So I spent most of this year on a hiatus to recuperate from some pretty tough burnout - like, panic attacks starting up just from thinking about drawing or engaging online kind of rough. I still did a lot of doodles since that's the only work I ever do (some of which I'll start posting soon, some of which you can go see in projects like Stewpot and Apocalypse Keys from Evil Hat Productions!), but I just really needed to consolidate 'work stuff' and 'play stuff' and feel out a safer/less busy time to come back. Also I got a puppy!



And of course I can't stay away from Soul Jar season!
Throughout October, for a $80 (or 150 for a double jar), I'll collect a spirit of your choice with a befitting collection of objects to keep them safe and comfortable (or punished and uncomfortable, I'm not a judge, just a simple ghost farmer). If you'd like to grab one, just dm me before midnight on October 31 - after Halloween, souls are too slippery to catch and will have to wait until next year

I had a few projects kind of jump on me all at once and got a bit overwhelmed over the past couple months. Keeping up with posts and messages is uniquely challenging for the absolute introvert hermit that I am, so they kind of quickly got thrown out the window. I'm back now though, and with some new ADD meds, so hopefully I won't have quite as much of an issue taking on too much and getting smooshed by it all.

Had to spend some time offline and not doing much for a couple of months. I thought I was just burnt out and ADD weird after a several big projects/events coalesced, but it lasted for a bit too long, my tricks to mitigate it didn't work, and I randomly had a strong bounce back. This happens to me occasionally, and in the bounce back it always becomes incredibly clear that I was actually just depressed for a month or two. I've suspected for a long time that I have bipolar disorder (it runs in my family) and now that I finally finished my transition and killed my dysphoria, I can actually approach dealing with these depression loops, and I'm mentioning it to this fraction of the internet to help remind me to actually do it :V!

ALL THAT IS TO SAY: Brain better now! Brain do the regular feels. Brain will do the regular work and talk again.

To anyone waiting a little longer than they anticipated for a progress update:
My upstairs neighbor's apartment flooded last week, dumping about 60 gallons of water into my apartment and I spent several days just catching water, moving furniture and cleaning. After a couple days off and a bit more cleaning, I'll be back to working regularly and you should be getting updates more quickly. Thanks for your patience in the meantime! :)

Otherwise for everyone else, I'll also be reopening animated commissions in a couple of weeks for anyone who's been wanting to get their hands on one! I'll post another journal when they do :>

Tomorrow is the beginning of St Chocoton's Feast, so I thought I'd sare a bit about celebrating it and the virtues of our dearest fat opossum St. Chocoton: generosity, frugality, opportunism, prudence, and indulging your brief life to some good gorbage

This holiday is officially after Valentine's (but also occurs after any holiday with a deluge of cheap, unwanted treats), and lasts vaguely for a week - intentionally flexible for you to find a day/days that best suit you to celebrate and time to find the best sales. Aside from buying a bunch of cheap sale treats, we also make a space and some time to indulge ourselves dress in comfy, scruffy clothes - perhaps with an additional necklace or crown of crumpled colorful paper wads, like Chocoton's own crown.

Keep all your treats in Chocoton's Opossum Pouch - a bag that can add an element of surprise when you go to grab your treats, as well as keep them neatly in one place. Consider giving some small pouches of treats for others, too!

Make a nice fluffy space to chill in! Decorations can just be pillows and blankets, or you can add lights, colorful paper wad strings/paper chains, or cut outs of your fav scavenger critters. Save them for next year to avoid unnecessary waste (I keep mine in my Chocoton pouch). Common themes of St Chocoton's Feast to inspire some decorative ideas: opossums and other scavengers, inverted hearts (the symbol of Chocoton, reclaimed from the unwanted holiday treats), the moon/night, and of course chocolate and garbage.

Remember to keep your space tidy! (Unwanted) trash in your comfy places/environment in general can be harmful to health and add to stress. Opossums are very particular about being clean, groom extremely frequently, and reduce trash and pests in our shared environments. Be like possum!

