Hi to all new watchers!
Posted 2 years agoHi everyone! It's been a year since my last journal, so I thought maybe it's time I write a new one and say hi to my new watchers, as there's quite a few of you :) I appreciate any new followers, it's nice to see people follow my art, so hello and thank you all!
As for me, well, I took a break from art for a while, as I had to change jobs. I had a few projects in-between my break. I no longer need to wake up so early and travel 100 km back and forth each day. I get so much more free time after work, it's so much better. I've been drawing again, cus I haven't had so much time before due to my work and constant travels. I'm hoping to get back into my drawing momentum again. There are still tons of other hobbies I have like hiking, geocaching, gardening, but those can wait, I can't really do much when it's so dark outside :D Not a big fan of autumn, it's so windy, rainy, cold and dark outside. Just miserable weather. At least it's brighter with snow outside, hope it snows even more as time goes on.
Personally, I can't wait for autumn/winter to be finally over and have the summer warmth come back, I need my sun! The only thing right now I'm looking forward is the antler shed season, just a couple more months and I'll be hiking in forests again. Y'know, it's funny, but forests here are far more accessible during winter than during any other season. The trees and shrubs have no leaves, so you can see better all around, the foliage is dead, so you won't catch any ticks, and all the swamps freeze over, so it's easier to walk around. There are lots of swamps in my country, so it's nice to go where only animals can during winter time and find any cool places. I've found some suspicious things on my hikes... :D And besides, it's so easier to track animals in snow. I'm no hunter though, I just do it for fun.
Well, that's all from me for now, this draggy will have to put on tons of layers and keep the fireplace going to keep warm during winter. I'll catch you all later, take care and thanks for reading!

Lil' art update + updated comm prices
Posted 3 years agoHey! It's been exactly a year since my last journal and life update. Just some quick things.
I've changed departments at my work, I'm working in industry now. It's less mundane and not so stressful, which is good. All that paperwork left a sour taste in my mouth working in QC xD anyways, we don't have much things to do there these days, so I'm thinking of moving elsewhere again. Even if I've made friends there, it's for the best.
As for my art, well, it's slow but there's progress. I've finished two old pieces and have more coming. I've bought an iPad with Procreate since then and it's been a blast to just whip it out and draw whenever I want, whether it would be in my bed, on a couch, at my gf's place or even at my workplace!
And as for my commissions, I've made a few adjustments to the prices and other minimal things, I think some of the options felt a bit too cluttered and should be neater now. Experience is what I need the most anyways, haha
Thanks for reading and I'll see you all next time ;)

Life upd8
Posted 4 years agoHey all, thought I would make an update, 'cause I believe it's been long overdue.
So, the reason I haven't been posting so much and been so quiet, is that I've been majorly busy with life stuff. I've finally got my master's degree just two months ago, where I was busy doing lab work for data and writing my thesis. I actually got the last tidbit of my data that was sequencing on the last week that I had to submit my thesis to my reviewer. Yeah, so that was fun xD The worst part was where I didn't know exactly to do with my sequencing data or how to interpret it as my supervisor wasn't exactly helpful... Well, less helpful and more like „ignoring and not replying to e-mails“ lmao. It was a mess, but I successfully defended my work with a high grade in the end :D
So with two degrees I was like „hey, maybe I should start looking for work“, so here I am. No longer a jobless student, but a junior quality control analyst working for one of the biggest companies in the world that provide a lot of products for life science related work. I've always imagined myself working in the industry and the majority of workers here do that, as there's a smaller percent of people working in research or other areas, but I'm rather glad I was able to get into QC? It seems to be way more fun having to do a big variety of tests with a lot of bioproducts, instead of following a routine every day; but sure, with that comes a big responsibility to make sure the client gets their product on time and not making mistakes is critical. Job really would be perfect if I didn't have to wake up at 5 every morning and get home at 18, because work is like 100 km away. But it really is a fantastic opportunity.
I just wish I could somehow incorporate art with my work? Obviously, I can't draw while I work, I barely find the time to do anything else, but I thought maybe I could get something like an iPad or something. I don't know how well that could work while driving though, the roads aren't exactly the best xD kind of bumpy. I've tried drawing after work, but I get like 3 hours of free time besides making food and when I get home, I'm too tired to do anything. Like I just wanna do nothing after a long, exhausting day. It bugs me a lot 'cause I have quite a few sketches done from a june prompt that I did with a friend, that I just have to colour and shade. Been taking me some extra time 'cause I'm switching from PhotoShop to Krita, so lots of experimental things going on xd So that's that. I technicallycould just post the sketches, but eh, I kind of want to finish them! Lots of Spyro related stuff:)

3D artist friend is doing a giveaway every 100 subs
Posted 5 years agoHi all,
An old friend that has reached 40 subs on YT, is going to hold giveaways every 100 subs until she hits 1k total. The prize is a low-poly model of whatever you want. So it can be anything you want, whether a dino, dragon, furry, plant, whatever. She will pick winners randomly, the only requirement is to be subscribed to her channel. So if you're interested in participating in one of her giveaways, give her a sub! She would appreciate it and so would I:)
Channel and video link here https://youtu.be/_aaxmsOOF30
As for my own personal projects, I got some Spyro EtD fanart in the works that I started in december, hoping to finish before spring comes. It's honey themed!

Finding time for art when you have other stuff to do
Posted 5 years agoThought I'd make an update, since it's been a while. I know I haven't posted a lot of art recently, not as much as other artists that post at least monthly. I always wondered, how do other artists find the time to draw? Especially if they have another job besides being a freelancer artist. I live in a two story with a pretty big yard and one other family member. I spent most of my time either taking care of the house/garden or playing games or some other hobby-related stuff.
Responsibilities suck up the most of my time, like chores, uni and obviously taking care of myself and others. When I'm done, I usually have a few hour left before I go to bed, so I spend those few hours playing a quick game, 'cause I'm too tired to draw. I can't imagine coming home from work and sitting down to draw. Am I just getting too old for this or what lol. Or perhaps I just view art as a second job and not as a relaxing activity? Either way, I'll try harder to squeeze a session of art in my busy schedule, maybe I'll even post some sketches as I love doing those :)

A little bit history. :) I've been on this site longer than my account creation says (2016), around 2009 on my first account I believe. I originally joined deviantART on 2008 as a complete noob at art (still am), an old fellow art friend made me get into art. I wouldn't have started drawing dragons if not for her. After that I spent most of my free-time drawing dragon doodles on my textbooks lol
Afterwards I entered university, got my degree in biology and genetics and kind of lost the time and motivation to draw. Now I've been trying to get back into art and try to be more active on this site. So don't be shy, feel free to talk to me :)
