-40 minutes. I left my phone number and they said they would call when it was ready. At 1:00 PM I still hadn't received a call so I went and double checked...well, a friend tried to push me to go earlier, but I stopped and did the rewards promotion games I had and won a $50 single use voucher for any restaurant in the hotel. When I did check my room was ready so I went and got unpacked and relaxed for a little while. Another perk of the room situation was that I was upgraded to an Imperial Suite. You know those rooms behind the double doors at the ends of the hallways? Yeah, I had one of those at no extra charge, I really didn't need the space though. I finally got into fursuit after giving Chirou a good brush and made it downstairs probably about 3:00 PM and went to the dealer's den to show friends that I had finally been in my room before going to the Fur What It's Worth panel to hand out flyers for Furry Unlocked. After the panel it was time for the fursuit photo and parade...it was my first photo and parade in a full suit and I was dead by the end of it so I got out of suit and went to dinner with a bunch of people. After that I went to a party...things happened...and then I went to bed around 3:00 AM.
Sunday: I didn't sleep really well again, but better than at the Circus Circus. I eventually and reluctantly climbed out of bed and went to get food. I got side tracked and did some gambling instead...I eventually decided that food was more important and went over to the Grand Cafe again and ran into the host of the party and we got breakfast together and I used my $40 voucher to cover both of us. I mean, I don't get change, I might as well cover other people to use as much of the $40 as possible right? After that I went down to the dealer's den intending to buy stuff (hurray finally having my money!), but I only bought a BLFC dog tag because the books I was wanting were all sold out. I played a game of Adult Loaded Questions with some friends and mostly hung out in the con space. I was thinking I'd get in suit, but I wasn't able to hold character for the suit I brought on Saturday and I knew I wouldn't have any more success on Sunday so I didn't bother. My other suit would have been fine though, that character is pretty much me anyway. I had dinner reservations at 5:30 at Rim for a group of people from Utah. I had about 10 people say they were coming but only 3 of those people came and we happened to run into another person right there so of my reservation for 10 we only had 5. The restaurant was happy to accommodate us though and we had a good meal. I used the $50 voucher I won from the promotion to pay for myself and a couple of other people. Then we went down to watch closing ceremonies. By the end my stomach was upset. Someone suggested it was food poisoning, but I had had a bit of indigestion the night before as well. I find that I change my eating habits a lot at a can and it makes my body unhappy. So I stayed in my room the rest of the night, but I did have a couple of people come over while I started getting things packed. I went to bed at about midnight I think.
Monday: Once again I didn't sleep well...I finished packing and started hauling things out to my car. You see, there are some rules for using the bell desk that makes it more complicated when you're by yourself packing up to leave so I carried everything out to my car myself and it took 3 trips. On my way back to grab more stuff I stopped to cashout my gambling money and only lost about $15 in the casino, that's really good for me. I got breakfast and headed out. The drive home was uneventful, more rain, but mostly fairly light.
Long story short: The con didn't go as well as I'd have liked. It's not the con's fault, I was just put into a bad mood as soon as I arrived and struggled to pull myself out of it. The hotel situation made it almost not worth it to make the trip because I spent half my first actual day there worrying about that which is why I wasn't going to go without time off in the first place. I will be back next year, and I'll actually have my PTO so I'll be able to have a longer and hopefully better con. I love what BLFC is doing, I just had some things explode on me this year.

Gallery Transfer Tool
General | Posted 10 years agoFor some time I've been thinking about submitting all of my stuff somewhere else so that I have it in a couple of places and I think I've decided to use SoFurry. InkBunny has a reputation as a babyfur site so it's fairly dead, I've had issues with Weasyl admins in the past (There are details elsewhere), and it is my understand that the DeviantArt can be violently anti-furry. I used to think SoFurry was incredibly and unusably slow, but it's gotten a lot better so it seems like the best choice for me.
That said, I don't really want to go through and reupload everything in my gallery individually, it would be much better to have a tool that just goes through and does it. Does anyone know of a tool like that?
I know this might seem like the standard "FUCK IMVU!!!" post, but I have no intentions of leaving FA at the moment. I'm of the opinion that I should wait and see what happens before freaking out about it. I'm just genuinely curious about using a second site in addition to FA and would love a tool to port my current submissions over. I know there are cross post tools for new images, but I want something for existing images.
Thanks.