Hiss at your friends!
Hiss at strangers!
Hiss at the moon! Hiss at that bright nighttime dingdong! What does he even think he’s doing up there?!

It's October, and that means I'll be capturing the souls of all those fellas that deserve it (or maybe don't, I don't judge). After October souls are too slippery to capture, so DM me and grab a slot before midnight on the 31st!

$55 each, turnaround can be expected within a week or two, and I'll give you progress updates along the way. I really only need to know the soul of who you want captured, but if you happen to have any specific items to keep them contented in their jars, or nearby, just let me know~

As it turns out, my insurance ended up covering both my top surgery AND a hysterectomy/oophorectomy, which I'm still pretty stunned by; I just expected them to turn their noses up at any trans related procedures. My hysto is tomorrow, and that'll be the last procedure I feel like I really need for my transition. Then I can finally live without the constant weight of dysphoria and the anxiety of being caught, or any potential for cancers or other complications in the future. It's exciting, but feels weird - like I've been handed freedom, but I've never actually had it before, so I don't...exactly know what to do with it haha

Just got back earlier today and was expecting WAY more pain and loopiness, but everything went smoothly and I feel pretty normal besides a little soreness and fatigue. After A few weeks I'll kind of detail my healing process, appointments and all the prepwork I did for before/after the surgery so anyone thinking about getting it themselves or anyone who's just curious can have a pretty solid reference - I know a lot of people aren't great at being clear about their process and it isn't always useful for readying yourself.

Otherwise, I plan on doing nothing in particular for a week or two besides eating fancy cheeses and watching tv lol

It's been a long tiresome wait, but I finally got enough funds as well as insurance that will cover top surgery! :D I still need to hear back from them, but my ins may cover a hysto too, which would definitely save me a lot of health worries.

My surgery is scheduled for early April, although I was told it might be bumped up if there's any cancellations. I know a lot of other folks that follow me here are also transmasc, so I'll probably be posting my pre/post op survival checklist once I start feeling better and have some perspective on what helped and what I might have missed (or more likely what was unnecessary - I tend to over-prepare). I'm almost embarrassingly excited to put together snack and meal kits for the initial couple weeks, cause it's basically gonna be like 80% fancy cheeses and crackers and my favorite soup recipes.

I'm not too worried about pain/mobility while healing - I've prepped pretty hard for that and have plans for accessibility - I'm mostly concerned that I'll have to sleep on my back way more than I'll ever want to deal with, and about my cat who EXTREMELY LOVES HUGS AND CLIMBING ONTO ANYONE'S CHEST/SHOULDERS FOR THEM AT HER WHIM. Hopefully just a bed tray will give her the picture that she can't sit on me, but we'll see lol.

These are otherwise essentially the last legs of my transition, and I'll feel pretty done and happy and safe with where I am :)

So for the past few months I've avoided uploading much (and took a general light internet break) because my arms have been injured and I've been waiting for them to heal to a more comfortable level. It's basically tennis elbow and in ~both~ my elbows, so things like drawing and typing have been difficult, but steadily getting better.

This month I'll be starting to work through the log of commission requests I've gotten since December, and I'll be posting a bunch of commissions and things I finished up around winter, as well as the doodles I'm making for Adventure April of my pet sparrow as a tiny explorer! If my arms are good enough by May, I might have another animated commission special in mind~

After a semi-hiatus over the past month or two (or however long, I'm bad at time) I'm reopening commissions, so those of you who have been asking, send me a note!

Turn around is generally between a couple days to a week, depending on the commission type and how many I'm handling at the time.

Price is determined more by how much time I expect to spend working, rather than the type of drawing, so if you're not sure what the difference between simple or complex is, you can just tell me your idea and I can give you a quote, or you can just name how much you're comfortable paying and I'll work according to that!
