I should start doing themes
Posted 7 months agoDrawing more Skyfox stuff make me want to start doing more themes and just stick to it for the iron artists part until I swap to a new one.
So I guess I will start drawing my OCs as inserts as fanarts for games I play as well, something I avoid doing.

Adjustment to Daily draw commission
Posted 8 months agoIt has been a while since I first started and a lot has changed so I'm updating the Daily Draw Comm side a bit.
Edit: I will rename it to Iron Artist now that some pics are not really possible to get done in 1 sitting.
Pricing
Full body going up from $35 to $40.
Bust and Headshot are still roughly the same price range.
I have been trying to push the quality of the daily draw up and has been taking longer time especially on full body so I'm slightly raising the price on it.
Background ceiling has been raised from $10 to $20
Same as the above, background is getting way more detailed than expected so I'm raising the ceiling for the more detailed stuff.
Additional Characters
Adding the option to have a second character in the piece.
If the overall piece become too large, I will mention if it will take me an extra day or two to finish it.
I have updated the sheet with the new detail, the ala carte style price option and the examples of you what you can expect with the bigger price range.
And to keep up with my full comm side, Daily Draw will also count the Comm piece I have done for the day. This way I won't end up trying to draw another full body piece instead of finishing work for people who already gave me their money.

Quick break from Daily Draw for tomorrow
Posted 8 months agoMy Main comm progress has been sidelined for a bit too long, only making much leap on weekends, so I want to use tomorrow to finally send out the much needed updates or finish them up.
Speed draw as alternate commission?
Posted 9 months agoSeeing as I will be cutting down my slots starting this February to work on my game project, I have been thinking about what I can do to still accept some comm work on the side that I know won't overwhelm me with too much work.
And since I'm still doing daily speed draws to keep up with my practice and upload, I'm thinking about opening it up as alternate option that faster and cheaper as I have to stick to my daily routine and get something drawn every day even with me working on the larger commissions and personal stuff.
The price range will be $15-$35. Unlike the Refined sketch or Full rendering commissions where you send me the details on what you want drawn and we do a back-and-forth, you just send me the references to the character and I have to come up with something for the piece as a part of my daily draws like what I have been doing the past 2 weeks.
Based on the amount, I will tell you ahead of time if it's going to be a headshot, bust or waist down depending on the character complexity and depending on queue/demands, when the character will be the subject of the daily draw.
Anyone interested?
Edit: I will be making the SpComm sheet later then for tracking status.

The goal for 2025
Posted 10 months agoNew year and it's time to do what everyone is doing, going to the gym for a day and then abandoning it as part of my New Year resolution.
But beside the gym trip, 2025 is the year I plan on taking my creative pursuit more seriously. 2024 was mainly dedicated to improving some of my gears, pay off all my bills and stabilize things as I work on saving up now that I'm in the green which allow me to actually do things I want to do in 2025. For 2025, I do want to actually get to work on the game I have planned for a while now and actually start coding again.
So once I'm done with the current January batch, I will start slowing down on the commission side. I won't be accepting 7-10 slots like I normally do and will just accept enough to pay my bills and some gaming spending so about 3-5 slots instead with open DM to reserve slots ahead of time so my schedule is more solid. This way, I can plan how to spend 2 to 3 weeks per month on my personal stuff and coding. Hopefully, there won't be any emergency that completely destroy this.
And as an idea, I might do some YCH as a way to test out some UI design. The winner isn't appearing in the game, it's just a YCH where you get what to what your characters will be like inside a game with info screen, combat sprite or visual novel scene, etc.
The year is just starting and I will have to adjust this plan as things happen but unlike the last few years, I will make it so that when I do get to show off my stuff, it won't be just another April fool joke.

Regarding the announced price change starting next year
Posted 2 years agoTwitter version with the picture included

So yeah, as I have written in the current commission sheet description, there will be a price bump starting January 2024. The last time I did this was in July 2022 and I tried to hold out for as long as I could but a lot has happened and I'm unfortunately forced to do it now.
To explain myself, it will be easier to check out the gif I posted to Twitter but to describe it in detail, whenever I work on a piece, I used to just do 1 quick sketch that I send for approval and I just quickly refine that before I move on to the lineart. For any mistakes I am unable to fix, I usually try to make them as hard as possible to spot when I work on the full coloring.
Over the year, I have been picking up some lessons from better artists on their drawing process and have been copying them to improve my own crafts. One of the tricks I pick up is to "Sketch twice" or to refine the initial sketch from just quick poses at a glance into something that resemble the final piece and fix pretty much every mistakes possible before I do the lineart. In a way, it's almost like drawing the entire thing with flat gray first. This result in a much better quality with muscular character actually have some beefs in them and way less stuff I have to blur and hide and I can instead make the detail pop out more and go with more difficult poses. This unfortunately increase the amount of time required to finish a piece but because I am still getting used to it and building my speed, I have been omitting this part from the fee whenever I do my price estimation.
So it really doesn't help that inflation has been going up and even with me getting used to it, I am still taking extra time to finish pieces with all the new steps. Sticking to the same pricing from a year and a half ago has taken a considerable toll on my expenses so I have no choice now but to start factoring the new steps into the pricing now. I do not want to skyrocket my prices to unbearable levels though and leave my frequent commissions behind so I will try to split the increase across multiple factors instead so unless you're getting a very large or complicated piece, the bump should feel minor or moderate at worst.
Starting January 2024, there will be a minor bump to the base cost of Headshot, Bust shot, Waist down and Ref sheet and I will be splitting the background into 3 tier instead of 2. Any further increase will be more dedicated toward complexity fee so as long as the piece isn't very difficult to work on, I want to keep the price bump to around 15-20% at best. The exact value will be listed on the new sheet on January.
So until mid-December, I'm sticking with the current pricing with no extra fee from the [Sketch 2] phase with extra slots. If the slots end up full, I will have a reserved queue up to a certain amount so as long as your stuff is already covered in December, you won't have to worry about getting charged with the new pricing.

Apology for the slow work week
Posted 2 years agoWas going to get some stuff out in the last few days but I only managed to get 1 day worth of work done in the last week because I ended up getting my gallbladder infected when I went all out and ate a pasta with pizza which I shouldn't have. Fortunately it's not an overly severe one though it did take a few days before I got it treated because I thought it was just a simple case of indigestion as I did have a day where I felt better.
The pain and agony days are over now thanks to the treatment but I'm still feeling nauseous and tired so once I'm fully recovered, I will go back to working as fast as I can to get all the stuff delivered. Kinda suck this happen on the month I have the most tight deadline but I will think of something.