Further Confusion Room Space
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, I have plans to attend FC in January and it'd coming up really quick. However, I have a bit of a problem. You see, I booked a room at the Hilton from Wednesday - Monday morning with a few people planning to attend as well. Unfortunately, they've all had to cancel because of major life changes that happened since we planned to room together. This leaves me with a room all to myself at the moment, which wouldn't be terrible, just really expensive. I have 3 room spots open at the moment that I would love to get filled up.
If you're still looking for a room at FC, let me know and I'll send you details including the cost and my rules.

Megaplex Report
General | Posted 11 years agoYeah, it's been several weeks since the convention, but I figure I can still post about my experience.
I want to start by saying that I had a fantastic time and would definitely like to go again, however, it will probably be a few years because it's a hassle to fly out there.
Thursday:
Not much to say for most of the day, I woke up early and was driven to the airport where I checked my bags, got through security, and stopped to get breakfast. As I was eating I saw
dotx walking down the terminal. He had tried very hard to call me the night before to tell me that he was going, but I was really busy getting ready and didn't pick up. It turned out that we were on the same flight. The flights were uneventful, but we only had a short stop in Phoenix where we had enough time to get a sandwich to take on the plane for later and get to the gate before they started boarding. After getting to the hotel we met up with my room mates and picked up badges. I then got into suit and went to bowling. I didn't actually do any bowling, the place was packed and it was hard to move around.
Friday:
I woke up and went down for breakfast at the cafe in the hotel before heading over for Opening Ceremonies and the Dealer's Den. After hanging around for a little while and buying stuff I went and got into suit. I only lasted a couple hours because of the heat and humidity I mostly spent the day wandering around or going to events because I really didn't know anyone there. I did go out in fursuit later that night, but I didn't stay out long and didn't do much.
Saturday:
I woke up and got setup for a quick change into fursuit because I knew I wouldn't have a lot of time to get it on. I went to the super sponsor lunch and then had to rush back upstairs to get in and make it down for the fursuit photo and the parade. I did make it on time and was actually towards the middle of the photo which was a surprise. Then I did some more random wandering before getting out of suit for dinner. I caught the tail end of the "Fox and Friends Reunion Concert" out of suit. I then got back in suit and actually found myself at the dance. I got there during Firr's set. Usually when I step into a dance I'm not really interested in getting on the dance floor, but that guy really knows how to work a crowd. After just standing off to the side for a couple minutes I couldn't help myself, I just had to get out there and shake my tail. I went to bed shortly after that.
Sunday:
I woke up and once again got breakfast in the hotel and then got into fursuit. I went to the C.A.R.E. Presentation and auction. I was looking at buying a couple of specific items, but they went for quite a bit more than I was willing to pay for them. I'm glad they did because they were certainly worth a lot more than I was willing to pay for them. I did buy the set of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards. After the auction I stuck around to get some pictures with the animals from C.A.R.E. and there were some really adorable ones. After that I got out of suit for food before going to the Pawpets Live show. I kinda wish I had been in suit for that, but I really needed to eat and it was a good break. After Closing Ceremonies I went and got back in suit intending to walk in the late night parade. It was a tough wait, I spent most of it just wandering back and forth between the two dances, both were dead, but I had more fun the fursuit friendly one. After the parade I was really exhausted so I headed back up to my room to get out of suit and take a shower. After getting out of the shower I was on Radio Unifurse with a couple of my room mates,
campionl and
howler talking about the con. Then I went to bed, I just sort of passed out.
Monday:
It was time to say goodbye so I woke up and got my stuff packed up ready to head out. I had an afternoon flight, but the room needed to be vacated so I ended up at the airport about 4 hours before I was scheduled to leave. The flight was mostly uneventful except for all of the kids. There was one family of four that decided to split up because there were only groups of 3 seats. I only mention this because their idea of splitting up was to seat the 2 kids next to me unsupervised while the parents sat somewhere else. It actually wasn't too bad, the kids were well behaved for the most part, I just found it odd. The plane landed in Denver where I was expecting a 2 hour layover, however, we landed and were hurried off the plane because a tornado had been spotted at the airport. No one on the plane knew if it was serious or not because the flight crew had been joking most of the flight, but sure enough, after leaving the plane we were hurried into tornado shelters. It didn't delay my second flight too much, but it was definitely interesting. The rest of the trip home was uneventful.
I went to Megaplex knowing I wouldn't know many people there and I was absolutely right. I also didn't really do a good job of meeting knew people. I have long insisted that conventions are what you make of them, and I did what I wanted to do and had a fantastic time. It may have been better had I worked harder to be more social, but it might have also made it much worse for me. I do want to go again, but doubt I'll make it for a few more years. There are several other conventions that happen around the same time of year that I also want to attend and it can be hard to make it to multiple conventions within a couple of months. I hope next time I'll have some other people to travel with because it's always better to travel with friends.

Furry Convention in Salt Lake City!?
General | Posted 11 years agoHey everyone, did you know that there is a furry convention in Salt Lake City? I know it's hard to believe, but there is, it's called Unthrocon! It started several years ago as a party between friends that couldn't make it to Anthrocon. Well, over the past couple years it's grown bigger and bigger to the point where it was too large for the hosts to contain it in their home. So they decided to move it to a hotel for more space. There was so much interest that they decided it was time to bump it up to a full length convention. That first party at a hotel was 2 years ago and they had their first full length con last year. About 150 people showed up and everyone had a great time.
This year they are doing it again and it promises to be better than ever! I'd like to extend a personal invitation to everyone to come to Utah the weekend of October 31-November 2 and help make this small Utah furry convention the absolute best it can be! Can't make it to the convention because of distance, money, or conflicts? That's okay, please help spread the word. This convention can grow and become even more amazing if we show it some love.
You can find out more information at https://www.unthrocon.org/

Commissions for Megaplex Delivery
General | Posted 11 years agoHello everyone, I have time for a few more commissions I can have ready for delivery at Megaplex at the end of July. As I won't have a dealer's table I won't be able to take payment for the items at the con, these are standard online commissions that are not shipped. I have one tail that I'm finishing up and will be ready for more as well.
Let me know if you're interested.

Piano Streaming
General | Posted 12 years agoThat's right, I pulled out my keyboard today so I could set up some streaming. Basically what happened is that I was thinking about why I want to get better and it has always just been because I wanted to be "good". That term is way too vague, when am I "good?" Am I "good" right now? How do I measure how "good" I am? I'm coming to the conclusion that I want to perform, not necessarily professionally or anything like that, but what's the point of being able to play these pieces if no one gets to enjoy them with you? So I decided that I wanted to share with all of you and set up a stream so you could listen in.
You'll be able to find the stream at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/yuuryuu-plays when it's up. I'll send out a notification on twitter when I'm streaming.
I plan to have streams on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from about 4:30-5:30. Wednesday isn't included in that because that's when my lesson is.
I won't guarantee that every stream will be just me playing beautiful music, the hope is that having a set time will get me practicing more. So what this stream will be is my piano learning process.
I really hope you will come by and listen some time.

Megaplex Commissions
General | Posted 12 years agoI will be attending Megaplex this year at the end of July. I kept telling myself it was going to suck because it's Orlando in July, but I figure that I'll be spending 90% of my time inside where it's all air conditioned anyway so it won't be too bad. I'll just have to suffer when going to get food.
Anyway, as people are starting to figure out I like putting various items into the art shows of conventions I attend to help me cut down the cost of attending while still being able to enjoy the con without sitting behind a table all of the time. Unfortunately Megaplex doesn't have an art show so I can't do that. In theory I could get a table in the Dealer's Den to sell at to help cut the cost of attending, but I'd have to pay quite a bit to get all of my dealer's stuff there and I'd spent much of the convention behind a table missing everything which defeats the point of going.
This leads me to my question, would anyone be interested in commissions for pick-up at Megaplex? This would allow me to sell some items in advance and help you if you'll be attending by cutting out the shipping cost. In order for this to work legally I would have to have payment before I leave or it would be seen as selling at the convention which I'm not going to have permission to do.
At the moment I'm just trying to gauge interest, so let me know if that is something you might like to do.

Ask Me Anything
General | Posted 12 years agoI've seen a few of these around every now and then and thought it would be interesting. The idea is that you ask questions to my different characters/forms and I answer as that character. I'm really hoping for questions directed at my wolf/dragon form to help me get into his head more so I can be better at portraying him in fursuit.
Characters/forms include:
Tiny Yuuryuu
Wolf Yuuryuu
Full size Yuuryuu
Otter Yuuryuu

Further Confusion 2014 Meme Thing
General | Posted 12 years agoWell, it's that time of year again. FC is coming up quickly so here's an updated version of the meme thing I did for it last year. Many of the responses are the same.
Where are you staying?
At the Marriott
When will you arrive?
I'll be there on the 15th, probably fairly late but it depends on when we leave and how many stops people want to make.
When will you be leaving?
We will head out again early on the 20th.
How are you getting there?
Driving.
Who are you sharing a room with?
roochi,
svaubel, and another person.
Who will I likely see you with?
I'll probably be with Roochi and Kuragari a lot of the time as well as other Utah furs that I already know.
What do you plan to do at the convention?
Have fun mostly! I also hope to come out of my shell a bit and meet some new people, but knowing myself that isn't all that likely, I'm bad at meeting new people. I'll try though, it will be easier if I'm with people I already know.
How can I find you?
With your eyes? I'll probably be in my fursuit most of the time so look for a black dragon/wolf throwing fireballs at everyone. I also have a wolf disguise for my suit so you can look for that too.
Do you do free art?
No, unless I know you and I'm giving it to you as a gift of some sort. You won't know about it in advance if I do. I also won't be taking commissions at the convention, too many legal things.
Do you have anything in the art show?
Yes, I have a panel in the art show. I have 3 beautiful tails ready to go and I'm working on the standard smaller things. If there's something specific you want to see, let me know.
Will you be fursuiting? if so: What suit(s)?
Yes, I only have the one and I'll be in it often. I do have a disguise for it you might see at some point too if you pay attention.
How old are you?
Old enough, that's all you need to know...besides, there are other ways to find out that information with ease...on this very site no less!
Will you be going to parties?
Highly doubtful, not really my kind of environment.
Will you be performing?
Only in the sense that I'll be in fursuit. I hope to one day do piano performances at conventions, but I'd need to work on some kind of program for that first.
Smoke?
No, and I plan to avoid most smoking locations because I don't want my suit smelling like smoke even if I am a dragon...I hate that smell.
Drink?
I've had issues with other forms of depressants so I don't drink alcohol. The occasional soda is okay, but I mostly drink lemonade or water these days.
Gender?
I'm male last I checked...if you ask and I'm in the right mood I may let you check for yourself. ;)
How much do you weigh?
I don't see how that's really any of your business...
Come on!
I weigh enough! Now drop it!
Can I hug you?
In fursuit, yes, out of suit, maybe, ask first.
Can I talk to you?
Probably, but as I said earlier, knowing myself I might not talk back much so be ready for short responses at first.
Will you be at any panels?
Most likely, I'll have to see what's there, if they have an ADP I'll probably be there, dragons are hot.
Can I touch you?
Depends on what you mean by touch...
Can I buy you drinks?
Maybe, but like I said earlier, I don't touch alcohol. You're also not likely to see me in a place where people usually buy drinks for other people.
How tall?
That one height, geeze, what's with all of the stalker questions? Would you like my ID to copy too so you can have that information?
Yes please!
Okay, this just got really creepy, you can go away and someone else can ask the rest of these questions.
Can I snuggle with you?
Maybe, I love fursuit snuggles...that's a warning not a suggestion. ;)
If you're pissed off, should I approach you?
I probably won't be pissed off. I might be annoyed or lonely, but I don't think I'll be pissed off. If I'm annoyed, maybe but tread lightly, if I'm lonely please do...especially if I already know you, it's a big convention and I'll only know a relatively small number of people there and they're likely to do their own thing often. Although, if I am in a bad mood, you probably won't know it because I'll either be in fursuit, or back in my room avoiding everything.
Are you nice?
I want to say yes, but this is rather subjective. There are certain kinds of people I have no tolerance for, if you're one of them and make it known, you'll know pretty quick.
Single or Taken?
I'm currently single, I'm not really looking either. I don't really feel emotionally stable enough for a relationship, but then who does?
Cliquey?
I hope not, I generally try to stay with people I already know, but that's just because I already know them and meeting new people is pretty hard for me as I mentioned before.
Why are you bad at meeting people?
I thought I told you to go away! I am, that's all that matters at this point!
Can I Take pictures of you?
I love seeing pictures of myself in suit after the convention, not so much out of suit. Be warned, my suit is mostly black so it tends to be rather difficult to photograph well, be ready for that.
Will you get anything commissioned?
Probably, hard to say what though because I have so many ideas. I also still need to figure how much I'm willing to spend in the dealer's den.
Porn?
You're still here!? Fine, maybe it will be porn.
How can I get your attention?
You can call out to me, that usually works pretty well, although a lot of people just call me Yuu and shouting "Hey Yuu" might not give the desired reaction.
Can I ask you to dance at the raves?
I don't think I'll be at any of the dances, not really my kind of environment. If by some miracle I am there, sure, but I don't really dance...ever...
Anything else you want to say?
Yes, there are a lot of people that know me online, be warned that I'm at least a million times more open online than I am in person. Once I get to know you in person I'm a lot more open, but if I just know you online, don't expect much at first.
Where are you staying?

FC 2014 Art Show
General | Posted 12 years agoAs has become standard when I attend a convention I have a panel in the Further Confusion Art Show next month. I'm currently working on my third tail to enter which will leave me with some smaller items to make for it. I could do my standard kinds of things, but that's not so interesting and just because I like something doesn't mean everyone else will. So I'm turning to everyone else, what would you like to see? I'll of course have bracelets and keychains, but would you be interested in bidding on earrings? What kind of designs would you like to see on the keychains and bracelets? If you've been wanting something specific, this may be your chance, let me know what I should make and then you can come and bid on it at FC, maybe get it for cheaper than my commission prices.
Anthrocon 2014
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm starting to consider attending Anthrocon next year. To some of you this might not sound like a big deal, but there are some issues that make it more difficult for me. First and foremost is that I don't really know anyone that will be going and meeting and interacting with new people is usually very difficult for me. This means I'd likely spend most of the convention by myself and the doesn't sound like a lot of fun. It also raises the question of who I'd room with. The rooms can be quite expensive without people to split the cost, and put it on top of an airline ticket most of the way across the country and it just becomes prohibitively expensive. Those are really the main hurdles, who would I spend my time with? And who would I room with? Considering the overall situation, I'm sure the answers to both questions would probably be the same, but I don't know who attends that I know so I don't have an answer at the moment. Oh well, it's something to think about anyway.
Unthrocon
General | Posted 12 years agoUnthrocon was this past weekend here in Salt Lake City and it was amazing. I'm not going to give a full report or anything like that, I don't think anyone is interested in that, I'm just going to say that I had a lot of fun. I would also like to congratulate the staff for pulling it together in a short amount of time and for their success. Everyone that didn't make it this year should try to make it next year, I know it's Salt Lake City and we have some odd laws that make tourism interesting, but it really was awesome. I encourage you to give it a try before you assume it can't be any good.
RMFC Report Thing
General | Posted 12 years agoI had a ton of fun. I spent most of my time fursuiting...unsurprisingly.
On Thursday I arrived there with
klik and
keagos about 3:00 PM and checked in. We made a Walmart run and after we got back I got into fursuit for a little while. Once I got out we had some pizza and then went to the pool and hot tub for awhile before heading to bed.
Friday morning I had breakfast at the hotel cafe place before setting up in the art show. After that I got into fursuit again and ran around for awhile. I stuffed a fireball down the back of
2gryphon's shirt and left a bunch more on his table in the dealer's den. I attended the First Time Fursuiting and First Fur Con panels while in suit. After the panels I went to get out of suit and went to the 2 the Ranting Gryphon show. After the show I met up with
tenaxraccoon
damonhusky
traxer and ryker and we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. After that I pretty much just went to bed.
Saturday I woke up and walked to IHOP for breakfast. I was eventually joined by
traxer and
tenaxraccoon. There was a person doing balloon animals there and we got a dragon for me. After getting back to the hotel I got in suit and went to the basic music theory panel before going to get ready for the parade. The parade had a few issues and made it a pain, but I managed it. After the parade I ran around in suit for a bit before heading to the plushsuit panel. I mostly went because it was marked 18+ and I was curious why. It turns out that there was no reason and the panel was just 15 minutes long or so. After that I got out of suit and joined a lot of people for dinner up the street at La Mariposa where I got a 20" long burrito...and ate the whole thing. After getting back to the hotel I suffered from that for a little while before suiting up and heading down to the casino night. That was so much fun, I'd probably say it was the best part of the con. I had to wait awhile to get in, but once I was in I was easily able to get a spot at the craps table and spent the night shooting craps in fursuit for charity. I ended up with $300 so I got 3 raffle tickets, but I didn't win anything. After that I was practically dead because I didn't have my water bottle with me so I hurried back to the room to get out of suit and get some water when I was invited to the game room for a game of Betrayal at House on the Hill which is fantastic! We got a scenario where people were aging rapidly, but I managed to avoid all of that. I started as the oldest character and by the end I was almost the youngest. After that we ran into someone that was totally new to the fandom; he was at the hotel across the street for work and came over to see what was happening and we all got to talking. After awhile it was getting really late so I excused myself and went to bed.
Sunday I woke up later than I wanted so I had to get a quick breakfast at the hotel cafe again before heading over to the voice auction because I had a couple of items in it. I did pretty well in the art show this year. After that I once again went to get in suit, but I put on the wolf disguise this time. I wear myself out so much faster with the wolf disguise, the lack of wings and smaller tail really make me more energetic. Because of this I was only able to be in suit for a few hours which was okay. I took a break from the con after getting out of suit and just vegged in the hotel room until artist checkout for the art show. After that I vegged in the room some more before going to run through the dealer's den making all of the purchases for the convention. After taking my purchases back to the room it was about time for the Town Hall thing and the closing ceremonies. I ran into the guy from the night before and he had totally jumped in head first. Saturday night he was asking about selecting a fursona and not only had he done so over night, he had also purchased a badge of it in the dealer's den! After that several of us went over to the Country Buffet for dinner, it was pretty much an average buffet. Then I vegged in the room for awhile and started contemplating bed when I heard that Betrayal was being set up again so I went to do that. We played a couple more times. The first game was a scenario I had played before with a hidden traitor, we won that one, and the second game I was the traitor. That was a lot of fun because everything that had played out beforehand gave me a huge advantage and I won without too much difficulty. After that it was late and so I got most of my stuff packed up and went to bed.
Monday morning I finished packing and went down to get breakfast at the hotel cafe again. We finished packing, got checked out and headed home.
I had a fantastic time, but I'm not sure I'll be back next year. It will depend on financials and if I want to try to attend a convention I haven't been to before. I'll have to wait and see.

Weasyl
General | Posted 12 years agoI have a weasyl account, but with the message I just got I'm probably going to cancel it. I uploaded preview images of the scale mail items I put up in the RMFC art show. There were a total of 18 items. By itself this isn't a problem, the problem is that they messaged me saying that all of the items are pretty much indistinguishable. The only similarities between the images are that they are of chain mail items and were taken in the same place. The items themselves are distinctly different. To me this is like saying telling a sculptor that they can't upload picture of all of their work because they're all sculpted and the pictures were taken in the same location. If the item in the photo is clearly different than it shouldn't be subject to these rules. I've messaged the mod that initially contacted me these reasons I think they're in error, we'll see how they respond. If they insist that they're all the same I will be removing myself from that site. I did prefer it over any other site I could upload to, but if they're going to insist that my items aren't distinctly different just because they're all scale mail, I'm not going to even look there anymore.

Where are you staying?
Doubletree.
What day are you getting there?
Thursday.
Who will you be with?
klik and
keagos
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
Friends I have around the convention. Some of my usual hang out peeps aren't going so I might be spending quite some time by myself.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Maybe, I'll have to see what's scheduled.
Will you be suiting?
Naturally, I'll be in suit a lot, look for me!
What is your gender?
I'm a dude last I checked.
How old are you?
Old enough
How tall are you?
Somewhere about the distance I cover when laying down.
Are you single?
Yup, and not really looking, but we'll see what happens.
Can I hang out with you?
Sure, but I'll warn you that I tend to be very very shy around new people.
Can I talk to you?
See above.
Can I touch you?
Umm...maybe?
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Am I in suit? Yes, if I'm not please don't.
How can I find you?
I'll be around, mostly in suit, so look for that.
Can I visit your room?
Depends, do I know you and what do you plan to do?
Can I buy you drinks?
Water please.
Can I give you stuff?
Maybe, depends on the stuff.
Are you nice?
I try to be, but I think I often some off as cold because I tend to be really shy and quiet.
How long are you going?
I'm leaving Monday morning.

Unthrocon!
General | Posted 12 years agoA few years ago a few people from the Salt Lake City area decided to have a small party on the Saturday during Anthrocon where they played games, fursuited, and just generally had a good time because they couldn't make it to AC. They started calling this party Unthrocon! Last year it got too big for the house that they had been doing it in so they got a little bit of hotel convention space for the night and a good time full of games and furry frivolity was had by all.
This year they're bumping it up towards a full convention with more space, more days, and even a dealer's den! They even changed the dates to August 30-September 1 so that they no longer conflict with Anthrocon. In other words, Salt Lake City is getting a convention!
I know, this information is useless without details, but keep you pants on(for now).
Location: Salt Lake City Radisson Hotel
Dates: August 30 - September 1 2013
Registration Price: $35 pre-reg - $45 at door
Go check them out at https://www.unthrocon.org/
Also, it's a great convention to fly into because the hotel is right off of a stop for the light rail system which now runs all the way to the airport which you can take for just $2.50; so much better than a cab ride or a paid shuttle. The transit system is fairly extensive and also has day passes available at $6.25/day so it can really open up the area for you to do things. Of course, it's also located in the transit system's "free fare zone" which allows you to use the buses and light rail for free when going through the zone, so be sure to check them out at http://www.rideuta.com/
The Radisson Hotel is quite literally located just 2 blocks away from 2 different malls so there is plenty of option for food right near by.
